Akame Ga Kill
I am in the mid of it, and I am deeply impressed. It started a tiny bit slow, but not too much. It is quickly escalating to some extreme scenes. It is about a assassination group killing corrupts in a government city, supporting rebels to overthrow a corrupt government.
The characters are pretty extreme, fleshed out, interesting and come with backgrounds, they don't feel like they are thrown in lovelessly.
There is an openly gay character, a possibly hinting lesbian and trans character, but unlike most animes, I like that they are merely making it one attribute of the characters, instead of the defining one. That guy dude is a bastard of a fighter and is surely remembered by the audience for that and his motivational words!
It is also pretty brutal, for that matter. Albeit so far, still miles away from the likes of Hellsing Ultimate.
Familiar to: Hunter X Hunter, Black Bullet, Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood
Rating: 10/10
Also ich musste echt verdammt nochmal viel lachen. Hätte nicht gedacht das der Film so gut wird ^^
Short stories were fun to watch but the movie sucked. Some scenes were fun but not enough to carry the whole movie
Considering other comedy movies that came from The Netherlands i thought this one was pretty good. The story had a few times that it made no sense whatsoever, but i think that that was not really an issue when they wrote the script.
This movie is doing pretty good here on trakt considering that it is a Dutch movie. Place #6 on the weekly movie chart.
I suddenly have the urge to get a few kroketten and bereklauwen. Maybe ill go to that snackbar in Maaskantje its only 10 miles from where i live :P.
Wow. That was not what i expected: The movie was actually much MUCH better than the second one and on one Level with the first one.
Especially Josh Brolin as the "Young K" the perfect casted K.
Overall a good MIB. 7/10
Funny at moments but doesn’t quite compare to the original film. It didn’t feel grounded in reality like the first film - felt it had potential for more. There’s a lot there but it’s nothing to be exceptionally proud of. It’s “Bad Grandpa” meets “Who Is America?” essentially.
Another fantastic movie from Studio Ghibli that you'll ever want to watch once. This is a film that aims to hurt, and after watching it, I can't see myself ever wanting to watch it again in the future. I still highly recommend it, but pick a good time that you can fully pay attention to it.
After watching this the first thing came to my mind was I'm so privileged I hadn't have to live through the horror of a war. Heartbreaking and moving story of two siblings whose love for each other gives us an example how we, people should treat and look after our loved ones. Must see!
I watched Grave of the Fireflies in the mid 90's and was deeply moved. I watched it again in 2004, then having a 4 year old son, and found it profoundly painful in a way I hadn't before.
A remarkable achievement.
This film was beautiful and heart-wrenching (SO MANY TEARS AND SO MANY SCENES THAT WERE SO HARD TO WATCH) as expected due to the nature of the content. Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones' acting was SUPERB and incredibly beautiful. Redmayne's depiction of Stephen Hawking was absolutely breathtaking, as he brought to life Hawking's wit, genius and uncrushable human spirit through struggle. As well this film allowed me to recognize what a remarkable woman Jane Hawking was and must be. The imagery and soundtrack were also a great benefit to the film. Overall, inspiring and made clearer how little I (and perhaps humans in general) know about the theory of everything...
One of the best shows of the year so far. Only 5 episodes in total & definitely a must watch. It is however a harrowing watch. Like most people, I had heard about the Chernobyl disaster, but didn`t know much beyond the surface level facts. This show really educated me, in a way that was similar to when I watched Band of Brothers. Really well written, acted & produced. It gives real respect to the thousands of men & women who worked tirelessly to bring the catastrophe under control & does an excellent job of putting you into that time period, in a country that was under communist rule. Its scary how close we came to having an even bigger catastrophe, except for the brains & heroics of those people. This series does an excellent job in reminding us how fragile our world is & how we must learn from mistakes made in our past.
I can't think of any TV series that has ever impacted me like this one. I was quite familiar with the true story of the Chernobyl disaster, but the way that this dramatized the event and retained historical accuracy was amazing.
Absolutely stunning pictures of a tragic event. This is frightening and scary at the same time!
Yeah.. this episode was incredible
You know how they say it's a kids movie, but the whole family can enjoy. This is just a kids movie. 4/10
Well to be honest i had some laughs during this movie but its a little bit silly
I'll give it 7/10 just for Rowan Atkinson
Not as funny as I hoped it would be. The ending was a (good) slap in the face though, nicely done.
At first I thought the film was politically insensitive. But then it became something entirely different and the comedy leads into horror. What if Hitler did come back? Would people still follow him? Some of the film was filmed with real members of the public and the reactions 'Hitler' provokes range from bemusement, hostility and terrifyingly agreement! The filmmakers lull the viewer in and then hit us with a punch to the gut. Remarkable.
A very fun caper episode, and I especially enjoy each outrageously pathetic touch they come up for Gavin Belson. Also, man you can tell this is the last season because they just go ALL in on Jared material. Him being disdainful in the background behind those sunglasses, only to break down at the end... lol
It's a solid 10 if only for Jared's awesome break down.
My God, my jaw hurts from laughing.
YES! They're back!!
Jian-Yang is hilarious!!
It's kind of strange not to see Erlich anymore.
God how can this guy Richard can be so stupid !!!
It's unbelievable ...
Come up with an awesome plan, have Richard f*ck it up, have their asses saved out of nowhere, rinse and repeat. I still loved it though. Richard talking to Dinesh telling him to "hit the most densely populated areas" like a suicide bomber was A plus stuff!
An incredible technical achievement. Roger Deakins's cinematography elevates this decent war story to something that is one of a kind. There is hardly anytime to catch your breath. The score is fantastic. I need to see the making of documentary.
Seeing this again it is still very impressive. The story is fine but the way we are always with Schofield and Blake with almost no relief makes this super tense. The score really is great.
Yes Yes Yes!!! after a sh*ty 3rd episode they are back with a bang. my god what piece of art this episode is.
Love you Silicon Valley.
I'm not sure if I've just simply outgrown this show or if this last couple of episodes are actually this weak... I really can't get into them
Studio Ghibli are the masters of animation.
it is eye candy and you loose yourself in the story every film is a work of art.
I think Tom Hanks ought to be seriously considered as one of (if not the) greatest actors of his generation. Just unbelievable.
Howard seems to remain slavish to authenticity, and it makes the film seem mechanical at times, but the movie is still engaging and tense enough throughout, even knowing the endgame. The cast are all around solid, especially Sinise. It's a nice window into a piece of American history.
