So far my fears about this moving to the cw have been for not. First episode and it’s hasn’t been CW nized let’s hope the rest of season 2 stays on point.

@grumpyv That's because it is still made by Geoff Johns. Because Geoff Johns created Courtney Whitmore in the comics to honour his sister after she died in a major plane crash, he is going to make sure that the tv show is as high quality as possible and he is not going to allow the CW to do their usual bullshit soap opera drama.
Geoff Johns also worked on the Snyder cut and he had enough power to be able to tell Snyder what he could and what he couldn't do with the project. Geoff Johns is arguably the best DC Comics writer of all time so he makes the best stories. This is why, as long as he is in charge, this show is going to always be amazing, even if it is on the CW.

@zdistrict You capitalized every word in your comment, that takes a lot of your creditability away, I stopped readin afer the first line, sorry.
On the surface this film is about a group of people who have been labelled “villains”, working together to save the world. But really, this film is about one man and one man alone, he isn’t strong, but yet he defies all odds and sacrifices his life to save his friends. His only power is his bravery, he is the driver of the van and the main character of this film, Milton.

@kieranlittleuk I don't remember a character named Milton. I think I'd remember. It's not really a common name.
Ain't no fucking way this is coming back in just 6 months, lmao.

it's really sad seeing Elliot in pain crossing the line but he's got no choices anymore. this show gets better episode by episode.

Where was this group of "diverse" heroes when Thanos attacked in Infinity War and Endgame? One of the many plot holes that this film has, added to the boring general plot. Without a doubt a waste of time, and this confirms that Marvel is no longer in its best days.

@Auron1983 they literally explain it in the movie. sounds like you werent paying attention

@auron1983 have you listen to the movie ? Or not lol it's one dilemma at the center of the movie, it's not a plot hole. They have been put on earth only to kill the Deviants but I won't explain the movie to you, re-watch it, if you didn't get it.

No joke, this single episode is the best Star Wars I've seen since the throne room sequence in Return of the Jedi. I can't think of anything else that comes close except maybe the ending of Rogue One.
loading replies
@xaliber Compared to the prequels and the new movies. Yes, this is StarWars.
[8.5/10] Expectations can be a difficult thing to manage. When you hear that an actor is going to reprise one of your favourite roles of all time, it's easy to get excited. When you see trailers and it looks good, you get more excited. When you start hearing positive early reviews, your excitement level can go through the roof. If anything, I was worried that my expectations for Picard were just too high, and I was only going to be disappointed.
But almost from the opening moments of this premiere, I was swept up. Picard avoids excessive nostalgia (but provides just a nice amount) and begins by telling a tale full of emotion and character. It's markedly different from Star Trek: Discovery, both in terms of visuals and writing. The pace is measured and characters are given room to breathe, the action is sparse but hard-hitting. Patrick Stewart himself is a frailer man than the one we remember, but there's no mistaking that this is our Jean-Luc Picard back on screen.
It's still early days and there are a lot of directions this story could take. But here I was surprised at just how impactful some of the emotional moments and revelations were. Isa Briones is strong in the role of Dahj, seemingly an unknown "daughter" of Data's,, but it was Picard's reaction to it all that made it have so much more weight. No mention of Data's other daughter, Lal, but that may come up later.
There was some awkward exposition early on with an interview sequence that didn't quite hit the mark due a mix of writing that was a bit too on-the-nose and the actor for the interviewer feeling weirdly out of place. For a mostly calm opening there was a surprising amout of information and story to be digested here and a lot of questions that I can't wait to be answered.

@lefthandedguitarist excellent review of this premiere! You always manage to put your thoughts into words much better than I'm able to. My brain rated this episode an 8, but my heart gave it a 9. I feel that this pilot episode got us both excited for the rest of the season. It sure feels great to have a weekly fix of Picard once more after all these years. Now bring on those cameos! And I want to see Jonathan Frakes directing an episode or two, at least.
How exactly do they plan to conclude all these plot points in one more episode?!?
I've loved this season, but this feels like it needs another 5 episodes at least!loading replies
@isaac_paech Extra-long finale. (Also, be prepared for a Rogue One-like ending)
Strangely, this movie is also listed here and has a higher rating. Maybe the admins could amalgamate the 2 for accuracy.

VIPOG12First of all, its a pretty cool feeling knowing that you helped produce this film on indiegogo (or kickstarter, whichever one it was). I was impressed by how well made it was. It felt like a big budget movie.
Second, the story was great. A few things happened that I didn't expect to.
The only thing that I didn't like was the ending... It needed 5 more minutes to explain what the hell just happened. Connor said he's going to make things right. But nothing happened. He visits his mom's grave. Then what? He's back where he started, minus having a mom?
Did Garrett essentially replace Marcus with that deal?
Did Park not end up having powers? I definitely thought he was going to have powers.
So Nia got to visit her dad in prison. That's not really a happy ending for her, is it?
Maybe I missed something while I was watching...

@rlevitz Didn't know it was an indiegogo film. The production quality is superb, it looked very top-of-the line. I'm impressed!
Did Garrett essentially replace Marcus with that deal?
I don't think that's really relevant to the story being told. He got out of his money-debt issues, and was also free, rather than to work under the other Marcus. He was essentially free, and that's really the big point here.
Did Park not end up having powers? I definitely thought he was going to have powers.
No. They never painted him to be. Quite the contrary, he was more humane because he could see his pairs discriminating, and could empathize with those with power since his daughter was one of them.
So Nia got to visit her dad in prison. That's not really a happy ending for her, is it?
She starts the movie a slave to a monster. The fact that she was free to visit a beloved one by herself reflects her newfound freedom. Considering where she started, that is a happy ending.
I’m surprised at the low ratings for this film, I thought it was excellent.
It’s a simple tale, told well.
Lots of action from start to finish, great acting and production etc.
It’s a 90 minute film, but it seemed to be over very quickly; which shows how involved I was in the story.
It’s different, not predictable and I loved the simplicity of the story.
Great film!

Agreed! I thought it was great! Simple, yes, but I thought it was a great story with strong characters.
So after all that they just let the rebellious clones walk away? I mean, anyone who has seen Rebels knows that Wolffe will eventually change sides, but did nobody else in his squad really had a problem with letting their #1 target walk away (Isn't "Good soldiers follow orders" still a thing due to the inhibitor chip?). How are they even going to explain that to their superiors? The resolution just felt poorly made.
loading replies
@essenslug Ok, that makes more sense. But I still find it hard to believe that no one else in the squad objected to letting them go when they were both outnumbered and outgunned.

Not alltogether bad but watching it almost 10 years after it aired you instantly get the feeling this is one of this (now) overused story arcs of a cat and mouse game between a cop and a genius killer who will always get away in an unexpected twist until the final episode where she makes a stupid mistake.
The whole setup is very generic, the characters are clichèd (cop with marriage issues, child prodigy killing her parents) , and I am already tired of the sexual angle. Plus there is an awful logic issue: why did no one in the crematorium find the gun parts ? If you want to be recognized as an intelligent drama don't make such mistakes.loading replies
Yeah, I feel exactly the same about this show just having started it ... Not only the gun parts, but why couldn’t they have Zoe identify the voice? Isn’t that basic 101 police work?
This was a hilarious episode! Loved seeing another side of Casey's personality! Great character development

Acting is ok, visuals are great, Iroh and Zuko were the best here.
But what I‘m annoyed with is how they completely changed Bumi‘s character. Iroh is slightly different, too.
And the worst is how they changed the story. Zuko and Iroh weren’t supposed to be in Omashu.
The Omashu tunnel should have come later.

VIP5I thought it was pretty neat. It's not Endgame, but it's not trying to be. It's a pretty small, kinda old-school self-contained superhero movie that doesn't do much to heavily worldbuild. It doesn't even have a post-credits scene with Sam L Jackson. But I thought it was pretty neat for what it is.
loading replies
@jds-shkolnikfamily-com …I know. It was just a way to say "this is not like the Avengers or even Iron Man, it didn't create a shared universe". It didn't have a post-scredits scene with anyone at all. It's not like all MCU films have Jackson in their post credits scene, either.
Not everything is to be read literally.
