EDDIE MUNSON PLAYING MASTER OF PUPPETS IN THE UPSIDE DOWN WAS LEGENDARY!
"Chrissy, this is for you."
Twin Peaks is indisputably one o the greatest shows ever, however you have to watch it at the right time and recognize a few things.
First off, if you get to the end of the 3rd episode and you still don't like it, then it may not be your type of a show. That third episode is really the point where you find out if you'll like the rest or not.
Secondly, if you watch it and don't like it, then wait a couple years then come back. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have liked it if I watched it a few years ago.
Thirdly there is a noticeable drop in quality about halfway through the second season. Hammer your way through these episodes, do not skip them. I know they are painful to watch but the payoff is worth it. The show eventually does get itself back on track just in time for the final episode to be the greatest episode of any television show ever.
I recommend this show to everyone but that doesn't mean it's for everyone. Give it a shot though, it's really fucking good
It's funny to see bad reviews for this movie, and a lot of criticism towards JJ, but it's clear that all the choices made in this movie was to correct the choices made in The Last Jedi, the movie that was hated by all the fans till yesterday, but now people are praising.
The Rise of Skywalker is a great movie, specially for fans, it's a great way to end this saga, filled with fan service. I don't think I can say more than that without spoiling the experience for everyone.
All the critcs you see here, or on twitter, are coming from people who thinks star wars, a space opera, should be a deep and complex movie with fanfics about romances.
Don’t watch this in theaters if there’s a chance of your friends saying a word.
i think of it like this: if youre going to eat a sandwich, you would just enjoy it more if you knew no one had fucked it.
I can't understand why there's such a low rating from critics and stuff. What were they expecting??
The scenery, wardrobe, makeup, everything is so beautiful and colorful. I felt like I was watching a play, a musical, everything was amazing. Emma Watson was a great choice for Belle, Gaston was perfect, the Beast was lovely as expected (Dan Stevens is a great actor - I might think Gaston was a little bit better though) and you're there for Lumiére. He stole the show for me. Ewan McGregor proves again he's the best, most versatile actor ever.
It is exactly the same as the animation, just some changes. It was a great movie overall, I cried like a baby the whole time (favorite 'Disney Princess' tale right here).
I can't understand why people wouldn't like it.
Just to preface this, I thought A Force Awakens was emotionless trash that undermined the entire purpose of the original three films.
Rogue One was the opposite.
The best thing about this movie was the emotional impact. It underlined the sacrifices made to make the original trilogy possible. Some people have called it long, but that helped build up characters that you actually felt for, and who weren't carbon copy ripoffs (cough cough A Force Awakens). The final scenes as the two main characters face their fate, recognizing that it was worth it, gave such a high emotional payoff. Each major death scene actually made you feel something.
The second best thing was K-2SO. Very funny, and much needed comedic (but not goofy) relief.
The CGI for landscapes and the world creation was outstanding. When I see a movie like Star Wars I want to be amazed and see things that I haven't seen done before. I want to be impressed and drawn into new, beautifully crafted worlds. In this respect, the movie just kept delivering over and over.
The cinematography was great during the action sequences. The sequences looked epic, and the violence and sacrifice felt meaningful. The Vader fight sequence was intense.
It also had interesting ties to current events with its commentary on terrorism/rebellion/weapons of mass destruction. By the way, the science genius character realizing that he isn't priceless in developing some major device is fantastic. All of the movies with "only so-and-so can figure this out" are very disappointing.
The moral message of the movie was also very clear and well delivered.
I really enjoyed the movie overall and thought that it was a big step in the right direction. It was adventurous again, it was sometimes shocking, original, and most of all meaningful. A Force Awakens failed on all of those points. It's good to see a franchise movie that's taking a bit more risk than average. AFA was just like the new Star Trek films, shiny bling low-impact action movies that just happen to be set in space. Rogue One pushes far beyond to show the what drives the Rebellion in a world we know and love.
Despite the fact that I really liked the movie, it had some flaws:
- Tarkin face CGI
- Some of the acting in the first half.
- Tarkin face CGI
- Some of the cuts were really weird and the pacing felt off for portions of the first half.
- Tarkin face CGI
- Forest Whittaker just deciding to die instead of trying to escape.
- Tarkin face CGI
- A few unbelievable plot lines (thankfully most were minor). Like Cassian being sent to kill Galen for almost no reason, and then deciding not to for no reason, and then Jyn forgiving him surprisingly easily. How did she even know that he was trying to kill her father?
- Tarkin face CGI
- Does every Star Wars movie need to have a father character die? Why didn't Cass follow orders when he heartlessly killed someone else in his first scene?
- Tarkin face CGI
- Heavy handed political messaging.
- Tarkin face CGI
- Said "hope" too many times.
- Tarkin face CGI
- You can just push Star Destroyers that easily?
- Tarkin face CGI
- The word "Stardust"
- Tarkin face CGI
- Too many random worlds introduced that you don't have the time to get invested in.
- Tarkin face CGI
- Too much awkward fan service.
- Tarkin face CGI
- Darth Vader's voice sounded off.
- Tarkin face CGI
- Some of the dialogue was really terrible.
- Tarkin face CGI
A refreshing change from mediocre CW-style superhero series. The plot has an arc, and doesn't come off like writers are winging it each week -- some actual thought went into a story. And it's done without the emphasis on flashbacks to create a backstory. Quirky... unique... engaging... worlds better than the cookie-cutter Marvel franchise.
One of the best movies that Disney has made. The visuals and animation is incomparable to any studio (except Disney itself with Pixar) and the story is so well balanced, with (meta-)comedy and drama/suspense mixed so well together. The voice actors really makes you believe in a world where animals can be anthropomorphic and live in a society. A must-watch for children but also anyone who appreciate the beauty of animated storytelling.
What do you call a movie in which fantastic beasts have 15 minutes of screentime, and a character named Grindelwald commits 1 or 2 crimes? Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald? That’d be weird, right?
Pros:
- JK’s imagination. Even when a movie messes up as much as this one does, it’s still one of the most charming and imaginative universes put to screen.
- Pretty well directed with great performances
- Newt (gets more development here) and Jacob
- Queenie’s storyline (if you pay close attention, I think it all adds up)
- The beasts, who are reduced to tools for Newt here, are a fun and creative addition
- The climax, Grindelwald’s speech and motivation
- Visuals, score and CGI (this was especially improved after the first film)
- Action scenes (opening scene and bookstairs chase)
Cons:
- Incredibly incoherent (they really should’ve scrapped a lot of characters and their storylines, in my opinion: Leta, Nagini, the black wizard, and even Dumbledore, as they don’t contribute a lot to this particular story).
—> Also, a lot of scenes are pointless (like the underwater creature)
- Two characters are still incredibly annoying (in my opinion those are Credence and Tina), although I’m not sure it’s the writing or acting that makes me hate them so much
- The ending feels like bad fan fiction; good twists should have subtle hints, JK should know this above anyone else
- Too much exposition
- A few scenes are underlit, or too dark
- Some continuity errors (and no, I’m not just talking about the one that has already been reported everywhere)
- The CGI on those cat creatures wasn’t that great
4/10
Impressive. Maybe a bit too much like a Shyamalan movie, but this had better delivery, which is saying a great deal, and is still very original. Its previews did not do it justice. The movie seems as if it doesn't feel obligated to shock or impress you, but rather draw you in to the story, invest you in the characters, then turn on the afterburners. With an epic final few seconds. In other words, a smart, emotional, well-done movie that ranks as one of the best, in at least the past few years.
So much more than a love story in space (lazy critics), this is a visually beautiful space epic. Its Gravity meets Titanic meets Silent Running. Recommended.
EDIT: upon rewatch, I believe the open bar and pageantry of the premiere enabled me to put on goggles that shielded me from the trainwreck that is this film. Rian Johnson is a sorry excuse for a writer. It will probably be retconned at least 5 times in episode 9.
World Premiere Review: Vague, Spoiler-Free Edition
It was amazing. It still does nostalgic fan service, but nowhere near what Episode 7 or Rogue One felt like. It feels like its own film. It gets a little slow and repetitive in the last half of the first third of the film, but after the major show down in the middle of the film, it's non-stop action that's brilliantly paced. GO SEE IT!
Americans saying that "original" was better than this one. Little do they know that "Alive" wasn't the first film about this accident. Actually, a mexican movie released in 1976 was the first one ever made and it wasn't bad at all.
Yes, this version is slow paced and with less action than previous movies, specially the american one, but technically and emotionally is way above the first two movies. J. A. Bayona goes deeper in the emotional part of each character, this time, using the real names of the survivors, besides, it was filmed in part in the same spot where the accident took place. Hey, we even have cameos of some of the survivors.
Sorry, but people saying this "remake" is bad, is just lazy people that don't like to read subtitles. This movie will be nominated for an Oscar, I can tell you that.
This is a pirate rom-com between Stede Bonnet (Rhys Darby) and Blackbeard (Taika Waititi) and it is so absolutely delightful. It takes a few episodes for the pair to come together, but once they do, the show is dynamite. And I am 100% serious when I call it a romance. Thank you David Jenkins and co for one of my new favorite shows!
I've never been more heartbroken over a character's death like Eddie's last words were the saddest and proudest words he's ever said and yeah i sat there screaming crying sobbing throwing up
The most insane eposide in the whole series!!
No joke, this single episode is the best Star Wars I've seen since the throne room sequence in Return of the Jedi. I can't think of anything else that comes close except maybe the ending of Rogue One.
The first 10 minutes was spectacular! No dialogue, just pure visual storytelling at it's finest. Also, Baby Yoda is too freaking cute.
Piss off. This was not the ending the series or the characters deserved after everything.
The 28-minute cold open of pure homosexualism... I SAID THANK YOOOOOOU!!!!
I enjoyed the tragic, heartbreaking fairytale of Ben Solo.
I would have preferred to see the film follow the more interesting thread The Last Jedi was sewing, rather than throwing in all this crash bang flashy flashy Emperor stuff. But I did have fun with all this crash bang flashy flashy Emperor stuff.
EDIT: After much more thought, I'm incredibly disappointed by many aspects of this film, and it's easy to see a million missed opportunities for the conclusion of the trilogy and the saga. But I see some people love this movie, and that inspires me to view it in a charitable light. There should be more kindness and desire for understanding in film discussion.
28 minute cold open..... Legends Only
That guy who said "age becomes you" to Colin Firth. I appreciate him.
I did not expect to like this one as much as I did! While I would say that the bucket for vampire movies is getting too crowded, I will certainly not fault an entertaining one for this!
The characters are rather quirky and it's shot mockumentary style (like The Office) which might be off-putting for some but you have at least give them credit for going through a variety of jokes here! Oh, and let's not forget Stu! Everyone loves Stu!
Occasionally goofy but cute and fun. DC still can’t do CGI for monsters though. The Seven Deadly Sins look like something from a Scooby-Doo movie.
So they need to work on CGI still. Since Doomsday and Stephanwolf. Either way the charm and heart is what makes Shazam good. It was perfectly cast as well.
I really wish this movie was UNWRITTEN.
