Impulsively decided to start reading the Solo Leveling light novel before I started watching this…
After reading the first six volumes, I am extremely excited for this. The light novel has already become one of my favorite series.
I hope this does the series justice and they are able to adapt it properly.

@forcefield Unfortunately if they follow the usual pattern for anime adapted from light novels, you won't see the entire light novel series adapted, only as far as half of it. I believe only one light novel series has went past the halfway point in terms of amine adaptions, Sword Art Online.

@thechocolatefinger It's like the series creators are trying to become a more adult version of Disney. The previous series by this team also had musical numbers in just about every episode.

Not putting Jango and his moonwalk in this episode is a frickin' travesty.
Also, the acting in Zoro's past was uhh.. something. My God, Kuina's actress coming in hot with a perfomance straight out of The Room. The child actor for Luffy is Al Pacino for all of them.

@milanjfs It was dumb not to use Jango after showing his face on a wanted poster in the first episode. Also in the anime/manga he was the only person from that gang to appear in future episodes/chapters.

It actually wasn't too bad. We see more of Q, which is a good thing given deLancies great performance. Concerning Q: Why would he rip himself of his own power in a scenario he himself created ? Doesn't make sense and suggest that someone else is involved ?
So, Laris isn't Laris but a supervisor like Gary Seven. That's an interesting angle that I hope get's further developed than just this short mentioning. I'm also getting some Edith Keeler vibes with Renee Picard in the sense that she was essential for the timeline. Interestingly Keeler's survival would have let probably to the same future as Renee not making the flight. Coincidence ?
The ICE storyline is hopefully done with and it was obviously just there to make a point. Let's leave it at that.
I don't like the Jurati plot because I don't like Jurati. And I'm dissapointed in how they used the Borg Queen so far. But that's just me personally.
Bringing in Brent Spiner as another Soong ancestor is a nice angle that, in a way, gives more depth. Althought I fear he's just a tool here. And Isa Briones finally got to make her appearance in this timeline, too.
One thing that pains me to say a bit is that it feels that Patrick Stewart seems exhausted in almost every scene he's in. It could be intentional in how he plays Picard as a fragile old man. I hope it is because otherwise it would mean it's too much for him. Which could be normal given his age but makes me wonder about his involvement in season 3.

@finfan You're right, I had forgotten that when the body was made last season, it was mentioned that it would function like an actual human body, no super android strength and other enhancements, that it would even age to Picard's expected life span. Picard had made a comment about this asking if he couldn't have been given 10 more years.

Another deadly herbal attack. Sure. Why not? Countless other Sci-Fi shows have re-used this idea. It's oddly paced. The first 15 minutes or so are used to establish the general premise: the planet is dangerous and they're trapped. This could have been told in 5 minutes. This godzilla thing is officially the worst paper mache object in this show.
I don't like this episode. It's basically like Captain Cook discovered a Polynesian island and polluted the traditional society by a behavior that Europeans think is normal. Only that a Christian morale is replaced by, well, the means of sex education? Really? Funny, how they can't talk about sex in the 60s. As soon as this civilization is stirred up, they learn how to murder people. A concept totally unknown to them before. And so the fighting begins. Plus, they destroy the benevolent caretaker Godzilla. They basically destroy all foundations of this peaceful society. That's worse than European exploration. Kirk seems even to be proud of his action since he firmly believes he freed those people.
The show makes me a sexist too: I can't help to notice that Yeoman Landon is gorgeous.

@wpafbo79 This story arc covered the last third of the manga series so hell yeah it was rushed if it ended this quickly. The original manga was nearly 600 chapters long, this story arc covered the last 200 chapters.
Good, Great or Superb...? I'd say it's, "good," compared to the series...but, the acting, the acting was so good, the actors just seemed to disappear into their roles, so...eh, an eight!

They don't make shows like this anymore! Filled with action, humor, and heroism, this was a wonderful blast from the past.

Whoever said they couldn't make Blazing Saddles these days never thought of making it about a kids movie about dogs and cats and themed as a samurai movie.
If you like the original, this is amazing. If you don't, well then, you have poor taste.

Nooo, no, no, this is just my least favourite kind of episode. Confusing and poorly executed, nothing really made sense here and basic storytelling was abandoned in places. Lazarus' beard was the star.

The optimistic side of me sees Kevin Feige finally pushing the boundaries of his own franchise.
I guess it’s a little bit of both in the end.Undoubtedly, the best thing the movie has going for it is the Sam Raiminess of it all. His fingerprints are all over it; you’re getting the weird camera angles, camp, his sense of horror, etc. It definitely has more style than some other Marvel movies, though there's also still some of the usual blandness. I'll give it to Marvel for putting in a scene where a talking corpse gives a heartfelt, sentimental speech. There's more of a psychedelic feel to it than the first film, but every time it tends to get really interesting it feels like Raimi's being reigned it to adhere to Marvel's demands. Elizabeth Olsen and Benedict Cumberbatch are giving some of their best performances as these characters to date, and the music’s really well done. But ultimately the film’s Achilles heel is its own script, which is complete junk. The story is thin, messy, nonsensical, and at times flat out embarrassing. The set-up in the first act is very rushed, while the second and third act feel like they’re written by a Reddit fanpage (you just know for a fact that Marvel only went in this direction because of the 2 Batmen that have been announced for The Flash). It’s Marvel at its most ‘producty’, and it’s going to trick a lot of people into thinking the film is better than it is. Regardless, I hope Patrick Stewart got a big paycheck for ruining his own perfect send-off in Logan at the very least. A lot of the story beats don’t make sense either, with most of the characters arcs feeling rushed and nonsensical, even despite the copious amounts of exposition that are desperately trying to tie everything together. The choices made with Wanda in the third act are baffling, and I still don’t know what the takeaway is supposed to be by the end of the film. Her motivation is problematic in general, and I don’t like the use of the [insert plot device] corrupts the mind of the villain trope, which is becoming very overused in the MCU (Ant-Man, Winter Soldier) and just a lazy way of forcing a conflict where the villain stays redeemable. The new character (America Chavez) is a boring, underdeveloped plot device, while Strange himself doesn't even have a real arc. It's the kind of film where a lot happens, but very little leaves an actual impression. I’m not sure what happened, but I get the impression that a significant portion of this film was reworked and rewritten during post production. The action didn’t impress me whatsoever, but that’s been a case with these films for a while now (some of the stuff in Shang-Chi excluded). Some of the visuals look tacky and unfinished, the action’s a bunch of people shooting flashing lights at each other, shots don’t linger enough, people move like animated characters, it’s all the usual bs (and this is coming from someone who thinks the action and effects in the first one are still underappreciated to this day). Inbetween the first film and the sequel, Marvel has become a machine that’s now collapsing under its own pressure. If Disney would allow it, they really should go back to making 2-3 properties a year. The consistent mediocrity of their current output is killing their own longevity.

Oh, and your kids will be fine watching this. I’ve seen some uproar about the ‘horror’ and violence of the film, and it’s honestly not that shocking. There’s way more creepy stuff in some of the Harry Potter and Indiana Jones films (or just your average 80’s kids film in general).

That opening scene re-establishes Layla as a fine new addition to the MCU as well as being a pretty effective method to immediately capture the viewer's attention (forging a passport while casually chatting, yay!).
The mystery around our protagonist deepens, with what looks like another unknown personality causing trouble for Marc/Steven. Despite this, the script still switches between the different identities in an engaging but clear way
CHARACTERS & ACTING: 5
In a Marc Spector-focused episode, we get to see the former mercenary fare very well on his own without the Moon Knight suit, showing just the kind of confident, broken persona he is.
I love how the writers finally allow Marc and Steven to work together, leaning on each others' individual strengths to solve problems that come their way - it allows for some unique problem-solving.
Khonshu's role in the series keeps growing, and F. Murray Abraham truly gives him a memorable personality
ATMOSPHERE: 4
Episode 3 ramps up the action and adventure considerably across an Egyptian backdrop - it's less the MCU and more James Bond, Jason Bourne or Indiana Joens - but this is just the right time to do that.
The Moon Knight fight scene towards the end is a cool one, particularly how it switches into Mr Knight and back again mid-sequence.

There are some nice visuals in that final sequence, which feels like an epic bridge between the first and second halves of the show.

There's still a sense of urgency in the plot, almost as if the writers were keen on cramming in as much as possible before their six episodes are up. That means that it's sometimes difficult to keep up, while you sit there wishing they'd focus on one or two main points instead of several smaller things.
While I technically like the idea of the council of gods (or whatever it's supposed to be), it feels so weird and left-field even for the MCU that I'm not sure what to think of it.
CHARACTERS & ACTING: -1
I'm still not sold on the characterization of Mr Knight. I don't mind characters from the comics changed for MCU projects, but I don't want to see another Deadpool copy.

Just watched it. I can't say the movie was spectacular, but it was darn spectacular to me.
I believe the movie paid all due respects to the Ghostbusters and that it was carefully made not to disappoint. It worked!

The first scene takes place in 1993 and has Natasha as a little girl living in the mid west, Ohio. Her character has multi color hair which would be unusual for a girl of that age today, let alone one in the mid west during that time period, especially one who was supposed to be undercover and thus should not be drawing attention to herself.

@ruegnueg Maybe in the city, but not in a midwestern rural are, specially a pre-teen. Also part of being undercover is to not stand out, a pre teen with multi color hair would certainly stand out.
Supposedly one of the greatest musicals on film. I have to agree that some songs, like America and I Feel Pretty, were really great and popped off the screen (with great lyrics, music and choreography), but the surrounding depiction of the story was terrible. It's starts with teenage gangs (played by 30 year olds) doing ballet-pirouettes to show how tough they are.. The Romeo and Juliet part between rival gangmembers is unbelievable as the two characters have barely met and just don't seem to care about each other. The clash between racially different gangs is an interesting plot, but is ruined by the ballet choreography and the lack of personalities within each gang. So some interesting elements in this movie, but they completely didn't match with the feeling they wanted to express.
Perhaps I just don't like musicals put to film, but I'd recommend seeing this on a stage, where they can probably capture the atmosphere way better than on a screen.

@christopher_brink Might be because the originals were, like "Robotech", started off as different series, Lion Voltron was taken almost entirely from this series, "Golion" https://trakt.tv/shows/beast-king-golion while the one you like was "Armored Fleet Dairugger XV" https://trakt.tv/shows/armored-fleet-dairugger-xv . The Golion episodes were edited to make it seem that the pilots were working for Earth forces when in the original there was no Earth force and the planet was a wasteland at that time.

I had fun with this series without a doubt. I really appreciated that it stuck with its strengths which were the on-point comedy and the cast of colorful characters. They didn't try to make the battles and shounen parts ridiculously over-the-top or dominating here. Rather the studio kept the dialog, engaging situations and out-of-control characters a riot instead. Due to the comedy, it was a really easy watch and I've actually gone back and rewatched some of my favorite episodes and moments in the series along the way just to get some more laughs.
While I'd love a sequel, this definitely seems like one of those one-and-done anime shows. I feel like they left the ending at a good place with the door slightly open. I'm honestly not sure how much more material is available at the moment since I haven't touched the light/web novel, so maybe others can fill me in on the chances of more content.

@deanzel I looked it up thinking that there were only 6 light novel volumes but there's 12 volumes so it's possible to have a second season. Few light novels that get anime adaptions end up using the entire light novel series, this could become the exception. Also the first 6 volumes have been released in English and 5 are available on Amazon.

@tee453 Same here, it was among the first anime I saw as a kid in the 1960's. And the simple names of the characters like Prof Bob Brilliant, the detective "Dick Strong". I know that in those days Dick was slang for detective, but you couldn't get away with a name like that today.
