excellent, excellent, excellent
- another biopic for the awards season, but unlike house of gucci, this one really hit me.
- Man, the sporting environment is undoubtedly one of the hardest sectors to live with, especially being as young as Venus and Serena... people, during the film, may find Will Smith's character boring, grumpy, bossy and rude....but honestly, I felt a lot of empathy not for his actions but for the reason he did them. His biggest goal is to protect his daughters from what could have become the decline of their childhood... the pressure brought on by sport, the total loss of childhood putting success above all else, the loss of the humility that he and his wife feel. devoted so much to teaching! Richard just wants his daughters to have fun without the toxicity that most parents act with their children (situation mentioned throughout the film)... so as a person who gave up sport because of that same pressure, I could understand the incessant Richard's quest for that big goal: just letting his daughters live their childhood and play tennis in a fun way.
- however, although the film is restricted only to richard's relationship with these two daughters, at a certain point in the film the fact that Richard has other children is mentioned: this is not developed, it is not explored in any way, and that It pisses me off because why mention it if it won't show anymore?? it gave me the impression that the script wanted to hide this ''troubled'' part of richard's life, all this apart from the fact that the other three daughters that are presented to us are completely relegated to the background.... that's how it is in real life??? the movie hides a lot, period
WILL SIMITH IS GREAT: His scenes with Anjuanue Ellis are sensational and yield stunning dialogue, the actresses who play the daughters are also great
- doubly recommended!!!!!!!!
I didn't like it as much as others do.
It is a typical German movie: Most actors are not bearable, the writing is bad and of course there is a plot twist.
A movie about hackers cannot be accurate about hacking, otherwise it would be boring as hell, but just throwing around buzzwords like "0day-exploit" and "he can read machine code" makes it even worse. What exactly is the IP tracer inside the hammer?
And of course there is a plot twist–Fight Club much?–but with a twist inside the twist. I didn't see that one coming, so that's good for the movie.
But on the other side, just creating tension by not telling the audience what's happening is also bad.
The IRC meetings are well done in the subway where you can be anyone and no one knows who you really are.
Hacking the BND makes it really funny, I liked that part, and the Blinkenlights of the pharma company. These were things that could have been true. However, unbelievable was hacking the TV station and printing the finger in the stock prices, they hacked the sender, so the users at home at the TV should have seen the finger but not the newscaster. She does not see the same screen.
Hacking the NBD (Why was it not allowed to call it NPD? So bad...) was a very good deed, but why do the Nazis afterwards know exactly who hacked them and from where (the van). And why do they all have baseball bats for a presentation of their party?
About the actors: They are native German speakers but all they say sounds like a bad synchronization like from American movies.
All in all a decent typical German movie: Bad actors, storyline copied from many successful other movies and the actual main part (the hacking) is too short.
If you can suspend your disbelief you might enjoy this revenge movie in the same vein of "I spit on your grave"... but you'll have to be able to suspend it a lot. The movie is beautifully shot but it left me hanging a bit towards the end. The main actor (apparently the Belgian called Kevin Janssens... I did not know!) looked like he was performing try outs for the Rising Dead 2 movie... He would be perfect in the role of Chuck Greene.
All in all this movie doesn't offer anything new and is a bit long-winded towards the end. It didn't quite satisfy but I do not regret seeing it.
Some strange things I picked up during this movie (brain had time to think I guess):
- can't get over that they got the brand wrong. Regardless of all the things that aren't possible in this film... it should have been mirrored
- when's the last time you saw a left-handed person holding a rifle... I haven't... Didn't I pay attention in the past?
- too bad they didn't go a bit more into the mystical of peyote and deserts... would have made the unbelievable stuff more palatable
- I also always set myself on fire when I try to escape being empaled, it's the logical thing to do
- it had to be mirrored... right? REDRUM REEB REEB NACIXEM
You will have to turn your brain completely off for this one, but if you can then it's an alright cheesy Sci-fi movie. There are so many continuity and science errors so you'll have to go into it knowing that you just have to let them so. There's also a lot of moments where you'll say "really" but, again, just let it go and turn off that part of your brain. There is nothing really new here. The plot of this is a hodgepodge of several other films and the characters, even though they're supposed to be smart, do the most idiot things. It's like watching a bad horror movie where the person just makes one bad choice after another but you know they have to do it to make the movie work. Some of the acting is rough, but there are also a few good laugh out loud moments, even though I'm not sure all of them were intended to be funny. I suggest that if you love cheesy Sci-fi and you're willing to just go with it, bad or good, then you give this one a go. It's definitely not the worst thing to watch if you want to kill an afternoon or evening.
Loved this hilarious and heartfelt movie with some familiar faces cameos along the way
This movie is set after the most recent Fast And Furious Films where it shows two very different characters called Hobbs And Shaw that they are like brothers with a love hate friendship where they rub each other up the wrong way while cracking hilarious jokes about each other. Nevertheless when it gets down to dangerous situations they both go in and work really well together. Hobbs is more family oriented where he is a lot calmer with a steady day to day life with his lovely daughter that is really cute to see his sweet innocent side to him that makes him seem a lot more human. When it comes down to defeating enemies Hobbs tends to chuck extremely heavy objects at them like chairs, nevertheless compared to Shaw is more refined as he defeats enemies using finesse and skill he kind of shows off while getting the job done. Shaw has a less stable life where he prefers to work alone with very little backup and pushing family away along with his friends while making a lot of enemies along the way. I loved the cute heartfelt moments between Hattie And Shaw was so cute as well. If you have a spare two hours and sixteen minutes I highly recommend you watch this hilarious heartfelt film, which you will not be disappointed as you will recognise some familiar funny faces along the way that is great.
An emotional portrayal rather than an historically faithful account of Mary's relationship with Elizabeth of England. Although claiming that this film was based on John Guy's book MARY QUEEN OF SCOTS: THE TRUE LIFE OF MARY STUART (a remarkable, groundbreaking historical work, which, driven by curiosity by the movie, I've just finished reading) there is very little evidence the screenwriter finished reading it. Both the book and film present Mary as the beautiful, courtly, intellectual and political equal of Elizabeth I, but, that must have been when the screenwriter stopped reading the book for he departs from the historical record and lapses into a fantasy, portraying Elizabeth as weak and distant from her own political processes, gives us with no credible explanation for why Elizabeth made the decisions she did, which begs the question no historian would pose, "If Mary was a true and worthy queen whereas Elizabeth was weak and an emotional mess, how did Mary end up on the executioner's block and Elizabeth manage to successfully hold her throne for 44 years?" The screenwriter muddles up any political, religious or ideological (or even personal) logic for the climate of the day which inevitably set the course for Mary's life path. There is no clarity given as to whether one was either Protestant or Roman would be such an insurmountable issue, partly because John Knox was so poorly written (despite having hidden the very talented and capable David Tennant behind all the hair). Disappointing story telling. Saoirse Ronan and Margot Robbie give emotionally deep performances, as expected. This was a waste of good actors. I rate this film a 4 (poor) out of 10. I know I may be expressing a minority opinion, because, by and large, the people I spoke to as we exited the theatre, seemed to have liked the movie, but more troubling, they accepted this as an historically accurate portrayal while confessing to each other that they never knew of Mary, Queen of Scotts. [Historical? BioPic]. By the way, a seminole point of John Guy's book is that Mary and Elizabeth NEVER MET!
I am disappointed with this movie. I had such high expectations. There were many gaps in portraying the story. I am very familiar with the British history so I was able to fill in the gaps. But I was with my teenage daughter and she got lost in the story. First of all, there was no explanation as to why the religion mattered. Second, many stories were rushed, no detail provided while some other stories/parts dragged. And as I watched the scene when Elizabeth and Mary met for the first time I realized that this whole movie is about women empowerment. The way the story was told, the focus was on the strength and power of the women (mostly Mary). I don't like how Elizabeth was portrayed as a weak and insecure woman. Actually, the truth was quite the opposite - she was strong and smart woman. She knew what she wanted. She never married because she knew that she would lose power the moment she tied the knot. This is what ultimately brought Mary's demise.
If the focus of the movie was telling the story rather than making a point, the result would have been much better movie. Right now the movie lacks a seamless story telling. What a waste of good actors. And btw, I think they overdid it with Elizabeth's make up.
