You've been asking yourself about 001 all along. who's 001? what happened to 001? where is 001? Turns out it all comes down to 001
IT CAN'T GET BETTER THAN THIS. SUPERB ENDING FOR PART ONE. PHEW!
They fight off the bat things with oars from the boat, but not only did they clearly not dive into the water carrying the oars, they also would not have been able to drag the buoyant oars down to the bottom of the lake and through the gate. (Or did they just happen to find some oars lying around in the Upside Down?)
Also is there no water in the Upside Down? Why isn't there a lake on both sides?
This is the kind of thrill I want in a show or Movie!!!
So many Goosebumps in this episode. Wow!
Glad I live in a world where shows like Stranger Things are made <3
what a banger of an ep, the plot blew my mind off
My score is an 8 because the writing is still solid, I like the world and the character interactions are really great (more Eddie please), but some of the stuff in the last 30 minutes had me scratching my head. Also Hoppers' storyline feels like a complete waste of time that should have ended in Episode 3, and the California boys got shafted for the final half of Volume 1. A bit all over the place.
What a great episode.
The story of 001 was really cool
Great plots. A terrific reveal. Strong performances all around. The Russia stuff is once again the weak link, but even it is pretty darn good.
El should’ve just run away with jamie
Netflix spared no expense on this season’s visual effects. Complicated timeline and multiple worlds sewn together seamlessly
so the rope gets stuck afloat in the gate between two dimensions but people don't
i wonder how that works?
Bro that feels like straight adaptation from the back story of Anakin Skywalker
He's great with the psychokinetic abilities (like the force)
He turned evil
He killed the psychokinetic kids (like Jedi younglings)
He got burned (like Anakin)
This season was great
Why is the rating for this episode so low? It did quite a good job to explain the origin. What's more other storyline developed quite well.
joyce finally seeing hopper again and confirming that he's still alive AAAAAAAAAAH
THE ROTATING SHOT IN THAT BIKE SCENE THAT TRANSITIONS INTO THE UPSIDE DOWN WAS SOOOOOOOO SMOOTH I LOVED IT
THEN joyce and hopper finally reuniting, that scene made me tear up ngl
& i KNEW IT, i f*CKING KNEW ITTTTTTTT, the "number 001 being VECNA" reveal was such a good way to end off volume 1, literally cannot wait for volume 2 to come out
The story of 001 was very well told. Amazing! I can't describe how much I liked this plot. :open_mouth:
Not cool that everyone is trying to get Nancy and Steve back together. When Jonathan isn’t around.
Almost done with Vol. 1 of this season and what a season it's been so far! I'm so in love with the show all over again. Each episode served more of the story and left me wanting more especially this one!!! Steve, can't even explain how much I have grown to love Steve. I really hope he'll make it.
Murray Bauman is so funny
Eleven’s training scenes are genuinely boring me to death. I’ve always hated when the show separates El from the rest of the characters so she can swoop in at the end of the season to save the day; it’s a little contrived and kind of diminishes El’s character arc and relationships with others. I want more depth from her as a person; not just her powers.
Was hilarious to see Eddie.......once everyone else bailed out of the boat....he just couldn't help himself but to follow.
This seasons good but at this point I only care bout everyone in Dustin, Steve and Eddie’s group. Maybe it was a bad idea to put all the best characters together and give them the best storyline, it makes their storyline better but the others all fall flat
i have been waiting for so long to finally see that beautiful underwater shot of the gate to the upside down & steve as he's looking down on it and it was GORGEOUS
then he gets straight up yoinked by that thing and the rotating shot was b e a u t i f u l.
the ending; STEVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Stranger Things usually nails it with era matching products, right down to the tech and cars... Yet they decided to just give up when it came to showing Suzie and her 'hacking'?
All those code elements showing on her screen were way off being invented in the 80s. Decades off.
How hard would it have been to whack together some BASIC or Assembly?
Update - If this comment doesn't make sense, that's because Netflix have made a sneaky update to the episode since then and the code is now more era accurate.
Mentioning Freddy Krueger in the episode after we are introduced to Victor Creel is just beautiful.
Very intense episode. I don't really get the Vecna stuff yet and where it's leading.
Leave my Eleven alone!! Psychological torture I do not admit in here.
absolutely ADORE the rotating shot, right before revealing Vecna on the other side, so so good
That. Was. Amazing.
I had serious reservations when I found out the episode lengths to the episodes in this season. I really didn't think it was going to work at all but, weirdly, the time just flies. Somehow, the Duffer Bros. have created something new here, they've created almost a series of movies. How this works I don't get, but works it does.
4 episodes in and this is the best season since the first IMO and I think this episode is probably the best across the entire series.
Outstanding.
The ending sequence got me all emotional along with the credits music
I was eating a peanut butter sandwich when Hopper found his peanut butter and I've never felt more connected to somebody like that in my life. 10 out of 10. Would eat peanut butter with Hopper any day. Also...lets go KATE FREAKING BUSH. And don't even get me started on Robert Englund. This episode was banana pants awesome.
