my "manually marked seen" plays don't count in the highscore. That is just mean!
I might be a little blinded by it's presentation but Kaiba is creatively told sci-fi story with an unique visual flair and a good soundtrack. The direction should have been even more playful though (just like the first episode) and the finale wasn't the show's highlight but it's still good to see shows like this being made despite not being destinied to become popular.
The main actor is so perfectly cast! The writing needs some work, but when it goes with Matt Ryan, the show is flawless. I hope it gets a S2, because it has potential when they let it be. Also the comics are great, so with that source, there is a lot to work with. The thing is that Ryan is 100% Hellblazer, but a lot of the show is more like early Supernatural.
Someone once told me, television is a flat circle. Every show we've ever watched or will watch, we're destined to watch over and over and over again. Watching this show, sometimes I'm convinced that the creators have lost their minds. But there are other times, I think I'm main-lining the secret truth of the universe.
The violence, the class, visuals, audio, psychology and Hannibal's mind control. It is so beautiful I want to cry. I wish I could go back in time and see it for the first time again so I could cry from the psychological and eye candy this show brings. In my crazy head this places as #1 and best show I've ever seen even above Breaking Bad.
This series succesfully shows the exact opposite of blockbuster movies: Create a great story with mediocre special effects and lesser known actors.
The writers behind this show do an amazing job creating one wonderfull Fairy tale adaptation after another. I did not like their previous work, but I think the writing is getting more mature (but they still make some errors that are frustrating.) But mostly they are not afraid to change major aspects of the fairy tales if necessary.
The creaters of this show also worked on 'Lost' and the 'TRON: Legacy' movie.
I really love how Rumpelstiltskin plays the evil maniac, especially during the first season. But there are more noteworthy roles in there, like the evil queen, her mother, Belle, Hook or Peter Pan. Emma Swan is pretty well played, but compared to the extreme characteristics of the fictional characters she is a bit bland.
The things I dislike most are probably some repeated main themes (family feuds/bad parent-child relations) and that they copy the characters of fairy tales a bit too literal from the Disney franchise from time to time.
Overall I think it is on of the best non-comedy shows of the past few years.
PS. I am glad Lady Gaga never replied on the invite to play the Blue Fairy.
Note: This review was written after watching the first 2 seasons.
Hopefully it's the start of more Stephen King adaption shows on Hulu and also Netflix. This is definitely better than Under the Dome. With a solid plot and fine acting.
Very promising first episode. Looking forward to the entire season. Definitely gonna check out the book.
Tatiana Maslany is so underrated, what a brilliant actress.
I'm on s2ep6 and I don't understand why some people gave it such bad reviews.. The show had to evolve in season 2, I think the direction is just as interesting. I started with s1ep1 yesturday and binged it. I read reviews before starting new shows I binge so anyone considering watching this show.. It Is Fucking Awesome! And I watch alot of tv.
Is it just me or the second season is FAR better than the first one?
I have so much to say about this show and how bad it is. If you want a excellent supernatural drama, then watch this BUT only from season 1 to 5. The fifth season's finale offers a great ending to the show and after that, everything is just plain bad. The plots stop making sense, they bring back characters just to kill them off and introduce new ones nobody gives a shit about. Think about everything that makes the show amazing, all those characters you love. Well, you'll be lucky if they decide to kill them off, because they managed to ruin Castiel and Crowley's characters to a point where I can't even stand them. Season 10's Crowley is just terrible, all he does is sit on his chair in his castle or whatever the hell that is (look i made a pun) and kill random demons. Regarding Castiel, a lot happens to him after the fifth season, sure, but his character just doesn't evolve. This is so irritating because i was such a huge fan of this show but now i feel like i'm gonna have to drop it.
I can only recommend the 5 first seasons, after that everything is just bad.
Just look at the gap between season 1-5 ratings and season 6-10 (or 11 now, since it has been renewed), and really the only people still defending this show are tumblr hardcore fans and shippers.
Where can I find more rare diamonds like this?
I shouldn't have watched the entire season in one day but I regret nothing
A Stephen King and Stephen Spielberg Mix in the style of an 80s show. Beautifully played by every actor, the soundtrack is always on point, beautiful colours, beautiful dialogues. Amazing show. Well made, Netflix!
This is perfect!!!!!!!!!!!! I also loved that final Gollum voice of Vera.
Completely in love with American Horror Story, again! My favourite show to date.
Freak Show isn't half as bad as people make it out to be on IMDB. The first few episodes, while we still have the uknowht around, come close to the Asylum. It's just that as the show nears its finale it loses steam. Dandy isn't that scary, in fact, becomes more irritating near the end. Chester could've been given a longer role to play than to just keep blabbing to his doll.
But Jessica Lange, as always, is the star attraction of the (freak) show. It's worth a watch just for her. Too bad she isn't in Season 5; a guest appearance maybe? The way some of the episodes connect with the Asylum is nice too. I say, skip Coven and watch this instead!
Easily the best TV show in a long time. Superb acting and very intelligent writing.
I will have to re-watch this before the second season because it´s so complex I´m not sure I´ll remember everything when the time comes.
So i just got back from a special screening of the first episode and I can assure you this show is definitely going to be great. As a fan of both Fuller and the book, Gaiman being one of my favorite authors of all time and Hannibal, well, one of my favorite show of all time, everything I expected to see on screen was delivered here. The classyness of Fuller's aesthetic (that was already there in Hannibal) mixed with even more gore and blood serves Gaiman's work perfectly, if you've watched any of Fuller's previous work then you know that his way of telling stories lies deeply on the psychology of his characters and for an adaptation of American Gods you could not hope for someone better. This really is a perfect match and a fan of American Gods (the book) cannot possibly be disappointed in what he's going to find in this first episode. Oh and yeah, THAT scene with Bilquis is there, and.......well yeah, you have to see it. Don't hesitate for a second and watch the show as soon as it airs, Gaiman and Fuller are both geniuses and this series is sure to be incredible.
Top quality series: First of its kind in German TV history. Intense dramatic story about the roaring and challenging years around 1929 time in Berlin. A clear „must see“ recommendation.
I'm a simple woman, I see Matthew Goode, I watch.
Evan Peters plays a crazy, psychotic serial killer a little too well.
this show is definitely a slow burn, but Evan Peters makes it worth your wild with his amazing acting as Dahmer; the entire story is heartbreaking and terrifying.
Still one of my favorite shows, I binge watch it at least once a year when I need a campy/nerdy type TV show to bring a little humor into my life. I admit the premise gets a bit repetitive after a while, but the characters are always amazing. Really wish we could have had a "proper" ending. I personally dislike ambiguous endings although I understand why it might have been done. Still, I would have like the closure that comes after investing so much time into a series.
Anyway, even with all it's faults, it's still one of my top most loved series.
One of the best procedural drama in a long time. Good focus and storyline on the cases with minimal "drama", so much so that the crime dramas that I watched after that did irritate me with all the crazy coincidences and dramatic plot that I had to remind myself that they cannot be compared to what we have in Through the Darkness, which is so real in its depiction of evil in the serial killers they portray.
