2 hours of comedy and entertaining action wrapped in a love letter to all the stuntmen
It's a very straight forward light-noir, but fun all the way through because the cast is great and the script is clever. It doesn't overwork itself trying to be anything more complicated than it needs to be and is filled with plenty of fun references and head nods. The perfect level of self-aware.
The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare is one part Inglorious Basterds, one part Italian Job, and two parts Operation Fortune, with maybe a dash of Bond. Although the film isn't as great as that cinematic cocktail may sound, it's enough for a good night at the movies.
Stuntmen/women should get Oscars!
XVI century Portuguese people speak English, for some reason, but Japanese people speak Japanese.
Smiled and laughed throughout the whole thing! It's nice to see a movie that feels genuine again :relaxed:
Went in with zero expectations and The Fall Guy was a lot better then expected. And a totally unexpected plot twist, lots of action and the right amount of comedy thrown in. Totally enjoyable, and another brilliant part played by Ryan Gosling, he played the role perfectly with the right flavor, and Emily Blunt was the right person to play his costar in the movie
Honestly a totally fun movie and shouldn't be missed in the theaters due to the crazy and fun action scenes.
A relatively simple, low-key racket spirals way out of control as an impoverished lower class Korean family smoothly weasels their way into the lives of a wealthy, naive, white collar household.
Unpredictably composed, Parasite effortlessly shifts between several genres, evenly mixing comedy with tragedy and several stops in between. Of the versatile tools in that particular box, the film's at its best on the frequent occasions that it ratchets up the tension. I constantly caught myself holding in a deep breath, completely immersed in the moment and conflicted about the best possible outcome. Not all of those nail-biters lead to fireworks, and the film is careful not to overplay its hand, so that, when the time is right, those inevitable explosions land like a flurry of unexpected body blows.
Its first hour is captivating, as the leeches' shady plot comes together and their long con gains momentum, but the home stretch, with its string of sharp curves and grim consequences, is unrestrained chaos in the best of ways. One helluva ride.
If you're looking for an action and "turn brain off now" film, just don't watch it and spare us the 6-7 hearts review.
I for one, am very tired from 500$m crap like Indi Day and Marvel's poop. So I was very excited to watch this one.
This one is more like Spielberg's Encounters from the Third Kind. It's more about the characters in the film and the amazing journey they go through. It's mostly about the human behavior that will make you think.
While it's not an End of the World aliens movie like Battle: Los Angeles, it still offers great amount of military presence and plenty of stuff that's going on.
So if you actually want to care about an intelligent movie and use your head - go. Otherwise, go watch an X men.
Highly recommended for some audience 10/10.
2-feb-2017 edit: Just came out on Bluray and I saw it again. Definitely keeping my rating.
Watching again at July-2023, excited towards Dune II : Excellent. Excellent film. So called plot-holes listed here are negligible when the overall product is really thoughtful and masterfully crafted.
Tumblr gifs make this movie look way better than it really is.
"Why tell a deadman the future?"
I couldn't have asked for a more fitting finale for this "piece of an art" mini-series. The bar was set high. It could've been either like the GoT finale or Breaking Bad finale. So glad they stayed consistent from start to finish. Undoubtedly, this ranks among the greatest miniseries ever produced.
Many people may be dissatisfied with the finale if they expected to watch an all-out war, which contradicts the entire idea of the show.
It’s a shame that such a beautiful and well done show is littered with such stupid comments about language. Seriously it’s not that big of a deal.
Freddy is up there with Tanya McQuoid for characters that annoy me the most, well done
I have almost no idea what happened, but I liked it. Might be my favourite James Bond film.
Mind f* and retro-modern techno wierd. Exactly how I like it

holy shit, chef
I think watching this episode is going to be a new holiday tradition. Better than most Christmas movies.
This episode should've been named "Toda Mariko". She is one hell of a strong character.
Love the layers in this movie. Couldn't stop thinking about it after I left. I've seen it twice already. In fact, as I was leaving the theater, I saw myself going in and thought, "Man, he is going to love this!"
This episode broke me. Masterful episode!
I won't lie, I actually liked the previous episode more. It was a good ending, but it could have ended a bit further into the future, leaving the rest to our imagination isn't too much of a problem. I could listen to Lady Ochiba's speech for hours, she is magnificent. The conversation between Toranaga and Yabushige was really good too. Thank you for one of the best series of recent times. Here's hoping to see more productions that portray Japanese culture and history in such a high-quality manner...
I secretly wanted Fuji and Anjin to be together, I'm sorry Mariko-sama. (˘・_・˘)
The more I see of this season, the more I hope the show doesn't get renewed for 7th one.
Just end it. It lost its spark awhile ago.
An incredible technical achievement. Roger Deakins's cinematography elevates this decent war story to something that is one of a kind. There is hardly anytime to catch your breath. The score is fantastic. I need to see the making of documentary.
Seeing this again it is still very impressive. The story is fine but the way we are always with Schofield and Blake with almost no relief makes this super tense. The score really is great.
This is an excellent movie that has completely surpassed my expectations. It has lots of amazing action and great comedy and wonderful performances from all the actors involved. The movie reminds me of Kill Bill.
