The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power: Season 1

I'm not a Tolkien-head but loved the LOTR and Hobbit movies. So I was looking forward to this and was quite positive when the first two episodes dropped. However, things really started to drag in the middle episodes. I think perhaps the last two episodes were the only ones where I got somewhat interested and actually wanted to see what happens next. The cast did fine but honestly none of the characters were exceptionally remarkable or memorable. A single episode averaged about 70min so that was a total of 9h20m of screen time and the overall character and plot progression wasn't worthy of this amount. Perhaps the show would have benefitted from lesser episodes (6) and also lesser characters, which would have led to more concise storytelling.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power: 1x08 Alloyed

A decent enough finale for what was a mediocre season of television.

Love, Rosie

Goddamn this movie is fucking intense. It's emotionally upsetting for the most part with some funny moments here and there, but the ending was really nice. It was predictable but felt very well earned after the insane ride throughout.

The Witch

Loved the eerie atmosphere throughout and the setting added to it very well. The ending scene was especially chilling.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power: 1x04 The Great Wave

I was impressed by the first two episodes but it's starting to drag a little. I'm still invested but the episodes are so fucking long and there are too many storylines and locations to be handled well and satisfactorily.

Brahmāstra Part One: Shiva

This is easily the most ambitious Bollywood movie in terms of VFX and overall production value. There are a lot of great things I can say about it but the one thing that really brings it down is the romance between the leads. It's cringe-inducing and feels quite unnatural as it constantly gets in the way of the movie's lore and world building. The movie starts off great with an amazing fight scene but after that it really fails to reach that same level. The ending sequence is epic in every sense but felt a bit all over the place. Overall, I don't hate it but I feel like its weak points really brings it down.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power

Not perfect by any means but the good heavily outweighs the bad. People acting like it's the worst thing ever just because it took some liberties and is not 100% faithful to the books are so cringe. Even I was super skeptical about it from the promos and posters, but I've completely turned around. This is a fairly enjoyable show and a great accomplishment for fantasy series in general.

Attack on Titan

One of the best animes in history and also the most rewarding show to watch as a viewer. All the pieces to the puzzles and the hints are right there from the start but only after things are properly revealed, it all makes sense. It starts strong and only gets better and crazier as the story progresses.

Better Call Saul: 6x08 Point and Shoot

It's been a while since I've been as glued to the screen as I was while watching this episode. Everyone gives amazing performances but Rhea's acting in the first act was too brilliant. Some of the best I've ever seen. She deserves all the awards. This show has surpassed Breaking Bad for me and has solidified its identity beyond a mere prequel/spin-off.

The Boys: 3x08 The Instant White-Hot Wild

A solid season finale with plenty of twists and unexpected moments, few of which honestly didn't land quite well. Also the story overall doesn't seem to have progressed much from the beginning of the season. The whole plot with Homelander being a ticking bomb is starting to meander and I hope they resolve in the next season.

The Boys: 3x06 Herogasm

Amazing! So much happened in this episode. The characters arcs and turns have been amazing.

Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore

The magic is there, but only literally. The weird ass title is off putting enough and the plot is a snoozefest for the most part. There are a few saving graces though: Jude Law nails it as Dumbledore and so does Mads Mikkelsen as Grindlewalt. I believed this movie would be the one that saves this franchise after the botch job that was the second one. Unfortunately, things aren't looking very good.

Better Call Saul: 6x07 Plan and Execution

Genuinely one of the most horrifying death I've ever witnessed in a TV show. The entire final sequence is scarier than most horror movies these days.
