An enjoyable movie with a great cast; Jared Leto was amazing as Michael Morbius and I loved his dry wit so much :clap_tone1: LOVED Adria and was surprised by how much I liked Matt Smith’s performance as his was the one I was unsure of.
Also Jared Leto is :type_1_2: and that boy is definitely drinking the blue and/or red to be looking at 50 :fire:
Lupin and Squid Game are both good examples of social media hype being inversely proportional to the actual substance and quality of a show. I was driven to watch both shows due to them being consistently hyped on social media. Both are mediocre compared to other shows available to stream. Congratulations to the Netflix social media team for two viral marketing campaigns.
So what's wrong with Lupin? Glaring plot holes. Ridiculous story lines. Copious amounts of unnecessary virtue-signalling. I mean, there's an episode where the main character makes a switch with an inmate inside a prison during a visit. Are we to believe that this was possible because all black people look the same to white prison wardens? You have to be a brainwashed leftist lunatic to write up a story arc like that.
Then there are all these detectives who keep running into the main character again and again without an arrest. I mean the guys face is plastered all over the wall inside their situation room. Come on! That's just lazy story telling. Now what? the police force is so "woke" that they look the other way when they see a black criminal?
This show is a parody of itself as well, because all the criminals and villains portrayed in it are either black or ethnic minorities. Minorities from a French perspective. If I migrate to France, I'll be an ethnic minority too, in case you're wondering (as in not-white). Then there's the scene where a younger version of the main character steals a violin for his white girlfriend, because the white violin shop owner refused to rent it to them. Yeah! he taught a lesson to that old white dude.... By living up to the stereotype?! Who wrote this garbage?
I enjoyed the pilot episode the most, it's all downhill from there. This show uses a similar soundtrack and cues as Sherlock Holmes to manipulate the viewer into believing that we are viewing something of the same calibre. We certainly are not. I assure you.
Standalone, it's a "meh" movie, really awkward and artificial.
Compared to the 1971, version it's just awful.
All these American animation studios keep proposing "children" (often driven to these movies only due to the abnormal strictness of UK and US film censorships) the same stuff over an over. Yet again anthropomorphic animals, yet again the American silly moralism between good and bad, a plot which does not spark any interest, and also a lackluster animation style. For children and grownups alike, to see good animations go to Japan.
Don’t read the comments or reviews, just fuckin watch it. Not for the Evas, not for the fights or the quality of the animation, watch it for the best delirious poem around, This is not anime or entertainment whatsoever, this is pure art.
I don't understand why everyone likes this show so much, it was really bad I just wanted each episode to end. Their was no suspense at all yet rotten tomatoes gave it a 95% really, it was trash just garbage the acting the fight all lame. So can some one explain to me why everyone likes it so much?
This show is far from over, but it is already the best Digimon since the original series. Turning Digimon into a mystery thriller probably saved the franchise. It's enough of an original story that you don't have to be fans of the original to enjoy it. You may need to avert your child's eyes from time to time as it can get surprisingly graphic for a show meant for older kids.
EDIT: Unfortunately, while still technically being better than most previous Digimon entries, it got stuck in it's own gimmick and couldn't figure out how to be anything more than a Scooby Doo monster-of-the-week kiddie show... with a lot of material that is not appropriate for kids. The finale throwing a curve ball and saying that it was aliens without any setup what-so-ever ended this experiment on a whimper and tremendous disappointment because of what this show could have been for the franchise.
I was smiling the entire movie. The level of detail and care that went into this film is incredible. Tributes from the first game to the last mario game. Yes, it's a children's movie, yes, the screenplay is not a masterpiece and yes, you will like it more if you are fan of the games. But it's a fun ride from start to finish.
Literally the best movie of 2023. It’s all. References, music, VFX, argument.
It’s a damn love letter to Super Mario Bros saga.
The best movie of 2023 so far. Referential and fan service for sure, but isn't that what you want from a Mario movie? I've been pumping this into my brain since I was 5 years old, played every single iteration of the franchise and this was an absolute love letter to the series and for the fans. Those who know, know. Those who don't need not apply.
Was very entertaining for the kids and a nostalgia gold mind for the older crowd. Was expecting to be entertained and wasn’t disappointed. Great cast and they killed. Chris Pratt, Jack Black, Charlie Day just to name some favorites.
looks to be great. but i don't like how short it is. hopefully Nintendo will bring Zelda, start fox, Metroid to the big screen
Pure unadulterated fun for Mario fans of all ages. Leave your expectations at the door and just let this nostalgic experience sweep you off your feet.
Perfect from the beginning till the end.
In the movie you'll find any character and music of the games.
Charlie day as Luigi and Jack black as bowser. Suddenly this is one of my most anticipated films of the year.
You could tell there was some competing creative differences being pushed together, but in the end it was as camp as the old Super Mario Bros Super Show. A fun time.
If you're a fan of the Super Mario Bros games (like I am), love Video Games, or have kids, I highly recommend this high fast paced, funny, and visually pleasing film!
A lot of critics didn't like it, but the Audience Score is at 95% for a reason! I love fun movies at the theater, and I bet you would too!
lots of haters out there, but I liked it a lot. I'm not a big Nintendo fan, but this movie was a charming adventure movie, just what I wanted. it wasn't super funny, but I preferred that, I don't want donkey kong fart jokes or anything, just want them to do Mario stuff, and it delivered. And Chris Pratt was one of the better voice in the movie, everyone cried when he was announced, but he pulled it off.
Great movie . A must see if you grew up playing Mario and all the game’s associated
I was skeptical since the beginning, I’m happy to say I was wrong. Was it a masterpiece ? No. But it was a good movies. I think it was a smart choice to address the voice elephant in the room pretty directly, pretty early so you can put it out of your head and focus on the movie. I’m sure I’ll watch it again at some point and I am open to seeing a sequel should they make one.
I have to thank again to all the "professional" reviewers for the bad scores. Without that, I would not even bother, as I'm not really a fan of Super Mario games. But wow, was this enjoyable and fun. Really nicely done, and they even stuck with the game logic. It has been a long time since I wished a movie was longer.
Fuck this movie and everyone involved in it. You guys should be blackballed over this monstrosity. The constant arguing and loudly narrating everything that was happening by the actors, the ludacris plot with the little girl roaming around the house unsupervised while aliens are about and the jackass son filming it decides to go upstairs alone multiple times to do trivial things in order to put his life in danger, the fact that any rational human being would have abandoned the house when you saw with your own eyes the aliens entering upstairs, totally forgetting they should have left immediately after the first encounter but instead decided to have turkey dinner... I can't even man. This movie is so bad, that I seriously thought I was having a heart attack by the ending because I was so upset with how stupid and unrealistic the characters were written. Fuck this movie. If anyone involved in this project is still working in the industry we are in trouble as a society.
This was actually the worst movie I've ever seen.
Story: what story? It's art!
Characters: Nope. Let's focus on the walls instead.
Not scary in the slightest the only scares were jumpscares with loud music. I didn't care what happened to the two pairs of legs. If you're going to do a movie about a child's point of view put the camera on their forehead, not on the floor. The walls and ceilings got wayyy too much screen time. Painfully boring!
VHS coverage of walls and ceilings
i think i prefer more fast pace movies, but loved the under the bed scene! definitely a really uniquely designed film
This felt like a self-absorbed film school project. Getting to the end was a lesson in tedium.
I can’t believe how much this movie hates it’s audience. Truly aggressively awful and frustrating.
This movie should be called Skidmark
