Fringe

I miss Fringe with a passion. Fantastic characters each of which performed and excelled at their art especially when looking at alternate universes. Walter (John Noble) is my most favorite character in a show hands down. Olivia, portrayed by Anna Torv, I have a big crush on, shows her versatility as an actor playing multiple parts and characters extremely well. Fringe was so underrated and should have had more seasons. I still have November's Diary on my coffee table. I also miss the addition to the lab - Gene.

Lost

It's June 2024.
This is the first time I decided to re-watch this show for years.
I must say bingeing this show and knowing the outcome rather than being caught up trying to figure out what's going on, you can really concentrate on the incredible story lines and the intricate and detailed story jumps, the stories within the story.

I'm deep into season 5 and LOST just keeps getting better and the characters continue to evolve and become more interesting. Either find a friend who has this series on Bluray or find it streaming somewhere, but this is THE show to binge if ever you're going to.

Great show to get immersed in!

The Blacklist

At the end of season 8 with season 9 green lit I wanted to share without spoilers my honest take on the show in general. I've had Blacklist as my go to show when airing. It's been 8 seasons so there has been some real clangers and some episodes that could be termed snooze fests. But over all the show is intriguing and very watchable with James Spader being brilliant with the other cast members having their excellent moments also. The have been some epic, spiking a touchdown, knockout in the first round, exceptional episodes that I wouldn't be able to do justice to with just words. Some excellent writing! One of the most touching and unforgettable episodes paying tribute to Clark Middleton's character Glen Carter "Jellybean". Simply outstanding! This has to be The Best farewells to a loved character and cast member that I can say ice seen in any show (And I've seen a Lot of shows). The Blacklist is good viewing in my humble opinion.

The Blacklist

Yeah! Great wind up of Season 8. What's better is The Blacklist is green lit for Season 9. Now the only trouble is waiting for Season 9 to be run.

The Walking Dead

OMG... Season 7 premiere was hard core! The most intense TV I've seen to date, and be aware there is a lot of gore in this episode, even for TWD. I know why they put ads in episodes now, for the views to catch their breath! Enjoy all!

Game of Thrones

GoT is set in a complex fictional world with an incredible array of characters, strong, with a depth hard to find in most shows let alone one based in a fantasy world. Each actor has put their all into their part. Winter is Coming.

Homeland

Having just finished watching the finale to the series I want to say I applaude the writers ending the show with a fitting finale! I won't go into detail so as not to spoil anything but well damn done.

The cast provided top performances right till the end. Well thought out plot, perhaps a couple little holes but what script has ever been perfect. This however was probably as close as you're going to get. I particularly enjoyed the tie in to S1, masterfully done.

Overall, if you like spy movies, espionage, current event scenarios and general cat and mouse, tug of war, situations you should like Homeland. The characters have flaws and throughout the 8 seasons it never glosses over these, but digs deeper into each characters relations with each other. There are slow moments dribbled throughout the series but just learn to expect them in any series... They are there to build and develop the characters. I'm sad to see the show end as it was one of my favourite shows I looked forward to every week. But the end was satisfying without doubt.
Thank you to the showrunners, writers, cast and crew. Job well done.

Elementary
Elementary

Elementary has its moments and has a fairly good balance of comedy, drama and interesting moments.
Holmes and Watson take their time to become bonded but they do.

There are some glaring errors at times in the writing. One example is on a case they determined the shooting (that we saw) was fired from 'a semi automatic MP5'.
But the firearm was full auto. There are others but I won't add them here.

Overall it's an enjoyable watch. It is a show that I looked forward to weekly and recently I've been enjoying the second revisit to the show. There are good story lines and quite the cast to put some extra oomph in the series. There's also an interesting long story arc that eventually presents themselves.

Overall a good watch if you're into Whodunits dramadies.

How does one get changes made to the listings? This series only had two seasons and not 5 as it is listed.

I'm so glad Futurama is revived (rivalling cats lives)! Bring it on! Such a great scifi comedy.

Warehouse 13

This is the third time or so I've watched WH13. Generally a fun show. 'Pete' throws out some funny one liners and there's a range of great guest stars.

I don't really recommend binge watching the show because you'll notice the inordinate amount of crazy annoying times 'Myka' says Pete's name. I mean enough that you expel an 'Urrrrgh' out loud, and not just 'Pete' but 'Peeeeeeete'.

Also the show introduced a gay character but it was done well and tasteful. His preference isn't the focus, and the character isn't an obnoxious extrovert that just makes you want to turn off. A lot of newer shows could learn much from the way WH13 did it without pissing people off by pushing an overt Agenda.

Just grab some popcorn and have some fun watching Warehouse 13.

12 Monkeys

I will be back to properly review 12 Monkeys because I'm only up to the end of season 2.
But I had to come on and give a big pile of praise for Emily Hampshire 'Jennifer Goines'. What a Frackin fantastic actor! Emily knocks it out of the park! She does Crazy, crazy well. Love this one!

If you want to watch a time travel show done well this is the one for you. There's a lot of jumping so you need to pay attention but let's face it what good time travel show doesn't need to have your complete attention!?

Such a great dark show! I find Dexter to be intriguing to say the least and the ' Dark Passenger ' I'm sure we can all relate to in some form or another. I miss these characters and would've liked to have seen an alternative end. A must see, even if it is just for the exceptional guest roles of Jimmy Smits and a huge role well portrayed by John Lithgow. Do not miss this show.

Amazing series... The actors nail it and there are truly stunning panoramic shoots. Someone here suggested the series is over, however we still have another half of this season to go, and the next season is already locked in. #Ragnar

Probably one of the best innovative explorations in the human character and what can happen when faced with crisis. Well written and very well acted. Definitely a show not to miss.

Better Call Saul

I am loving this show!
It falls in line, in creative excellence and artistry story telling as well as massively entertaining characters that we are used to in Breaking Bad.
If you liked Breaking Bad you cannot go past this brilliance from the talent that brought us BB.

These later seasons are turning from gold to platinum. If you haven't watched this show yet, stop everything, and binge watch it till you catch up!

Superman & Lois

This is a quick review of the eps since the return of the show after the impromptu bug pause. The show is kicking it out of the park, seriously! Some were thinking the show would lose its direction on but I'm very happy to say it seems more like there is a better focus on the characters. There's some seriously great acting by 'Lois' in ep08.

Superman & Lois

Ever thought of being A Superhero trying to juggle saving the world and making not only a relationship working but keeping a whole family purring along? If you are a Clark Kent or a Lois Lane these Superheros are making it work. I think that's what's so good about this show... It's not a show about that's already been done and done well, but this is a whole new look at this Superhero Duo as mom and dad with the trials and tribulations of the importance of making a family life work. I recommend everyone watching this. Hoping it won't be smashed to a pulp with SJW politics. That would be bad, especially with how good it's started. Well done writers, cast n crew and network! Well done indeed!

Project Blue Book

Extremely disappointed this show was cancelled! Are you kidding? Had some good actors interesting writing with some elements of historical truth as the basis.

One of the very few shows I was looking forward to every week. Aside from the panic of a basic bug going around reducing the content that is available to us this was a gem shining from the pile of manure we are forced to rummage through.

Not happy with the History channel, not happy at all.

The Terror

The Terror is a series following the same lines as American Horror Story where each season has a different story arc.

Season 1 I watched when it first came out. Even though I remember I enjoyed watching it in having trouble remembering the details of the season. As with others here there were a I remember slower moments but that only enhanced the suspense.

Season 2 I've only just started watching and I'm 'hooked' so to speak. This season is focusing on Japanese that have come to America prior to Pearl Harbour. The spirituality of the Japanese and the whole culture is captivating and the first episode sets up for a very entertaining and mystical season.

I'll return once completing this season my end thoughts. Already though for my taste this will be an enthralling ride.

From

Okay, I'm late to the show and just finished watching season 1.

I can just imagine the pitch for this show and this is how it would've gone...
'So there's a group of people we just drop in on and this community is caught up in a hole of a town they can't get out of. Then weird stuff happens'.
'Like what?'
'Have you seen Lost? Stuff like that, you know weird ass sh*t'.
'But that's already been done'.
'Yeah, but it's different... Ooooh, and it has Vampires!'
'Okay, and then you have those that talk to and see the dead, with some Alice in Wonderland sh*t going on too.'
'Right... so what keeps the audience coming back?'
'Well obviously those that die come back in memory scenes.'
'Then there's trees, strange trees.'
'And you got some Melrose Place sh*t goin' on too.'

You get the idea, I hope.

The Terror

Now that I've finished season 2, Infamy, my expectations were met. The beauty about this series is The Terror uses historical stories. This one particularly was interesting as it focused on A Japanese community that have been in America for some time with grown American born children. Then Pearl Harbor occurred. All the Japanese were rounded up and put into internment camps. Quite distressing. A demonic spirit was following a family member. The whole saga of the spirit and the trauma of this proud, respectful community plays throughout the war. This season was full of subtitles so if you don't like subtitles you may find it frustrating, but it's definitely worth the watch.

Reacher

Finished watching Reacher this week.
Finally a show with depth, some dry wit that punches you in the side when you're not expecting it and some moments that are quite touching, again when you least expect it.
Reacher, the character is good example of this series... it's not a character with a well crafted sponge costume on, it is a character that you get what you see, brawn, a unit that can crash through obstacles to crush his target.
If you like action, disappointed with flimsy stories and characters and are completely over current trends... Welcome to your new favourite show!

Penny Dreadful: City of Angels

The new announcement of the shows cancellation is not terribly surprising.
I'm a fan of Dormers so I'm hoping to see her in something as challenging yet not as convoluted as PDCoA.
I think it was trying to do too much. Like spreading butter on bread way too thin.
Maybe a sequel of the original Penny Dreadful now be looked at a little more positively.

Almost Human

This show needs to be picked up again. Keep the same two, Ealy and Urban as they played their parts well and had a great chemistry on screen. Almost Human didn't take itself too seriously, in fact I would say it had very similar traits as Stargate:SG1.

Definitely deserves a reboot on a better network, perhaps Netflix?

BrainDead

I'm not sure who categorised this as a drama/horror, but it should be relisted as Dark Comedy/SciFi... I like this show. There's been a number of times I've enjoyed a number of good belly laughs out loud. I hope we see a season 2.
