I'm so glad I chose this movie to watch on valentine's day (I watched it all alone cuz I'm single but just wanted to feel the love anyway)
this movie is amazing romance-wise! the acting, the story and especially the humour is really good.. I loved it !
It's an okay Superman movie. I've always found the fight between good and evil (trying to avoid spoilers here) pretty good.
If you liked the first two then you must also watch this one.
Do avoid the fourth movie "Quest for peace though!
Absolutely amazing concert!
Prince at the height of his powers. No other musician/performer has ever had so many talents and used them to this level.
I watched the recently released High-Def remastered deluxe version from Tribune Medien out of Holland.
It looks spectacular when compared to the original video and later 'remastered' DVDs from Japan.
If you've ever sat on the fence about whether you like Prince or not, please watch this concert. You'll see what the fuss is about. An unbelievably tight band, great set list, fantastic stage lighting and direction, and the greatest singular talent music has ever seen.
Prince was a genius.
10/10
Just an amazing piece of cinema. Blew me away.
Such a beautiful movie. Joaquin Phoenix is phenomenal. I loved the aesthetic and the score.
I like his points on this followed up reply to the docmentary super size me but still not accurate and still doesn’t add up like super size me didn’t. I liked the sense of humour side to it all, it made it funnier to watch.
Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence star in the extraordinary science fiction drama Passengers. When James Preston is awoken prematurely from hibernation on his way to a new colony he's faced with a lifetime of isolation on the ship's 120 year journey and must find a way to survive. Both Pratt and Lawrence give excellent performances and have good onscreen chemistry. And the writing is especially smart, tackling some heavy issues and presenting a fascinating vision of space travel. Also, the special effects are incredibly well-done, really capturing the majesty and vastness of space. Additionally, the score by Thomas Newman is extremely evocative; intensifying the action and the drama. While the material may be a little familiar, Passengers is exceptionally well-crafted and remarkably compelling.
Okay, time to cry. ;_; ... what an eye opener! Ugh, humans can be so cruel! If this doesn't make you want to change to a plant based diet, I don't know what will.
an insult to the movie going public, sadly 1 is as low as I can rate it.
Sadly, this is a laughably bad ending to the Rambo saga.
Excellent film which was a surprise for me. I really enjoyed this movie. It certainly held my interest to the end. I loved the world created in this film it was wonderful, absolutely wonderful. Excellent story. Lovely arc in the film. Conceptually it was interesting. I enjoyed the science fiction. I love the love too. Watch it!!!!! Lynn Collins is just hauntingly stunning....wow.
Might be my favorite of all Eddie Murphy's movies. Great lines, great idea, "Soul Glo", McDowells, the guys in the barbershop, just great execution altogether. I'm chuckling just thinking about the scenes again.
Almost 180 mins which feels like 90 mins.
This is just three hours of vulgar, bat shit crazy fun and I absolutely love it. Leonardo DiCaprio should of won the Oscar for the crawl scene alone. Jonah Hill and Margot Robbie are both great too. Even Matthew McConaughey stole his few scenes he was in. Martin Scorsese, I love you. Please keep making movies like this as long as you can.
Very well, where do I begin? My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a fifteen year old French prostitute named Chloe with webbed feet. My father would womanize, he would drink, he would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Some times he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy, the sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament.
My childhood was typical, summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When I was insolent I was placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds, pretty standard really. At the age of 12 I received my first scribe. At the age of fourteen, a Zoroastrian named Vilma ritualistically shaved my testicles. There really is nothing like a shorn scrotum, it's breathtaking, I suggest you try it.
THE Christmas classic in Italy. Can't miss it on Christmas' eve
I've always thought that Eddie Murphy was funny in his movies. I had never seen his standup before so I figured I'd give it a shot. I guess this is from a little bit too long ago. The entire show was impressions of people I'm not really familiar with, including a Bill Cosby bit that I didn't understand in the slightest.
I appreciated the foreigners story talking about how people from other countries only understood his swear words, so they come up yelling "fuck you eddie murphy!" with a big smile on their face. Other than that I think this hasn't aged well and I don't have a proper background to understand his jokes.
Armageddon is one of those effects heavy disaster movies of the 90s, featuring a heavyweight cast and an overly dramatized story. What makes this film special when compared to other similar movies of the era is the somewhat awkward leading trio Willis-Affleck-Tyler, the soundtrack (featuring Aerosmith's timeless power ballad I don't wanna miss a thing), and the terribly aged CGI. And because this movie features space travel there is a lot of said CGI.
I think I can safely say none of the actors rise over mediocrity. Bruce Willis and Ben Affleck aren't particularly famous for their acting skills, and Armageddon is no exception. The story is hardly believable either, but that is just true to Michael Bay's style of making films. It is exciting and huge at times though and there are plenty of dangerous situations - it just takes a good while to get to that point.
"The thing about this form of communication is you're likely to talk about nothing. But I just want to say... all this nothing has meant more to me than so many somethings."
I love Meg Ryan's character, the setting, the development of the story and of course the chemistry between them. But every time I watch it I end up disappointed with the ending. Instead of proving herself to be a woman with integrity (and slapping him for the way he manipulated her), she just falls into his arms unquestionably. Unlike her heroin Lizzie Bennet would have done.
It's one of the few Nora Ephron romantic films I really complain about the ending
In which Meg Ryan is a stalker, emotionally cheating on her fiancee. Tom Hanks is a charming widower.
There are only three movie franchises where the sequel is better than the original. Rocky, Star Wars and Terminator.
This film is the perfect example of the difference between a good movie and what people have come to believe to be good movies.
In a nutshell, the movie is about a money transfer and some overt double-crossing. If you watched this film and think that sums up the movie you didn't see the movie. As it was said in "White Men Can't Jump", some people listen to Hendrix but they don't hear him (I'm paraphrasing).
The film stars Pam Grier as a stewardess that got mixed up with small-time crook Samuel L Jackson. Jackson plays a similar role to what he played in Pulp Fiction but I must say that I liked this role even more. What is better than Jackson in that kind of role?
What makes the movie is the characters. Rather than the movie being about this or that, you get a real feel for the characters. There is a texture to the movie that must be felt to understand the movie. In typical Tarantino style, all of this was completely understated. If this had been a typical Hollywood movie there would have been an affair between two of the leads and the money transfer would have been the highlight of the movie. Not Tarantino - he did it his way.
One more thing. The music is FANTASTIC, both in the songs themselves and their use in the movie. Nobody does this better than Tarantino. The opening five minutes are amazing.
This was a great movie. Unlike his other movies where the action and violence is superfluous and a bit shocking, this movie really shows his skills as a director. The violence is turned down (comparatively) but it surprisingly add more suspense. The wordplay, interactions and tension between all the characters is where this movies shines. Everyone does a stellar job. No character is over played and all feel to fit their roles like gloves. They are real people with real problems and real consequences. And the soundtrack adds to the atmosphere, it makes you think you are watching a 90's blaxploitation flick.
The Hateful Eight
A western "Who Done It?", where each character is equally untrustworthy.
The tension oozes with the great acting and claustrophobic setting.
The camera work was fantastic.
I felt that the narration felt unnecessary.

David Fincher has always been recognized as one of the best thriller/suspense directors of this generation, and "Zodiac" is just one of his great films. The film is without a doubt a long film, but the suspense and the on-going investigation on the identity of the killer really makes you forget the time. Robert Downey Jr, Jake Gyllenhaal and Mark Ruffalo do an excellent job portraying their respective characters. Definately recommended if you like the genre, if you don't have patience for investigaton movies..then don't watch this.
this is definitely one of the best crime/serial killer films i've seen. it doesn't lose itself in the suspence, keeping it pretty straight forward most of the time, while still making your heart race in big moments all throughout. PERFECT ending. Jake and Mark need to be working together more often, they absolutely CRUSHED this film. 100% want to rewatch at some point.
9/10
Utterly engrossing, and a true masterpiece of the thriller genre.
Inglorious Basterds makes no apologies, asks for no forgiveness, it's a no holds barred assault on the senses. Brave, unique and just sheer brilliant!
I hadn’t seen this since it came out and as with most of Tarantino’s work one remembers the key scenes but forgets just how well he writes. I can’t think of anyone who can keep you riveted through 20-minute long scenes of just dialogue, yet this film flies through its 150 minute runtime as if it were half as long.
The film flits between English, French, German and Italian yet Tarantino has his own visual language we can all understand. The devil is in the detail - whether it’s Hans Landa filling his fountain pen or eating strudel with Shoshanna, there’s always something more for characters to do rather than just talk.
Second time around, Inglourious Basterds has firmed itself up as a personal favourite if only for the bar scene and the final 30 minutes.
