This was an OK movie and far above the quality that has been available to watch over the last 12 months. Plot holes by the bucket load and never was there a more insipid villain in the guise of the insurance underwriter.... what did happen to him in the end? Something gruesome I hope; perhaps that was a cut scene.
I feel there was a missed opportunity with the Ice Road itself, more suspense, more drama. Goldenrod was a bit of a twit really wasn't he... supposedly experienced but actually not so much. The best prop has to be the bobbleheads; every vehicle should have one!
Probably one of the best movies I have seen this last 12 months. Haven't read the book, the movie holds attention, the last section much faster paced and surprising actually.
Can I just say... love Brownstones!
I'm not sure there was anything here maybe that hasn't been covered before. I often think that news people in modern times are ruthless beyond belief but actually when you watch historical footage like this you realise they have always been just as despicable.
Even if there wasn't much (if any) fresh discussion here it's still a wonderful celebration of a person battling the odds to become one of the most successful and well loved people in my lifetime.
Believe it Tina, you are The Best!
Great movie from Apple here. I hope it serves as a changing point for some people points of view, prejudices and lifestyle choices.
I was lucky enough to see the Bee Gees in concert in Birmingham, UK in the early ‘90s. One of the best concert experiences of my life.
I believe this film is testament to the view that life is truly what you make of it. 3 brothers who had a vision, a belief and worked to make that happen. So inspirational.
Watching now, this movie remains fairly up to date although the futuristic ‘clans’ seem to have advanced technology coupled with outdated [1980’s] approaches which clash a little.
I have to feel sorry for the worms being used as battle machines and what kind of brother sends a little sister. Into the lions den like that !
Entertaining if confusing at times. Lock-in forward to seeing the new spin on this due shortly
A really enjoyable movie to very likely close out 2020 from my movie list.
Superb animation as always, superb thought and detail in the scenes. The star of the film... the cat! Love the cat - the poise and balance an overweight feline can have on a slim shoulder... wow
On the edge of being too fringe for me.
Predictable story which didn't seem to explain anything, unless I missed it, about why the Earth was damaged and Billions had perished. perhaps I dozed off for that bit of the dialogue [sorry!]
Very scenic film with what is I guess a positive ending - already slow moving, but, it would have been nice to see that they made their second journey successfully; I guess that would have required a film the length of Cleopatra!
The family survived to face a new world.
These end of the world scenarios are all of a type, despite this there was some built in suspense here. Interest was largely held for the full runtime with a few silly moments thrown in; such as the desperate mother and sun hunt tent by tent....
On balance very entertaining.
Could they make this movie today? “Watch this Beth, have you ever seen a Weeble snorkel?”
Superheroes in another sense; I liked but didn't love the movie. The highlight is McAvoy who gives a masterclass in acting, playing more characters than the total of the other cast!
Quality ending although a little sad; not everything in life ends with a smile
A very effective film. It’s a good reason if anyone ever needed one to not buy dolls. I can’t for the life of me understand why she wanted such a patently ugly thing in the first place.
I know there would be no movie without it but I always end up shouting ‘Move out!!’ I mean. Why stay when all that’s going on. I’d be long gone. :exploding_head:
I think the most scary scene was the lift that wouldn’t move, always opening at the basement and then the climb up the stairs being chased. You’d have a heart attack!
An enjoyable movie with an insight into the latter years of this legendry duo's life together. Accurate, I don't know. Whatever the case they are presented a friends, which I am sure they must have been working so closely for the years they were together.
Ultimately, every success has it's day and the 50's wasn't their decade
Story was forumlaic, but entertaining all the same. The now usual on-topic message about the destruction we as the human race have unleashed on our world and particularly our oceans; totally true and I really hope that we can turn the corner and reverse some of this damage. In some ways; it would be kind of nice actually if somone there in the ocean did throw all our rubbish back out at us!!
The visuals in this movie are simply stunning, superb creativity and exxcellent delivery.
I think here they struggled to really illustrate the passage of time somehow; it didn't feel like he had spent 5yrs in confinement. I know it was terrible conditions and yes he was wrongly imprisoned for murder, but, he was a well known thief; so it seems - just saying!
Yeah it's good. Pacing is slow. Maybe not enough action, though, what you do get is very well done and concieved.
This is an enjoyable fun movie, not really the most sinister of plots as such; a hitman kind of stumbles on a plan to hold the world hostage for solar power - very very topical at the time it was made. The inclusion of the sunken ship, also very topical at the time it was made.
Moore is more whimsical then previously, whilst his Bond Girl [can we say that in metoo times] is pretty useless on any level; she berates him for suggesting she be a one night stand and then immediately changes her mind
This is a classic; it's a bit of a long one though, so it's a 2 part watch :)
I've watched this a few times; it never ceases to surprise me how the forces of darkness can cover so much ground, whilst the saviors seem to be caught at every turn
Really enjoyable move that is not so much a sequel as a whole new movie in it's won right to be fair - plus, it sets the scene for a third instalment
Great animation, pretty good plot if a little predictable and with character development, what is not to like. Love the jokes and the 'incredimobile' is of particular note - and - what would the movie be without Edna, loveable and brilliant as ever
So nearly a 9 but settled on 8/10
Would this movie be made today; probably not, not in the same way anyway. Far too many cultural and political hot potato elements.
For me, watching this today for probably the 20th time, I find the New York backdrop of the early 70's more interesting following a recent visit there; it's wonderful to see how the place has been regenerated. I should have gone to see 33 65th street; but didn't
I enjoyed this, if you want a fun 2hrs, nothing serious.
Meg looks kinda real and believable I guess, action is predictable but then thats not really what this movie is about. It must be comedy too, I was laughing as much as shocked!
Statham just has to get his shirt off in any movie he's in, goodness knows how much time that guy spends in a gym or digesting steroids
The biggest shame here, that Q is only seen as a invitee to the wedding and that there seems to be a complete lack of any gadgets
Great appearance by Joanna Lumley, I didn't recognise it as her but those vocal cords cannot lie :)
Most things were squeezed into this film. Fight scenes, car chases, rockets, space, mountains, sea's
Love Blofeld, great character but my goodness that poor cat did not like that explosion; he must have been scratched to pieces!!
So; this is an OK film, quite enjoyable if a little morose in some places. Abba songs are all incredible as always with guest on-screen appearances by Benny and Bjorn
For me, the film clicked into high gear upon the arrival of Ruby [Cher] - on-screen presence in spades and then some with a voice that showed the others for what they are, karaoke at best
Who could fail to love Goldfinger (the movie that is). I feel they had fun with this movie
The first time any real gadgets have been seen, if you discount the pretty lame suitcase given to 007 in his last outing; here we get a car [iconic] with a few useful options added by Q and the first real henchman in Oddjob
Powerful music, great acting, wonderful scenery, gadets, this film has it all in spades
When considering places to visit, the set locations from Bond films are always a hood place to start.
I have to get to see those underground waterways built by the Romans. Awesome.
This film is superb, great characters and story with a shock opening!
I can’t say how many tones I may have watched this movie.
This time, it’s presented from Blu-ray and seems to take in a visual appearance better than ever
I still think Dr No should have played a bigger part and should have had time to terrorise a little more
Seemed a little over long, I lost interest a few times. Predicable rescue and chase moments particularly the climatic ending
Only L&H could get into so much grief with a sneeze
A superb demonstration as to why air beds are not good and why people with no common sense should not have gas supplies
Hilarious as always.
Be Big boys!!
Told by friends and wives to Be Big the hapless two simply need to get ready for a trip out only to be stopped by a stuck boot.
How much fun can you get out of a boot. Swathes if laugh out loud moments that’s how much.
