@ptknight do enlighten me with your superior intellect
It only took me 5 minutes to start cringing at this show. American gringo with fake Russian accent. Currently there doesn’t seem to go one American show/movie by without a dig at Russia. It's okay, but could they seriously not find a native Russian actor? Is this so hard for Hollywood?

@drumnugget This isn't what the show is about. Don't be convinced not to watch this just cause one actor used an accent. It's not anti-Russian or anti-anything at all

@xz3r0 I don't know what scaries me most. The fact that you dislike a well done show with nice story and visuals or the fact that you don't know how cliffhangers works (you know they exist in all stories you read/watch, right?).
Horrible people and script. If you want rip your hair out, please watch this show. It was amusing at the beginning... but dragged on as the subject/conflict became very old between the main actors.

@guenguer How dare you not share my opinion
I didn't realize this was a Predator movie the first time I saw the poster and thought this was some random horror movie but the positive buzz certainly didn't pass me by so here we are again. After watching it I'm certainly... shocked?
From the get go this did very little to pull me in, be it the CG animals, one-dimensional plot or the the selfish attitude of our heroine. Now obviously one can argue how much that all matters when the action is good but it didn't really scratch that itch for me either... the Predator fighting with the animals was certainly entertaining but random guys biting the bullet with mostly offcam/unclear CG gore not so much. Would have been nice if they showed some wits when they fought him at the camp but somehow him going invisible is enough reason to lower their weapons and start talking to each other. She saw how the camouflage works multiple times in action already..?!!
What all those scenes, and the movie poster for that matter, certainly established, is that our protagonist has little to worry and that a showdown was coming but I would never have predicted the amounts of bullshit that would contain:
- Somehow becomes a baller and expert in alien technology. Knows when the Predator is coming, takes her magic herbs to immediately lower her blood temperature (but is not shivering and still standing up) and is in the Predators path who obviously doesn't see a standing corpse right in front of it or notices her moving out of the way...
- Never used the gun but knows the right angle to shoot and remove his mask (betting on this being a weakness when this did little to stop it before).
- Gets to conveniently escape for the n-th time and has enough time to finish up some traps (which the Predator even hit on some random tree lol).
- Gets hit to the head twice from the shield that cut through the Predators limbs, spear and even stone but is unscathed.
- Can easily remove a fang attached to it's face to save herself just in time.
- GPS dog that always magically reappears is ready to bring her the tomahawk...
- Manages to sit on top of the Predator and even pull him into the bog with a tiny rope and a much much smaller statue.
- The Predator obviously submerges immediately, but little does it know of her the grand plan to have him placed at that exact LOS of the mask in anticipation that he is gonna fire from his gun (despite not having had his mask for the whole time) while he is already targeted by the laser the entire time... b r a v o. Obviously that one shot was also enough to kill it.
...
Honest to god - how does a movie with such a contrived finale get so much praise, or even leave the script writing phase??loading replies

This show is truly just mediocre drivel. Poor CGI, poor writing, the only appeal it might have to some, are the occasional cameo and reference... but at what cost?
I regret watching this, but do so only so I can say I genuinely sat through it, yet found it to be garbage.
I cannot imagine this show getting the ratings they were hoping for. With a bit of luck, this will be a short-lived nightmare.
loading replies
@alexnader I have no idea how anybody can call that poor CGI. Much like smart hulk, she has some of the most realistic motion capture animation I've ever seen, which makes her feel like she's not CGI at all.
I never thought Euphoria would reach a point where it would make me feel indifference. There's a lot of redeemable moments this season, for sure (and please, give Zendaya all the awards), but to me the show retains only a few glimpses of its original charm and emotional potency. Which is a shame. Euphoria has always been over-the-top, but this season barely feels grounded in reality anymore. It's still undeniably entertaining, but I often struggle to feel the heart and intention that used to shine through these characters and their stories. Something's missing, and the result is underwhelming.

@klovar You realize this wasn't the series finale right? Not every show needs to act like the walking dead and end seasons on cliffhangers. The bill will come overdue.

3 Thoughts After Watching ‘Nope’:
I kept waiting, and waiting, for this film to get good. For the moment when things kick into high gear and it earns that price of admission. For me, it never got there. It always teetered on the edge of something fun and edge-of-your-seat… but it remained uneventful despite its seemingly-momentous scenes.
The pacing was all sorts of wonky. It felt like there were a lot of disconnects here, a lot of questions. Scenes that went on too long. Unrealistic character reactions and decisions. My scalp is sore from all the head scratching. I just wish this were a more structured story with all the ideas it contained.
Great cast, but the character of OJ was incredibly bland and emotionally flat. A more compelling lead character may have risen this film above all its flaws.
Bonus Thought: What was the significance of the mysterious balancing shoe?

@tvwatcha3 I agree with your review 100 percent. I'm baffled by the high ratings for this thing. It was technically sound, but this whole story was just a big wet noodle to me.
Horrifying that this is actually happening in the world. And mind boggling that more people are affected by slavery now than when it was legal.
It also sickens me that they had to battle for 5 years for this film to be shown.

Never have I seen a movie fumble so hard in the third act, but here we are. The first 2 acts are legitimately amazing and horrifying, but the writing and characters take a huge nosedive once the third act starts. The ending, if you can even call it that, didn't wrap up any of the plot threads introduced. What happened Jordan Peele?

Even aside from the ridiculous woke diverse virtue signaling, this movie is pathetic. Admittedly, the effects are top notch, but the story and acting is so bad. To be fair, the acting suffers from the ludicrous cookie cutter script. I am relatively certain AI could have written a much more original story if it was trained on more than a dozen movies.
The production companies seem to greenlight the most generic copycat crap anymore, is there really no one that reads anymore, there are abundant new authors and novels charting new directions in science fiction.loading replies
i consider myself an expert on wokeness and I didn't really find it to be super woke like most netflix movies, but it has its moments for sure. overall it's a good idea of what a star wars branded story could have looked like, since that's what it was intended to be and turned down.

@xz3r0 Must be hard living life needing to be this negative.
I watched this film this afternoon and I gotta say that IMHO the hate this film is already getting is almost totally unjustified. I think Brie Larson, Teyonah Parris and Iman Vellani did a brilliant job with their respective characters and their on screen chemistry with each other was spot on.
I agree with the criticisms I've read re: Dar-Benn the main villain, she was maybe a lil one dimensional but she was performed ok and fitted the narrative of the story as an Accuser looking to avenge Captain Marvel's destruction of the Kree empire.
I liked the final scene showing us what's to come with Ms Marvel meeting Kate Bishop, leading to the formation of The Young Avengers.
And finally there is one mid credit scene and that is a BIG reveal as we get introduced to an X-Men universe and we meet Kelsey Grammer's Beast and Binary played by Lashana Lynch (Maria Rambeau in the normal MCU universe).
For me personally this is a 8/10 film. I really enjoyed it!

@biggie10 Stop misusing the word woke like racists do. And stop bringing it up everywhere you go. They merely recycled poorly fleshed out villains because of lazy writing. The women played their characters well and their interactions were good too. It didn't have a 'feminism in your face' vibe, so there's nothing that would've annoyed you beyond the movie being a bit bland.
Reading some comments here and you loose faith in humanity.
What is the propaganda here ? what are you people talking about ? who cares if the "based on a true story" is so tru or not accurate.
Yes the theme of the movie by default will probably, probably touch you, or you can ginve an 1 and talk about propaganda crap (again what?!) .The movie broke my soul. Fantastic music, absolutely fantastic music score, Tim was awesome, the direction was really good, for hard stomachs and not for stupid people.

So generic and formulaic it could be dropped into any sci-fi setting, or none at all, and it would be equally forgettable. Time and energy would have been better spent making more episodes of of Star Trek: Lower Decks, a vastly superior show.

@mystech you watched 5%.... and made a decision about this show based on that. Interesting. Lower Decks is amazing. It's too bad you didn't give this a real chance. It's actually good. You have to remember it was made for a younger audience. Otherwise the story is actually pretty good, and so is everything else. So are the cameos - people from all the other Star Trek's.

Nobody would’ve noticed a bird falling from the tower so she wouldn’t have gotten rescued. I don’t buy the phone plot since phones don’t automatically resend messages when a signal comes in, so I’m going with the idea that someone saw a body fall and that’s how they saw her.

@klovarr we hide ratings before an item is released. Once it's released and starts getting normal ratings, the early ratings have very little effect on the overall percentage. There is a VIP forum thread where someone gives examples of this. This should be considered a support issue and not be left as a comment.
As usual the show wasn't released and had five 1* votes.
Anyway this is a fresh take on the 87's movie with Michael Douglas and Glenn Close.
It's told in a retrospect kind of way (seems to be the only way they write shoes nowadays) but it's not hard to follow. They released 3 episodes which I think was smart and allows you to get involved with the plot if you liked the pilot.
Good cast and I really enjoyed the first episodes. If you like a thriller and haven't seen the 1987 movie do see this. If you seen the movie but like me you are a sucker for a fresh look on an oldie, give it a shot.
Edited for typos.

And yes she's no Glenn Close and he's no Michael Douglas but that's a good thing imho. I think both actors cast for lead roles are doing a great job.
