One of the best movies I've seen ever! One of the most nerve racking ones too! Great atmosphere and soundtrack and the sound effects when the day appears is goated and incredibly soothing but creepy at the same time. The ending song is awesome too as most J-Pop/Japanese music is. All the Ring movies are free on tubi so you know damn well Imma watch them all before the year is out!
The greatest movie ever made, if you don't like it, I'm sorry you never experienced joy or fun or anything, my condolences.
The first two acts were very slow but the last one was pretty awesome especially the staircase scene. My third George C. Scott movie. The more I watch of the two the more I think Michael Douglas could remake or stand-in for George.
Renfield looks like John Belushi. Acting is so bad sounds like they barely acted before or spoke English at all. And it isn't dubbed they are actually saying it in English I think. Music is kinda cool like a RPG game when you at a town or something resting. And did his wife give him the fucking salute when he left? Germany c'mon man it's 1979. At least the colors are cool, not too bold and bright but not too dark and colorless. And why when he said Dracula's castle that everyone looked at him like a soap opera or comedy bruh 3.8 my ass. If this was made in 2018 or something I bet you it'd be rated 3.1 or something. The shots are cool I guess but still kinda boring.
The shots, the color, and the quality are great especially for the time without digital 8k cameras and stuff. But the acting and the weird pacing is such a shame, only Nosferatu himself got any good acting at least physical acting not voice, but everyone else is like a b-movie actor or c-movie actor or something. And the clocks are cool. If this movie was silent maybe it would be way better. The choir music reminds me of Zelda :3
It appears that I'm watching the English version, idk if that means dubbed or they spoke actual English on set but I'll put the voice acting aside, hopefully on a rewatch I can see the original German version. The colors are very vivid especially in the third act, the best one so far. Maybe I was harsh on the acting but it is based on a silent German film from 1922 and that is based on a 1890s book so it's probably meant to be that way in a creepy way and not a bad acting way? Also it's German and the only other German movie I've seen is the original and Vampyr so maybe that's just how acting is there or something.
My second A24 film, very funny and colorful, very 80s indeed. And it has Jerry from Rick and Morty, Chance the Rapper, and Zazie Beetz!
Invented the slasher troupes of the 80s and 90s especially the wild and unique kills, it might be the first to do that and popularize it. Same director who made Porky's and A Christmas Story but this is his highest rated. Jess is so cute too but has a weird British accent bc she's British in real life. Thank this movie for all the B-movie horror that you know and love.
I believe this is my first Asian horror movie, y'all in Asia are talented at horror god damn :sob::sob::sob:
"Don't try anything or you're canceled brah" - Gen Z when a serial killer attacks.
Nice Terminator 2 moment when the girl from the first is awesome and gets all badass to get some revenge.
Peacock's fifth film of the curated by Jamie Lee Curtis/history of slashers collection (Psycho being the fourth) and I don't know why the score is so low on this, critics put this slightly below Psycho and I agree with them, the impact is lower but the scares are just as if not more so than Psycho. Tippi is so beautiful and wonderful in this role. This is almost 2 hours which I believe is longer than average for a 60s movie.
This was one of the first animal horror movies, 10 years before jaws, and helped to create the archetype of animal horror as we know it today. It's slow the first hour but as far as the top rated movies go I'm surprised y'all don't like it more.
The third film of Peacock's history of slasher/ curated by Jamie Lee Curtis collection. Wow, how do you improve a great first movie? Add a girl boss to it! Both lead women are great! Also for a movie that isn't based on a book or anything it's damn good! Love the set pieces and locations like the lab or the top of the castle.
Second film of Peacock's Halloween movies presented by Jamie Lee Curtis and it has many great movies on there. This came out the same year as Dracula and is in the same cinematic universe. I think people like this better is bc there's no "outdated" effects like in Dracula but I personally liked Dracula more. Boris was great in this but like superhero movies from the 70s to the 2000s, the great horror actors got typecast and only got roles like or similar to their famous one, very sad when that happens to actors and actresses.
A very amazing movie for something this old, figured I would be bored or something. There's not a whole lot of action but action movies weren't a thing until like decades later so it's not a negative, being one of if not the first horror sound picture, at least the most popular of the first wave, it's pretty great. Bela is great in this and I had no idea Van Helsing was in this or the original book, I thought he was the comic character; Also the Lego Batman director is making a solo Renfield movie so I'm hype for that. Also why doesn't Van Helsing have a trench coat or a cool hat and why isn't he Wolverine, lmaoooo. Helen is also very hot and such a queen! Bela is also a king too! If he was alive today and the same age I bet all the ladies and men would be in love with him like RDJ or Leo Dicapo.
If the rubber bats make you rate this like less than 3 and a half stars bc it's not real bats or looks "cringe", that's cringe itself. People who complain about the bats the same who complain about marvel movies being "99% fake" like bruh all movies are fake unless it's a documentary, like if a book was fantasy would you say it's bad because it's not real? This has been my adhd review of 1931's Dracula thank you for reading my review of the movie that makes up 20% of this review and the other 80% about marvel and Van Helsing.
One of the most fun and awesome blockbusters of the 2010s. Extra half star for Jack Black's performance in this. This is equal to the original in my opinion.
No I don't cry everytime I watch this, why do you ask?
"The United States has graphic violence on television all the time, we can't believe that a movie with some foul language would piss you off so much." "Because it's evil!"
Shoutout the Secretary of offense, Kyle's mom for becoming a fascist.
One of the best comedy musicals of all time underrated and underappreciated classic.
Peak Cinema. Made me feel like a kid again!
I'm just a simple man trying to make my way in the universe.
