How sad to have such a limited view of what this show can be

@whos_ur_buddha This is one hell of a side story! My hour wasn't wasted, if this would have been a standalone film I'd watch it it's that good. Why does it always need the main characters to build the world they are picturing? This is storytelling at it's best.
Finally the end of this horrible show

@justin_zw you think its horrible but still here and rated an unaired episode 2. What a sad life you have.
So, no real japanese actors on this? That's kinda lame, especially from Netflix.

@bkoto the creator himself said multiple times over the years that if the characters would be in the real world, their nationalities would all be very different. Luffy (Brazil), Zoro (Japan), Nami (Sweden), Usopp (Africa), Sanji (France).
So before you start spreading your negativity maybe check some facts beforehand. Thank you.

@martlet the show, not inly in the text but also in interviews with the show-runners, is about love and the things we do for love (good and terrible) and to protect the ones we love.
Bill is a paralel to joel and frank to ellie. Opening up the others hearts and letting love in. On closed off by his own closeted homophobia and paranoia and the other from trauma and loss of his child. Both pragmatic and overly serious not letting others in (joel didn’t even let tess in for all the years they where together)
The episode shows also how post apocalypse we don’t have to sacrifice our humanity. To do more that just surviving but to actually live and care for the things around us. And for art, and beauty.
The letter at the end really activate joel in the quest to protect ellie. He has failed to protect his daughter and as reminded, tess. It tells him that life with purpose is possible and it’s mostly someone else. And that they, both, would do anything to protect the ones they care about… and i pity the fool who stand on their way (foreshadowing what joel is going to do in the end)
There are many more reasons why this episode matters in the context of the show but a not unimportant one is that it was beautiful and a good story and telling it was something they wanted to do and was worth it… maybe not to you but for many others, apparently.
Note to hollyweird - THIS is how you do a show with NO virtue signaling, NO SJW-Preaching, & NO agenda prompting. Just a great show with a great cast and awesome storytelling for entertainment value, period! If only all of hollyweird could/would GET this simple concept.
Tyler Sheridan just keeps bringing in the hits. His Urban-Western storytelling is on fire right now.

@archangell Or this can be your thing. And those shows can be their thing. And everybody gets to watch what they want.
Nobody has to dictate what gets made. Just watch what you enjoy. Politics is not needed here.
I don't understand why they have to put a black person as a leader or a wife for somebody everytime.

@gaim4a i think your politics has deluded you a bit. Characters have flaws, you seem to hyperfocus on the gender for some reason. The main villain of the season is a female nazi, calling Hughie Weak sorry ass, is misunderstanding the character. Hughie is the normal guy, you would look a sorry ass yourself in that situation. As for being a control Freak, i don't see how that puts men down. I'm sure they'll explain further why he is that way so it has nothing to do with that. Starlight in season 1 could be characterised as a dumbass for not figuring out ANYTHING that was happening around her. And for now, there's no other option but to make her a person under stress because the story naturally progressed to a point where that's the only role she could get into. Kimiko doesn't speak, so they gave her an arc which could work with that. As for women being beautiful idk, maybe that's just because of your sexuality, I'm guessing you haven't really called a man beautiful. As for strong, all characters except Hughie are extremely competent, no matter their gender. As for pervert man, that's just accuracy lmao. Many men are perverts, especially in ratio to women. Also didn't this episode have that girl who was into pleasuring men? Wouldn't she also be characterised as a pervert. You're just being too paranoid and snowflakish.

There's no Japan in One Piece so why would they need Japanese actors. It's understandable that many people have strong opinions when it comes to these adaptations but this comment isn't constructive to the quality of the production.
What in the actual f*ck.
I'm a reasonable man, I realize I've been crapping on D&D even more than usual this season but I really do have to give them props for doing exactly what they set out to do. They hoped to subvert our expectations and they did just wonderfully in that regards.
We expected all of that buildup over the years to actually amount to something that at the very least passes for a presentable series finale but instead, we got an incoherent, steaming pile of shit. Expectations subverted!
We expected all of that character development to actually result in a beautiful pay-off that respects the journey of self-discovery each and every one of our beloved characters went through to get to where they are now but instead, we got a painful, disrespectful cycle of character regression. Expectations subverted!
We expected the final season of this show to keep us at the edge of our seats with thrilling writing that didn't subvert our expectations for the sake of subverting our expectations via low-quality shock value-seeking writing, but to introduce plot twists that make sense within the overall narrative of the story but instead, we got CW-level predictable, cringe material. Expectations subverted!
I get it. I really do. GRRM let them down by not getting the books ready in time and so they had to improvise away from his influence, but this? This? For a long while, Game of Thrones lived up to the slogan of its parent network, it wasn't just TV, it was something different, something unique and now to have to see it come to this... it's nothing short of disappointing.
On the bright side though, at least this episode didn't suck completely. The acting, score and cinematography were all on point, so I guess it's nice that I didn't walk out of it having appreciated absolutely nothing about it.
So why do I even bother anymore? I honestly could not tell you, though it's probably a mixture of masochism and a faint sliver of hope that they won't flush our collective investment into this series down the drain by the end of it, just one more episode dammit.

@jinzulen Just because a show doesn't go in the direction you wanted doesn't mean it's wrong or bad. Daenerys always had a bit of crazy in her. It should not have been that shocking for her to burn down the city to provoke fear. She literally told Jon she had to rely on fear in the first 15 minutes.

Tell me you know nothing about One Piece without telling me you know nothing about One Piece
It's clear that the writers value shocks and twists over characters with consistent motivations.
Edit: I'll remember Stannis as he was.
loading replies
Stanises motivations remained consistent in my opinion. The Iron throne was always his goal, and still is. And burning people alive is nothing new in his camp. I think he (and Melisanre of course) sees the burnings as the necessary evil needed to reach his goal. It's desperate times like these (when he can't turn back, and probably won't succeed if he goes forward) when he needs all the help he can get in order to reach the goal. Thus the desperate measures.
I could have skipped this episode and missed nothing.

Ignoring the ignorance for a moment, imagine if this episode had just been Joel and Ellie arriving at an abandoned town that just happened to have a truck with a working battery, supplies, and guns (things they need to move forward). That would have been unearned and confusing. Even if Joel had said “these guys have lots of stuff oh good they’re dead so they don’t need it anymore” that would have simply been boring. Show, don’t tell, is a fundamental rule in TV and movies.

@antiwoke Stop playing victim. No one cares about your delusional anti-woke bullshit. And yeah, sometimes life is unfair. Sort of like how you unfairly hate on people for their sexual orientation. The people you are homophobic towards don't choose their sexuality. But you being an asshole towards them, well that is a choice. A choice you deserve to be called out for. So boo hoo, poor you, no one cares, now shut the fuck up.

Season 3 has started off with a disappointment just in the first few minutes the show becomes a mess of bad pacing, cringy dialogue and awful pandering. The only relevant stuff in the plot was towards the ending. 4/10

Review by Alex Stevanovic
I've watched this series from day one and loved it until season 4. When season 5 started, with their major plot changes, I wanted to quit this show but this episode made me loathe this show to the point where I would literally beat up Martin for giving HBO the rights to change the story line this much. I'm personally disappointed with HBO for killing of such a lovable and adorable character in a way that it wasn't possible. Stannis would NEVER agree to such a thing (and if you remembered in the last episode, he turned down Melissandre without thinking twice). Why did the TV show drop in quality? I was ready to bear the fact that Lady Stoneheart wont be in the show (even tho she has a MAJOR influence in the books) but not this major flaw. Stannis is a weak man, unable to endure the seduction of a witch and the only thing that was able to cancel her manipulation was Shireen. For god's sake Selyse had second thoughts, the woman who hated her daughter more than anyone in the world but Stannis didn't, the man who showed so much love and pride in her daughter.
I'm rating this episode 1 because this is the last episode I will ever watch of Game of Thrones. I was able to survive "The Red Wedding" and Oberyn Martell because I knew this was coming but this... THIS... I'm disgusted.
EDIT: If the actress didn't wanna act in the series any more they (HBO) could have at least killed her via Ramsey Snow's 20 men sneak attack or something. This was utterly revolting. :/

Dude, quit being so much fucking butthurt. The show ISN'T the book. The plot changes, you can't predict it anymore. Welcome to the world of the show watchers, that's how every major death has felt to us, literally "omg why would he do that" every time.
Has the thought of the two things being separate ever crossed your mind? Perhaps the show Stannis isn't your book Stannis.
It was cruel, but it was needed. It showed that there are 2 Stannis in the books, badass Stannis that trusts Davos, and retard Stannis that trusts Melisandre. The second one is taking over more than ever.
All sorts of people die in this show, get over it

VIP7Everyone is so mad and I don't get it. You want the show to be sunshine and rainbows? You want the characters to start considering "oh but I don't want to hurt any of the viewers feelings". If you didn't see that coming, can't foresee just how drastic the Sansa/Theon story line may become, then you are blind. This is not a happy show, and this is not the worst thing I've seen on it.
loading replies
So you're OK with the gratuitous sex and violence? People getting set on fire then torn to shreds by dragons? A brother and sister having an incestuous relationship resulting in 3 children? A pregnant woman getting stabbed in her pregnant belly, and young women washing corpses? But you draw the line at an off screen sex act that can barely be called rape at all. Sansa agreed to marry Ramsay and knew that he would bed her. She never said no or protested. She knew she had to do it. It was horrible, but she consented.
To me boycotting a series because a female character is raped is about as ANTI-feminist as it gets. Game of Thrones is one of the most authentic, dramatic series with some of the strongest and most realistic female characters ever depicted on TV. So let's abandon it, because it has the audacity to illustrate a traumatic event, that will most likely empower Sansa to become a survivor.
