This is neither an action fireworks nor has it endless battle scenes. You should know that before you watch.
It is a slow build up that can be percieved as running a bit too long. But I really liked it. It's an honest movie, well produced. It looks and feels real. And so does the battle once it takes place. I so appreciate doing this not in CGI but putting the camera right in the middle of it. As for the historical accuracy or how it relates to the source material, I do not know. But it also isn't that important to me as this is a movie that, first and foremost, is there to entertain.
All actors are doing really well but Sean Harris was the one who really stood out in my opinion.
I expected much more from this movie
I think people who votes 8,9,10 don't watch sci-fi a lot. This movie is simply boring. Couldn't bare to finish it.
Some nice visual effects but not a real sci-fi.. slow and boring.
I was never really a fan of the original. This film truly is a sequel to that film. Setting supersedes characters in story. Adult mystery plods along while loud music fills the room. Fans of subwoofers and set design are sure to be pleased, but when the story is about what makes robots robots and what makes people people, wooden acting is not the best approach. 4/10
2 hours later and still nothing really happend...
the movie is so f***cking slow
The sequel to "Matrix" is a huge disappointment for me!
It's a charismatic little tale. I felt like the first act could have been shorter and the third act could have been longer. I liked the relationship between Robin Williams and Matt Damon but they don't meet until nearly halfway into the movie. The movie also kind of ends abruptly but you could also make the argument that was a stylistic choice.
Weak and drawn out compared even to the first one.
Things I liked:
* Trippin' in Mirkwood,
* Barrel-ride,
* Lake-town,
* Dialog between Bilbo and Smaug
Things I disliked:
* NO SONGS!!1!
* 3 of the 5 major plot points are rushed through, culminating in a drawn-out battle/chase scene at the end that, after a while, becomes boring and stretches the suspension of disbelieve to its breaking point
* the added female lead is only motivated by her affaction for two members of the male cast. If you can't handle realistic female characters than leave them out.
Also: HFR+4K+3D makes prostetics look like what they are: rubber :(.
As someone who doesn't care for the franchise, but loves film dearly, this was enjoyable for its technical aspects, but utterly boring and bland as far as content goes.
It looked absolutely stunning, it was cast well and it had great sound design - but the tacky bombast, weak plot(based on a weak children's novel - not 9 hour film trilogy material) and questionable direction ultimately bring it down.
I could have done better on the script
Terrible direction, abysmal scenario, music (from a dj) and dialogue.
Zero plot. Videogame-like CGI.
The camera zooms too much in a lot of situations and the animation is sloppy. Some scenes were filmed with a go-pro camera.
Arthur is a douchbag.
Horrible movie. It has nothing to do with Arthur or Camelot (the title and characters are misleading) , it's more of a mash up of LOTR , Conan , Warcraft and many other movies combined with bad acting and questonable script. Don't waste your time.
Murdered the best story ever told, was like watching his Sherlock Holmes movie, filmed on a gopro camera.
So, the name of the characters, and the fact that he picks up Excalibur from a rock. That's about all there is in common with Arthur's story. Not a bad thing in itself, the story is old and used enough to be told differently, and the movie definitely has hiw own style, you can at least grant it that.
That being said, the intro battle with the giant elephant looks pretty good. Clearly half of the budget went there. Half of the rest went to the final battle with the flaming demon, which looks nice enough though a little cheap and too much for what the movie aspired to be. You can save yourself some time by skipping everything in the middle.
The story and pacing make not much sense. The patchwork of scenes of Arthur growing up is weird. The part before the sword is kinda ok, it would actually have been an interesting story to tell. But after he picks up the sword almost nothing makes any sense, specially the editing .
The transitions of the story are made to the rhythm of video clip. The bad one gives me laughter instead of fear. Huge holes in the script. A waste of time
Watched this movie yesterday in a preview. It's not much more than the generic: Boy loses all, fights evil family, Boy has it all. There's some good humour in the movie, but the story feels very rushed due to the amount of montage style sequences. Good movie to watch on a lazy Sunday, but I would waste my money on a ticket
The plot is a mess, with many scenes that go nowhere. The action is mediocre and cam-shaky; most of the time there is no what of telling what the fuck is going on and where people where in relation to each other.
0 / 2 directing & technical aspect
1 / 1 story
1 / 1 act I
0 / 1 act II
0 / 1 act III
1 / 1 acting
1 / 1 dialogue
0 / 1 originality
0 / 1 lasting ability to make you think
4 out of 10
Horrible action sequences, horrible directing
As a Veteran, I see this movie as a trite play on the hearts of American heart toward Veterans. When it comes down to it, it's a story about a dog and a family that all play typical family stereotypes. This 'Dog of War' also displays skills unrealistic of what a dog can actually do. Annoying movie.
Uninspired family movie, I found this to be quite disappointing. Still, at least Max is a better actor than most of those on screen.
Another great movie, based on a true story.
If you are a real dog friend, you have to watch this!
OMG- this movie should have an Surgeon General's Warning - "WARNING: Can do damage to the FEELS"
I watched this film with my dogs, during a rainy afternoon. By the time it was over, I was balling like a toddler, holding both dogs in my chest, petting them and telling them that I promise NEVER to die on them. EVER.
(To be honest, I think they were pretty happy for the attention).
It makes you cry, to think that for the rest of that dog's life, he waited and waited for the return of the greatest person in his life, not understanding that it will never happen. I am afraid that my one dog (the other one passed away last year) will be like this - he is so attached to me, and doesnt really bond with anyone else.
I cried, every time, admitted.
GIVE THE DOG AN OSCAR
Not really my kind of movie. I can see why some people would love it.
Could have been a decent horror flick if it hadn't been populated with a bunch of totally unbelievable, illogical assholes.
feels like they try to take the style from "the mask" with Jim Carrey, but they just can't bring it home...
overkill!! if you were on the fence with the first, this one is going to push you over.
had to much going on and far too few thread too hold it all together
