Bacon pancakes, makin' bacon pancakes,
Take some bacon and I'll put it in a pancake,
Bacon pancakes, that's what it's gonna make,
Bacon pancaaaaaaaaake!
8.4/10. One of the things I love about Adventure Time is it does a really good job of capturing things that feel very human, even within its fantastical setting. We've all played a game, or engaged in some activity with someone who's way more invested in it than us. We've all come up against someone who is both a sore winner and a sore loser. "Card Wars" does a great job at taking the show's two lovable characters and throwing them into those scenarios, where you get Jake excitedly and haughtily telling Finn about the game, and Finn struggling to walk the line between standing up to Jake and setting him off.
It's relatable but also has enough of *Adventure Time*s whimsical flair to keep things breezy. Card Wars itself has the perfect blend of feeling just real enough to be a futuristic version of Magic the Gathering or something, but just goofy enough to feel like a parody and not something you can actually try to nitpick the rules of. B-Mo is adorable, from her line about not wanting to play such games with Jake to the immortal "B-Mo" chop. And Finn's "dweeb" vs. "cool guy" drink switcheroo is the perfect way to defuse the situation with Jake winning. Overall, it's a nice little look at a minor but recognizable moment most everyone has experienced at some point.
What a twist in here
now i have a good idea of what it's like to be afraid of clowns
wait that's how it ends?? that's it??? they're barely resolved harald's story but nothing else? i think the OG series ending got me spoiled cause we at least got to see them find floki in the new world. i wish we got to see leif's and freydis' story resolved, but I guess the ending implies that they go on more sailing and adventure and all that. At least we know baby harald is fine, but Leif went through all that searching with the maps just to get nothing except sailing away in the sunset from kattegat.
And I really REALLY would've liked to see erik get his ass kicked.
this was sadly not worth the binge. Netflix gave the last kingdom one last movie at least.
I thought horny harald would take zoe with him but then I forgot she was just using him as a sperm donor lol
Calling the fight between Harald and Maniakes epic or even great would be an overstatement but at least the guy got what he deserved. I hope that when Leif finds Magnus it will be a bit more rewarding. Maybe he and Freydis will then deal with their father. Those are the things I'm looking forward to.
The whole Kanute succession, althought it was a really good scene, I still don't care much. I was even thinking there could be another show that deals with that part of the story. But maybe there is one about Leif finding the Golden Land. Ahh, daydreaming. But who knows. I still very much like the trio of Leif, Freydis and Harald. And part of me wishes to see more of them then just one episode.
Timelines are a little confusing. Leif appears in Jomsburg, Kanute has already finished the journey to Kattegat (where Leif is later also), yet it seems only days since Harald got arrested.
I'm far from hating the show but I will admit I liked it more when they were battleing and conquering. At this stage it's kind of a viking soap-opera with backstabbing and manipulation. Which would be OK in general but with just about 90 mins left I think there might be a lot left in the open. I know I mentioned it before but the closer we get to the finale the more urgent that feeling becomes.
This was a good episode. It was even a good season finale. But as a series finale it was unsatisfactory and left a lot to be desired.
The cancellation came in October 2023 on X with pictures from the final episode included. So by that time filming had wrapped up. And it doesn't feel like an ending that was written, there are too many open threads. I don't believe that's the way it was supposed to end.
While this season was the weakest of the three with a clear trend downwards from the beginning, I'm not satisfied and hopefully there will be another show. Althought it seems highly doubtful to happen.
bro what did i saaaaaaay. could've been on your way but instead, horny harald had to go and get himself arrested.
also erik the red sucks lol very manipulative
Oh, nice twist. That I didn't see coming. The big mountain of flesh played both sides against each other. Although Harald got suckered right into it. But it was a well executed plan.
Not surprised Godwin sides with the young prince. He can influence him a great deal more then he could've King Sweyn.
I think we all know what Erik is up to.
How could I've missed that Leif is looking for what we know as America? I need to adress my history blackouts.
Finaly the whole England/Kanute plot line is pure boredom. Doesn't interest me at all.
Still, so many things to bring to a close and even less time to do so.
I baptized this second season as Vikings Economy. I haven't checked the budget but it all felt like they had to make do with a lot less money. The production quality has stayed the same but no more big battles or big crowds.
England, and its political intrigue has taken a step back and they also reduced the religious visions.
Religion is still a part of it but we only get 1 "supernatural" scene and most of the time the audience gets spoon fed what the gods think instead of showing us the visions.
Same for London, it is still is part of the show but the focus of this season is on the 3 heroes.
The Freydis story was rather tedious. I hoped we'd at least get to see a more historical accurate part of her life but I guess Flix isn't ready for a pregnant topless shield maiden yet.
I did like the story of Harald and Leif, it reminded me a LOT of The Last Kingdom.
Overall still worth a watch, if you are a fan, but if next season is the last (Netflix has a tendency for 3 season shows) then I hope they crank it up to 11 for the end
While the production itself is still very good the second season just wasn't as exciting as the first one. I feel like I've treaded water the whole time, waiting for a ship to come to pick me up. But it never came.
While the arc for Freydis did somewhat close out within the season, both Harald and Leif fell in the background. They were pretty much traveling on the Love Boat to Konstantinopel for most of the season. It all seems to be kind of a precursor for things to be happen next season. But I wonder if we really needed a whole season to be prepare for that.
Well, time will tell. But while I was very exciting after the first season I'm less so after this one.

As a big fan of Vikings, I was hesitant to check this out because I just didn't think it could ever live up to how great the original show was. However, I'm happy to say that while I still prefer Vikings, the first season of Vikings: Valhalla did not disappoint. As soon as I realized that Michael Hirst was back for this show, I was on board. And he brings a lot of what made Vikings great and applies it to Valhalla. Great action and cinematography, very strong writing and dialogue, and a very interesting story/dynamic fueled by the time period and the great characters. I love how we are going to familiar places but we now get to explore a very different time in viking history. Focusing on internal conflict between pagan and Christian vikings was such a smart idea, and it allows for really interesting dynamics. And the three main characters of Leif Erikson, Freydis, and Harald are all very compelling in their own unique ways. I also really enjoyed a lot of the side characters. The biggest thing holding this first season back for me was the pace. It was so incredibly fast and there were so many things going on. We get at least two entire seasons worth of plot crammed into one season here, so we don't ever get a ton of time to dive deep into what is going on before something else happens and the show has moved on. I think they could have slowed things down a bit, but overall this was really entertaining and engaging, and a really strong first season.
8.0 // Great
I'd be lying if I say I'm overly excited about the story but I do want to know how the journey for all will end. That being said, for a show that's coming to an end at the conclusion of this season they are introducing a lot of new stuff. I wonder how they'll manage to bring all that together within the next 5 episodes.
—Oh, it's a date!
—No, it's not. I'm sure when he said, "Go out" he meant "Go out", not "Go out".
Oh, so that's why I heard people shipping Princess Bubblegum and Marceline like a decade ago when I was only vaguely aware of the show.
"To survive, my people need a phat party club to grind in. That monster's gut was totally excellent."
Liking the Vault 31 intrigue. We are in dangerous territory of falling into the age old cliché romance of the male and female lead character characters though. Let's hope we swerve that and the show does something different!
Also I might still be looking for Person of Interest references but.. The when they were checking out the newly cleaned up Vault 32 after we the viewer have seen the destruction there only days before... And Norm swipes his finger across the newly painted white wall...
Reminded me 4x12 'Control-Alt-Delete'. After the shootout under the stock exchange.
The first great episode so far!
Season 1 was very good. Excellent comradery amongst the Residents.
Season 2 was not as good. Too many sub plots going on for my liking. The episodes were also too long.
Season 3 was much better than 2 not as good as 1. Some of the original characters return all be it in different forms, Neo-Humans!
The final episode seemed a little rushed and was not the ending I wanted to see. Left a few unanswered questions and was rushed leading to some confusion about Who, What and How.
Overall a good series. Worth a watch if you like slow build ups.
The special effects were amazing. :thumbsup_tone1:
As much as I love the show, this season is the equivalent of season 7's The Walking Dead. A first episode that sets up the biggest event in the whole show, proceeded by slow episodes that drag out the story until the finale because they want to tell that story in the next season. But unlike TWD, this season had a lot to like despite the drop in quality, mainly these last two episodes.
Season 4 ends with a really strong episode and sets up the final chapter of the story extremely well. It sucks that we'll have to wait 2 years for it, though.
This episode is the episode i probably watched the most. It used to be one of my favourites. Now on rewatch its still extremely fun but doesnt hit the same way anymore.
What i always loved about this episode is the magical progress where you can see how they get stronger and master more challenges for more powers. The magic powers we're also pretty creative. The end gets a little bit weaker but its still not bad. The frog just annoyed me a little bit.
Overall, still an amazing, creative and enjoyable episode just not as good as it used to.
Final Score: 8.5/10
This episode was very good again! I enjoyed the story and it definetly had some fun moments. It also had a small flashback to when Finn was a child which was fun because we saw how he met Jake (Jakes parents).
The story where the mountain dont want to watch people fight was not bad but pretty basic. But Finn then stumbled across problem over problem and i really liked the creative conclusions to it.
Overall really nice episode but nothing really special.
Final Score: 7.5/10
First time Lady Rainicorn got really introduced!
I love this character and the fact that she has her own language that only Jake understands.
A little sad and emotional episode for Jake but it has a happy end with everyone saying their just stupid again. I had alot of fun with this episode and espacially character (Lady Rainicorn).
The start sequence was great as well. Nothing bad to say about this episode. Just a fun, little story with new character introducemend (i know she already showed up but its the first time she really appears as a bigger character)
Final score: 7.6/10
This episode is probably not as good as the few before that but i still had alot of fun with it. I used to enjoy this episode alot but now i found it a bit boring sometimes since there is not really an adventure. Still, i loved the idea with the business men and enjoyed seeing fat Finn and Jake.
Overall this episode had some bad sides but also alot of good sides. Very enjoyable episode!
Final score: 7.5/10
In this episode Ricardo the Heart Guy appears for the first time. He is a very smart villain who is actually just the heart from Ice King. He tries to steal bubblegums heart but Finn manage to save her again.
This episode was a great introduction to Ricardo who will appear more often in the future. Ricardo is actually a very smart guy so that could also give away alot about Ice King since he is a part of him. I think we will find out more later, but you could already imagine some of this backstory from this.
To be honest, i forgot most of the later episodes so i dont know much about his back story anymore, so this episode is actually very interesting to me.
Overall this episode was pretty good and i think also very interesting and nice to introduce Ricardo.
Final Score: 7.7/10
First off, this is the episode that introduced me to the show, so its very special to me.
The episode was also pretty good. It starts with Finn and Jake rescuing a watermelon called Stanley (which is just a normal, dead watermelon). After that they come across a mysterious thing called "The Jiggler".
I really liked that we got finally introduced to Finn and Jakes home because it also feels a bit like home to me. I saw it so many times in so many episodes and i love it. It feels so comfortable. I also loved the moment when Finn just started singing in autotune because he once swallowed a mini computer. Its so funny and random.
And i think i dont even have to say how funny the "Adventure Time dances" are.
Overall, top episode.
Final Score: 8.0/10
This episode is definetly one of the better episodes! I love the design and creative ideas of the show which you can see espacially in this episode. The scenery is really incredible. And you also have to appreciate how they create a world and story like this in such a short time.
I dont know how often i watched this episode and it used to be one of my favourites. I dont know if I still feel the same about the episode and i dont think it's one of the best of the show but definetly one of the better.
Final Score: 8.6/10
This episode is the most enjoyable but also by far craziest episode yet. Now while rewatching this episode i recognized how disturbing this one is. How do you even think of putting that into a "kids show".
I loved the Evil Forest and they had some really creative monsters there. The ending is very random and leaves us with no clue what is going on but we will find out later in the show
Anyway, this was the first time Tree Trunks (a major character of the show) got introduced and its definetly an interesting character. She is kind of representing Finn and Jakes grandmother.
So i actually read that this episode is about depression which makes actually a little sense. To make it short: The apple pie represents Tree Trunks personality. The crystal apple represents true happiness and the forest represents the long, dark and hard ride to get it. In the end it also could represents suicide. I dont know what i think of this but its definetly an interesting theory i will keep in mind (i also made it VERY short so you have a small idea of it).
Final thoughts: This episode was a very enjoyable, crazy, dark, disturbing, creative and funny ride which definetly deserves a good rating. But i used to enjoy this episode even more so a few years ago i would have gave it a better rating.
Final score: 8.3/10
