Weakest season so far. Of course the finale is exciting, but the storytelling is so, so manipulative it takes away my enjoyment. And as for the season as a whole, there were so many loose threads, plot points that just vanished – I think the show may have jumped the shark.
Abigail was actually real? Huh. Unexpected. Was she the Dudley's daughter? Poor girl.
An okay start to the final season, but a bit disappointing. In particular, I have to question why they spent over 12 minutes on digging up William's grave there at the end. It's obvious what the goal was, but did we have to see all of that? Dig, dig, dig. Shovel, shovel, shovel. Not the sort of thing that puts the "thrill" in "thriller."
Another brilliant episode. Doing something right for season 5.
That was in parts extremly dark and gruesome. But it is countered by a very positive final scene.
So, that were basically the first Stormtroopers ? It will be interesting to see that transition.
If you didn't shed tears throughout the entire episode... this didn't serve you well. It's just wonderful.
More, more, more. I could watch hours of this stuff. It really shows how much respect all those people have for the source material. They see this not just as something that is there to make them money. And that makes all the difference in the world.
Seeing George on set with Grogu put a HUGE smile on my face.
Another great episode but this time I also need to comment on that I just knew that Nurse Chapel would become a favourite of mine and this episode really showed that. Jess Bush is just a perfect casting for Chapel. Actually every character is great and so is the casting.
That fight sequence between Katara and the Waterbending master was EXCELLENT.
This episode focuses on a mute character essentially yet it managed to convey so much in that space. This coupled with the short stories episode before it really showcases what AtLA is capable of.
I only started watching this show as a means to an end so I could move onto Korra afterwards. I didn't expect to enjoy it much but here we are late season 2 and I think I teared up 3 or 4 times during the last few episodes. This show has genuinely surprised me.
A neat mixture of comedy, poignancy and solid action. I didn't think the relationship between a young monk and his flying bison would have such a strong effect on me.
Stunning episode. Beautifully acted and written in a wonderfully understated way. Alone on the moon, does Ed now feel the Soviets were more honest with him than his own colleagues?
"Bad Batch 2. The Search for more Money."
I'm generally curious about what happened to that planet, and why that Mecha Machine was there.
Wow what a brilliant episode. I absolutely adore this show. The story is just so compelling with the scenes on the moon, which are amazing to look at btw, and the looming conflict with the Russians. Also the storyline on earth is just so well done. Also I love the soundtrack of this show. They use some amazing songs in just the right scenes.
I know it's only animation but seeing Rex and Ahsoka reunite produced a big lump in my throat.
Rod Serling would have dug this episode, true to the spirit of the commentary he pioneered and drove his original series.
The pace gets a bit slower in the first half, like with Mesmer's reunion and Billy's conversation. But it quickly catches up in the second half. The tense was well built and it is interesting to see how much grudge and narrow-sighted Billy could be and what have made him that way. As a professional group, they seem to make some stupid amateurish mistake (letting them be seen in cameras) but since this was not the first them they did that I am getting the impression that they are not much a professional assassin, just hired killers. Regardless, this episode is a nice driving plot to see what is going to come up forward--with clues and hints spread out well through out--but as it stands by itself, it is not the greatest.
Loved the last scene where Scotty and Worf growled at each other :)
FINALLY A WOOKIE JEDI….and he’s dead :rolling_eyes::rolling_eyes:
Hilarious and amazingly crude humour. Seems like Deadpool meets period drama
I dream of the day we could have such a high level leader be out as queer.
More importantly though dayum that ending! I did not see that coming!
Bryce Howard you absolute queen! This was amazing. Seeing Mando again, new locations, him slowly falling in love with his new ship. This hit those Star Wars neurons in my brain that the regular BOBF just can't seem to reach. Seeing the BD1 droid got me excited. For a moment I thought Cal Kestes might show up. The way the theme music was fractured after he got stripped of his Mandalorian title kinda made me sad. I can't wait to see where this goes.
The first episode was a celebration of the inspirational roots of Star Wars, but this one feels like a love letter to how fun Star Wars can be. Seeing tropes like the Wilhelm Scream and "I've got a bad feeling about this" brings a smile to my face just as much as (I'm sure) it did to the faces of those who worked on this episode. You can feel the passion for Star Wars in every scene. Plus, the music rocks!
It's an interesting question that's been asked here. Could Ahsoka have prevented Anakin from turning to the dark side if she hadn't left the Jedi? Of course that was never a question until now because she was never part of the movies. In any case I think this is to be interpreted as her taking blame for what happened to him. She thinks she failed him, asks herself, or even is convinced, she could have stopped him. That of course means that she is now admitting that Anakin has indeed become Darth Vader.
It was great to see Vader at the end. Personally I always thought he's not used enough., I could watch a whole series with him.
Finally this show gets good! That light saber battle was awesome. I like how he used both the light saber and the taser gun. That ending as well give such high hopes for next season. good to see that Ashoka is back, i'm really curious to find out what her feeling are towards Anakin turning to the dark side
This episode was great. It gave good character dynamics for each of the main characters. I got a very Buffy vibe from it as well. It seems to play on normal cartoon stereotypes while still being entertaining in a story we've seen before. It's a very good beginning to a two=pat episode that pushes the series into pretty awesome territory. With every episode, I love this show even more. And even though there are any out and out LGBTQIA characters I get a lot of vibes swinging that way from this episode.
This was the best episode so far, the one-liners were hilarious.
An amazing finale to one of the best series of all time IMO. Up there with Breaking Bad for me.
The 10 minute garage scene was the best sequence of television since the episode Ozymandias in Breaking Bad. Just incredible acting all around.
One thing I have always loved about the show is the music selection - again here it was perfect with Brothers in Arms and With or Without You fitting each scene perfectly.
I'm so sad the show is over!
Or, hear me out, “they” is just a word, a way of referring to a person without even thinking of or referencing their gender, much in the way of “that person/being” or heck, even “it”.
It doesn’t have to be woke, it can be just a neutral word choice. Relax folks.
Even if it is or was a non-binary reference, it is ONE WORD and was not flashy or overtly in your face at all. It didn’t bother me either way. The negative or hateful comments do, however.
"It's funny, the day you lose someone isn't the worst. At least you've got something to do. It's all the days they stay dead."
Azbantium plot hole aside, this is very well acted. A lot of the Capaldi-era episodes have been lackluster on the writing front, the acting front, or both—but this one is a masterful performance. If I have only one major question about "How?!", that's a massive improvement.
I, for one, really appreciated the "Oh, snap!" moment when I realized that my suspicions had been right: the whole "cycle" premise had been foreshadowed at the very beginning.
(The "plot hole" is the azbantium room not resetting, when all the other rooms in the entire castle reset to their original state after some time. Why should that one not reset? Obviously because the Doctor would never be able to escape if it did.)
