I was never excited for this show, I am not a monster-verse fan, I think most of their movies are mediocre.
But when I heard this is a tv show I was kinda intrigued, they had more room to try something new. This show has incredible potential considering the premise. It was a massive let down for me, and its pretty hard to disappoint someone who wasn't even excited for it in the first place.
Characters are shallow, the acting is cheesy and the main characters are too dramatic, for a monster show this feels more like a reality tv show, with all the unnecessary drama. Plot is way too basic, they had great potential to make this into a mystery show but failed terribly. The comedy is all over the place and flat-out cringe.
I don't feel like putting in much effort to write a more expanded review so I'm just gonna leave it here.
Reaction right after viewing- [8/10] Emotional depth of these characters is insane, they managed the past present and the future aspects of the story really well, a must watch anime.
4 Months later- [6.5/10] I did not rewatch it, i just sort of watched clips of it and thought about the anime recently and it hasnt quiet aged well for me.. what I said earlier stand, the emotion and the characters are very real, the time travelling aspect of was also well done. I just cant get over the fact that the plot twist were just... nothing special, the final 3 episodes became a bit emotional at the end though I was unsatisfied with the ending.
Without competition one of the best story and character developments in anime, there are no filler nor unnecessary scenes and the 64 episodes are executed really well, the pace if flawless and the characters are the soul of the show. Definitely deserves to be in top 2 in MAL. Although this isn't my favourite anime of all time, deserves to be in my top 5/10.
Even if you aren't a fan of anime, I recommend giving this one a shot, the first few episodes are really interesting, the middle episodes leans more onto developing for a far satisfying ending and the last 20 episodes are one of the best running episodes of all time in my opinion.

Forget about dumb isekai and overpowered anime with convoluted power systems, Frieren is the opposite, a calm slow burn slice of life. It's everything you need from a fantasy adventure.
Great show with adorable stop-motion animation and vibrant colors!
I know just how labor-intensive the stop-motion medium is, so I understand we couldn’t get a full season of 8-12 half hour episodes but nevertheless I was so ready to keep going once this show ended. Hopefully enough people watch this so they can greenlight a longer second season.
As of now, the show comes off as a cute series of vignettes with nice anti-corporate messaging about finding purpose in friends and the outside world instead of getting bogged down by the digital world/capitalism.
I’d recommend this to anyone who loves Pokemon, stop-motion animation, or just an easy relaxing watch. Definitely showing this to my future kids!
Solid spin-off, shares so many things in common with "The Boys". The gore, the dark humour which made the The Boys popular is in this too. The characters are okay and the pace was a bit messy after the initial 4 episodes. Like I mentioned earlier Gen V shares so many things in common with The Boys which can be good and bad. For example Better Call Saul was an amazing spin off to breaking bad and can be argued that it although it was a spinoff it stands out as one of its own. Gen V however feels so much like The Boys which sort of makes it unoriginal. A fun time nonetheless.
7/10
It starts out like this fun, sharp social satire about the different worlds that the working class and upper class exhibit (as well as the lack of understanding they have about each other). As the season goes along, the social satire gets pushed aside and instead it goes completely bonkers with the plot. It’s over the top, it switches genres whenever it feels like it, it’s unpredictable, and most of all it’s very entertaining. In fact, it might actually be one of the most accessible A24 productions, there’s a Tarantino feel to it that might just click with general audiences. I just don’t understand this show’s obsession with alt rock from the late 90s and early 00s. I don’t see what it adds to these characters, it doesn’t comment on the story in an interesting way, and most of these particular songs aren’t even that good. To me it feels like a middle of the road, safe choice for a show that’s otherwise so bold, exciting and carefully assembled.
8/10
It’s well made, I like that they switch up the format just a little bit each episode so that it doesn’t feel like a formulaic cable tv show. The only thing that’s consistent for each episode is the appearance of Natasha Lyonne’s Charlie. She’s fine, I like the gimmick of her character, but not all of the acting choices work for me, and I can’t shake the feeling that the writing tries way too hard to make her this iconic character (which it doesn’t succeed at). Now, because the show is so episodic, the quality between episodes varies quite a bit. Some episodes capture that Columbo fun perfectly, whereas other episodes are hindered by nonsensical structures, dumb/underwritten/annoying characters, corny dialogue (so many one-liners that are straight up groaners) or just a boring set-up. It’s a good thing that the show is heightened and doesn’t take itself seriously, because it absolutely wouldn’t work as a serious drama. Still, would I recommend it? Probably not, just rewatch Sherlock, it’s a lot more entertaining and not as phony.
Fun fact: As of 1/15/2023 this series has lower audience scores than Dragonball Evolution on IMDB, Rottentomatoes and Metacritic lol.
There is this show on the air and people are still talking about "1 billion hours of streaming for Dahmer".
This is an Ode To Television.
Absolute masterpiece, the last two episodes, the dialogues and discussion among them whose plain poetic.
Damn, this was great. Dave Filoni understands these characters and knows exactly where to put this shorts. I want more but I guess we won't get it. Kind of understand it to be honest. This delves into the niches we hadn't seen before gives a little more depth and meaning here and there. Especially showing us more of Dooku, who becomes a far more interesting character because of this, was great.
A real little gem.
Absolute Cringe Fest throughout the season.
Extremely disappointed. It would have been a great mini series if they just stuck primarily to the plane crash story, instead they did too many unnecessary flashbacks of the office & her Dad & Mom. In one episode it just repeatedly flashes back and forth between the present and before. The talking to the dead guy stuff is something that actually worked. Her getting lost repeatedly was stupid when she could have followed the shoreline. The amount of times she fell was sort of ridiculous unless we are supposed to look at this as an action series. The scenery & acting was good though.
This is Mike Myers expanding the "Austin Powers Cinematic Universe" and I'm all for it! It's tacky, it's raunchy, it lacks manners, it's bonkers... It's Mike Myers doing what he's always done best.
It's definitely not a series for everyone, though. It's great for all the 12 year old minds out there, who still giggle at a good dick joke (myself included).
Sadly, the show loses its mojo after the third episode, I barely got any laughs out of the last three episodes. It really could have been so much more.
You have to be a huge fan of Mike Myers and his style of humor. It wasn't producing big laughs for me but it's actually smart below the surface. Could have been a better movie instead of mini series. But if you watch it a couple episodes at a time it's not a strain to get to the end. Which was actually not bad.
I waited months for this, I was so excited! But I guess my expectations were too high... Since sadly enough it turned out to be a bunch of meh... ! It was alright...
