This show was BADDDDDD.
Not sure what those people were smoking that thought it was good, but it was complete nonsense. And the main actresses....my God was she ever terrible. A lot of these dubbed Netflix shows have been good, BUT NOT THIS 1!

@mizzyc367 - SO BAD! I'm struggling to finish it.

First Kill

After 2 episodes: Main couple has great chemistry, though you could tell everything from the huntress girl's face. So the twist that she knew all along wasn't a twist at all and I was shocked that they felt they need to do everything from her perspective so ppl knew she knew. Also, for very old vampires, the adults including the sister are so dumb/naive. Idk, this whole liver thing, I was 100% sure they're going to start believing she didn't kill her but somehow they were more convinced?! Like how?! Even with the mention of the brother I don't think he could be acting like her but doing such stuff so I find sooooo unbelieveble I couldn't watch. If it were a straight main couple I don't think I would be watching passed that point but well... I crave anything sapphic and I really want to give credit to the main actressess which are still unknown.

UPDATE after whole season: first and last episodes were the best, so the showrunners know how to make an impression, also I'm so disappointed that they stick to making Oliver bad, I really liked the twist with him not being responsible and I hoped they gonna leave it at that. I get that he might want the revenge but his last words about power wasn't that logical for me. Nevertheless, I didn't want him to be the bad one after the reveal of his past.
About the point with adults being dumb, it somehow vanished BUT there were so many moments when sth was revealed or sth just happened and I wondered how a person would react to this or if someone did sth I wondered "well, they still dont know about this" at it was revealed in the next convo that the adult already knows it. Like, it infuriated me not only bc it wasn't shown that the person get to know it but also it wasn't revealed HOW the heck they get to know the things. The least infurationg example is after Juliette's First Kill it wasn't even mentioned. The first thing is that in one ep the whole family believed she killed viciously and were afraid that she might be a murderer, then after 2 eps of lies Margot says that she knew all along that Juliette didn't kill anyone, and just another ep after that Juliette is after the First Kill, happy strong and without even hiding it and noone from the family asked who the heck she killed, only to be revealed at the 7/8 ep that she buried the body and Margot being shocked at the stupid idea. LIKE WTF!!! Idk if I just ask for too much logical behavior from a YA tv show after all those Riverdales and Gossip Girl and whatnots but jesus the parents are supposed to be old vampires !!!! HAVE SOME INTELLECT!!!

If you can turn off your brain maybe youll survive this.

loading replies

@kizz-n-tell - "If you can turn off your brain maybe you'll survive this." PRECISELY why I've been enjoying it. The story is decent, but there's no heavy thinking required so it's cheesy enough to just relax and pass the time. I hope they get a second season.

I've never watched Bridgerton, nor do I intend to (just not my kind of thing), but I took a chance on this short series, and it did not disappoint.

7/10 - for the emotional damage. That final episode packs a heavier punch than Princess Augusta's pear brandy.

Petra's hands have been tied this season. Was so satisfying to see her take the power back with her favourite pen :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I won't accept that's the end of Alder. We can't lose her two seasons in a row!

Alder will be back if the synopsis for 3x10 is to be believed, they wouldn't dare get rid of the star of the show. I sincerely believe the fans are obsessed enough to riot.

Such an odd episode. It took such a gear shift from what it was building in multiple places and suddenly wrapped them up with jarringly neat bows.
Alder was suddenly fine, Prez, Marshall and M made it out the situation that only moments before seemed dire, everyone got married la la la.

I can only assume it was around this point that they knew this would be a final season so had to expedite threads that weren't meant to be finished yet.

A similar thing happened with the final season of Angel but felt a bit more organic there at least.

@reiko_lj - It IS awful! Single is apparently not an option, how insulting. Anyway, I choose to think of Gregorio as just another potential "baby daddy" five year hook up. This is the only acceptable explanation because Talder is the real soul mate deal.

Only "a bit" cringe?! I had to avert my eyes from the screen a few times during that campfire cringefest. Lol, EW! I actually do think that Abigail might be pregnant though, have thought so for a while now. We'll see.

Wentworth: 3x11 The Living and the Dead

One of the best episodes of the show so far. I can't decide what I like the most about this episode, it has so many great moments.

The scene between the governor and Vera in her office was so well played. Pamela Rabe and Kate Aktinson are brilliant actresses. Then there was Vera's scene in the stairwell (she is finally growing some balls!) which was also amazing.

But if I had to pick one, I guess I'd choose this excellent scene with the governor and her father... I loved the fighting and the unexpected outcome. That scene took me by surprise.

I can believe the intern did, I can even believe Meredith did, but Bailey talking about reading Tessa's books when she was a child, HA! The woman is NOT that old.

Loved the symbolic burning down of the old to start anew, that was cool... and the editing, the lightning graphic over the show title was really nice, literal silver lining of the episode. Yes, I'm being petty about the fact that the rest of it was all over the place. Link and Jo, Hunt and Teddy, Maggie and Winston, Meredith and whatshisnamenewguy, Bailey and Ben with the show cross-over ish... all the stupid tension is not entertaining. There's drama and then there is this dragged out, incredibly annoying childishness - just discuss it and get it over with, like mature adults.

Not sure how I forgot this and its sister show are essentially soap operas, but I'm truly tired of the melodrama and excessive relationship/romance bs, the bad dialogue, and Hunt's stupid facial expressions. It has been a (mostly) fun run, but I'm ready for it all to end, it's time.

loading replies

@nicky2910 - I see what you're saying, and yeah, it's plausible that she read them as a much older child, it's more of an issue with the actor cast to play Tessa, in my opinion she doesn't look that much older than Bailey, so it's hard to believe what Bailey said about her Nana buying her the books when she was a child... the author must have had to start as a teen herself. shrug

I like this episode (but I'm perhaps one of the few who think that TNG's pan-sperm episode was an intriguing notion). I like that the alien species is front and center of this episode. And they show us a mirror. I can see Darwin, Galileo and others in this mirror.

Can't understand why she reacted so negatively about it, though, as it seems like something right up her alley.

loading replies

@misnomer - I think it would be a human-android hybrid. Mother's rejection of the child may be because it would mean acknowledging that she is more than what she was programmed to be, embracing her uniqueness. It may also be especially emotionally jarring for her if the child is her creator/lover's... though I'm also not ruling out the possibility that Marcus may have raped her while she was held captive. Then it would be a situation not unlike Tempest's own.

Also thinking it's now within the realm of possibility this child may end up being the very orphan child prophesied. Wouldn't that be something eh?

The Last of Us: 1x03 Long, Long Time

What a cute episode. I'm surprised there are so many people calling it a filler episode when in reality this is what the show is all about - what is happening to "the last of us" - which includes how people survive, why they want to survive, how they continue life, what they choose to fight for and who they choose to fight for. The part that I don't understand is why when you find this well guarded place, now uninhabited, with power and supplies and a radio, you would choose to leave...

loading replies

@8lettersuk - Well said, that is exactly what the show is about, the many faces of humanity (literally and figuratively).

About Joel and Ellie choosing to leave - at this point they still have their mission to get Ellie to the Fireflies... further encouraged by the guilt that came with losing Tess (Joel feeling like he failed to protect her, and Ellie knowing she's immune and unable to do shit to help others... yet), Tess, whose last words were to beseech Joel to continue the mission... sigh... yeah...

Ok, so they mentioned Sisko very briefly in this alternate/mirror/parallel universe, so I'm hoping (but barely because I'm really a cynic) that either he, or Bashir, or Dax ffs will be "The Watcher" when they travel back to 2024.

Look, I'm just desperate for trek universes to converge, and if they're going to touch an already established fixed point (and 2024 IS a cannon fixed point), they had BETTER give Cpt. Sisko/Brooks his rightful due. We've seen/heard all the other primary Federation Captains in recent Trek shows and some of the tertiary ones, even Dukat and Martok have had honorary mention now! Come onnnn man! This is the time and place (pun intended) to put right the wrongs done to our beloved DS9 Captain.

An immigrant child in a new school battling hormones and her mother's Senegalese traditions tries so hard to fit in she breaks.

Cuties / Mignonnes is everything but cute. It's rough, hard, brutal, tragic and very real. Director Maïmouna Doucouré paints the gut wrenching portrait of the young lady and the clique she's dying to enter with sensitivity, soul and a touch of magical realism that mark the reader like a dark tattoo.

Amy is a complex character (terrifically written by Doucouré and played to a T by Fathia Youssouf) because in the same instant she elicits our sympathy, our anger and our disgust. She makes all the wrong decisions for all the right reasons and because for an 11-year-old on the threshold of puberty, there is only right now and desires that blind them from seeing any consequences of their actions.

As for the ridiculous controversy launched by those who haven't seen the film and fueled by blind ignorance: I find it interesting that people will criticize a female woman of color for directing a film based on her personal experiences, whereas when Woody Allen makes a film about young women throwing themselves at older men, he's hailed as a genius.

Shame on those who shame someone for trying to tell their story. Cinema is meant to be a stage for sharing, not an arena for executing artists we judge despite knowing nothing about them or their art.

"...you haven't lived my life. You have the privilege of believing in what's best in people, me, I happen to know there are some things in this world that don't deserve forgiveness." - M'benga

...and he's 100% right. Shit, this episode hit so hard it set off my own PTSD.

Also, sure, everyone deserves a second chance, but only if they've owned up to what they've done and faced the consequences. If a person has changed or is working toward change, they'll accept that as a consequence not everyone will forgive them, and they'll respect other people's feelings (even if the feeling is hatred).

General Rah didn't earn forgiveness for his atrocities, he never owned up to what he did. Ortegas saw through his pretense, while M'benga and Chapel tried to give him the benefit of the doubt, but he was one stubborn and cowardly Klingon who ultimately deserved what he got, a dishonourable death. May he eternally face his consequences in Gre'thor.

loading replies

@nicky2910 - Chapel definitely gave Rah the benefit of the doubt, and encouraged M'Benga to do the same. M'Benga never forgot nor forgave his own guilt for what he did on J'Gal, he literally hid his shame in a box, but Rah came and forced it open. He tried to avoid Rah but (the aptly named) Rah in his self righteousness kept pushing into M'Benga's space. Ultimately M'Benga gave in and gave Rah the recognition came for, albeit not in the way he expected.
