This was a great spin-off of the Ip Man series. After Tin-Chi performed in Ip Man 3 I thought he was a great character and amazing martial artist so this spin-off film is very good. For the first 2/3 of the move you will see a lot of fighting and character development so that by the end of the film, Tin-Chi is someone you really admire. Also just look at the cast of the film! Tony Jaa has a fight scene with Zhang Jin, and also there is a scene with Zhang Jin vs Dave Bautista that rivals the scene between Donnie Yen and Mike Tyson in Ip Man 3. Michelle Yeoh has a really good fight scene and of course she's a good actor. Also the actress who plays Julia (Liu Yan) wow! she's really gorgeous in this movie. Anyway, bottom line is I think this is one of the best martial arts movies centering around the wing chun style.
I really enjoyed this movie. Easy to watch, lots of in twined fantasies. Kept me guessing, but all is explained at the end. Good movie to pass the time. :thumbsup_tone1::thumbsup_tone1:
If you know the 70s TV series and its darker 90s remake, this is a great nod to both of them.
Matt Sydall passed his AEW audition. Since he botched a high flying move. Pretty much as soon as he hit the ring.
I love AEW but people seem to always botch in their debuts there. Probably due to nerves.
FTR vs Omega and Hangman stole the show. Probably because it seemed to go on forever.
Shida vs Thunder Rose also was a good one. Definitely the more memorable women’s match there so far.
Cassidy vs Jericho was a silly yet entertaining match. Hardy vs Samy wasn’t the best since Hardy got hurt. Apparently due to another Samy botch. Who’s the Nia Jax of the company.
Everything wrestling fans have been wanting. Attitude and wrestling is found here.
I just wish there was more
The fighting itself, especially when Bruce Lee first fought was pretty fantastic but overall the plot and direction was flimsy at best making it hard to get into the story.
This story has some decent creepy moments. It's probably due to the Antarctic setting. There are lots of special effect miniatures in this which are fun to watch.
Cronenberg's first real movie, and it's still a rather effective one. The body-horror he became famous for, is used to good effect here. As is the claustrophobic setting. And Sex Zombies? how can you not be interested by that?
The first 45 minutes is quite slow and only has a good few moments. Gets going in the second half but I think they should have just stuck to the parasite only being able to infect people through sexual contact. Worth a watch though
Starts off unsettling and effective. The horror plot is imaginative enough to invest in. A parasitic organ replacement gone wrong. Joe Silver does a great job in putting ths idea across. You believe it as much as you can.
The early gore is used effectively and brings the normal world in contact with the parasitic world. Like the blood vomit on the umbrella, I enjoyed the clash of these worlds.
Once a parasite is roaming the horror did change into more a basic monster movie. I didnt understand how the parasite could nagivate so easily and jump from a washing machine like a cat onto someone's face. Some parts are that type of jump horror. The bath tub scene is another example.
Luckily themail horror changes and the parasite prefers being spread during sex and turns humans into sex obsessed zombies. It's not as tacky as it sounds. It allows for some creepy personal encounters and sexual relationships. It got odd stuff like girls walking as dogs?... The end really feels like you cannot escape or move and more like a full on zombie movie.
It was worth watching. I wonder that if this parasite existed, how many people today would actively be willing to live in that state?
Sam is annoying sometimes. Please stop being so angsty.
Odd choice to have pretty much the entire cast be British yet all play Americans. Everyone's accent was constantly changing throughout the film every time they raised their voice.
The BEST zombie film I have seen in a while. Yes, it has a semi-artful approach, but it doesn't stint on the creepiness or the gore. While it's not particularly scary - how many horror films are these days? - it is at least a little inventive with its take on this well-worn genre. By the end, I was hungry for more!
Amazing story. Well played out too. I love the characters.
Very creepy and atmospheric but it was slow and boring for the most part. I did like the score and I thought it was shot well.
I found it a curious and very visual version, but a bit strange and it focuses more on the form than the content
This movie would have been good if they'd explained anything. Like anything whatsoever. Alas, they do not.
I was not expecting much from this movie and boy, it did not disappoint. It was just nothing from beginning to end. For a horror movie, it was devoid of jumps, scares, frights, or even gasps. I found it to be quite boring and I'm pretty sure there is no reason for the title for the movie unless I missed it. IMO don't waste your time.
I watched the whole movie. And all I keep saying to myself is, Why?
Never seen any Jim Cummings projects so I don't understand the hype. Movie was meh. Story was ok but the comedy wasn't funny, more annoying than anything .
The writing of the first act alone and the confusion over the protagonist was magnificent to me. I had an absolute blast in the theater with this one.
It's fun. It's well paced. I had a blast.
All the negative reviews I see on RT complain about the lack of depth, which ok, it's not a super deep film, but it doesn't have to be nor is there really the time without substantially lengthening the film or taking away from the action. Personally I think they're probably just a little butt hurt at the jabs it takes at the left or not enough at the right. This is a fun, violent comedy that just roasts everyone. There is some depth in that it points out flaws in everyone, but it's mostly just a non-objective romp.
Indeed, the downfall of the antagonists was the same cause of their entire motivation for the Hunt, targeting individuals based on inaccurate information and justifying their actions by a sense of moral superiority.
The thing about THE HUNT is that is an absolute blast of a horror comedy. Demented, violent and a bit times shocking; this film is an example of the twisted mind of Hollywood's writters (Damon Lindelof has even more twisted tricks up his sleeve) and a highly political satire of violence, racism, social superiority, guns and nasty comments on social media. The plot catches you straight from the beginning and twists the knife (see what I did there?) into a non stop frenzy of comical violence and a hero in Betty Gilpin's insane performance.
Pleasantly surprised by this one. Despite the low reviews scores, it is actually pretty good. The setup is creepy, the body horror is suitably icky, and the narrative holds the attention. Watch it, and let it be another reason why you shouldn't visit the beach in 2020.
delivers exactly what you would expect from a movie called Godzilla vs Kong, 2 giant monsters kicking the crap out of each other. even when monsters were not on the screen, there was plenty to keep you engaged
the runtime, which was just under 2 hours, flew by and i was never bored. yes, the parts that featured human characters were less interesting, but who watches a giant monster movie for human characters anyway?
having said that, the human characters following Kong's arc were infinitely more compelling than those following Godzilla's, and Kong's story overall had an emotional arc that made you care about him
Really really fantastic! Enjoyed the experience so much, excellent CGI, a really good story too to carry the action forward! Must watch on the big screen!
So I waited for this one every since they announced it. Then covid delays. Bought the fist tickets for the first show days ago. Got to the theater, got snacks, sitting there with my son and nothing on the screen. The camera broke. No more tickets for the rest of the day available. Grrrrrr. Went home, watched on HBO max. Well at least the movie was awesome.
Like eating the right amount of your favorite candy, Godzilla vs Kong is a visual sugar rush that will keep you buzzing for hours.
Where Godzilla (2014) dragged in places and Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019) was all adrenalin with nothing to grasp, Godzilla vs Kong is a perfect popcorn and Coke movie with the sweet action and the savory visuals. The right length, some gorgeous cinematography, flawless CGI, a perfect balance between action and story, Godzilla vs Kong is the best movie in the monsterverse and caps off the franchise gloriously.
It's not art, but that's OK, I didn't need it to be.
