Overall a good Batman movie. There were times I felt like they tried too hard. Riddler was a good villain but at the end you question if he was actually a good villain for this version of the Batman films. With likes of Bane as a main villain in the past, the Riddler seems a bit pointless. Introduced another Joker…how many do we need? They have had so many reboots and ongoing characters of the same…you don’t know what’s going on. Lol
Pattinson was good, but the storyline was bland for what he was trying to do. There was a lot of brooding ... Too much maybe, even for a Batman movie. Zoe was great as batwoman as well and they had decent chemistry, but something was off about that relationship bud. Three hours was too much, I couldn't stay concentrated on what was happening and couldn't get into the full story. It could have been done so much better for the cast and budget they had. And Collin Farrell was there? I couldn't even tell ... That's disappointing
I though that Batman with George Clooney is the worst Batmen ever... but I was wrong, this is even worse
Too overhyped. Doesn't live up to my expectation. Cannot hold a candle to Nolan's movies. Not to be nitpicky, but as for a vigilante who will not use a gun to kill people, this batman sure doesn't mind a car chase that potentially would kill a dozen people.
after 30 minutes it whas enough
Best DV so far on OLED
The diet version of The Dark Knight, this film has an infectiously cool, noir-esque atmosphere underscored by a moody soundtrack, but not much of the thematic grittiness is translated into action. Pattinson's Batman is introduced as a troubled, vulnerable character guided by a desire for vengeance, yet is seemingly invincible and never has to hurt the bad guys too hard. Hell, his most destructive act is purely coincidental, as he trashes a highway and probably kills a bunch of civilians just to chase a false lead because he thinks a rat with wings equals a penguin ...? Anyway, I would have liked to see that inner conflict with his desire for vengeance vs. his identity as a vigilante more, because for me that's the selling point of Batman as a character.
I hate this version of Batman. Simple as that. Mentally ill emo boy walking in shadows and winning gunfights with his fists. This works in comic books but in movie its funny. No chemistry with Alfred. Completely retarded version of Bruce Wayne, and i could go on and on….
Bring back master Nolan please.
Buzz around this movie are too much.
it's not a bad movie but not a great movie.
Overall a fine movie. Begins with the hype of are we going to get another octane filled high action movie, as it settles in your realize there is very little action and it’s basically a detective movie with Batman. Performances are great but an interesting story and substance is lacking. After I realized this will no way reach the high bar for all Batman movies Nolan set, I wanted it to end and wrap
Up the last hour quickly.
this movie is about the riddler's parasocial relationship with batman
the actor was ok. the script was ok, just feel like everything was produced in a rush, this could of being really good, and potential was wasted.
Dark knight is still the Goat but this rendition has some decent moments in a slower take on the franchise.
I'm not the biggest fan of DC movies, but The Batman was a pleasant surprise. The dark, dreary atmosphere that tends to weigh down other DC movies is used effectively here. I loved the complex, layered story and the acting was solid. A little longer than it needed to be but I can overlook that given how enjoyable the movie is overall.
Did we need another batman movie? No
Was it good? Yes, so go watch it!
Very well done. The low volume had a negative impact on my experience.
The Batman resembles a classic film noir. The soundtrack is great and Gotham City provides a fantastic backdrop. Matt Reeves hit it out of the park.
The tricky thing about reviving a long-lived franchise is, it’s always going to be compared to its predecessors. And, as the caped crusader goes, that history is awfully long and speckled. Tim Burton dealt with this when he helmed the 1989 iteration, dodging complaints that it was so fundamentally different from the Adam West camp of twenty years prior. Christopher Nolan fought an uphill battle in overcoming the damage inflicted by Joel Schumacher’s missteps. Now, in the wake of Ben Affleck’s turn beneath the cowl, Matt Reeves faces a different, but similar fight in justifying his vision of a spandex-clad detective in the crumbling urban decay.
Reeves gives us a younger Batman, less seasoned and polished than the Kilmer/Clooney/Affleck years, but also not a rookie. This isn’t an origin story; this bat’s reputation has already been established in Gotham and he’s fostered a tenuous working relationship with certain members of the police force. He’s visible enough to draw the attention of a violent, counter-culture master criminal who addresses hints and clues like love letters and sprinkles them around his prolific crime scenes. But he lacks that grand, accomplished sense of supreme confidence: a patrolman who’s still learning his beat, he makes mistakes and takes lessons from them. Actually, he makes a lot of mistakes. This Batman is neither impervious in a fight nor unmatched in an intellectual sense. He often seems like he’s out of his depth, reacting and improvising to events beyond his control. That can be humanizing, but it also limits his aura. In terms of raw energy and dramatic appearances, this rendition ranks near the bottom. I might even call him dull.
That’s a problem with the whole film, in fact. It has inspired and effective moments, isn’t demonstrably bad, but constantly feels clinical and lethargic. There’s very little dramatic spectacle, so I was never wowed. For all the boastful talk about emphasizing the detective aspect of his character, Batman himself doesn’t actually solve much. Alfred cracks most of the riddles, and when he’s eventually indisposed, the Riddler complains that his counterpart isn’t getting to the answers fast enough. Robert Pattinson’s take on the leading role is... okay. He looks the part while in costume, but often overacts, and his take on the brooding Bruce Wayne, as I’d feared, falls on the wrong side of the emo spectrum. Paul Dano’s Se7en-influenced Riddler is a fresh reimagining, but the conclusion of his story (or lack thereof) leaves an empty feeling. Hints and implications are dropped all over the place - about Gordon, the Penguin, Catwoman and other noteworthy rogues who shall remain nameless - but none go beyond the level of superficial winks. Batman and Robin’s Mister Freeze, for all his cheesy one-liners and bad costume effects, had a more cohesive, satisfying story than any of these characters.
I don’t want to give the wrong impression. This isn’t a bad effort. I admire its influences, and its chutzpah for wearing them loudly on its chest. Gotham is dark and gritty, its corrupt politicians serving as an appropriate mirror to their real-life counterparts. The costumes and set designs look great. But, in a strange way, I feel that it tries too hard to match the execution of 2019’s Joker without really grasping what made that movie tick or why the two should be distinctive. Both are deathly serious, heavily visual, mood-reliant character pieces, but where Joker limits its iris to a small, tight group of characters, The Batman is overwhelmed by its cast. Joaquin Phoenix takes us on a private journey in the former film, and it’s meaningful when his arc is resolved. Pattinson, by comparison, never progresses beyond looking mopey in the rain.
There were portions of this film that I truly enjoyed and portions that I could've done w/ out. Since there was much more good than bad, I'll start w/ what I liked:
As for what I didn't care for:
nice movie for a beggining
I think it's a step in the right direction.
Cons:
Action was OK, not great.
The riddler was over acting being a crazy psychopath, especially the was he talked. It was cringe.
Batman drawing on the floor was really dumb, he's supposed to be good with computers...
Pros:
Batman is finally doing detective work! I loved the way he worked with the police.
I liked how he didn't force his voice to be overly deep. He just sounded very calm and serious.
Robert Pattinson acted well in this.
I liked Batman's character development in this, with him realizing it's not all about vengeance.
This movie felt like a side-quest on a Arkham video-game.
Not even a memorable moment that makes you want to rewatch again on Youtube.
Not on the top 3 of the best Batman movies.
turned off movie at 1hr42min after the "White Privilege Assholes" comment by Catwoman. Hollywood just can't help themselves. I wanted to enjoy a movie without rich racist POS Hollywood writer's preachy Woke nonsense.
I'm here just for the amazing soundtrack.
Robert Pattinson was fantastic.
Thats it, thats the review.
8/10
if you wanted :asterisk_symbol:really:asterisk_symbol: depressing, bleak, sad city despair, this doesn't quite scratch that itch. BUT it's a great neo-noir and an enjoyable 3 hours. the soundtrack is at times kind of repetitive but in a well-timed way, honestly. i will gladly listen to ave maria in all its forms until i die.
pattinson is such a good actor, it's kind of offensive. but jeffrey wright was my favorite in the film, with zoe as a close second. also: the red theme makes me long for a live action batman beyond—can it come in a decade or so with ben affleck as cranky old man bruce? because he hit that particular character trait perfectly in his movies.
anyway. very typical batman content which is to say the general batman character is a family-friendly sad orphan with a standard hero's journey arc in which he tries to find his purpose. because of that, i think pg-13 works for gotham, personally. give me an r rated film that adapts the joker who cuts his own face off and wears it as a mask, though, i'm here for it.
good soundtrack, i like it.
Okay. I can’t say anything bad about it. It was good.
Wonderful performance of Paul Dano as the Riddler! This is all I wanted for a Batman reboot!
I need to go watch the Nolan films to cleanse myself from this evil.
Far too long. Got bored after 30 minutes. Only the last 30 minutes saved this movie.
A bad scene is when Cat women shooting her father, it’s only 2-3 meters, but she missed, usually when you missed your target at first time, you’ll keep shooting, but she stopped.
The rest are awesome, the whole story is about lie and finding truth, lost and trust yourself again. Personally I don’t like the new Bat at first time, because Christian Bale version is so great. But when the movie ends, I was shocked, Robert Pattinson version is a younger Bat, that’s why he feel lost sometime, it’s perfectly fit in the story.
Just finished. I enjoyed it. Dark and moody. Far too much intense flashing/strobing lights took me out of it in parts. This affects me specifically though, many won't be bothered by this...artistic choice. Colin Farrell's makeup was a 10/10 as the penguin. Dano was suitably deranged as The Riddler. Pattinson was very good and had good chemistry with Kravitz. Solid, but unspectacular entry into the canon. 7.4
I really struggled with this movie. I had to stop halfway through and only came back after there was nothing else to watch a few days later.
Honestly this did not seem like a Batman movie. It did not seem and feel like Gotham city. The characters were all off. The only part of this that connected with the character of Batman was the title of the movie.
This was dark. It was long. But at the end of the day the entire movie was completely irrelevant. Nothing happened in this movie that I connected with or was invested in. The graphics were okay with the actual story The villain and the hero were all subpar.
If you have not watched this movie yet save yourself the trouble
boring, long, without plot, poorly made costumes, ugly batmobile... I didn't like it at all. If I liked the music
Best superhero movie since Joker and Deadpool. Best Batman movie ever made.
This is dark, cinematic and, like Joker, actually has a story and characterisation!
If you love every Marvel movie then you won't like this.
It was pretty good, not very good but pretty good. DC is a mess though, there are so many universes to keep track off, the kid from Titans was in the movie, scratch that cause their Batman's from Game of Thrones, then there's the Snyderverse, which i guess is still on, cuz "the justice league" appeared at the end of Peacemaker, and now this creates another shared universe.
Could have being a masterpiece. I like the style, atmosphere, acting, the way it shot, nice message at the end...
As far as you could go in comicbook film without outright saying that Bruce should just drop the costume and start focusing on treating the problem rather than the symptom.
Script should have being way more polished or the world less realistic for all of it to work properly in the end. Dialogues and the way characters interacted Gordon - a man perplexed by absolutely anything was the worst example of it. Batman deduction degraded drastically with time to questionable levels felt too "dumbed down" for no good reason. A simple plot was derailed thanks to that a couple of times.
I don't know how to rate this film. It had amazing potential that it slowly lost. It is not a bad film by any stretch of imagination. It didn't felt edgy for the sake of being edgy. Runtime didn't drag it down. The dead inside main character had a major flow that was properly addressed in satisfying way, especially for comic book movie standards. But dumbed down parts standout so much... That ironically enough if other parts were on the same level as "dumb ones" it would make a better overall movie.
8 is low for all the effort that went there. At the same time film desperately needed more time for script writers to smooth things out or smarter test audience.
Good overall but clearly below the Dark Knight. Clear issues are: it feels like Batman got confused and ended up in a Seven sequel; weak ending; lamest batmobile ever; lack of strong musical theme.
One of the best, if not the best, Batman movies IMO. Great acting and script and a very good story. My two complaints would be that Pattinson doesn't pull off the Bruce Wayne part at all, and I mean at all, well, way to 'Goth' and that some of the dialogue / monologues were overly long and too muffled, dragging the movie out to nearly 3 hours where it could have probably lost 30 minutes or so. That said, I didn't find myself feeling overly bored with the lengthier dialogue but I did nearly reach for the F/Fwd button a couple of times. Definitely hope they do another.
I take back my original comments. This was pretty good movie (not as good as the Dark Knight of course). Little too long but it was entertaining all the way through.
Surprised by the new Batman. Didn’t think he would be good but I was proven wrong. But damn the guy who played The Riddler, amazing acting.
Looking forward to next chapter.
Side note, surprised they didn’t push gay agenda and DN&I. And if they did, I didn’t noticed because it was so well balanced. This is how it should be done in all movies & shows. Not that in your face crap.
Wow, this was god-awful! Not Pattinson's fault, nobody could have made this shitty script watchable
Well I think I can say that Pattinson officially lost his twilight sparkle...
He portrays batman perfectly....
I really liked it! Felt like a live-action version of the 90's Batman:TAS, except for one thing (well two, but I get get behind getting rid of almost all of his quippy remarks): in this, Batman moves like a freaking tank.. It's always slow, heavy steps with heavy boots (sure, probably more realistic, but still), taking shots and even explosions from a very close distance (aaand away goes the realism).
Sure, it's very intimidating, but in B:TAS he's much more sneaky and intimidates by making it so the bad guys often don't know where he is, so he can strike how and when he wants to. The only time I got that feeling was when he [spoiler]snuck in to the club to get Falcone, and even then it was really only that first guard he snuck by in a B:TAS manner[spoiler].
Other than that, gorgeous movie! I love the style and the direction!
Also, Colin Farrell is way harder to recognise than Tom Cruise in Tropic Thunder! I like those kinds of cameos, where a famous actor is playing a role (and does it well), but you can't even tell who it is.
80 | The Batman deserved the hype. There were only a few films that could do big crime plots with such a quality. There was its twin brother The Dark Knight and The Batman tried to be better than him. He gave a good fight but still lose.
The cinematography of The Batman is great and its beats The Dark Knight in that aspect. The story is good, thanks for the climax. This film has the patience to build up the story into a fascinating climax.
Also, every character has a strong presence, we could feel that they are in charge of the room. Even the side characters have great charisma. Ironically Batman who is supposed to be the main guy is less interesting than the villain. It's also happened in Nolan's version of Batman. But it could be a good thing because without a villain there would not be a hero. They complete each other.
Watching this film could make you wonder why a lot of films that involved "(super)heroes" have a very bad national or regional security system. They seem amateur or at least less professional than the main hero. Probably, that's what most films try to say, that the system is corrupt. It feels boring sometimes when that kind of writing always comes into play. Hoping there would be a better explanation on explaining why they are corrupt. Simplified the explanation but not oversimplified it.
What the city of Gotham did to the Riddler makes him who he is right now. A corrupt place produces bad humans and bad humans produce a corrupt place. The cycle never stops. Some people who tried to stop the cycle ended up realizing, there was no way to stop it without becoming one. They only replace them. People on the losing side always complain about the injustice that happened to them but when they turn to the winning side they suddenly forgot that they are also contributing to that injustice system. That's what happened to The Riddler, you can't beat a bad guy without being a bad guy.

i was a good movie, wouldn't necessarily call it a masterpiece...nolan is still king
Okay - this was a good film. Well made, well cast and another new look and approach to the characters.
It was dull and dark though. Minimal action and what there was was unclear and often felt out of place. Long expositions of plot and everything felt so compartmentalised that it never really flowed. At least 45 mins too long and certainly lost my interest.
I can support it going forward and look forward to seeing these characters again but needs a tighter and better edited film to keep it interesting.

I don't know why every everyone dislikes this movie, it was pretty good. Story could've been shorter but since it's Batman, no story would've made sense if it was shorter than 2 and a half hours. Nonetheless, pretty enjoyable but not for a 2nd time
Full disclosure: I am generally not a fan of comic book movies. Sure, I've enjoyed some of them over the years for the bubblegum experience that they offer. That said, I really enjoyed this film. At different times it reminded me of the 60's tv show and all of the various movies over the last 30+ years, but at the same time it very much felt like a reimagining of the franchise. I think that it kept what worked (Batman as a crimefighter) and got rid of what didn't work (the cartoonish villains). I also like that the franchise seemed to be centered around Batman and not the backstory of the villains (of course, it was the focus on the Joker that allowed Heath Ledger to be a star in his final role). Instead of the villains being the freaks it showed Batman as being a freak, which is fitting because he was called a freak in earlier movies even though his character didn't seem to fit that description). The movie may have meandered a bit on the backside of the movie but I thought they did a great job setting themselves up for a nice reboot.

This movie sucks.
Sound sucks. Most dialogs are whispered. Soundtrack is boring.
Most Bruce Wayne replicas are questioning the previous sentence. “Questioning?” Yeah, questioning.
Oz, the Penguin was played very good. The Falcon too. Others act very poor.
The idea of mixing Saw inspired plot is ok. But again, this movie could be 1 1/2h long without losing anything.
Please bring Nolan brothers back into the game and let them make another Dark knight movie.
Disclaimer: Too dark, use a flashlight to watch!
To start, I loved this film. It wasn't perfect, but it was a top tier superhero film that leaned heavily into the detective aspect of Batman's lore. The mood was oppressive in how dark it was, the characters all flawed in their own ways, and world felt real & lived in. Pattinson was surprisingly a great Batman and Kravitz was an inspired Catwoman. The rest of the cast was also top notch, with Dano a terrifying villain. The few things I didn't like we're the obvious setups for sequels or TV shows or whatnot. Is it just not possible to have a self-contained movie any more? Barring those details, the hype is warranted. This is a hell of a film. Easily worth the 3 hour investment.
Not the Batman movie for me. I'll throw a 6/10 for the effort.
Very good movie and the music in this one was excelent!
An incredibly messy and janky script that doesn't know what it wants to be. It's stuck between trying to be a neo-noir detective story and a superhero movie with a supervillain and fails spectacularly at being either and both. So many scenes that are supposed to be tense that have zero stakes set up including the finale, which comes out of nowhere, dramatically raises the stakes with no setup at all and is executed awfully. And so. many. plot. holes.
This isn't a bad movie but it had no right being as long as it did. A tight 2 hour script that ended at a certain point would have made for a perfectly fine detective crime movie with a little bit of the Batman sprinkled in. As it is, it's a really meh film that ruins its own good parts with an equal amount of bad
As with his trademark nemesis, each Batman film must stand out from its predecessors. So what does Matt Reeves' version offer us, and is Robert Pattinson convincing as Bruce Wayne?
To say that, like many people, I was concerned about the choice of the main cast. White characters played by black actors, and a Pattinson who is well known from the Twilight saga, could perhaps doom the film to failure with audiences. Fortunately, in the first few minutes of the film, Reeves manages to take your mind off these thoughts.
The atmosphere is dark and depressing, what you would expect from a Gotham in Batman's early years. And indeed, that's what we can see: he's inexperienced, he needs a lot of outside help, and while you can see the fear he's managed to strike into the hearts of the bad guys, he hasn't yet made a real name for himself. A very interesting aspect of the character, and very well portrayed throughout the film.
Pattinson does very well in both roles (Batman and Wayne), and Zöe Kravitz and Jeffrey Wright are limited to supporting roles without overshadowing their co-star. Special mention must go to Paul Dano and an unrecognisable Colin Farrell. The former has managed to establish himself as one of the great villains of the Batman film sagas with a chilling role.
The three hours of film go by quickly, with a constant narrative that leaves no room for boredom and where we are not overwhelmed by constant action scenes. It's the detective Batman, not the fighter, and Reeves plays him accordingly.
An excellent Batman film, which I hope will maintain the same atmosphere and pace in future sequels.
A great comeback as a solo Batman film.Riddler was the key here as all the other villains of Batman franchise.
Appreciate the aesthetic and vibe, Pattinson, Farrell and Turturro are great, the noir mystery is a great route to go, and the action is refreshing for the character, Batman as more of a blunt instrument, a tank that doesn’t care about the damage he takes. The dark hallway scene is a standout. And I also appreciate the attempt to go beyond the usual Batman film, addressing the consequences of Batman as vengeance, but that also highlights where it falters. Paul Dano goes right into some uncomfortable tropes as the Riddler, and the film makes a lot of fuss about the system being corrupt while making sure to stress the good ones. Jim’s a good cop, Thomas is a good man… Thomas especially irks when they raise the possibility of him being corrupt only to reassure he is still the same paragon billionaire as always. The good one.
Of course I wasn’t expecting this film to be some masterful manifesto, it’s a big budget mainstream superhero film, and as one it’s pretty good, hence the three and a half stars. But the Telltale games still feel like the most daring adaption.
I'm not a fan but gave Batman another try. Still not for me. Good cinematic, boring as hell. Had to fast forward quite a lot.
Long, slow, dark, predictable… If you made it without yawning you have my respects.
The director obviously loves the original Blade Runner because he's trying so hard to create the same visuals and tone, but, unfortunately, he lacks everything else that made that movie great. The story was weak and dragging it out to 3 hours just made that more apparent. We almost quit in the first half an hour and then wound up at the 2-2:30 mark feeling as though we had to finish just because we'd already invested so much time. The acting felt like a group of actors who are normally only cast in supporting roles got together and made a movie where they could be the leads, but in doing so it became apparent why they are better at supporting. Pattinson was trying to be emo so hard but it felt like someone's dad dressing up as their kid for Halloween.
Overall, we were bored and unimpressed but I realize we will probably be in the minority. If you're a Batman or DC fan, don't let me dissuade you, go ahead and watch it. You may completely disagree with me.
Decent movie, Paterson and Dano did a good job, Kravitz less so, and of course there had to be a "white privilege" line. However, so unnecessarily long.
hahah Batman is a human getting a bomb in the face but no scratch no wounds at all :joy:
It’s an ok movie but the worst actor to ever play Batman, it’s dark like Keatons Batman but the writing and acting isn’t nearly as good..this movie might as well have been filmed any weekend in New York or Chicago and we would have seen much of the same stuff.
Riddler is literally a Instagram live streamer when he isn't killing people
Very solid movie. Who knew someone could make an even more realistic Batman than Christopher Nolan. I thought it was clearly inspired by Fincher's Seven. The atmosphere, lighting and the plot.
I knew I'm going to like this when they showed the dark around the eyes makeup and also that it wasn't like 2 ridiculous circles. It was like a makeup gone wrong. Like every time he took off his mask, you think he was messy and he had cried a lot. Also this doesn't mean every Batman movie should be bleak and dark like this. You can try different things at different times.
They think I’m hiding in the shadows. But I am the shadows.
I love this. I’ve always loved the darkness in Batman but the way this starts even makes Batman out as this dark, dangerous thing. Not the saviour of the unfortunate, but fear itself. Shadows. Even the police dislike him. But oh my gods this jawline. That’s the perfect one to put in a bat mask. And he’s so damaged and dirty. The imperfection and failures are wonderful.
The soundtrack, wrapping it all up from beginning to end, was great too. Beautifully dystopian.
They put a lot of story into those almost 3 hours, as they should. We even get a “heroes” journey. From being all about vengeance to realising vengeance doesn’t change anything.
And gosh did I just squeal when Puddin started talking there in the end?
After all of this, I think I can safely say that this is my favourite Batman of all time.
3 hour film that could have been done in less than 2, very little action and an awful lot of meaningless chat.. Very disappointing film..!!
This was a great Batman film. Robert Pattinson is a perfect fit for the role as is Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman. The movie is definitely not your average blockbuster movie but that is a good thing in the end. I especially loved the beautiful visuals and also the already iconic soundtrack by Michael Giacchino.
This was satisfying movie.
Highlights:
1. The mood: love the change to previous Batman movies. Love the characters concepts and communication.
2. The visuals: love the camera work
3. The sounds / soundtrack: love the this, so fitting to the mood. There is one tune that always evoked in me Westworld :-)
4. Villains (actors and characters): Paul Dano, Jahn Turturro, Colin Farrell - awesome acting, awesomely written characters.
extra: the pacing combined with the moon and visuals was 90% right, only in the end I felt already tired (by it and of it), yet still would rate it as very positive.
Lows:
1. Cast: Robert Pattison. a) he just looks weird b) he looks frail, whole movie I could not associate him with Batmen especially one that takes so much punishment in the movie c) His character as it was written was awesome, but at the end the melodramatic (1 emotion only) diminishes character growth at the end.
2. Cast: Zoe Kravitz, while she had more opportunity for showcasing more of acting, she was not able to draw me to her character. Again the visual frailness was disconnecting for with the action on the screen.
3. Ending: The Riddlers final plot felt to me very weak and not dangerous (rising the stakes). As well as the character growth was very moot (which is kind of ok, taking into consideration the whole pacing, mood, and narrative, but it takes something away)
While the film and acting was superb I found it to suffer a bit from the longer running time. The relationships were a little loose too but it was refreshing to see shorter action scenes and more detective work from our Bat for a change.
I look forward to a sequel
Your average weak baitman!
Dark knight was so much better!
Great and refreshing take on Batman, but more a crime movie than action. It felt too long, some pieces are great acting and Robert Pattinson did well. Interested to see how they will continue this.
Just more woke Hollywood crap imo worst Batman movie I have ever seen, So bad in fact I’m not even gonna purchase it to add to my DC collection.
I'm always going to like the miserable Gotham City and its vibe but this movie overlonged that. The story could've easily be ended in about 2 hrs give or take but they had to take it to almost 3 hours of useless bore. Nonetheless, it wasn't that bad as people had told me.
Definitely not worth watching for a second time.
coming from someone who's literally obsessed with Batman since I was a kid
this movie was average.. I gave it 7/10
it's was fun to watch but nothing groundbreaking
it's important to remember that this Batman is only 2 years into his crime fighting career so don't expect from him what a veteran Batman can do because I noticed that this Batman was:
_He's social where he's working with others and showing himself regularly instead of fighting in the dark
_His punches have no weight since everyone he hits they stand up right after
_He gets hit and fucked a lot which is expected
_His Batcave is primitive to what we're used to from a veteran Batman
so it's important to be aware of how new this Batman is before comparing it to other Batman movies.. but all that aside the movie was just fine as I said nothing special and in a way very refreshing since it's so different from any Batman movie we've seen before
at the end I'm excited to explore this world more and see Batman becomes Batman and not just Vengeance
Nicely presented, Pure emotions, Genuine human with his weaknesses, Great graphics and nice story.
I’d like to see at least 5 batsman movies with Pattinson.
I’m pretty sure this was supposed to be a 10h tv show, wrapped up in the worst possible way to get a big screen release, because no writer could do this abomination without a fair reason.
I liked many (not all) of the previous Batman movies for different reasons but this is the new benchmark for me. I liked every second of it and even at three hours I never felt bored.
This will also be hard to follow up because now expectations are sky high.
This Batman movie was good. (But not for the reasons you think)
As a person that isn't really a fan-boy/fan-girl for any of the actors and I was just watching this for the average interest of "what did they do with this film?". I wasn't very impressed overall. All the actors in this film did a fine job, and the casting was well done. The issues;
-1 how sporadic the plot of the movie was, Batman was just all over the place, and I wouldn't say it's an issue for the audience, but an issue for pacing, keeping a direction and theme.
-2 This movie was trying to be serious and there weren't any real jokes for puns- which makes sense.. but in my opinion, they utterly failed to make it serious. I was watching this film with my family and we were laughing our asses off, there is a comical amount of police in this movie, and the way batman fights was very cliche, and just the way batman's cape looks like a trash bag.. I couldn't take it seriously.
-3 This movie was missing alot, I'm used to a batman that's put into an impossibly critical situation because he is one guy against them all, or just the lonely (I don't mean emo, I mean lonely in a literal sense) aspect of Batman, it's basically him vs all of gothem, but Cat women acts like she's his side kick, cat women is a slinky love intrest, not half the damn plot.
-4 This movie was failing in having a good soundtrack, cause it was very underwhelming. Music is extremely important to convey a feeling, or how a character feels in the moment. The soundtrack was basically background noise with about two chimes of a cello every 5 seconds, that is NOT music. And the main song they picked "Something in the way" it may half had the perfect lyrics for Batman himself, but the song was not good enough to play for long stretches of time, the music only barely fit the theme of the film (The damned song sounds like an emo garage band.)
Maybe I'm getting ahead of myself by ranting. But when something is called "The batman" I would hope that everyone is a side character and Batman is in a pitch black spot light. I mean just look at the cover, they got everyone on there like it's a starwars movie.. IT'S BATMAN. I guess it's worth a watch so you know what I'm talking about.
I woulld write something longer, but I got school to do.
Ciao

I thought Robert De Niro was absolutely fantastic as the penguin
A good movie that would survive some more editing. But honestly it was kinda nice to see a film let things breathe. I think pattinson and Kravitz have excellent chemistry. The problem imo is that I don't think Wayne and Kyle have as much chemistry leaving to a weird sensation where you don't really want to see them together and yet when they are it feels so good.
Jeffrey Write needs more roles.
FYI. I refuse to take ANY Joker seriously in the first 2 maybe 3 Batman films of any specific franchise so it was great to see Riddler in this one. he was good. Penguin is a nice secondary and I can see him growing. He could be a good lead for number 2 and after that they'll probably cave and do Joker again which will be... reductive.
Fucking awful
Why the fuck is everyone whispering, all the time?
Everyone on this cast is irrelevant, no clue why any of them were cast for a Batman movie.
Could go to any crackhead in LA, give him $10 worth of crack and he'd make a better movie.
It was long and forgettable.
i guess the new trend in the superhero genre is everybody is depressed. kinda of boring to be honest. at least penguim and catwoman were good.
Well guess it's a personal thing, didn't like the Riddler in the games and didn't like him in the movies. The movie could have been called The Riddler instead of The Batman anyway.
Sllllllloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. terrible reboot. not worthy of your time. 2 hours 56 mins you are NEVER getting back.
I just saw The Batman :bat:. At least what I was able to see. Holy cheese hole, that movie was dark. And creepy. And kind of nothing else.
Max Rockatansky liked the movie.
Horrible Batman, this should of went straight to VHS
Boring, so damn boring. And that catwoman? When will we have a real blond fair beautiful Catwoman again?
But a very good movie if you have insomnia.
Nice movie. Shame that actors have nothing to express themselves upon. Couple of appealing scenes and angles. Picture is too dark.
For me this was a miss..... I'm not a big super hero movie fan, but I do love Batman. He got me through some tough times with grieving and will always be important to me.
To me, Batman represents balance. The visual balance of day vs night, dark vs light, even the giant mansion above ground vs the equal cave below. Also the emotional balance.... someone having every material possession as Wayne, but only feeling fulfillment through vengeance and literally restoring the balance of power to Gotham City.
It also seems like the city either loved him and thought he was a hero or hated him and exiled him until they realized that he was useful. . in this movie they didn't seem to like him, but they allowed him to do his thing
To me this movie was unbalanced..... it was too dark..... Even when Pattinson was Wayne he was dark.
I didn't love the batmobile.... he hardly brought out any new gadgets.... and his batsuit was seemingly indestructible.. it can stop bullets, but he should still feel the force of the blow.... I personally would break some bones if I hit a bridge at 80mph.
I did appreciate some of the nods to the Adam West Batman with the dumb jokes, and Kravitz and Dano are perfection.
Although a good film with great cinematography. I feel like Pattinson would have been an amazing Terry McGinnis and this film should have been Batman beyond.
Christian Bale is no longer my second tv batman. He’s been dethroned.
:heart:x9
First, the negative - there are a couple of dead spots we could have done without.
Now. WOW!! This is a fantastic version of the Dark Knight. As reviewers have pointed out - this movie concentrates more on the dective skills of Batman and less on big flashy fight scenes.
The Batman/Penguin chase scene was pretty awesome tho.
And speaking of the Penguin - Colin Farrell never looked better. j/k However his makeup was phenomenal. You could not tell that it was him.
One more thing. I sure wish Warner Brothers would hurry up and decide on their overall strategy for the DC movies. Currently, it seems like they change their strategy with each movie. Some kind of consistency sure would be nice.
How I rate:
1-3  = seriously! don't waste your time
4-6  = you may or may not enjoy this
7-8  = I expect you will like this too
9-10  = movies and TV shows I really love!
I loved it. Compared to this, Marvel movies look like cartoons. A little long and slow, but nothing critical.
