i can't believe i just finish the best show ever???? i'm crying?? what do i do :(( i love them so much
farewell, pawnee. it was quite a ride.
Ohhhh I hated this episode so much! Not because it reveals anything we didn't already know about the Ferengi, but because it further tarnishes Quark's already shady character.
Yes, we know that he is written to be a misogynist, blinded by this Ferengi cultural stain, but we really didn't need a reminder. It casts a shadow on every positive thing he's ever said or done. Here we are reminded that he learned nothing from Pel and he learned nothing from his mother, yet, he is in awe of powerful (non Ferengi) women like Grilka, Dax and Kira.
All this episode does is remind us that Quark is a cowardly little man who holds firm to his cultural customs to hold firm to his latinum. He'll lose the lace to keep the profit every time.
What the hell does "This place is deader than a Texas salad bar" even mean? :joy: Please try to make sense, Mr. Shaft.
Almost a season ago (https://trakt.tv/comments/388513) I was pretty annoyed that Vala had stuck around. At the time, her character felt shallow—and static. Since then, I'm quite pleasantly surprised that the writers turned her around into someone capable of growing and changing, someone with a conscience and a sense of the greater good. So what if her jokes still aren't funny?
Meanwhile, I still haven't figured out exactly why the creative team puts her in twintails most of the time. Best I can think of is that it's to emphasize Vala's playful, often childish attitude—which works, but doesn't mesh quite as well as the flippancy they were probably trying to replace since O'Neill/RDA left the cast.
How did Ford, who was leaning over the DHD, get shifted by momentum when the entire cockpit was submerged before the drive pod touched the gate? He would have been dematerialised energy.
Also, love the discrete units/only in one piece rule that suddenly applies to gate travel when SG-1 has shown dozens of cases of something being cut off by the gate. Usually staff weapons.
Kickass episode, one of my favourite thus far. If only the purists would just allow themselves to be entertained...
Maybe it’s because I kept nodding off half way through this episode but don’t understand everything that happened at the end.
Now it's going to become interesting with the mentioning of Talos IV. Because if I put events in the right order from memory, and with a little internet research, than Pike and Spock had already been there. Or should have been there. As it is still not clear how, or if, this timeline is connected. Which would also mean that the order to avoid Talos should be effective and in turn makes me wonder why it is listed in the computer at all. Maybe someone else has something to add ?
This is again dangerous territory in terms of continuity. And I wouldn't bring this up, again, if Kurtzman wouldn't insist on all of this tying into canon.
I will also admit I was wrong about when they bring in Spock.
It's great to the these early stages of the rebellion and how they are coming together pretty much stealing their equipment from the Empire. Very cool to see Thrawn. I'd much rather have him then a new Inquisitor.
But I really can't come to terms with Ezra. While he showed some progress at times in the second season he's reverting back to being the arrogant know-it-all each time. And his excuses afterwards are getting old. Plus his path is too similar to Anakins. But while he at least had redeemed himself in my eyes through the Clone Wars series I don't see myself comig to like Ezra. I simply don't care if he dies or reverts to the Dark Side.
And speaking of the Dark Side: is that Ventress Holocron ? The voice is hears, is it not ?
Very interesting storyline and something that was a bit neglected. Palpatine pretty much wiped out the Jedi but that never meant the Force stopped "producing" sensitive children.
It's funny really that there seem to be many Inquisitors aspiring to be Sith. By their own rule there can always be two, right ? And I wonder, if there is a Fifth Brother and a Seventh Sister is that an indication for their numbers and/or some kind of rating ? If One would be the best it would explain some things.
I think Ahsoka knows who Vader is. At least she suspects. If he can sense her she should sense him.
Some teenagers are entertaining when they are being bratty and awkward.
One of the best episodes of the series. The Peralta storyline was insanity, and the cleverness kept topping itself as the episode continued. Lots of great subtle character moments in this one too. Perfectly exemplifies why I adore this show.
[8/10] Great comic chemistry between Tony Hale as the oddball spork and Jon Ratzenberger as his straight man here. There’s some good information mixed with hyperactive ridiculousness, and it makes for a winning little short.
This was an enjoyable first season. It was more of a prelude to the true beginning that took the entire season to reach, but the journey and the past events leading up to it was still very good. In fact, now that I've watched it entirely, I miss the monster quest-ish aspect with Geralt already, and everything else before the story started becoming more established and like a story. But at the same time, the bigger picture already feels much more intriguing than everything else that was in-between it all when you look back on it from a position of having completed watching it. While I'll miss those moments prior to the story becoming more coherent, and will probably have a feeling of nostalgia thinking back on them, I'm looking forward to the truer-like story of it all in the second season.
Fairly engaging despite being a flawed production. Were the battles in The War of the Roses really decided between armies of only a hundred or so men, and a handful of horses? This was my one disconnect. The fighting was all stilted. However the acting was quite good. And despite it not being 100% faithful to the historic telling, it did a pretty good job. Don't be deterred, it was well done.
I like to watch period shows and I don't look for airtight historical accuracy in them. I leave that to NG or Discovery. As long as the producers don't claim accuracy I'm fine. What I like to see are historical sets, costumes and good drama. In short: entertainment. And that I got. Didn't like all the witchcraft stuff and you really don't see a lot of the bloody stuff. Battles looked rather small.
I'll say this though: if only half of the events are true (forgive me for not knowing English history to the T) with all those betrayals, switching sides, backstabbing, marriage and re-marriage you wonder how they were ever able to built such an empire. No one really does something for the good of the country. They all have ulterior motives and personal agendas. Doesn't seem to have been many honest men or women around. But that's what makes good drama I'd say.
Not exactly the most historically accurate mini-series out there, but it is based on historical fiction. Regardless, it is very watchable and entertaining. Even if some plot points aren't accurate, I still learned quite a bit about this time period. Only criticism: the main characters weren't aged enough from the beginning to the end. This spans almost 20 years and in the last episode, most characters still around from episode 1 still looked the same. This is just a minor aspect, however, that did not take away my enjoyment of the show.
Pretty cool to see badass Jedi Luke and Leia back in action, and while the giant Ewok-imperiling monster is a little corny, it at least explains why the Ewoks had all those traps at the ready in RotJ. Plus, the animation was actually decent on this one, with some creative angles this micro-series hasn’t done before. A fun little short.
EDIT: 6/19/2022 I rewatched this one after viewing the Ewoks T.V. series and films, and...it doesn’t add much. It’s kind of fun to see Kneesa brought into canon, and seeing the Gorax from Caravan of Courage fight Luke Skywalker is fun. But overall, these are just minor easter eggs for longtime fans.
Biggest surprise of 2016. What a finale. Can't wait to see how the story continues!
TIL sinuses are part of the digestive system. (Spoiler: They're not.)
"Somebody put that out!"
"What happened to automatic fire suppression?"
"That's the panel that caught fire."
Well at least the Orville has automatic fire suppression, even if it doesn't have teleporters.
Nitpick: Gordon would have been visible around that corner from where the guard was standing.
Another nitpick: Gordon's holographic disguise disappeared the tuning implement from his hand when he got it reactivated, for some reason. (Not exactly a complicated transition effect, but clearly Scott Grimes forgot to pick up the tuner prop for the second shot.)
After just introducing the possibility of a Borg encounter in the previous episode I would have preferred a couple of episodes before they pick that up. Even if it wasn't exactly THE Borg they encounter here.
I think the idea of an individual Collective (an oxymoron) interesting. But since we leave them behind there isn't that much to it. And why do those stories always have to have a romantic angle ?
And in typical Janeway style her morals are always where the story needs them to be. If something suits her needs she can bend rules and regulations, step over ethics and morals. If not....well than it´s "who am I to interfere, what do I care and think about what might happen if I do"
I guess that´s why I never liked her much.
YOU BETRAYED YOUR UNIFORM! Lol
Kes trying to have emotion is one of the worst things about Voyager.
3,9/10
Fail. Kes Is like a pre Geoffry Baratheon. But Not so well written and also Not so good played. There was no Second i belived that she Is gone bad.
Love how it simultaneously uses in earnest and parodies Star Trek tropes. And the flip to exploring toxic masculinity/"Nice Guy"/fanboy culture is clever. One of the funniest Black Mirror too, and Cristin Milioti is always awesome. Maybe the first episode of the show that I wish will get sequels, as I could watch the further adventures of Milioti-clone and her crew.
Are we struggling for material... Silly premise for an episode and silly outcome
This season really feels like Doctor Who, and I mean that in the worst way. I love having the boys from th' Dwarf back, but I really don't care for DW.
Why are a lot of people saying that this episode was bad? My opinion it is not a good one but on the otherside not that bad!
WHY WILL HAVE TO SUFFER THAT MUCH? what
