I'm usually a big Doctor Who fan, have been for decades, but this season is a terrible mess of modern political propaganda, so much so I could not watch all episodes in this season. I'm sure there will be a handful of viewers that will like this new 'Doctor' but personally speaking, the Doctor's character does not change in any major way through the regeneration process.
I will continue to visit the Doctor again in season 12 but if it's the same I will not be watching all the episodes again as I didn't in 11.
The writing needs major improvement!
Taking my time with Doom Patrol. I am really impressed that a show such as this, so 'cutting edge' and unconventional, got green lit in the first place.
Doom Patrol does some serious exploring and without giving anything away I'll only say this, sometimes it takes your inner super hero to obtain freedom from yourself.
Have a few episodes to go, but here's to season 2 in the future. I am glad I stumbled upon this gem!
This season started okay, but it rapidly went downhill from there. At times it was a free for all pity party and other times it was really hard to get through the episode.
I had hopes that Titans was going to be must see viewing, but I only watched the rest of this season to mark it off my watch list and we were on lockdown so I had time up my sleeve.
Not my most liked season.
Chernobyl is quite an outstanding Miniseries with some excellent acting and relevant script writing. The dialogue is in English so there isn't a problem for those that dislike subtitles.
There are some glaring variances from historical knowledge to the miniseries possibly to dramatise the situation more, the usual demonisation of nuclear energy but it doesn't detract from series itself. The series does give a good depiction of first gen nuclear energy production and the sense that there were short cuts made along with a blasé attitude by gov officials to keep to Mother Russia socialist communism idealistically 'superior'.
I felt the main sense of the series was to show more the political bureaucracy of the Soviet State rather than nuclear accuracy.
The miniseries was very well paced and there was no unnecessary Storyline filler.
Don't miss seeing this.
I'm really enjoying PBB as it has a flavour of The X-Files but it goes further and there's also other factors that are in the arc that would fall within the same timeline (my attempt not to spoil).
If X-Files was your thing give this series a shot. There are some familiar faces that you will appreciate them bringing their fine acting skills into this Project too.
I really found this hard to finish watching.
This will be a roundup of what I thought of the whole series. I'll probably slip into more general overview of this season at the end.
Personally I really liked how this series began. It had good SFX good visuals, the cast was good even though 'Judy' was the typical 'inclusion' addition to the family but I guess they couldn't cast 'Dr Smith' as a woman and black and the antagonist because that may have been seen as 'typecasting'. But yep let's overlook this mainstream need to force diversity even though it's plain as day that it IS forced. I know I'm sick of seeing this nonsense in most of what we call entertainment lately.
The first season was enjoyable. The second, tolerable. The third ....
Then we had the late entry to the gig, 'Don'. The token comedic fill-in, with the chicken. I can't really remember when Don arrived on the scene whether it was the end of S1 or beginning of S2, but that's when I thought, uh-oh.
So I realize I'm writing this as a Season 3 thoughts/review. Here is goes.
What a mess. Season 3 quickly turns into a soap opera in space and not a good one making every opportunity to push down and raise up the usual suspects and how 'woke' has managed to make everything seem to look like the bucket contents of a heavy night of partying. I don't want to add spoilers but it was really predicable and after the delays because of the global push to get everyone on drugs it was clear in some parts that they just copied from other recent SciFi to fill in more gaping holes in a very superficial season just to wind it up and put the show in the box. That's really how it felt.
From chicken chasing to sitting on a chair and quickly getting in a box, plus all the contrived, forced, heaping on of all the usual things we've seen lately even down to a specific flag making a feature cameo just to keep that audience satiated. It's become so 'standard' and formulaic as 'woke' is the template base for most new shows, now let's see how we can cram a beloved storyline from the past into it.
It got worse as the show approached the end of the season and series. I'm actually surprised they didn't do what I thought they would stuff in there next when Penny was exploring. I'll just leave that here.
I hope that I'm the only one who feels this way about such a promising show turning into this!
If you get to read this, I hope I'm wrong and more importantly you get to finish the season on an uptick rather than the disappointment I had. All I can say it looking forward to the return of the Expanse.
I came into this without knowing anything about Titans. My expectations were low (they have been pushed low with some recent releases) and my main reason for watching, I saw Titans had been renewed for season 2.
Long story short actually enjoyed it. I've always been a fan of dark, gritty shows and this didn't suck. The soundtrack suited, the theme music punches.
I needed to look up the characters (tools you I didn't know anything about Titans), but that's okay. I did like the introduction of the spin off team, they look interesting too.
The way we got introduced to the characters I found acceptable and the main story arc is curious. I'm definitely looking forward to the season 2 arrival.
