Walking out of Warcraft, the overriding feeling is one of a missed opportunity - this is by no means a disaster and there is plenty of potential here. The scope of the film is impressive and it's clear there is a lot of world-building going on here for future sequels. Part of the problem, however, is there is simply too much plot going on with not enough time devoted to a central thread - the director's admission that some 40 minutes have been cut is not surprising. This is a film that has ambition to be an epic, with many threads introduced to carry over to potential future films and glimpses of many different settings in this new world, but consequently there is a rushed feel to the central plot of this film with not enough time devoted to developing the relationships and motivations of the central characters, Thus plot developments and twists whilst potentially interesting do not have the emotional impact desired making it difficult to really care about what happens. It is a shame because what there is here works surprisingly well - Jones' ambition is to ensure the audience is invested in both sides of the conflict rather than the obvious human side. Perhaps there may well be a future director's cut that restores some much needed character work and slows down the pace a little.
If Stephen King and Steven Spielberg had a baby, this is EXACTLY what it would look it.
Geez, this episode was a rollercoaster. I have so many thoughts and I’m not sure if I can express all of them properly, but I’ll try.
First of all, Mon-El is not bad, but he’s not particularly interesting either. I really hope he and Kara will stay friends and nothing more. His scenes with Winn were pretty great, though. And hungover Winn is absolutely hilarious.
Something about Lena Luthor’s accent has been bothering me since the season premiere, and I finally got around to looking up Katie McGrath. She’s Irish, as it turns out. My ears weren’t deceiving me. By the way, is Lena evil? Does she know Kara is Supergirl? Something about their conversation and the way she stared after Kara seemed shady. Frankly, I don’t care if she’s one of the good guys or a villain. I’m fine with either.
Miss Martian is a White Martian! I’m having an aneurysm! I didn’t see that one coming at all. What an awesome plot twist. I really enjoyed the relationship between her and J’onn in this episode and I can’t wait to see what will happen when J’onn finds out who she really is.
"- I offered to merge with her in the Martian way.
- But you guys just met."
I literally had to pause the episode because I was laughing too hard. Oh, Kara.
Dichen Lachman is always a win. Dichen Lachman playing a villain in a red dress with sick tattoos? Double win. I hope we’ll see Roulette again at some point.
Alex „Fight Me” Danvers, the same Alex Danvers who throws herself at aliens twice her size without hesitation, stutters and gets flustered when a pretty girl compliments her. What an awkward baby gay. I love her so much.
Why did Maggie take Alex’s hand? Don’t tell me it was for the mission because there was no need for them to hold hands. I’m pretty sure the writers only threw that in to give me (and Alex) a heart attack.
Of course Maggie has a girlfriend who conveniently showed up when Alex was trying to ask Maggie out. I hate it when they do that. We all know that the girlfriend is just a plot device created for the sole purpose of keeping Alex pining for Maggie for a little longer. They did basically the same thing with Kara, James and Lucy last season, except Lucy ended up actually getting some character development and being relevant to the plot. I’m willing to bet it won’t be the case here.
Shoutout to Chyler Leigh for her phenomenal work. She did an amazing job of showing Alex’s inner turmoil, sadness and disappointment with just her facial expressions as she watched Maggie leave. It was stunning to watch.
Okay, raise your hand if you were surprised by the fact that Julian is Alchemy.
awkward cricket sounds
Yeah, I didn't think so. It was one of the most obvious reveals ever.
Savitar is super cool. Special effects were out of control in this episode.
I honestly laughed at Iris telling Barry that the CSI lab is his life. We hardly ever see him there. I think he'll be fine.
Wally was so happy and excited when they were testing his speed. It was adorable.
Oh, Caitlin. My beautiful baby. I really hope that they will find a way to get her powers under ontrol. I'm glad that the team didn't turn their backs on her.
Barry's confrontation with Killer Frost was such an amazing scene. It was so intense and I was on the edge of my seat the entire time, even though I knew that there was no way they were going to kill Barry. Still, it definitely stood out to me.
I love Barry and Cisco's relationship. I don't want to see either of them sad. Just please, make up and be happy.
Nice Game of Thrones reference there, Cisco!
We're getting the crossover next week and I couldn't be more excited! I love big superhero team-ups!
a episode isnt bad because a character died, fu*k people who is downvoting here and IMBD because of Lexa's death, it was vital to move the plot foward, there was no other way and Lincoln died, yes, but we dont know the repercusions is going to have
also characthers die all the time in shows like this, get over it its FICTION, chill and enjoy the plot please.
edit: WTF with people harassing writers and producers of the show? the fanbase is disgusting
Josh Holloway: acting range of a potato.
It's not very clear what his character Will Bowman is supposed to be. The "cool" dad making inappropriate jokes about chicken eggs to his daughter; the reliable dad making breakfast for his children; a badass agent, getting into the occupied area and even arrogantly insult the guy who's most likely responsible for his abducting; the PTSD-ing dad who lost his son and would sacrifice his life and f*ck over his remaining family just to find him; a sex hungry beast, doing his wife after he was abducted and finally gets home again? Wait, it's all of it? Oh, boy.
Looked forward to this as it seemed intriguing but the pilot does nothing for me.
The directing was awful, skipable and in context absurd sex scenes, other cringeworthy scenes and the plot / establishing was heavy handed and messy.
Cast is full of unknown actors, except for Josh who was in Lost, that yet unnamed woman in that resistance looking gathering who plays Sheriff Mills in Supernatural, the actress playing Lori in The Walking Dead and perhaps Peter Jacobson, who was in Dr. House quite a long time. But while I know Lori from TWD despite not watching that show I never even heard of Jacobson who had a role in a lot of series. I am also already sick of watching scenes with cardboard Gonzalo Menendez in it.
Too bad.
Just a spectacular, beautiful and mesmerizing anime. I was initially hesitant to start this because it seemed like it wouldn't be too exciting and able to hold my interest well but I instantly became addicted. It's a very easy show to watch as each episode is a story contained within itself, has its own theme, and you really don't encounter the same thing twice. Also, not all the stories end up happily and some are just heartbreaking which lend to keeping everything fresh. The creators masterfully created this world filled and thriving with mushi that just immerses you completely. Ginko is the perfect MC for the tone and themes of Mushi-shi with his calm, gentle and understanding nature. The only complaint I had was that literally every main male and female character looks the same (I honestly couldn't tell anyone apart between 75% of the different episodes). This is definitely up there on my list and a very relaxing and magical journey that is a very easy watch.
Having finally finished my slow burn of this series all I can do is agree with other comments here. This series offers a sense of tranquillity when watching that I have rarely seen anywhere else. You just get absorbed into sometimes dreamlike atmosphere of it all. Each episode is somewhat self-contained and you really never know how it will end. Some end on a happy note, some on a sorrowful one, some are more ambiguous or bitersweet.
The message throughout is very much that Mushi are not malevolent or evil, they are just like forces of nature, and can be harmful or helpful to humans. Each story is more about how people deal with these things, with Ginko travelling around and helping where he can.
With a second season just around the corner all I can really do is repeat other people's recommendations - if you haven't already, watch this series.
Action scenes 8\10
Animation 8\10 (except splinter maybe)
Megan Fox 7\10
Story 3\10.
Why does this always happen? Extremely large budget movies have terrible, terrible stories.
One would think that an essence of a movie is the story it's trying to tell, and all the other elements like: special effects, choreography, soundtrack, and so on are there to enforce and help the storytelling. Here it seems that the story is just there to excuse why the fight\action scenes are happening.
When I was watching this, I could hear this conversation in my mind.
-"Mr writer, we want a fight scene here, and a car chase there, make something up."
-"But Sir, it's not making sense story wise."
-"I don't care! We need to have explosions and fights in the trailer! Explosions and fights sell movie tickets, not stories!"
There are a lot of plot holes and nonsensical stuff going on in this movie, here are some that bugged me especially:
1)
Master Splinter learned Martial Arts form a book:
My problem is not that it is logically improbable, but rather that it lacks epicness in the character background.
How did Shredder learn Martial Arts ?
Well he is a Japanese Master who dedicated his life to learning martial arts. He practiced from early age and was instructed by the most knowledgeable masters in Japan.
(Btw why would a Japanese crime lord/Clan leader call himself 'Shredder' in english? But I digress.)
How did Splinter learn Martial Arts?
Well He found a martial arts book with drawings in the sewer.
You see what I mean? It’s not Epic, not Awesome, and yes does not make logical sense.
2)
April's stupid behavior when trying to prove the existence of the crime fighting vigilante:
April being a reporter, wants to air a story about the vigilante ninja turtles who fight back against the bad guys. She knows they exist because she saw them first hand, and also she managed to take an obscure photo of them.
When trying to convince her editor about their existences, she mumbles about some symbols the turtles are leaving as their calling card, about how she saw them and how they fight against evil, but when asked for proof, April comes empty.
So of course she gets fired(I assume because the editor thinks she is crazy.).
In the next scene she goes to an insanely rich guy's house who has been working with her now dead father in the past(Oh, I wonder how would that come to play later).
This guy is obviously a bad guy(I mean seriously, you can figure out he is evil from the first time he appears on screen). So she arrives at his house and shows him the picture of the turtles she had taken.
I’ll say it again, she shows him the proof her editor wanted to see just a few minutes ago, but somehow April forgot about that. For some reason she thought “Look at all those symbols around the city, they must be somehow connected to the vigilante.” Is a much more convincing argument then “Here is a freaking picture of them! Look!”.
Did she forget about the existence of this photo ? Did getting fired jogged her memory?
3)
Evil guys motivation for being well... Evil.
The first two points I can forgive, but this one really ruined the movie for me.
This movie doesn't offer any explanation why the bad guys want to 'Take over the world' or New York city in this case. There is no sense of what they are trying to achieve besides being evil just for the sake of it.
Their plan is to release a poison in New York and because they have the only antidote to it, they would sell it or get a government contract to manufacture it or whatever, and the rich guy would become rich-er while Shredder's clan would get to "rule".
Let's ignore for a second that this particular evil plan was used to death, what's the point of this? What will you gain?
Let's say it works and you do get rich-er ... But you are filthy rich as it is, and you already have like 10 companies who have their hands in all the pots.
There is: Obviously-Evil-Guy's construction company,Obviously-Evil-Guy's medical company, Obviously-Evil-Guy's science company and so on.
What would be the point of your evil plan if you already have all that?
And what is Shredder's motivation in all this? So the obviously evil rich guy gets rich-er and Shredder gets what exactly? He could rule the city? What that even mean? What would he gain from ruling it? What's the point of ruling a city that you just bombed with chemical weapons and killed half the population?
Also what do you mean by ruling? What like a king? You want to be the King of New York? To what end ?
If by 'ruling' you mean being the dominant criminal gang, than thats what you already are…
So the dominant criminal gang leader wants to attack the city with chemical weapons so his gang could become the dominant criminal gang in the city and he would be the dominant criminal gang leader ? Makes no sense whatsoever.
My opinion about whether or not this movie would be better without Megan Fox:
Short Answer:No.
This movie has so many faults that with or without Megan Fox it's pretty bad.If the writing budget was cut because how much it costs to bring Megan Fox onboard than perhaps it could be better. That being said, I don't think she did a bad job.Her acting was fine, I didn't feel like it was urged or artificial too much.Except for the scene in the beginning where April is reporting about ‘bird summer fitness’ or something. However I think the acting in that scene was bad intentionally. Showing that the character of April does not really wants to do this kind of work.
Being a bad actor is not the same as being an actor who plays a character who is a bad actor.
In conclusion, if what you want in your movies is fight scenes, car chases and awesome cgi, this is a movie for you.
If on the other hand you have a brain, and it bugs you when a movie makes zero sense, then don’t bother.
George R. R. Martin should take a page from this episode's perspective. This was amazing!
Father fixes the fence just to kill his family later. And his son makes a very irrational decision. Jup, TWD logic is back. Just waiting for the return of the ninja zombies now.
Scifi gets to do this crap and Ascension doesn't even get a second season? WTF? This was awful. Terrible. I need to be commited to suicide watch over this, that kind of terrible. Charles f*ing Dance is in this show, how did anyone sell this to him? I mean, I should be hiring that genius to my mkt team. Obviously.
this better not end up being another "Ascension"
Edit: well it didn't end up being another "Ascension"
Sceptical, this is starting to remind me more of the weaker plots in Heroes. Not something for a reboot hoping to be relevant
Praise be to the Lord/Allah/Buddha/Tom Cruise/Oprah!! Mushi-shi is getting a 2nd season (a full 2 cour) that is starting this coming April. Ginko be doin' work again in 2014 and it will be glorious.

Rosario Dawson Ex Machina!
PS: the best fight so far in the show, against the drunken monkey style guy.
Today on AMC's The Walking Dead: Watch Daryl getting humiliated for 40 minutes. Yawn.
Well that's 40 minutes thrown away. Literally nothing happens. Except we see that Dwight also has feelings and that Daryl is still himself. But that's nothing new.
Also they should find a reason to cut Daryl's hair. His face is constantly so covered that it doesn't matter if it's Norman Reedus acting anymore.
If "The Scarf" was a real book I'd definitely read it.
Pretty solid episode though I feel it's too bad Stryker took the place of Cottonmouth. It basically winded down to the main villain having daddy issues, enough so that he wants to kill his half brother. Other than that the acting, the music, the atmosphere. It's all there and it has been very enjoyable to watch!
You know who I love? Alex Danvers. Any episode where she gets her own scenes is a good episode in my book. Which is kind of sad, actually - she's a main character after all, arguably the most important one after Kara, and yet practically all of her storylines revolve around her sister. The showrunners promised that we would get to know Alex more this season and see more of her personal life, so I'm waiting for that. And I'm really happy that they acknowledged Alex's problems with Clark because she's right. 12-year-old Kara was willing to take care of baby Kal, but Clark, who was a grown-ass man when her pod landed, immediately dropped his cousin off at the Danvers family's doorstep like a stray puppy. Alex has dedicated her whole life to Kara while Clark has been flying around, showing up once in a blue moon. What's up with that, by the way? It took him like 5 seconds to get from National City to Metropolis. Can't they hang out for dinner every Saturday or something? Why do they see each other so rarely?
It was fun to have Superman on the show. I really liked the way Tyler Hoechlin portrayed him.
Clark and Kara are adorable dorky dorks and I love them.
My favorite scene in this episode was the one where Cat told Kara she was leaving. I genuinely cried. I love Cat Grant and the show won't be the same without her. She'll return at some point, of course, but she'll probably never be a main character again, which sucks. Just like Kara, I don't like change, and I will miss Queen of All Media deeply.
Winn is absolutely hilarious. His reaction to Clark and J'onn arguing was the same as mine. And Star Wars references are always great.
Project Cadmus is super shady. I mean, I already knew that, but damn. They're much better villains than Non.
James is the boss, which is... actually good in my opinion? And it makes sense? Give him his own storylines outside of being Kara's (former) love interest. It'll be good for both of them.
I've just finished to watch the four episodes, and I've to say, It's been a long time - too long - since I've been thrilled and amazed with SF serie. And yes: this is from SyFy...
If you love Politics, Space Opera and Riots about "Corporation"... You should definitely watch it or at least, give it a try...
PS: I just hope it will continue as it started, I have great expectations with this show.
Please don't vote before you've seen the episode.
The acting is fair enough. The story is lacking though. Like why would Shredder care about making Eric Sacks (William Fichtner) rich ? I guess originally though since William Fichtner was supposed to be playing Shredder.
There was no Erick Sacks to make rich and it was actually Shredder himself who had a diabolical plan to make himself rich. Which just isn't Shredder from the cartoon. Either way he doesn't care about making himself or anyone else rich.
The cartoon series has much better writing and is even a lot more engaging. Copying from the flaw of the original movie and making Splinter a rat who taught himself kung-fu I could have lived without. Him being once human and having a daughter named Karai in the show that Shredder stole and raised as his own. Now that was good stuff.
Karai is in this movie but has no great use. Since she just works for Shredder and fights the turtles here and there. There's nothing too special about her character here.
Another problem of course is the look of the turtles. Mostly due to them being too bulky looking with noses. What turtle has a nose ? The 1990 film was flawed and goofy but better made and a little less stupid.
How come there's 7 votes to something that wasn't even released yet?! The rating system should only be available after release.
Ugh, I really want to like this show. I love the main show, so have nothing but high hopes... that keep getting dashed.
Everyone seemed to act in just inexplicable ways this episode. Danial Salazar went from 0 to batshit crazy in record time. Lorenzo Henrie is a horrible actor so Chris' psychotic break is just painful to watch because the actor can't pull it off. I like Travis' character, but it's going to be pure agony to have him and Chris off by themselves. It means more Chris in order to keep Travis visible. Nicks constant bathing in walker blood has gotten old. The mechanic is overused and it's only been a few episodes since he discovered that the blood hides him. He must stop at every walker and flap around in the blood like a spawning salmon.
Underground never ceizes to amaze me. This particular episode switches the perspective and the result is brilliant.
i don't know why, but i really, really love this movie hahaha!
What it scored so low? I liked it!
Sigue el plan. Esa es una promesa que no romperé.
