I liked it, and definitely like that it extends the timeline in which writers can play around with.
Are there thumb downs? Sure, but don't forget Star trek never looked this good before this series.
SHORT BUT WILL COME BACK TO COMPLETE ONE DAY.
Thank you to crew and cast of this show, I appreciated your effort.
Discovery was my first proper Trek show. I'd watched bits and pieces of some of the other shows, particularly TNG and Voyager when they were on TV or when my parents were watching it, and I vaguely remember watching Enterprise, but not enough to really count it in any meaningful way especially as I remember almost nothing about it.
So with all that said this episode, and the show as a whole, is particularly meaningful to me. I've grown and changed with this characters, much as I imagine those who grew up on any of the other shows did too, and it's never easy to say goodbye to anything that means so much.
But I don't feel sad. I'm so happy with how it ended, it was pretty much everything I wanted. And it was hopeful, which feels pretty perfect for Star Trek. I'll never forget this show and until we meet again, "Let's fly".
This show feels like a meeting that could have been an email.
Telling this story as a fractured narrative with no prompts to explain to the audience when you are moving from one timeline to another was a bad move that I still don’t understand the purpose of, despite nearing the end of the series. At the least, it’s unnecessary, and at most, it’s completely confounding and makes it difficult to understand the simple mechanics of what is actually happening from moment to moment.
CLAUDIA!!!!!
stuck and diminished and never getting more than a flickering moment’s worth of joy. god. she deserves to kill everyone who has ever wronged her with fire, quite honestly.
I always hate Lestat in this book and love him the rest of them. The series does a very good job of continuing to make me feel that way. I want him there, but it makes me sick to see him. lol.
ngl it took me a full minute of checking the cast list and going "wait but really" to verify that alexis louder and adina porter are playing the same woman at different ages
emma you could take a screenshot of the chat , you idiot
making all the women bisexual so there’s still the option to have them sleep with and couple up with men while writing out the only main lesbian character in years…immediately NO
Is it me or is Meredith highly sociopathic sometimes? Like, girl... trauma and grief can only explain so much.
great episode mystery-wise but a lot of unanswered questions...
All the things I like from a Doctor Who episode. A good storyline, a good message, memorable quotes, and for the first time for me, the Doctor FELT like the Doctor, up to and including little nods to the past which I was worried we wouldn't have. Sad that it was just one episode from him as I'd love him back full time, but I'll take what I can get.
Wait so the people on the future could actually send people back so why the fuck didn’t the future resistance group send someone back to kill Mannix before everything started. This is so stupid writing.
I have to get this off my chest somewhere: Lucas has to be one of the most insufferable characters to ever be on the show. The actor does him no favors with the fucking face he constantly has on and the way he delivers lines like he's dead inside. And when he does have emotional moments, I just feel like punching him in the face. I can't stand Lucas, for real. I care nothing about what's going on with him. Don't even get me started on Simone. They deserve each other, they're so annoying.
Decisions, decisions and more decisions. At least someone was able to call it.
So the Enterprise is on its way to the final clue, can't wait to see how it all comes together. :thumbsup_tone1:
I don't hand out 10s lightly, but, for some reason I cannot explain, this was the most attention grabbing, engaging, mesmerising streaming episode I've watched in a long time.
I guess I'm the only one who thinks this show is a mess. Like, randomly written by an AI bot, ironically.
This show is beyond unhinged.
Still frustratingly confusing about what this show is really about. Quests? For who? Do we have to wait until the season finale to know?
I miss S1 Chucky so much, this old chucky is great but he just doesn't hit the same
Beautiful film, but I wasn't high enough to understand what the hell was happening.
The Green Knight is an epic character study that takes it's time following the path of a man finding worth in his life, but that slow progression is also its downfall.
This movie was really gripping at first, I was invested in the first 30 minutes but that flow slowly starts to fade during the mid-section. At this point the scenes begin to drag a bit and the story jumps from one section to the next so quickly that it can be a bit disorienting as to where you are. Despite the slight pacing issues, this film is still a treat to watch.
The visuals and the atmosphere of this film is really well done, each scene felt perfectly crafted. The mix between CGI and practical affects are a real bright spot as today so many movies rely too much on the computerized effects. The tone had me completely captivated, as adventure unfolds there are many darks turns where our protagonist has to preserver to get to his objective. This perseverance is what evolves him as a character and is what enables him to be worthy of knighthood. I bought that evolution due to the fantastic job Dev Patel does in this film.
Patel encapsulates so much of what Gawain is, a reckless and immature child who has done nothing with his life. This causes a great deal of insecurity as he feels not worthy to be in the presence of his uncle, the king, even though he has royal blood. The sense of unsureness is carried throughout the film brilliantly by Patel, and it is not until the end where he truly becomes worthy for the crown. This performance is spectacular, and Dev Patel deserves all the accolades for this film.
Overall, The Green Knight was a really interesting experience. Although it does not warrant its runtime and pacing could have been done better, it is still an excellent film that I enjoyed. Even after watching, the more research I do and more I think about it, the more it gets better due to the complex symbolism and presentation that does not make itself known on the first watch.
Grade: 83%
Verdict: Great
It was a decent Dracula movie. It's a limited number of people stuck on a boat, so they did with it what they could.
Adorable, interesting, poetic, intriguing, dark, loving and a little scary, as well as good characters.
Ep summary:
Gabby: XENA!!!
Brunnhilda: GABRIELLE!!!
Beowulf: GABRIELLE!!!
Xena: GABRIELLE!!!
lmao Gabby is quite the popular one in this ep.
They couldn't have done Fallout any more justice.
What makes Fallout so special is the stories of the games themselves. Moreso that the fascinating, visually distinctive post-apocalyptic America it sets up can act as a perfect playground for messy people. Factions and individuals with a forever interesting blend of conflicting motivations for pursuing the same goals with a weird yet effortless tone mix of serious vs goofy.
The TV show captures that perfectly. Episode 4 is the best one yet, upping the stakes whilst still spinning a thoroughly entertaining blend of drama, action, intrigue and comedy. Just this time around the pace is much tighter than usual. It feels like a flowing, interconnected narrative rather than watching several parallel stories playing out separate from one another.
I hope this runs for 10 seasons. Things can only get better from here.
