So Geralt broke Rience's hands but then decided to walk past him and not kill him in that instant?!?! He could have just swung his sword and finish him off on his way back to the portal!
So are we going to repeat the whole Ketill/Floki plot but this time with Ubbe??? :unamused:
These supposedly "emotional" death scenes are a huge miss for me this season! I mean, you could tell from Gunhild's speech in the last episode that she was grieving and depressed, saying that since Bjorn is gone, she can't go back to just a being a woman with no future, although she was a badass shield maiden long before Bjorn but it's ok we'll jot that to the depression talking. So it was expected that she will probably kill herself rather than marry Harald but the way it was done just wasn't that impactful for me. She went up, stripped down, went for a little swim, and then drowned herself. I mean, can you even reach Valhalla this way??
As for Ubbe's storyline, we started by seeing this intense fight between Kettil's family and the others and then suddenly Ubbe and the rest decide to start running for their life (were they outnumbered? Coz it didn't seem like it) and I thought they were just gonna retreat but no, they went into full panic mood, got into the boats, and sailed away... The camera then pans to Ketill's family where there was like only a couple of people remaining!! Did they have to leave in such a hurry? I don't get it!
On the other hand, Ivar and Igor's relationship was truly well done. Igor said previously that Ivar saved his life, but in reality, Igor also made a better man out of Ivar. He truly changed as stated by Hvisterk in the end.
I really wasn’t a fan of Bjorn during this season, I have no connection to his character, so I really wasn’t moved by his death. I mean it was supposed to be this epic send off but it just dragged for me and it felt very flat. And honestly to say that Bjorn “was even greater than Ragnar”?! How? Yes, he was a beast of a man but I fail to remember any moment where I was really impressed by him or any of his plans/actions. He lacked Ragnar’s greatness. The only thing he succeeded in doing was unite all of Norway on his death bed, and they all answered his summons because he was a son of Ragnar! I feel the show failed to build him up as a truly remarkable character.
I loved the scene with Reiner mentioning everyone back at the island. His family expected him to recall the horror of the people there and he tried to do that however he couldn’t really come up with anything terrible to portray them negatively. These episodes really make me feel sad for Reiner and his conflict (which we already saw some glimpses of in previous seasons).
Zeke doesn’t know the truth about his mother? Or was he intentionally hiding it?
So by now, we basically know or have heard of all the Nine Titans:
So the season starts with a 4 years time jump and we are seeing things from the other perspective. What we know so far:
The Curse of Ymir is 13 years.. When Eren spoke about it, he had 8 years left, and Armin had 13.. In the last episode of Season 3, we see a time jump but I don’t remember how much so I wonder how many years do they have left with the current time jump as well?
After the big reveal in the last season and the reality of titans, it was sad seeing all those titans being thrown out of the plane to meet their demise. It feels weird to root for Reiner and Zeke in this episode.
Not a big fan of the opening and closing sequences soundtrack.
Elevator scenes have always been this show's strong points and this one did not disappoint
I almost made it through the whole episode without crying but that final phone call between Maddison and Randall/Beth got me!
Conversation-focused episodes are always in my top favorites!
“We haven’t even had a chance to talk this over” - Marco was one of the main reasons behind Jean’s character development, this whole conversation really hits hard!
“That’s enough… So you’re saying the guilt messed with your brain, right?” - I had the same thought while watching that episode of Marco dying. I remember being so angry at Reiner and his schizophrenic moment and wanting him dead… We have come a long way since then :pensive:
And now we buckle up for what's coming...
Well that was extremely sad :pensive::cry:
I understand the scouts’ frustration with Eren forcing them into this battle, however Marley was bound to wage war on Paradis regardless of what they did! At least, they got the War Hammer titan now. And Zeke! (All the hints were there!!)
I didn't like the fact that the new resident was trying to convince Bailey that she sent him a "signal"... On the other hand, I loved Bailey and Ben's scenes! It has been a while since we had 2 adults in a relationship actually communicating on this show!!
I loved Randall's talk with Deja, got me all teared up... Also Jack's last scene
On the other hand, Beth was hilarious:
- Let's kill her. Let's dig a hole in the backyard and bury her in it.
- Right to our faces.
- Okay, hold up. I feel like we need to pick which one of us is gonna unravel here and which one of us is gonna stay cool.
- Randall: Can we put her back on Zoom school? - Beth: I feel like that's kind of punishing ourselves
That was brutal! I didn’t expect the conversation between Eren and Mikasa/Armin to take this turn. Eren did not hold his punches, and then to have Mikasa automatically hold down Armin when he lunged towards Eren was extremely heartbreaking.
Levi’s arc is also tragic, the guy is a badass, there is no doubt about that, but his previous breakdown and then being forced to kill all his comrades was cruel.
Floch is such an irritating character, I want to punch his face whenever he is on screen!
SPOILERS ahead for non-book readers:
- I know Penelope wants to protect Colin but she will never resort to shaming anyone. So Marina’s pregnancy reveal kind of disappoints me. I feel the whole idea behind Lady Whistledown is taking a different turn. Penelope should have gone to Eloise or Lady Bridgerton with the truth, I just think this will have major repercussions once we get to the reveal in the future
- Now to the problematic scene. It is not as awful as it was in the book, however, that is not say it was not wrong. Simon was not drunk here and even his reaction and the stuttering was a bit tamer, I thought there would be more emphasis on it. At this point, Daphne doesn’t even know about his stutter! Also, being in Daphne’s mind in the book, knowing her thoughts, and the fact that this happens after she learns all the truth about his father and his stutter makes it even worse. God, I hated this scene in the book, and what made me resent it even more was how the aftermath was handled. Daphne didn't really regret what happened, she thought it was good that she took advantage of the situation as this might be her only chance to get pregnant. For me, Daphne's character never redeemed herself and Simon forgave her (without her even apologizing) and went along with it too easily. So I want to see how the aftermath will be handled in the show because even if this scene wasn’t as messy, it was still very uncomfortable.
Oh George O’Malley! I got goosebumps seeing him again! It has been so long...
Frenchie: “Don’t be so closed minded” :joy::joy::joy:
When Stormfront said "And the most important man in the room..." I totally thought she was gonna say "Hitler"
Joe seeing Love as a monster and being appalled by her killing people is so absurdly hilarious given that he is basically the same but the difference is that he is able to justify his own actions in his mind.
I didn’t expect Armin to be talking to Annie! (I was wondering a couple of episodes back what happened to her). Him having Bertholt’s memories definitely make him understand her more, but did he really find “nothing useful” in the memories, as he stated to Eren?
Curious to see the whole Zeke thing unfold
Sasha :pensive::pensive:
Out of all the deaths, I didn’t expect Ivar’s to be the one that would get me. His talk with Hvitserk, his admission of fear, a great performance by Alex Høgh Andersen  Couldn’t help but shed a few tears..
I loved Floki telling Ubbe that he looks like Ragnar, their talk on the beach was a bittersweet end to conclude the story.
This show has had its ups and downs, it especially suffered in the last two seasons, but I think we got a somewhat decent ending…
EREN JAEGER!!!! (We also got a glimpse of him in Episode 2 but of course it totally went over my head at the time)
Ever since they mentioned the plan to go back to Paradis island in the previous episodes, I kept thinking what will they find there? I mean, it is not like Eren and the rest are just idly waiting around… So it seems the tables have turned and this time our heroes’ infiltrated the warriors’ side.
(There was also a scene at the end of the 1st episode, where we see a shot of a guy holding a newspaper. It is more than obvious now that he is another member of the scouts as well.)
The storytelling is great, we get to relive the events from a different perspective and I can only imagine this will make things harder for the viewers when the clash happens given that now we have information from both sides and how they came to be.
