Mean female with kind heart and says sus
I love big mechs and magic as much as the next guy but I really wish they would have kept them out of this one.
Even without a lot of historical facts there is enough here to tell a really interesting realistic story similar to Vinland Saga. But they went a different route. One that I personally don't like at all.
The music is dope tough.
One of the best new shows of the last two years to not get a second season.
Just got made at the wrong network at the wrong time.
Never has a show made me consistently smile like this one! So sweet, cute and fun. A true hidden gem! Do search for the "epilogue" about where they are now. It's like a two minute video.
I'm so heartbroken this show was cut short. I feel like I could have watched Evie and Xavier having wacky adventures forever. They fought nearly every episode, and a lot of the times it wasn't over silly things, but core belief differences. But in the end, they always managed to see things from the others' perspective, and that's what infallibly always brought them back together. It was really nice to see them grow closer romantically, but also grow emotionally as people through these episodes. I'm gonna miss them so much!
Seasons 1 and 2 were incredible. Clayne Crawford made this series awesome. As much as I like Sean William Scott, he isn't as good in the role. It's too bad a crappy D list actor like Wayans had to ruin a good series with his nonsense.
I honestly didn't think this show was going to be any good....but damn was I proven wrong. Absolutely love the storyline, characters, and dynamics of the show. Seriously folks, do not pass this one up. Super entertaining and funny with plenty of action!
I don’t get the negativity. Honestly you people are so entitled. The lack of context is intentional and there are several clues as to why it’s that way. It’s not a 50s to show (we haven’t seen them imitate a 60s tv show yet, that’s next week). It’s going to change probably every week, even up to the point of imitating modern tv shows like the office from what they’ve said. And the context is clear enough by the end of the second episode. Even without reading additional articles to explain the more subtle hints, you can tell what’s going on at least loosely. Plus it does a great job lampooning the absurdity of 50s tv and ideals about homemaking and marriage. To hilarious effect
If you take the most obnoxious, self involved, dumb party girl and put her in a TV show, you'd have this. It's just one long story of her whining and doing the absolute dumbest things humanly possible. The ongoing and pointless dialog with an imaginary dead man feels like a filler and doesn't add anything to the story whatsoever.
2 episodes in and I'm ditching this
Really liking this show! It’s like a Canadian Grey’s Anatomy, but focused on the nurses instead of the doctors.
I enjoyed the first few seasons, but it seemed like a very similar formula to every episode. To be fair, I haven't watched since the middle of season 4 because of my issues, so maybe it changed. It seems, to me, that every episode has two things. First, a doctor who won't stop whatever life saving measures they're doing, even after everyone else in the room has stepped back knowing it's too late, looking at that doctor with sad or confused looks. Second, someone else (doctor, nurse, administrator) going too far for a patient, either breaking hospital rules, or breaking "DNR" orders (I swear the DNR thing happens at least 4 times per season). I like some of the characters and actors, but I can't get over feeling like everybody breaks the rules when it suits them, then turns around and gets mad at someone else for doing the same thing, as if they hadn't just done it themselves the week before.
So, Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland create this particular animated series, that gets quite famous.
They need a ridicolous amount of time writing new episodes despite a 70 episode deal they got at one point and I am sure they will never be able to deliver upon just by how much time they need for ten episodes. Then Justin has the "idea" of doing his own animated series that's copying Rick and Morty basically, just without Rick and Morty and without multiverse? Timeline is important here, Wikipedia says, the series was shelved but not for how long.
The art style is the exact same, the randomness and over the top stories are the same, several voices are the same, all that this is lacking is good writing. Solar Opposites, funny name considering the not so much "opposites", is airing on another network. In other words going into competition to R&M. Is this a very elaborate prank from DH and/or JR, even though DH isn't mentioned? Or does Justin want to piss of DH? How's this even legal from a business standpoint?
SO does scratch the R&M itch. But it's nowhere near the greatness of R&M. SO doesn't try as hard, though.
There's almost no continuity. The stories of the main characters are so random, as random as any interdimensional cable episode, there's no point in watching. You could watch any episode in any order you wish, without losing or missing anything regarding the main characters. That makes this series incredibly boring for me personally.
The most interesting subplot, with actual continuity so far that needs a certain episode order, is "The Wall". That part is the best part of this whole season 1 and really a good idea with actual fun, consistent characters. If Cherie survives for revenge in S2 it would make me gladly come back. Other than that I don't particularly care for this to get a second season.
If JR wants to do R&M, he should focus on R&M and push Harmon (and all the other writers) to do more, instead of half-assing his own stuff. Other than that I simply fail to understand why this exists other than to leech off of the success of R&M. Creating an instance of "you like R&M? You must like this, too. It's from one of the creators". But no. I do not like this. I don't hate it, but I certainly do not like it. Would this not rely on so many similarities or be a direct and open spin-off I wouldn't mind, though.
Kristen Schaal should have been cast as the voice of Jesse as well. Mary Mack sounds way too much like her and Schaal's voice would fit that character very well.
Season 2 edit:
Season 2, which is more like S1 Pt 2, has improved on a lot of the early issues.
It's still very episodic without consequences but the stories and the chaotic energy of Roiland seem to fit and work a lot better in these 8 episodes. Korvo, the most unlikable of the aliens, tones down his Jerry-ness by not being constantly obnoxious. Glad they do go forward with evolving Pupa and the Wall substory was - again - the best part of these episodes with S02E07 the best episode of this show so far. Absolutely great how that turned out. Going to bump this from a 4 to 5. First 8 episodes are meh at best (excluding anything Wall related, those parts are a 7 at worst and 9 at best), later 8 episodes are okay and overal more entertaining.
A Cop Drama With Nathan Fillion, I started it watching it because of him and honestly its a pretty enjoyable show with an array of characters. Not your usual cop drama, there is the right amount of humor and I'm liking it and I want to see where this goes. Lethal Weapon is based on the comedy and has some dramatic elements. Chicago P.D. is a serious drama and you get invested in every moment, this one comes right inbetween.
I just love how Nathan Fillion plays his character, just brings me back to the Firefly days.
Will take me a long, long time to catch up. I've enjoyed the first 13 episodes. It's fun and Pirates are always awesome.
This is great quality drama, as you'd expect from the BBC, just sad they had to go with the tired old trope of male bodyguard sleeping with his subject, but I suspected it was coming when the titles highlighted the word 'body'
Started watching initially because of Britt Robertson and stayed because of Susannah Flood (Kate Littlejohn)
Oh well, I guess they were right with cancelling this? SINCE THERE IS NOT FRIGGIN SHOUT HERE BESIDE MY OWN? Where are the fans of this fantastic show?!
Beside Emily Owens M.D. this was a great, fresh and entertaining new medical show with a FANTASTIC cast and it was just axed by TNT without ever getting a real chance... too bad, it will sorely be missed by me and others who highly enjoyed it.
10 Episodes, wow, what a shame...
First medical show to do recussitation according to ALS and not just standing around and administering shocks. Kudos.
I seriously question the rationale behind the ability to be able to vote on an not yet aired shows. Where do people up-voting or down-voting these shows get their decisions from? It's flawed!!
So, two episodes in, I give it a 'good but not great'. I am, however, cautiously optimistic. I think it really all depends on how far they're willing to go with the characters. For instance, I'll be disappointed if Mr. Pickles doesn't continue to spiral towards complete bats**t crazy and they decide to take a more wholesome approach to the story line. Jim Carrey is an amazing resource when tapped properly. The question whether they are able to do that or not with this character remains. The supporting cast is competent, but again, I hope they really let the reigns out on the characters and let this show get as darkly funny and dysfunctional as it can.
Long overdue edit
Things definitely went the way of my hopes in the above spoiler and so much more - including the wholesomeness. Season 1 finished up strong and now, six episodes into season 2, I continue to have my feelers hit in so many ways. So good.
I was disappointed at first. Then it blew me away!
Possibly the worst marketing for a tv show ever. In the first season we won't follow a crew's journey to Mars like everyone thought, but we will instead see people preparing to go there. Their struggles, problems and everything in-between. We won't see what we thought we'd see. Because of that, I was disappointed, but one episode later, I saw the real beauty of this show and what makes it (in my eyes) worth watching.
Having binged it in two sittings, I won't deny that this is a slow show or that - at times - not much happens. But what I won't say is, that it's boring. At the core, the story is about the characters and how they're dealing with the fact that they are actually going to Mars. How it affects not only their lives, but also the lifes of and the relationships to their loved ones.. It surely is more drama than sci-fi, but not in a bad way.
Along the way you'll start to care about the characters and you'll realize how well-acted this show is. With a great cast, the show tells a compelling story. You'll see incredible cinematography not many shows have. You'll appreciate the variety of music throughout; epical, magical, partly eery and mysteriosly beautiful music.
To me, this show was a real surprise and I give it a 9/10. I'm really hoping for a second season!
This first season is 2 episodes of what you came to see, and 6 of something else. I should say I feel like it could have been 3 episodes shorter, but overall even though it was a bit slow at times, it's still a show I would recommend...
If you didn't see too much of the marketing material and aren't hyped about seeing "a series about going to mars", but rather just see it as a story about human struggle (in multiple ways), then this is a pretty good show.
The first and last episodes are good. I mean "crying from excitement/dreading a future without this/wanting this for humanity/loss" good. Maybe I'm just a sucker for tales about human exploration, especially with the space part in it, but I really liked them. I feel like you could maybe make a 3-episode edit with E01, E08 and some cuts about the MAV fuckups/various political stuff and it would make a great tale about a possible future for humanity. The family relationship drama doesn't ruin it per se, but it definitely disappoints expectations you might have going into it.
As a Turkish person, I can verify that most of the Turkish stuff in this show is accurate. They used Turkish actors and proper Turkish dialogue which isn't something you see on every show. Even the Turkish songs are VERY well-placed.
I grew up watching this show along with many others, this was my Favorite, now that I'm in my 50's, I can see the excellent writing and the actors, I loved them all, I hate the 2nd Darrin, he was a jerk character, E. Montgomery, just awesome, Loved Endora, Serena played by Montgomery, Dr. Bombay, Paul lynde was so funny, just great, an awesome show, I also loved I dream of Jeannie as a kid, but it's not quite as watchable as an Adult now.
In my opnion the serie its really nice! It's creative! It's my favorite since my childhood! But it's pretty nice until the moment that the James was interpreted by Dick York after the James lost the fan! start to repeat the stories! Elizabeth is wonderful! So this serie it's fantastic just with a detail.
So I finished Part One and had a few hours to think about it. The show is definitely interesting. It’s not perfect but I see it setting-up to something bigger in Part Two. The first few episode are a bit off, not horrible or unwatchable but, does have some questionable pacing, lack of music, and some of the more direct jokes aren’t as funny as I would like them. A lot of the “good” jokes seem to be sprinkled in the background or hidden inside of other dialog, I wouldn’t be surprised picking-up on new jokes on a second re-watch. That said episodes 1-5 would be a 5-6/10. Normally a weaker opening to a series would lean me more towards dropping, however...
The reason I say the show is interesting is that the trailer and promo material advertises the show as a comedy first with some adventure on the side, however, it’s very much a slice of life series with hints of adventure down the line in Part Two. I wasn’t expecting this and I actually like this angle more. In fact I wouldn’t be surprised if Part Two was exclusively adventure focused. Most of the episodes in Part One are about the daily life of the disobedient princess and falling into situations, all the while adding a LOT of world building. Part One seems very focused on familiarizing you with the world, people, concepts, etc... While this is taking place we get short cutaways to an unknown group of wizards/sorceress monitoring the situation in Dreamland, the main location in Part One, suggesting something bigger going on.
I wont spoil anything at the end of Part One but the world building and hints towards a grandeur story definitely make this series interesting and I want to learn more. Obviously these are just promises for the moment but the care put into the world and the slower pace at the start to familiarize the characters gives me hope that this series will offer more. For now it’s a 6/10, good but until we see the rest I wouldn’t put much into the rating.
Also the 2D animation is very good. CGI blending is better than most shows and a surprising amount of the scenes have a lot of animation in areas you wouldn't expect it. Casual walks in the city treat you to scenes with plenty of bystanders moving and interacting with each others in 2D (some are 3D). Lots of other shows would offer stills & pans so this gives this show's world a lot of life.
Great medical show. I don't know how is possible than they wait months for renew it. Excellent cast and line of drama. I can't wait for season 2!
I absolutely LOVE this series. ECLECTICALLY Cathartic!
One of the truest medical shows out there, not too heavy on the romance. It did slow down and became a bit less in the 3rd season but it was still enjoyable. One of the few shows with heart and feeling that can make a person smile and than 5 minutes later cry
Can’t believe a great show like this would be cancelled, people at these networks are stupid!
So sad this is canceled! It's not the funniest show in the world or anything, and the writing is all over the place, but still, this show really had a lot of charm going for it. I simply loved the cast of characters so much that they made up for the sloppy and at times corny writing. Towards the end of the season the show got a whole lot more funny and their were some interesting character developments happening at well. What a waste of potential. Fox never gives shows a chance.
