The season is quite addicting, it keeps you guessing and coming up with theories until the end. Overall it was good, however the finale felt weak and messy. I am not sure if it is because they decided to have a 2nd season so they needed to go with a different path, however it left us with too many questions and events that don't really add up with the conclusion.
I would have preferred if they ended it with one season only and a more solid ending. I guess it all depends on where Season 2 decides to take the show and if the questions get answered in a satisfying manner.
A great psychological thriller with excellent performances by Gillian Anderson and Jamie Dornan
The show starts off well, the first few episodes flow smoothly and quickly that it made me wish they were longer. However, halfway through, they start to drag. This should have been a 3-4 episodes mini-series, it would have been much more interesting to follow. The message it delivers is very important but you have to endure before reaching that “satisfying” ending.
This season was drastically different from the book upon which it is based. I don’t mind having a totally different storyline from the books but this one was rather disappointing.
A major change was the Edwina/Anthony/Kate love triangle. It took too long to be resolved, the “almost” marriage shouldn’t have happened in the first place, and I feel it didn’t leave time for the Kate/Anthony romance to be convincing. I understand they didn’t want to have yet another marriage of convenience for 2 seasons in a row and love triangles do make for good drama but when siblings are involved, it results in too much hurt and deceit which wasn’t really enjoyable to watch.
I complained about a lack of chemistry between the Duke and Daphne in the previous season, specifically in the early episodes. However, for me, it was worse this season. I just couldn’t feel any chemistry between the two main leads. Jonathan Bailey played Anthony well however the gorgeous Simone Ashley just didn’t do justice to Kate’s character. In the earlier episodes, she came off as rather rude and then in later ones, her acting was very rigid, even in the love confession scene!
I am not sure if the show will follow the chronological order of the books. I feel it is going to be either Benedict or Colin’s story next. It seems like they laid an opening for Benedict’s story, he no longer wants to pursue his art, so maybe he will go away and there he will meet “her” and start drawing again? I am also looking forward to seeing more of Eloise & Theo, I am hoping this story is not yet over. And of course, there will be the aftermath of the Whistledown confrontation between Eloise and Penelope.
Good start, one that will hopefully open the doors for future romance novels adaptation.
The beginning was a bit rushed but the show found its pace soon after. The Bridgerton characters were well introduced, the side characters were given enough space and the added characters were quite interesting. The main story was not my favorite, but then again Simon and Daphne are my least favorite couple in the books, so that's on me, but I still believe there was a lack of chemistry between the actors portraying these characters and that kind of took away from a lot of the scenes.
Anyway, I can't wait for the next seasons and the next couples. The Bridgerton family felt closer in the books, which is one of the most important appeals of the series, so I was a bit surprised/disappointed by how formal or distant some siblings were to one other. Some characters benefited from changes in the story while others didn't, but even though I can't help comparing the show to the books, it is still best to treat them as separate entities and enjoy each on its own. That being said, Eloise & Benedict were my favorite characters in this first season, and I hope we get enough seasons to witness all the siblings' stories.
Solid first season. Although I don’t mind spending more time with these characters, I would have preferred for it to be a mini-series, simply because there is a possibility for season 2 to just drag the story unnecessarily but we will see.
I was pleasantly surprised by Engin Öztürk. I have previously seen him in "Fatmagül'ün Suçu Ne?” and “Muhteşem Yüzyıl”, but I watched both shows dubbed so that doesn’t really convey the actors’ potential because you don’t hear the voice and speech delivery and I must say I was impressed by both when it came to this particular actor. The sarcasm is perfectly delivered and his voice is :fire:! A great choice for Gölge's character.
Muhtar and Turan are one of the best comedic duos ever!!
6.5/10
Overall not a bad season. Definitely one of those guilty pleasures shows. Hope the story will flow a bit better in season 2. There was so much abrupt scene changes and rushed events, probably trying to fit all the book material.
6.7/10
The whole show leaves a lot of to be desired, a lot of rushed scenes and not enough exploration of the different creatures. I enjoyed the world though, so will definitely give the books a chance to explore it more.
Although many were disappointed with the ending, I thought it was a decent one. I think the showrunners might have wanted to prolong the show even further but when that turned out to be impossible they gave it an adequate ending. Having him escape would have been too ridiculous, and having him go to jail wouldn't have worked without further developments, so they gave him a realistic ending although with many convenient plots.
8.5/10
A great season, although I would have preferred for it to conclude the story and not have another one.
I wonder what Season 3 will be about, will they stretch out the trial for 6 episodes even though we pretty much already know all the details?
Great season with good character development, hilarious scenes, and entertaining guests and storylines
7.8/10
Great season! Gillian Anderson is flawless and Jamie Dornan is really nailing the sociopath role!
I loved the scene with Reiner mentioning everyone back at the island. His family expected him to recall the horror of the people there and he tried to do that however he couldn’t really come up with anything terrible to portray them negatively. These episodes really make me feel sad for Reiner and his conflict (which we already saw some glimpses of in previous seasons).
Zeke doesn’t know the truth about his mother? Or was he intentionally hiding it?
So by now, we basically know or have heard of all the Nine Titans:
So the season starts with a 4 years time jump and we are seeing things from the other perspective. What we know so far:
The Curse of Ymir is 13 years.. When Eren spoke about it, he had 8 years left, and Armin had 13.. In the last episode of Season 3, we see a time jump but I don’t remember how much so I wonder how many years do they have left with the current time jump as well?
After the big reveal in the last season and the reality of titans, it was sad seeing all those titans being thrown out of the plane to meet their demise. It feels weird to root for Reiner and Zeke in this episode.
Not a big fan of the opening and closing sequences soundtrack.
Well that was extremely sad :pensive::cry:
I understand the scouts’ frustration with Eren forcing them into this battle, however Marley was bound to wage war on Paradis regardless of what they did! At least, they got the War Hammer titan now. And Zeke! (All the hints were there!!)
That was brutal! I didn’t expect the conversation between Eren and Mikasa/Armin to take this turn. Eren did not hold his punches, and then to have Mikasa automatically hold down Armin when he lunged towards Eren was extremely heartbreaking.
Levi’s arc is also tragic, the guy is a badass, there is no doubt about that, but his previous breakdown and then being forced to kill all his comrades was cruel.
Floch is such an irritating character, I want to punch his face whenever he is on screen!
I didn’t expect Armin to be talking to Annie! (I was wondering a couple of episodes back what happened to her). Him having Bertholt’s memories definitely make him understand her more, but did he really find “nothing useful” in the memories, as he stated to Eren?
Curious to see the whole Zeke thing unfold
Sasha :pensive::pensive:
EREN JAEGER!!!! (We also got a glimpse of him in Episode 2 but of course it totally went over my head at the time)
Ever since they mentioned the plan to go back to Paradis island in the previous episodes, I kept thinking what will they find there? I mean, it is not like Eren and the rest are just idly waiting around… So it seems the tables have turned and this time our heroes’ infiltrated the warriors’ side.
(There was also a scene at the end of the 1st episode, where we see a shot of a guy holding a newspaper. It is more than obvious now that he is another member of the scouts as well.)
The storytelling is great, we get to relive the events from a different perspective and I can only imagine this will make things harder for the viewers when the clash happens given that now we have information from both sides and how they came to be.
Zeke’s plan is fully explained, although given that there is only one episode left, I thought we would see more of the current storyline. Nevertheless, these background episodes are always so well done and this was no exception.
As for the final scene, the animation was beautiful! But Levi is not dead, right? RIGHT? RIGHT???
One episode left, how they are going to wrap up the story in 24 mins??
Can someone die out of sheer excitement?!?! What an episode!!
Were Armin and Mikasa really in any danger of getting caught in the explosion? When Connie asks Mikasa whose side are you on, she says "Armin and I almost got caught in the explosion. You have to ask”. Eren wouldn’t have risked the lives of these two, however, if Armin hadn’t stopped Mikasa from returning to Zachary's office, would she have died in the explosion? Or whoever detonated the bomb would have waited until she was in the clear to do so? Did Armin suspect anything about the chair?
How did the warriors infiltrate Paradis? Could they have snuck aboard the Azumabito’s ship? There is no other way to get to the island, right?
Speaking of the Azumabito family, did the military and scouts have to fight in front of them? It was weird specially with the scene panning to them every now and then
When asked about Eren, Yelena said something along the lines of "I wanted him to know who I am”. Is there any significance to this?
A perfect episode!!
Grace: Happy or sad?
Tommy: Sad.
Grace: Okay, but I warn you, It'll break your heart.
Tommy: Already broken.
