Great episode. True what she said though. Didn’t do Jack shit except motivate the next generation to hate and bomb America. The only people Americans can kill / steal shit from and not worry about any retaliations are the Native Americans, blacks, Latinos, and all the other smaller nations who don’t have the monetary means to strike back.
Overall, this season was more boring than the first one by quite a lot. A spy drama thrives in the mystery of it all, and this season all the cards were on the table practically from the very beginning.
Also, leaving the spying game and double crossing aside, there was no real conflict this season. In season one, the lives of millions of people were at stake in a race against the clock, while Joe's life was at stake at every turn. There was danger. There was mystery. The stakes were incredibly high.
This season was spent developing the romantic relationships and personal stories of side characters, who mostly ended up dead. So... pointless. And in the end, the plot wasn't revealed, the mole wasn't exposed, the whole truth wasn't learned. All pertinent players died, and their secrets died with them. All loose ends were tied far away from prying eyes. What's to keep this from happening again? The CIA lost 3 of its people, 2 of whom vanished without a trace. It all feels unfinished to me.
To anybody asking themselves "why display the green environment, even if just for the few moments before they die":
Well, so they'd clean the lens of course. A simple and cheap trick so nobody unpunished has to go outside to do so...
I've lost count of how many times i yelled for them to stop being so damn LOUD
This season has been awful. Season 1 was decent, 2 was bad, but this one is truly terrible. This finale was the only episode that was even mildly enjoyable in any way. Glad it's over.
I'd say that in general this season had some of the best Jodie episodes for me, and Dan quickly became my favorite of her companions... but nothing changes the fact that there was just too much going on. Too many characters, too many plots to tie together. I shouldn't be very surprised by my disappointment... but I was surprised anyway, there was so much wasted potential.
In the end, there was zero pay-off with Swarm, Azure, and Passenger, they were gone in seconds and there was never any big revelation. Swarm loved to talk as if he was secretly someone tied to the Doctor's past (in the same vein as The Master or another past Time Lord), but was just someone going up against "Division" I guess? (I'm starting to think they're overestimating how interesting the "Division" plotline is.)
The Grand Serpent was absolutely of no consequence other than to bring back Kate Stewart I suppose, yet her interactions with the Doctor were small, and not really as fun as they could've been? And also... so... many... Sontarans. Why so much focus on the Sontarans and their plans, when they already had an entire episode about their conquest, and were defeated before? I don't know if it's because COVID affected the amount of episodes, but everything just fell flat as hell.
I hate being so negative - I really did enjoy these episodes more than the past couple of seasons and there were plenty of memorable moments, including great supporting characters. But it feels so frustrating that they didn't capitalize on all the buildup. I'm definitely looking to the Thirteenth Doctor's specials though - maybe we will see some of it come back and get a better resolution. All I hope is Jodie gets the sendoff she deserves, because even though I had plenty of issues with this era of Doctor Who, she's a great performer and wonderful Doctor.
Yeah, OK, we get it: only one of the kids has super powers for now, ... but why fucking exclude him from the whole "Trip down family history lane", he's still your kid Superman, Jesus. Way to divide the family.
You know when shows run out of ideas and they do the black and white 1900s episode with the same actors, yeah this is that....
Dang this episode annoyed me. Riproar was corny!! It was obvious from the moment William told the story who riproar was. His movements were whack. The near disaster and how it was avoided didn’t sit well with me. I’m not digging the fact they basically traded jimmy for his sister. Not feeling the romance with Alex. The last relationship she had felt right. This one feels forced on us. Hope this episode was a one off.
This isn't a regular episode, it's a documentary. As much as I love the show I think I will skip that one. What a cheap way to get to an episode count of 100.
I wonder how that bio thread plot will play into the campaining because right now it seems there isn't any connection whatsoever. It just seems to be there to give Maggie Q a spot on the show.
So everyone fucked in the last Episode. isnt that great? ;-)
Ah yes, the old suck sunlight out plants trick.
The scene in the airplane was one of the most ridiculous things I’ve ever seen on tv. And what’s with all this adoption agency nonsense.
Never thought I'd see Lucifer and Ella strutting butt naked into a nudist resort, but first time for everything I guess.
Dan seriously needs to fuck off. All he's done so far this season is mop around and be an asshole to everyone. He needs to stop blaming Lucifer for Charlotte's death. And he's seriously mad that an unarmed police consultant (whose supernatural powers Dan isn't aware of) let an armed murderer and human trafficker go? Nah, son. Get out of here with this shit.
Maze just made me cry in this episode. Remember what she was like in the pilot? She's changed so much since then and I love it.
So Lucifer is back to embracing his devil side. Eve is a bad influence on him and I'm sure it's not gonna end well.
Father Kinley, what an asshole. I wonder what his plan is. If he wants to create conflict between Lucifer and Chloe, it must be for a reason.
I really like how conflicted Chloe is and how she keeps going back and forth between almost believing Lucifer is a monster and knowing deep down that he's not. I think it's all very in character. Also I want to punch myself for not immediately getting that there was a deeper meaning behind Chloe taking Trixie to Rome of all places when it was mentioned last episode. You know, Rome. The place where Vatican is. I feel stupid.
Also Linda is pregnant with an angel baby? Should be interesting.
People please realize that episode 25 and 26 where never meant to be in season 3 but in season 4 and since Fox cancelled Lucifer they were going to waist but Fox then decided to air them anyway as an olive branch towards the fans. They weren't supposed to be the next 2 episodes of season 4 but just episodes that would come in that season.
This show can be either fantastic, a complete boredom, or unbearable. This episode had a bit of the three of them. The prison scenes are completely badass and although I'd like Ollie to suit up real quick, I want to see that badass Oliver again. Btw, Ollie's prison buddy is totally gonna be bad at the end of the season. The dude was way to happy and thrilled to use the guard's family to threaten him. Also, "What's the plan? Beat him up? Torture him for info?" "No, we do it my way". Question here, since when is that not Oliver's way?
The flashforwards are on their own interesting enough. I'm dying to know what the help has happened with Oliver and Felicity anyway the hell is Roy doing there all alone.
I'd watch 42 minutes of Dinah and Laurel teaming up and being absolute badasses. Their scenes together were gold and they have great chemistry together. I loved how Laurel came back at the end to apologize for killing Vince (justice for him, lol) and how she wants to be good despite all the evil she's done. Also, trying to kill the DA is nothing new. I'm amazed as to how Star City manages to find new police officers and new DA who either end up getting killed or are inherently evil.
I started the season liking Felicity. Itlasted only 1 episode. How exactly does seething she's get Diaz? By whining at him u til he surrenders? I'm starting to count Felicity's fuck up from now on.Id hate if Diggle or anyone elsestarts making excuses for her, like-new always do. I mean, she almost got John killed and he apologized to her. Seriously, wtf?
Is it me order anyone else disconnect when Felicity and Curtis aretrying to magically hack something? I feel like if I paid attention, I'd just go crazy. Did they just hack a trip to separate the wagons?
And how did Diaz get that flamethrower? Did he summon it or what? because it just appeared in his hands.
I can't believe the writers gave us Prometheus, a badass villain, for just one season and that we're stuck with Diaz for two.
IMO, this is the best RTD episode for the new season. However, as others have noted, there are a number of large holes in the story. Questions remain like, why was the Doctor absent, where did he go, and what did ghost Ruby say to people to make them run off and treat young Ruby like persona non grata?
6/10 - for an intriguing story and decent acting.
I'm surprised they did another Doctor light episode, but I very much enjoyed it. That's three in a row now!
I'm just so glad that this show appears to be worth watching again.
RIP Josh.
The end is near so of course Julie Plec must again kill as many fan favorites as she can.
She's so edgy sometimes I'm worried she could cut herself. [mic drop]
The finale felt too abrupt, too many loose ends. For example, what happened to Elizabeth's plagiarized work? Especially now having Calvin's biological mother in the picture now and her wealth.
It's a shame they lost the freeway issue, but I thought that was realistic. I didn't expect a happy ending there. Sometimes fighting for things that matter to you end just like that – for you losing on the matter and losing all the hard work you've done too. I never read the book, so I don't know if that story was even part of it.
What an amazing show. It‘s such a heartwarming but also an exceptionally tragic story that is told so well. Brie Larson really shines in her role and the performances were brilliant across the board. Can’t recommend this enough.
Calvin's backstory was explored in the book, but not to this extent. I appreciated a whole episode devoted to it and am angry all over again about what happened to him, especially now that it's been reframed.
I KNEW IT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN BUT STILL:broken_heart::broken_heart:
The final showdown with The Lady was anticlimactic as such things often are, and it seemed as if they did a poor job of allotting enough time to it in terms of how they mapped out the entire final season. Still, there was much goodness to be found here, and everyone got a nice ending -- including Khlyen and The Lady's former shell. Heck, even Zeph was tolerable. Mostly. And it was good to see Pip again.
As Johnny and Lucy prep to head off for a year's worth of adventures on their own, I'm already wondering if there's gonna be a reunion movie at some point down the road...
So, was this a series finale? Because it felt like one and, if it was, then it was a tad underwhelming. Some regulars barely had any screen time (Fancy, Pree, Haircut), while others had a wee bit too much (Zeph & Pippin). Also, that "epic showdown" from this episode's synopsis is clearly overselling it.
Not a great way to end the show but, then again, this was never a great show, to begin with. Still, it was an OK episode.
I still miss Dark Matter, though, and I do feel that Sy-Fy cancelled the wrong show, at the time. Anyway, farewell, Killjoys, you were a fun joyride.
"I'm gonna miss this!"
