Harlan Coben adapted on British TV is something I will avoid from now on. The plot is overly complex to look smart and oh so mysterious when in fact it is full of plot holes, characters acting beyond common sense, etc. Acting is so so, this is overlong......Try the first episode at your own risk, but if you don;t like it that much, don;t waste any more time like we did. Definitely not worth it
This show has definitely lost it's charm. I was really hoping to find some of the spirit of the first iteration but as the "CW" logo in the corner would already tell you... it's just a generic/cheesy fantasy show now with nothing to show for it. The new sisters have a dynamic I just don't care much about and where as the Halliwell's had a lot to work on, including their powers these ladies already decide after the first episode that they have to science the heck out of magic (which hardly ever comes up anymore). No one really cares about the "Book of Shadows" anymore (which was turned into a voice activated search device) or exploring witchcraft since their power level is just too convenient (and that is not even relying on the power of three). Heck, they even added in Phoebe's premonition power in form of a device now... Maybe it's because I'm bored at this point but they really cram a lot into the episodes but it's all moot story threads. There have been multiple episodes now with major mood whiplashes too so yeah... it's bad; and this is not even mentioning the "woke" writing which can be in a league of it's own. I should have dropped this way sooner...
If a grocery store sells paperback books, they most often carry many titles churned out by the author Stephen King. Usually, they’re top-sellers and are prominently displayed. There are new titles so often that is seems there may be a sweatshop in some country where children are ordered to write scary stories really really fast — then the Stephen King Corporation glances through them to find the best of mediocrity.
‘Haven’ appropriately represents this, and would be perfect for watching on your smartphone while waiting in checkout lines. Crying without tears. Humor without laughter. Plot without substance. Acting without appropriate skills. Haven has it all, even the kitchen sink.
$3.00 an episode, or $20 for a season? Anyone willing to pay those prices would be a swampland merchant's dream. Nothing but reruns on regular TV, and, Haven is part of your Netflix or Prime streaming subscription… maybe… It's one of those shows you can miss gaps or episodes of, and it really doesn't matter.
There’s so much choice when it comes to good television these days, and while Haven doesn’t come close to representing that —you could do worse.
Wasn't a fan of Brie Larson, and that might have been influenced by how social media depicted her... regardless, began watching this expecting not to like it... given her character having a robotic personality, being socially clueless, and seemingly preachy, I thought this was going the same way that I had expected from the oddball that she, as an actor, was painted to be... infact, episode 2 being a dog's POV had me heaving a sigh of relief, to not have to deal with the actress...
Then imagine by surprise by end of episode 3, I was totally invested in the character, and her ordeals... so much so that, by end of episode 4, I couldn't stand to wait anymore; and picked up the book it was based on... it is one of the very few instances, when I have picked up a book, mid-series... by the end of episode 8, the series had sufficient changes to the book's narration, regardless, it was all in character... though I must confess to have liked the book ending better, I can't fault the choices that the character of Elizabeth Zott, makes in this series... very very plausible...
The rest of the casting is brilliant at the role they play... and have great chemistry between them (pun intended)... this is one mini-series, where I have felt the need to update my rating, almost every week... I might possibly rate this a 10, if I ever revisit this... my favourite show in 2023 by a mile...
How did they get these actors I don't understand. It's bad. Career killer bad.
Like someone said somewhere; "right concept.wrong network". The premise is nice, the pilot was nice, but right now the show if filled with useless and boring sub-plots and empty characters doing "I have seen this stuff 20 times on tv" moments. Grant Wilson is the only one who doesn't annoy me in this show.
I will see the season finale for the main plot and just that. the rest it´s like i´m watching Disney channel.
Neat concept but too many cliches to list. It’s like they used AI to write a sitcom script as it checks all the boxes.
It’s not my cup of tea and I don’t plan to I watch the rest after a couple of episodes. it’s cute at times, but there are too many annoying supporting cast characters that bug me.
After 4 seasons, I think many people could watch themselves reflect in Devi's life, a person with intense emotions, kinda crazy, growing, finding herself, embracing her culture, creating strong relationships with her mom and family. Such a funny show.
Goodbye! While the final season was all over the place especially after the multiple breaks … it is now understandable why it happened that way: sudden cancellation when they have planned for it longer … not easy to suddenly cut it short.
Hopefully we'll see another spin-off of the original franchise and see character cameos to connect the worlds/series.
Again, thank you Legacies actors and staff! It has been a very fun ride!
And ABC just cancelled after five episodes.
To be honest, I expected this after the first episode. Watched it because of Katey and I do like it. But I understand that it gets no traction with viewers. It isn't a clear cut drama because of all the comedy elements. It is also not funny enough to be a comedy. And it shouldn't be with a topic like that. So it tries too much to pull in viewers from different angles. Maybe if they had focused on the dramatic aspects it could have survived. Acting wasn't bad, I liked seeing Katey again.
Let's see if they at least manage some kind of ending.
One of those shows that doesn’t quite sure what it wants to be, but pretends it does so that you’re tricked into believing that there’s a point to the plot. So you keep waiting and waiting, through one disappointing episode to the next, until you realise you found the perfect show to ignore and just play at the background for some sort of sensory stimulation while you do other interesting things, just so you somehow finish it and gets off your “continue playing” list on Netflix.
Super hilarious right until the end and refreshing cinematography :sparkles: i enjoyed every second of the show
I found this to be a fun lighthearted reinterpretation of chinese stories they do alot of homages to kungfu movies which is great definitely a safe way to get the family into kungfu films or shows
This is a very long show, so it might take a while to finish, but it's definitely worth it. This show has come to a close in 2015, but it still has relevant topics to be discussed by our generation.
This coming-of-age drama is extremely watchable, with a good balance of humour and heart. The casting is great. Will probably appeal more to teens and women than adult men. Only complaint is that Ben Gross is an anti-Semitic portrayal in the first season that doesn't upend the tropes it's playing on but instead reinforces them; this is consciously dialed back in the second season and beyond.
i'm curious why this is so highly rated...? i watched it a few years ago and was like "whatever, i guess it's got some emotion-inducing stuff." but then i rewatched and felt myself cringing at the fact that i wasn't cringing the first time i watched this lol. maybe max richter's original compositions for the show distracted me (though they were way overused)
i'm especially confused as to why the episode "international assassin" is the highest rated episode of the series on IMDB?? that's the episode that gave me the most eyerolls for non-religious related reasons lmao, even my first watch through
i've watched a lot of tv, and i enjoy most of it because i can find genuine enjoyment out of "bad tv" too. but this just gave me too much second-hand embarrassment. i mean, the promo posters alone..
i do see where some people might get enjoyment from watching the show, so no judgement or whatever
There's only 6 episodes in the first season?!! Noooooo, this show was literally building so well n then that was it. I'm so glad it's been renewed for a second, please please please more eps! One of the realest shows I've seen and I really felt part of the friendship group as I was watching. Their personalities work so well together and I really love all the leads! I find myself crushing on each of them every episode, just me?! :')
This show definitely made me wanna pick up skating!!! I'm thinking I'm gonna go watch their movie Skater Kitchen now (not sure if there's any duplication of material etc)
(Also if anyone's like me and knows very little about skating and was wondering how the show got its name, skater girls are referred to in quite a derogative way by skater guys as "bettys")
Season 1: terrible
Season 2: Okay
Season 3: AMAZING
Season 4: alright
Season 5: Terribleeee
Sam is a terrible person. This show is not about insider trading but an exploration in to how terrible of a person Sam is.
The story is about Sam who has a gambling problem & a serial liar with 0 redeeming qualities. Literally there is not a single good thing about Sam that you can feel for. And the writers make it so that she gets out from every hole she digs herself into with no retribution.
The writers could’ve done a better job. It’s a train wreck of a show. I would not recommend this show to anyone.
I don't really know what to make of this show or how to rate it. Two identical twin sisters who constantly swap their lives back and forth, all apparently because of some incident that triggered their bizarre behaviour. The story starts off OK, to such an extent that I thought it might actually be good, for the first 3-4 episodes but in the later episodes, where they actually start to explain (some!) of the story it starts to tail off drastically. The acting isn't particularly good, which doesn't help, but there are just too many things that just aren't explained. At first we are led to think that there's some reason for their behaviour and some sinister secret that the story is heading towards but as the story unfolds there are just too many threads that are revealed only to go nowhere. It then changed from being confusing because likely there's some plot and a reason to just plain confusing where the confusion, rather than the story (which largely gets ignored and dropped mid-stream), becomes the whole point of the show, such that, other than the confusion over who is who at any given time, there's no actual point to watching as it constantly goes nowhere. The show was definitely at least 2 episodes too long and identity switching just isn't a compelling enough story in its own right to make for good viewing, that coupled with the lame acting and poor writing (the incompetence of the Sheriff's Dept in the final episode is beyond belief, along with the totally eyebrow raising vanishing and re-appearance of one or both of the twins with zero thought given to how credible it is) means that I certainly won't be around for any season 2! I find it also quite surprising that for a mini-series, the ending seems to be a set up for a season 2, either that or ending was even more lame than I thought!
Why is the only black woman cast in the role of "the outsider", again? I'm so tired of this trope… there are some refreshing bits here and there, but all in all I'm a bit disappointed by this show as a whole.
Very fun watch. Over the top drama that works as long as you're willing to suspend your disbelief.
They try to shoehorn in Ben Platt's musical talent in a few places in ways that don't seem natural, but that's really my only complaint.
Hope it continues on to season 2, because the finale promises another great arc.
The Protector is a trivial TV series, with a rough acting even by the main characters, the fights are clumsy and lacking in dynamism, artificial and obvious. However I saw the whole first season hoping it could improve over time. But even the first episode of the second season was a total disappointment, with a very predictable plot. The Immortal as evil protagonist seems one of the villains of the worst cartoon series, banal in attitudes. In short, an unwatchable TV series.
