"Please, continue to retouch me. My photo is going to become my real self."
Slow-moving psychological drama romance with light horror and a little blood. This one has a lot to say about image and authenticity. Hiding the imperfections on a photo with photoshop and filters to the point of unrecognition. How being someone you don't want to be in order to be popular leads to losing your real self in the process. It's also about the pressure to be authentic and not knowing how to be authentic. Also what happens when your authenticity isn't well-received or censored by society.
The imagery is beautiful, the editing is clever and some great acting. It relies strongly on music to set the mood, it's oftentimes excessive, distracting and it catches you off guard. The real star is the sound it's unrealisticly loud and jarring you can hear every footstep, computer clicks, crickets, birds, frogs, cicadas, clothes rubbing, a piece of bread breaking... a praying mantis eating. It's pretty much ASMR! Every character had something interesting to bring to the table, my favorite was Kai's friend/customer his side story was truly heartwarming.
A very unique romance with hypnotising filmmaking and some really weird moments. If you can get past it's image there's truly something beautiful about it.

Spaceballs: The Movie Review. Spaceballs is a clever and hilarious parody film whose humor holds up extraordinarily well. When Princess Vespa is kidnaped by Spaceballs hoping to coerce her father into giving up his planet’s air supply he hires a mercenary named Lone Starr to save her. John Candy, Rick Moranis, Bill Pullman, and Mel Brooks lead an outstanding cast that delivers pure comedic gold. Everything from Alien to The Wizard of Oz is spoofed; though the main focus is on sci-fi films (Star Wars, Star Trek, Planet of the Apes). And, most of it’s done in a smart, organic way that doesn’t disrupt the flow of the main story. But what really makes the film work is the way that it breaks the fourth wall and talks directly to the audience, referencing itself; such as the running gag about merchandising (“Spaceballs: The Lunchbox, Spaceballs: The Breakfast Cereal, Spaceballs: The Flamethrower”). Brilliant! Delivering a hilarious adventure at ludicrous speed, Spaceballs is incredibly fun and full of laughs. May the Schwartz be with you!
Still hysterical after all these years and all these watches.
So many one-liners and sight gags. Love the 'breaking the fourth wall' moments, and inside jokes that are missed the first few times you see it.
A must watch!
What the hell am I looking at? When does this happen in the movie?
Now.
bahaha
Maturity means realizing this is better than most of the material it’s parodying.
Mel Brooks knocks it out of the park again.
May the Schwartz be with you.
This definitely looked and felt like a Fincher film, and I think that gives it a lot of leeway with folks, myself included. The life of an assassin is made to feel very unglamorous and just like any other job--there's more work than you'd like to do that goes into every major task. And I was fascinated with the somewhat mundane aspects of such a high stakes profession. Fassbender sells it and covers up some weaker plotting. I know many folks have a problem with the ending feeling inconsistent with the rest of the film, and I'm wishy-washy on it myself, but it did feel like he was making a rational (is it going to cause more trouble if I kill this guy?) decision over an emotional one. Possibly? Anyhow, I still found myself liking this for what it was--a flawed but intriguing film from a master of his craft.
WOW, what an unexpected Argentinian gem of a movie, unfiltered with no care for pg rating nor tailoring to a minority crowd, it does not rely on unnecessary jumpscares, horror movie cliches or tropes either. a must-see horror movie of the 21st century!
While it’s opening and middle acts are strong and surprising, Calibre really struggles to find a foothold in its finale, leading to a somewhat fumbled conclusion.
Nevertheless, Calibre is an enjoyable ride that’s definitely worth a go for any thriller fan. Just maybe try Eden Lake if you haven’t already and want to see a similarish plot executed with a little more finesse.
High-calibre stuff - incredibly tense at times, this is one thriller worth hunting down. Definitely worth your time.
I love a good slow burn. This isn't your typical horror film. It really dives into a realistic approach into dark ritual and treating it more like a procedure to follow, something that can be tapped into if you're willing to go through its hard and complex steps. The entire film is about that single ritual. It skillfully builds up an oppressive atmosphere and succeeds in immersing you in its isolated setting. There's a great sense of intrigue as the ritual slowly builds and the details put into it is also fascinating. For me the highlight is the sound design, because that's what makes this film a truly haunting experience. The two leads are absolutely great, and they have this incredible intensity that carry the film through it's slow burn. I really enjoyed this one.
“I love chicken.”
I don’t understand the mixed reviews for this one, as I enjoyed it and found it quite engaging. A one-man show from Willem Dafoe, what more could you ask for?
i can see why people think this movie is boring. but i enjoyed it, not great, not bad either. 7 out of 10.
You may find the movie boring, or you may not. But, understand, it's not about the art, it's not about symbolism (although there's plenty of it) and it's not about whether Willem Defoe is a good actor. Go deeper.
READ THIS FIRST. Look, there is one character. Things happen to him, but not much. There is some dialogue in the first few minutes, then that’s it. From then on, he is talking to himself. Occasionally. If you think this is for you, go for it. If that sounds too weird, save yourself from having later to leave a meaningless review like “that was boring”.
This film shines in some areas, falters in others. Most performances impress with the exception of Rachel—though it's worth noting that her limitations were probably because of the dialogue and story she was entrusted with. Film falters with its excessively dull and cliché dialogues at times, coupled with a sluggish pace. Peter Dinklage, Tom, and Viola are the real driving forces behind the movie compensating for its lackluster and dull moments. Hunter Schafer's performance, too, stands out.
Absolutely pointless movie thats bursting at the seams with side roles and forgettable characters. Waste of money and time. Could have been a decent 6 part tv series if done correctly.
Worst movie to finish this year. Don’t know why i keep trying because all the other ones were also shit
Instead of a good movie this was a poor attempt at getting the movie viral by almost turning it into a musical. Taking away all the parts that made previous Hunger Games great and just milking the fact that people liked that symbolic song. "Well, here, have more songs! Are you not entertained?!"
So basically once again a drunken Tyrion Lannister send a Snow to the night's watch?
with the exception of Two (2) half mediocre, barely 'good' moments from the whole movie; (the arena explosion scene and the Dean's reveal at the end) & some of the wide shots of the setting, this whole film was a mistake and such a waste of time, also a big bait with a cast such as Viola Davis and Peter Dinklage
i can't begin to describe how bad it was, and the singing? holy hell
7/10
The movie was good, but had a lot of flaws. Lucy gray was a Disney/musical character always singing and being betrayed as the perfect person in a children’s movie. The story line of snow is amazing, but felt rushed at some points would have loved to see more of his turn around. What to say about serjanus… dude can you just make up your mind?!? I want this, no I want that, no i want this. Bleh bleh bleh little cry baby with money. Hoping to see more movies about young snow.
The acting of Rachel Zegler was bad, her accent was fine but her face expressions.. it’s not a fucking Disney movie for little girls. Tom blyth’s acting wasn’t great but compared to Rachel it was amazing. Personally not a big fan of viola davis but she delivered her role with perfection.
I give this an 7 for the story of snow, if you take in all aspects this movie is 4 at most.
more like a musical seesh.
One absolutely Thrilling, dystopian movie.
Twists and turns during the movie - I can't believe I hadn't of thought to watch this movie.
I had to watch this for school - And might even go ahead and watch the next movie for the enjoyment.
Had sacrifice - Which was crucial, I have to write about Dystopian books, movies and short stories and connect them all together, for example in this movie was when Katniss stepped in for her sister so that she doesn't have to go - she had faith in herself that she would be able to survive.
Also when Rue created that smoke for a distraction that meant that there was the possibility that she might die, but this overall lead to victory.
9/10 - Great Movie and Highly recommended - Would watch again.
This movie will forever give me the chills.
Katniss is definitely one of my favourite protagonists of all time; she’s strong, capable, compassionate, smart, confident, sweet, brave and beautiful.
I don’t blame our short king Peeta for being completely obsessed with her because honestly… ME TOO!
MUCH more enjoyable of a watch if you've read the book. + something about this movie (especially rue's death) makes me cry so bad
Rewatching the movies before going to the cinema to watch the sequel movie. I remember watching this movie for the first time years ago and being amazed by it. I have felt the same again seeing it now years later. This is one of the first sagas I really got into.
