Inside Out 2

I work in mental health with kids and teens. So from a professional level, it was really good. Accurate description of the emotional difficulty of puberty. However, I don’t know how to explain, but it was missing the magic of the first one. It was okay though. But the first one has my heart.

Abigail

This movie had me laughing. A lot. Very entertaining, not scary at all. But worth the 90 minutes or so!

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire

This was cute! Definitely would watch again. They did a good job with the graphics and loads of Easter eggs to the OG movies. I really enjoyed it.

The Marvels

I think the intended audience is younger than me, which explains why it didn’t hit home for me.

However what I DID love, I sure loved a lot: Kamala, the Flerkins, and the mid-credit scene.

I think it’s a fun, fast paced movie, and it will knock it out of the park for the more youthful crowd. I just think I’ve become more of a “get off my lawn you wacky kids!” than “how do you do, fellow kids?” and that’s not The Marvel’s fault.

Family Switch

Decent movie. Not great, not great at all. The funniest parts are on the trailer, minus a handful of other scenes that made me chuckle.

Will I watch it again? Definitely not. Do I regret the last 2 hours? Nah.

Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3

I had to call out of work the day after I saw this movie because of a migraine due to dehydration from crying.

I will NEVER watch this movie again. It had funny parts but I’m scarred for life.

Elemental

Visually appealing. Overall boring. I didn’t care for the main character. She was annoying.

Some parts were fairly funny. It was surprising sensual. Not in a conservative-dont-show-your-kids type of way. But in a way that left me with a LOT of questions that probably were more inappropriate considering this is a Disney Pixar movie.

Favorite parts: when the grandmother died and poofed and at the end when the water dude told her that she needs her chimney cleaned. Overall, it was okay. I wouldn’t watch it again.

Shotgun Wedding

Probably my least favorite J Lo marriage movie, but it got a 7/10 because Jennifer Coolidge. “He didn’t RSVP!” - best line in the movie. It was dumb but not the absolute worst. Not a rewatch, but I don’t necessarily regret the last 100 minutes.

Jurassic World Dominion

I watched this literally a couple of days ago and I can’t remember any major plot points… it was okay when it was on, and I liked it. But apparently it was very forgettable.

Five Nights at Freddy's

As someone who works with kids, everything I know about FNAF is against my own will.

The movie was silly. When it tried to be scary it was laugh at loud funny.

It was both too fast and too slow. Clearly I am not the indended audience - which makes sense.

BUT. Matthew Lillard. :clap_tone1::clap_tone1::clap_tone1::clap_tone1: He is so underrated. What a brilliant actor. Love him.

Leo

I woulda liked this A LOT more if it wasn’t a musical. I love musicals but this being a musical took something from it, in my opinion.

The story was cute. Leo is adorable.

Just be prepared for a LOT of singing.

Turning Red

I enjoyed the animation a lot, and the cultural diversity. However, this fell flat for me. Enjoyable but not worth the hype.

Oppenheimer

Incredible cast. Absolutely phenomenal casting.

I must not the intended audience of this movie… or maybe everyone else is just saying they like this to sound smart?

Love Again

This wasn’t a particularly good movie. It wasn’t the worst? Sam Heughan is a beautiful man, even though his character was cringey.

I like Celine Dion, but can I tell you… this movie laid it on a THICK about Rene. She even had a line about how their relationship was just professional until she won Eurovision… it sounded VERY deliberate to distract from the fact that he was a groomer.

Besides them at grossness, the movie was fine? I won’t watch again. But I won’t judge you if you do!

Wish

Maybe it’s my fault for having expectations. Not even really high ones. But expectations nonetheless.

The animation was neat (the background was particularly neat in my opinion). There were two catchy songs that I already forgot.

I really liked the end. As in the credits - the animation there was fun. And they did tie it to other movies/universes and I really thought that was clever.

Not clever enough to want to rewatch.

Dream Scenario

What a weird, weird, weird movie. It had some funny parts but it was just confusing. Not in a mind f type of way. More like a “well… what was the point of that?”

Nic Cage played the part of a cringey old man very well!

I thought maybe this movie was a social commentary on… something? Hive mind, I guess? Cancel culture, perhaps? But it had no meaning, no explanation, no resolution.

It was just an awkward movie that never quite grew into itself. Weird, weird, weird.

Leave the World Behind

Well. That was something, I guess.

First off, the cinematography… that was a choice. It tried to be edgy and fancy and it just gave me a headache.

The story… it had a lot of options here. I didn’t know where they were going with it. Honestly I am still a little confused at what the director/writer created, but alas here we are.

The characters were mostly insufferable. But that means the acting was good, right?

All in all, I will never watch this movie again.

:asterisk_symbol::asterisk_symbol::asterisk_symbol::asterisk_symbol:WARNING: keep your sound remote next to you at all times. In addition to extremely loud soundtrack during the beginning, there is a high pitch noise during the movie that is excruciating.:asterisk_symbol::asterisk_symbol::asterisk_symbol:

My Best Friend's Exorcism

I read the book - I found it really scary but fun. The book, of course, is better - although the dog was brutally murdered in the book, but luckily not in the film. Overall, the movie is pretty boring, and lands flat.

It’s a decent movie to have on the background while you do something else. It’s not terrible but it sure isn’t good. Great soundtrack though.

Fall

What in the vulture propaganda was that?

This movie was sooo long. It was about 1.5 hours but man it felt at least 3!

The main lead reminds me of Kristy Carlson Romano and so that was fun.

The Witch

I love these old films but for some reason I couldn’t follow this one.

Descendants: The Rise of Red

I really love the Descendants movies. I knew this one would have a different flavor since Cameron Boyce tragically died and the group wasn’t coming back.

I appreciated them acknowledging Carlos/Cameron is no longer around, and that was beautiful.

Some of the cast are ridiculously talented. Not to mention Brandy as Cinderella and Paolo Montalban as Charming! But this fell flat, even with my low expectations.

Pretty straightforward, pretty predictable. But I did enjoy it. I’m holding out hope that this is just setting the stage for the real story in the next movie.

One other thing - can someone explain the loss of an accent? What even was that lol

Zombie Town

As an elder millennial, I have been hardwired to love all things Goosebumps. Plus this has Dan Aykroyd! Recipe for fun afternoon.

This movie is about 35 minutes too long. It has some fun campy parts but it doesn’t have enough charm. I loved Lando. He’s hysterical. Amy, played by young Sarah Jessica Parker(I jest but looks like her), is the most annoying character. She’s unbearable (and my threshold for annoyance by those lacking frontal lobes is pretty high). I guess that means the actress did a great job because man does she pull it off.

This didn’t quite capture the Scholastic Bookfair or the ‘90s TV show nostalgia. I wasn’t expecting anything brilliant, but maybe I had underlying hope because of the brilliance of the Goosebumps show that released last year…

Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken

The parts that were cute were fun and adorable. The rest - lame.

Okay to be on in the background while you clean your house on a Sunday morning. But that’s about it.

Haunted Mansion

I hate to say this because I was SO looking forward to it… this movie was so boring and so forgettable.

I can’t even tell you the plot beyond they bought a mansion and it’s haunted.

So disappointing.

Slotherhouse

This was so dumb. It wasn’t the worst movie ever, but it had the most annoying humans characters. I didn’t care if they all died. The sloth was cute. And honestly really impressive with the literacy, tech skills, and murder.

I liked sharknado more, but Alpha is adorable. If I’m going to be killed petting something I shouldn’t, at least she’s cute enough to make it worth it.

No One Will Save You

Kaitlyn Devers is phenomenal in everything.

This movie was… weird.

It wasn’t terrible, per se, but it sure wasn’t good. I did appreciate some of the fight scenes. And I thought there were some creepy parts.

Don’t go into this movie expecting it to be scary. Maybe that was my mistake. It wasn’t. In fact it was kinda dull at parts. It was confusing and weird and sometimes intriguing. But it wasn’t scary.

We Have a Ghost

It was entirely too long. Too. Too. Long.

Great cast. Okay story. The funniest parts are in the trailer.

But man. It’s so beyond long.

The School for Good and Evil

Holy codependency, Batman.

I put this on thinking it would be a series to veg out too, and instead it felt like the longest movie ever.

Best part: when that one gal said she would turn into a cat to sleep under the stove. - there ya go. Most entertaining part of the movie. Full stop.

I wanted to see if this was a nepotism movie or a nepotism movie that was good enough to forget about the nepotism.

It’s the first one. So much of the first one.
