So much ado about nothing.
This is getting crazy now. :fearful:
CW caliber acting/writing. Stargate SG-1 caliber sets. Comic-con caliber make-up/costuming.
...and some of the dumbest Jedi ever...
Peak animation, peak sound track, peak art direction. We are so back!
"Why tell a deadman the future?"
I couldn't have asked for a more fitting finale for this "piece of an art" mini-series. The bar was set high. It could've been either like the GoT finale or Breaking Bad finale. So glad they stayed consistent from start to finish. Undoubtedly, this ranks among the greatest miniseries ever produced.
Many people may be dissatisfied with the finale if they expected to watch an all-out war, which contradicts the entire idea of the show.
One of the worst things I've watched. I don't know if it's the acting, writing or the combination of both but fuck me this show is bad.
Cramming all these plots together is weak and the dialogue is painful.
Don't even get me started on Azula and her crew. Jesus.
Ofc people are excited coz they said the cabbage line. Damn. Talk about easily pleased.
Imagine thinking that combining The Mechanist, Jet, Omashu, and Zuko in the same episode was a good idea :clown::clown::clown:
Awesome start, im going to wait for more episodes before I continue as i don’t usually like to wait week to week for more episodes
Heart-wrenching setup and absolutely beautiful fight choreography… I am well and truly on board with this and would binge it all if it was out.
I don’t know what the overarching story will be (other than revenge and the revealing of this world/character), but I am very much here for it.
Wow Ninja John Wick. Great start I love it!
A man has a code.
This was a very peaks-and-troughs season for me, but the finale kinda locked it all into place and I think I'm coming away pretty positively overall. It's by no means a fantastic piece of television, but it is a good season of Fargo; its core message of compassion and understanding is refreshing and wholesome, even if you have to push through some grim topics and large, heavy-handed American political allegories to get there.
Better be the most satisfying episode of the season, cant wait for Mahito's ass whopping
Not really a good episode. The knife was kinda funny, in a dumb way.
The post credits scene was definitely a Squid Game reference, right ?
I missed Megumi and Itadori fighting together, it was so good.
Never really a fan of a university setting (specially North American ones, the clichés may start pouring in at anytime), but that blood controlling power is dope af and it's what I'm here for.
What a hell of a start. Had no idea where it was going and expected a teen drama cliche at every turn. Was very happy I was wrong
Gen V is the perfect example of exactly how spin-offs should be handled, the new series extends and enriches the world that is so well shaped in The Boys.
You know you're in the world of 'The Boys' when you've got a character going tiny to jerk someone off and you get closeups of a bellend and balls. Art at its finest really.
Can't wait for a baby John Wick cameo where he kicks everyone's ass with his BB gun!
I'll just go ahead and give it a solid 8. For a TV production, this is awesome. Enjoyed the the setup, the lighting, camera works... the cast is pretty much solid too. And oh, they gave us a whole hour and a half of it :ok_hand:
Oh no.
All of a sudden, everything is so badly shot and directed. What happened? So many odd angles and cuts and lines of dialogue! For example, there's a wide-angle shot that makes Usopp's right shoulder and arm look twice the size of the rest of his body.
Out of nowhere some of the characters are very one-note, you could basically describe the entirety of Zoro's dialogue with "I'm edgy, I need a drink."
Usopp's arc was never my favorite in the manga, but they somehow managed to completely bastardize his story in one episode. He's barely the focus of his own introductory episode, and by the end I am not sold on his character enough to sympathize with him.
There is also way too much unnecessary Marine stuff with little payoff.
Why is Koby the one helping Usopp instead of Luffy???
Oddly enough, as opposed to the anime/manga, I feel that the show is moving too fast, not building characters and their relationships properly, which kinda ruins things for me a little bit.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to meet the rest of the crew and the whole bunch of whacky evil pirates they'll bump into!
It's interesting to see them tackle the Buggy arc of all things in this somber, emotional way. It mostly paid off, though I do wish they included the villagers and the Buggy Cannon more. Buggy's actor was delightfully corny (him yelling "SURPRISE SHITHEAD" was very in-character), and Luffy swallowing the map was an interesting twist.
Nami's character portrayal I still find a bit stiff, as opposed to manga Nami who masks her emotional baggage with a glib and carefree attitude. I hope she gets more development in the Arlong arc.
Even though I watched around 100 episodes of the anime a few years ago, I don't remember much of it. So, I'm kinda watching this as someone who doesn't have much of a clue about the source material (though I recognise the main characters, of course). As such, I found this episode to be a lot of fun! Solid action, nice stretchy Luffy arms and well rounded humour. I like the guy who plays Luffy, he's doing a good job portraying the character, from what I remember.
We all know the probability of this series being killed by Netflix after the first season is high, but I sure hope to still be watching more live-action stuff from One Piece in the distant future, as its universe has lots, and lots, and lots to give.
Two thumbs up, from me!
I admit, it's more the anticipation of what this will become (in Dave we trust) as the sheer joy about what it is now. All the pieces are there and they are slowly moving into place.
Once again we learn that an Empire does not dissapear over night, that it's remnants are still working to bring it back. Which makes total sense. I know there will be discussions about and question like "how can this be, why haven't we seen that or heard that before" These shows can delve into details no movie has time to explore. It's more like reading a book where you have to go through a lot of build-up until you reach the conclusion and I like that. Sure, there is a lot of formulaic stuff (add in another lightsaber fight) but the characters all get there time.
I'm really beginning to like Baylan who shows signs of being more then just Morgans evil henchman. His regrets about the necessity to kil Ahsoka had me raise an eyebrow. I like it when those kind of characters get more depth.
Paint-by-numbers hijack thriller. Nothing new or exciting is brought to the formula here, but it's serviceable for what it's trying to achieve. Nothing pops out at me, it's just decent thriller TV. I will once again throw out the usual observation that Apple TV shows always give the good guys Apple products, and the bad guys everything else. I knew the pilot was shady when his tablet was running an unbranded version of Android. Mr. Late-for-his-Flight was also using an Android device. Let's see if Apples insane product placement policy ruins some of the twists and turns in this show.
