OK, we tried it. It had its ups and downs but you know what... we're excited for Arc again... for some reason.

When we shout about home AV servers, it's like we're shouting into a canyon. We scream "PLEX!" and an echo rings out "JELLYFIN! JeLlYfIn! JellYFiN! jellyfin! ʲᵉˡˡʸᶠᶦⁿ...." So we listened to the void we scre

How much does RAM speed matter? It's a question we've covered before, but with new platforms from AMD and Intel, and of course the new DDR5 spec, it's time to go down the rabbit hole once more...

Finding a good media center that to store all my consoles, from VR to WiiU, is a nightmare. So I decided why not build my own gaming hub with proper cooling and and cable management. This should be LESS of a headache, right?

As Nvidia fills out its 40 series product stack, we’ve noticed one clear trend. DLSS and Frame-Gen are IN, and decent value, is out. This was apparent on the RTX 4060 Ti, and the RTX 4070. But does the song remain the same on the $299 RTX 4060? And will it be able to compete with AMD’s budget offerings of the RX 7600 and RX 6700XT? Will Intel Arc GPUs show up finally?

Making a Gaming news channel is easy. The hard part is finding some space to shoot it. Despite buying a separate building for our Lab, we have precious little space for more sets. WE got Short Circuit, Mac Address, Techlinked, Tech Quickie and Linus Tech Tips competing for space, it is getting cramped in here. But with the magic of green screen, we can transport ourselves anywhere. But with the BlackMagic Ultimatte 12, we can also do it live instead of in post.

2023x148 The Compensation PC

  • 2023-07-01T22:00:00Z8m

What happens when you sort every Windows laptop in existence by price and buy the absolute cheapest? Well it certainly is pink.

There have been a few tech blunders coming from Iran over the past decade, and the latest one happens to be an FPGA dev board from 2012 that they claimed was used for quantum computing. We bought one off Ebay.

AliExpress is so full of more pirate consoles than you can shake a peg-leg at, but what exactly are they? Are they repurposed Android TV Boxes, or emulation stations running on custom linux, or faithful adaptations of the original consoles with after-market chips? Are the controllers stiff, mush, or somewhere in the sweet zone?

Keeping up with the latest and greatest utilities is an impossible task. We highlight a handful of our current favorites tools for everything from audio tweaks to wrestling with Windows settings - there’s bound to be something here you didn’t know you needed!

in the mid 2000s it was common to cool a computer using a heater core from the scrapyard, but as those have become harder to find and water cooling components became easier to find this fell out of fashion. Could the old ways have been right though? Is it still cheaper to use a heater core to cool your CPU?

In this video, Luke and Linus roast photos and videos of pc gaming setups from YouTube creators, Twitch streamers, and other celebrities. TLDR; people need deskpads.

We bought a once $100,000 NetApp storage server setup for $1000, except, we never checked if any of it works. Today we find out if we got scammed, how it was intended to work, and how you at home can modify one of these to provide a ton of storage expansion for a NAS or home computer for CHEAP.

It’s easy to look at the ‘starting at’ price for a new laptop and think it’s a great deal. But when you look closer, it’s a lie. That entry level config is barely good enough for what you need to do today, let alone tomorrow, and you can’t even upgrade the thing after you buy it!

Apple’s M2 Ultra powered Mac Pro is the final step in their Apple Silicon transition. But without GPU support or meaningful expansion, is it worth nearly double the price of a comparable Mac Studio?

Brands are constantly sending us new products to review. But how do we know they’re not hand-picking what they send us? The only way to be sure is to compare what they send with the same products bought at retail.

he lightning cable is DEAD. Thanks to the European Union, Apple has to swap standards to what the rest of the world has been using for years. But if you want the full BENEFIT of USB-C, you might need to shell out some big bucks for the iPhone 15 Pro…

Foldables are pretty cool, but are they worth the money? Linus has been daily driving one for a few years and thinks he might be able to convince you.

Windows may have changed a lot over time, but old-school Mac OS was a COMPLETELY different beast to modern-day macOS. Can our youthful subjects figure out how to do anything with a system older than they are?

Putting your PC in another room makes so much sense. Why suffer through the noise and heat your gaming rig puts off when you could just…not? But getting peripherals to work from an entirely different part of the house is prohibitively expensive. Or is it? We take a look at some of the much more budget-friendly options available to getting USB working in a completely different room.

500+ gamers brought their setups to game in our Whale LAN party, and they had no idea what was coming. We’ve roasted your gaming setups before, but never have you made it this easy!

Made By Google 2023 holds a lot of surprises that totally didn't leak out in advance. The new Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel 8 and Pixel Watch are all pretty exciting. But can after killing so many products, like Google Podcasts and Jamboard, can Google really be trusted to follow through on their seven year promise?

After dreaming about it for YEARS I’ve finally finished the Ultimate Gaming Minivan.. and its better than I could have ever expected.

It took a while, but we FINALLY have everything here to finish the computers for my home LAN setup, now we just need to assemble them. Should be easy, right?

Between Steam sales and Certified Refurbished units, it’s easier than ever to save money on a Steam Deck. But what could you do with those savings?

The computers are here, it’s time to unbox them and see what we got! Who was fastest? Who had the best shipping materials? Did we even get what we asked for?

Despite it's excellent performance, Linus has had nonstop problems with the Sony wireless surround system we installed in his family room. Luckily, Sony came out with a new receiver that claims to offer the same magical spatial surround sound technology that you can use with normal wired speakers. If only it was that easy.

We are back again with another episode of AMD Ultimate Tech Upgrade! This time we are with Adam. Creator Warehouse's Customer Service Supervisor. He has had one of the smartest uses of the $5,000 upgrade budget to date. Find out just how smart he was with his budget on this episode of AMD Ultimate Tech Upgrade!

After the Sonos upgrade video Linus' computer leaked and sadly is dead... but we've got a whole host of upgrades to the pool cooling loop to make sure it doesn't happen again.

2023x215 My computer broke

  • 2023-10-26T22:00:00Z8m

My computer is broken so now I must fix it.

We bought a sketchy chiller off of AliExpress and decided to limit test it. Will condensation be the end of this build though?

We dig through the Mom & Pop computer shop haul, racing each other and the clock to build the best Gaming PCs we can!

Using the pool to cool Linus' computers is working great... for the computers. For the humans though it is too dang hot.

At their Scary Fast event, apple announced not one but THREE new chips: the M3, M3 Pro, and M3 Max! They're fast, but what's scary? 8GB of RAM in the new base tier Macbook Pro!

Alex wanted to build himself a new racing setup for his. So when we were given a chance to test out EA Sports WRC, we had to see how it held up to a budget racing wheel and our ultimate setup.

Sony doesn’t call it the PS5 Slim, but this smaller console is arriving just in time for the holidays and we’re here to tear it down and see what’s inside!

Apple about to change the mobile gaming scene forever? With AAA titles becoming playable from the same device you binge Tik Tok and text your friends from before slipping it into your pocket, we could be entering a whole new era.

Rumors have been running wild about new Valve hardware, and they’ve finally let us in on the secret. A new VR headset? Nope. Steam Deck 2? Not quite...but we still love it!

2023x224 The All WISH Gaming Setup

  • 2023-11-11T23:00:00Z8m

Listen, I don’t really understand how Wish still exists. Does anyone actually buy stuff from there? I feel like Alibaba and Temu are better deal usually, and both are equally likely to be rip-offs. I guess it might honestly be okay compared to the way Amazon is getting. I digress. We built a gaming setup using only products from Wish. How bad could it be?

There was important footage on Linus' Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 when it went for a little dip in the pool. Can Dan recover the data and save the video?

We can tell you how to build a computer all day long, but for fresh info and some human interaction a lot of people head to the forums for help with figuring out what to buy. But which one will offer the best advice?

Compensator is back baby and this year its wild. Featuring the most overkill parts from the likes of Intel, Nvidia, ASUS ROG, and so much more this beast of gaming rig is going to blow your mind.

AMD is finally releasing new Threadripper CPUs, and they are absolutely bonkers. Should you buy one? If you have to ask the price, then no, but it’s a wild ride and worth watching anyway.

PS VR2? I don’t want to use a Playstation 5. Valve Index? Too Big. Meta Quest 3? I don’t want to deal with Mark Zuckerberg's wackiness. Thankfully, a new headset to end all headsets has reared its tiny little head. The Bigscreen Beyond is an incredible headset with 2 micro-OLED displays, pancake lenses in the tiniest package we’ve yet seen.

Can you buy your home theater setup on Wish? Yes. SHOULD you? Maybe. We ripped out Linus' expensive gear and replaced it on a very tight budget.

Have you ever wondered what Chinese consumers might be buying from their version of AliExpress? We didn't, at least not initially, but when we saw the specs and price of this Frankenstein gaming PC listed all over Taobao, our tune changed completely. What's going on inside this $300 14-core xeon beast of a computer? Who makes these parts? Why is it so cheap? And why is hwinfo64 telling us that this motherboard has specs that straight up shouldn't exist?

Welcome back to Secret Shopper Part 3, where we call up tech support to see if we can get some help “fixing” our computers. Some knocked it out of the park! Some didn’t…

2023x236 Apple please watch this.

  • 2023-11-27T23:00:00Z8m

Our good old friend Keith from the small tech shop we bought out told us this Panasonic Toughbook laptop was indestructible. We don’t think so much. But just how much damage can it take? What ARE the standards for deeming a computer as “rugged”? Was Keith overselling it or does this PC have an adamantium chassis and the ability to regenerate?

2023x239 How is THIS a Gaming Mouse?

2023x240 This CPU is FREE!

2023x240 This CPU is FREE!

  • 2023-12-07T23:00:00Z8m

Who doesn’t like a free CPU? The answer is a bit more complicated than you’re imagining. This computer might look small and unassuming, but inside it is a motherboard you’ve never seen before, a 64-core processor unlike anything you currently own, and the technology behind it could have far reaching geopolitical implications in the very near future. It is the subject of trade sanctions, stock dumps, and could lead us into the next technology-fueled cold war. But can it game?

We’ve roasted a lot of setups, but what about your glow ups? Thank you to all of the community members who submitted their own big upgrades for us to admire or poke fun at.

We partnered with Ubiquiti to host our entire team, and their friends, at Linus' house for a massive 100 person LAN party.

2023x243 This is all YOUR fault.

  • 2023-12-11T23:00:00Z8m

After his unplanned plunge in the pool, Linus asked the community to pick his next phone. That was a poor decision.

We went to AliExpress to find parts to create janky headphones. Yep, that’s right. We thought we could compete with the likes of Sennheiser, Apple, Bose and Sony by creating our on 3d printed headphones using materials purchased from the AliBaba marketplace. And naturally, we needed someone impartial to test the cans, so we got our good friend Dankpods to come out and give em a listen!

Since Alex is our logistics manager, he SHOULD be organized enough to make this AMD Tech Upgrade nice and easy, right? Nothing bad will happen... haha...

If you’ve ever thought about building your own laptop, luggable, or briefcase PC, you probably came to the conclusion pretty quickly that building a portable chassis from scratch is just not something an average person should have to do. But now, thanks to Alibaba’s constant stream of weird oddity computer parts, we can fit a full gaming PC, complete with a desktop GPU, 600W power supply, and ITX motherboard, in a case that’s only slightly larger than a laptop that’s too big to be useful, and only slightly heavier than what would cause an average person to slip a disc.

Looking to get a deal on eBay, Linus purchased an assorted box of high end components. It didn't go well.

Walmart's $20 Google TV streaming device is an absolute game changer, especially as a last-minute holiday gift idea. But how does it compare to other Google TV and Android TV streaming devices? We took a look a look at 9 different models of official devices running some version of Android from companies like Google, Amazon, and... mecool? Mecool? Is that even official?

Sometimes you just need to break things. @Rack's Mobile Data Destruction System is here to help.

It wasn’t easy, but we snuck the biggest TV in the world out of China. IS it a Samsung? Wrong. Is it a Sony? Of course not. Is it an LG? In part… maybe? The 115 Inch TCL X11G Max QD is a Quantum Dot Mini-LED MONSTER and just getting it into Linus' house was quite the journey.

It's finally here, Secret Shopper Part 4! Where we tested all of our $1500 prebuilts and crown the winner. Who could the most winning-est system integrator be?

I bought the TCL X11G Max, the biggest single-piece TV on the market at 115”. Actually, it’s not really on the market as it’s China-only but I somehow got it here and three people mounted it on my wall. But now that it’s set up, is it any good? Does it REALLY have over 20,000 local dimming zones? Are giant TVs going to destroy the market for projectors??
