This is a very special film.
It features one of the most charismatic actors of all time, Eddie Murphy, with an actor who was at his height, Martin Lawrence. Coupled with a fine director in Ted Demme and a brilliant, stretching, heartfelt plot line - this should have done more than it did.
I've seen it twice now and it lingers in the memory.
The final 45 minutes has real pathos. The first 30 minutes has stuttering fires and misfires of that Eddie Murphy magic. The bulk of the film though hums along really nicely.
A very special plot and a very praiseworthy execution. If you've not seen it, see it. It's well worth it.
7.5/10
Funny, warm, honest, and realistic. A beautiful example of using comedy to examine hard facts of Black men’s lives in America.
a friend of mine chose this movie for us to watch and let me tell you, at first we were just talking to each other checking our phones etc... but 5 mins in we were hooked! the acting is really good for the most part, great humour, great screenplay, you get the picture. Well if you are still reading this just stopand go watch it. (And if you like Star Trek you'll enjoy it even a lot more than a non fan like me certainly!)
that's how this movie left me, (brain) damaged
mmaculate is a very good horror film. Great cinematography and soundtrack. Sydney Sweeney gives a great performance with a particularly striking finish.
Well, this was a surprise. I've long since grown bored of nun and religious horror, but Immaculate was genuinely enjoyable. It didn't go as hard as it could have, but it went hard enough to be satisfying.
Not a single person in this movie behaved like a person would if such thing happened in real life.
The film has one decent scene. The rest is kinda boring.
They really should disable voting and commenting until a movie / TV show does release.
So, a young man wants to know something about a certain video game and he goes to the book store to buy a book about this game, in 2023? Right, that sounds like a very realistic situation.
Otherwise, it's a typical cliche teenage romantic movie, with a bit of a charm to it.
If you're looking for a cure for horniness then you've found it with this stunningly boring nonsense. Not even Emma Stone can save it.
TL;DR: Deceivingly good trailer, shit movie.
It pains me to write a review like this when I'm a fan of Cavill, Cena and Jackson.
The writer and director just couldn't make up their mind what kind of movie it is supposed to be. They could've gone for: 1) light-hearted spy movie with a few clichéd plot points 2) romance 3) 'normal' type of comedy 4) 'absurd' type of comedy. They went for all 4.
The plot didn't make sense, and they were more concerned with making fun and cool moments rather than a cohesive film. Here's some examples:
Why was Argyle being all seductive to Ellie in her 'hallucinations', if it was just her own subconscious trying to bring back her memory? Why was Aiden shown as Argyle if it was really Ellie herself? When the oil skating scene was over all I could think of was why weren't her knees covered in oil?
The CGI was terrible. Dua Lipa clearly never touched the accelerator on her bike. Even the server room looked bad.
I never thought they could make a 2 hour movie with Emma Stone in multiple sex scene's this bad, but they did.
Such a bad movie! What a waste of time.
I think Kevin's acting is way better than his standups, but this was not it. This movie is a MEH for me nothing spacial.
This movie was ridiculous :rofl::joy::rofl:
An inspirational story of a team who fights back after the grief of loss. Good performances. The story was a re-telling, not a mystery, so there are no surprises as the tale unfolds. I give the film a 7 (good) out of 10, [Drama based on a true series of events]
"Seeing you chop onions is depressing. It's like watching Michael Jordan take a shit."
While this has some pretty funny scenes, overall it just depressed the hell out of us. A couple of things to note: chubby Chris Pratt is best Christ Pratt and this movie is way too long.
Alien universe film order:
1. Prometheus (2012)
2. Alien: Covenant (2017)
3. Alien (1979)
4. Aliens (1986)
5. Alien 3 (1992)
6. Alien: Resurrection (1997)
Spin-off franchise:
- Alien vs. Predator (2004)
- Alien vs. Predator: Requiem (2007)
Extremely unrealistic movie! I mean who would choose the real world over Barbie world
I knew it was going to be bad, I watched it anyway (my mistake)
I went into this with ZERO expectations, I knew it wasn't going to be a remake of the classic. I tried to view this as a stand alone (almost like a spin off/late sequel maybe?) but even then it was just bad. The story is nonexistent, the acting is awful, the comedy is woeful. It's a film that shouldn't have been made, and if they were doing this as a remake it deserved a better cast and a better script to at least make it watchable. I will hopefully forget about this one in a day or so.
Damn, they choose the worst players / actors ever, even Shaq acted better.
This was terrible. This has nothing to do w/ the fact that it's a remake of a beloved movie. It's awful as a stand-alone film. There isn't a single thing funny about this "comedy," and the story is pathetic. The least they could've done was to write an actual script instead of whatever this was supposed to be.
Always tried to avoid watching this movie since it's often considered as one of the best movies of all time. This usually results in disappointment. Not this movie though. It's a 9/10. Some characters are perhaps a bit too cartoon-ish (like the warden and some of the guards), the story is perhaps too positive (although horrible things happen) and the end is perhaps too kitschy but it's also very uplifting at the same time. I enjoyed almost every minute of it. Awesome histrionic performance. I know that there are profound philosophical and religious undertones (I'm not really interested in the latter) and that's why you can probably watch this movie multiple times to decipher its meaning. It's awesome that such a movie was made: it doesn't need a lot of action. It doesn't need t&a. It doesn't need dozens of locations. It never tries to produce crazy memes like -let's say - a Tarantino movie.
PS: is that a realistic depiction of a US prison of that era? That's of course not the point. I know that. This is not a documentary. I still wonder though. In any case, it makes an intriguing location.
The twist ending is the WHOLE MOVIE! It bores you to tears till you get to that part. Argggggh!
For some reason this is one my all time favorite movies. I'm usually a sci-fi, action or fantasy movie fanatic. However, this movie just does just gets me every time, and I watch it whenever it come on TV.
This movie was a 6 in 2011 but a 10/10 now.
