Scooby's All Star Laff-A-Lympics: 1x09 Spain and the Himalayas

Cindy Bear is always a treat to have in these episodes. The older characters were still playing in reruns, so I'm sure everyone still knew them, but did they know the comedians their voices were modeled after? Like Phil Silvers for Hokey Wolf?

The Scooby-Doo Show: 2x08 The Creepy Heap from the Deep

Interesting mystery for this one, nothing to do with treasure for a change.

Scooby's All Star Laff-A-Lympics: 1x07 Italy and Kitty Hawk, North Carolina

It's continually amazing how much mileage they can get out of putting all their properties together like this. One of the first cinematic universes, albeit on Saturday mornings.

Scooby's All Star Laff-A-Lympics: 1x06 Athens, Greece and the Ozarks

Interesting choice for the Ozarks. They needed to play up the mountain aspect more.

The Scooby-Doo Show: 2x06 The Ozark Witch Switch

Wow, the gang actually gives the bad guys a taste of their own medicine! A few scenes stood out in my memory, but not much.

I really thought the Rottens were going to win this one, by accident.

The Scooby-Doo Show: 2x05 The Spooky Case of the Grand Prix Race

Another one where he phantom design is familiar, along with some of the set pieces, but I didn't remember the mystery or any side characters.

The Scooby-Doo Show: 2x04 The Chiller Diller Movie Thriller

How big is Scooby's family? One assumes Scrappy isn't the child of Scooby-Dum or Scooby-Dee. I wonder if there's a site somewhere that builds cartoon family trees. I do love when they pull stuff from the silent era. Also, I'm pretty sure now that they modeled Dum after Mortimer Snerd.

The Paul Lynde impression for Mildew is really very good. I need to go back and watch both his and Snagglepuss's series soon.

Scooby's All Star Laff-A-Lympics: 1x02 Acapulco and England

Two episodes in, and I'm remembering how much I enjoy these. You don't get too much of any one character, and the guest judge cameo was brilliant.

Scooby's All Star Laff-A-Lympics: 1x01 The Swiss Alps and Tokyo, Japan

Everyone loves a team-up, and having all the Hanna-Barbera properties in a single show works surprisingly well. We get all the personalities, impersonations, catchphrases, and shticks all in one, and the episodes speed by, just like the races in the show itself.

The Scooby-Doo Show: 2x01 The Curse of Viking Lake

I wonder how many of these second season episodes of the Scooby-Doo Show I haven't seen. I'm curious as to the location of Viking Lake, what with names like Swenson and the accents.

Dynomutt, Dog Wonder: 1x16 The Prophet Profits

Big City City Hall is an upside down Titans Tower! Dynomutt does a Johnny Carson impression! Well, a Carnac the Magnificent impression. The Prophet's pupils turned into stars, which looked pretty wild, I gotta say.

The Scooby-Doo Show: 1x16 The Spirits of '76

Possibly the weirdest episode I never saw of Scooby-Doo. The ghosts of Benedict Arnold, Major Andre, and William Demont, clearly people who everyone watching this Saturday morning cartoon would know.

Dynomutt, Dog Wonder: 1x15 The Lighter Than Air Raid

Was this an inspiration for Wall-E? A bit fat-phobic, but I like the impression of Charles Laughton. Another Mumbly cameo!

Dynomutt, Dog Wonder: 1x14 The Injustice League of America

Love this continuity of the previous episodes' villains teaming up, and it working about as well as any super-villain team-up.

The Scooby-Doo Show: 1x13 Scooby-Doo, Where's the Crew?

One of the few that I have no memory of. The design of the ghosts and the accent of the captain would certainly have stood out in my mind.

The Scooby-Doo Show: 1x12 There's a Demon Shark in the Foggy Dark

Some fun animated sequences in the Sea World clone. Reappearance of the name "County Museum." Must be LACMA with all the stuff they get.

The Scooby-Doo Show: 1x11 A Bum Steer for Scooby

I somehow missed this one back in the day, or maybe I'm mixing it up with the earlier episode that also featured pueblos and a medicine man character. It does look like it reused some animation, but with some creative new ideas.

Dynomutt, Dog Wonder: 1x08 Factory Recall

A little more interesting although I think they use the one of the characters goes bad shtick more than once. And I suppose if you're already going to be a Batman parody, you might as well steal his baddies, too.

The Scooby-Doo Show: 1x08 The No-Face Zombie Chase Case

This is an odd one. I didn't remember the plot or mystery, but so many of the visuals, and even full sequences (the multitude of Scoobies, the girls pretending to be dolls) stick out in my memory.

The Scooby-Doo Show: 1x07 The Harum-Scarum Sanitarium

If there was ever an episode of Scooby-Doo that influenced Rob Zombie or Ryan Murphy with American Horror Story, it was this one. All we needed to was to have a more washed-out fluorescent colour scheme and you'd have a modern horror film. Even with it being a cartoon and having Scooby and Shaggy and the gang, I was getting creeped out by Tewkesberry trying to get them to stay in the sanitarium over night.

Dynomutt, Dog Wonder: 1x01 Everyone Hyde!

For a team-up with the Scooby gang, it takes awhile for the kids to show up. I kind of thought there was a combined opening, too, but I guess they just ran back to back with their own title sequences.

The Scooby-Doo Show: 1x01 High Rise Hair Raiser

The first of the new series stands out so much in my memory, particularly the bits with the great-great-great-granddaughter, and how Ebenezer always visits every twenty years. Proper creepy, but with the skyscraper giving it an urban feel. Very Kolchak.

The New Scooby-Doo Movies: 2x07 The Haunted Candy Factory

Yet again, we have a musical guest star, but no musical number, much less a musical chase scene. I definitely had forgotten how many fat jokes they made during the episode, even though I remember the grapefruit jokes. This wasn't too long before Mama Cass died, sad to say. Definitely check her out in Pufnstuff: The Movie.

The New Scooby-Doo Movies: 2x05 The Exterminator

They pretty much just needed a checklist of Maxwell Smart catchphrases for this episode. He had just completed Get Smart, so it would've been starting syndicated reruns around this time, so it makes sense to play that up as much as possible. I like the inclusion of the horror actor and a caricature of Von Stroheim as the butler. It's our own little Sunset Boulevard.

The New Scooby-Doo Movies: 2x02 The Haunted Showboat

I love how much double duty some of the voice cast is doing here, and I always enjoy the pussycat cartoons, so this is right up my alley...cat. I'm a little disappointed we didn't get a full on musical number, at least a variation of the Josie theme, even if not a musical chase scene.

The New Scooby-Doo Movies: 1x14 The Phantom of the Country Music Hall

It was awesome to hear Jerry's rendition of Pretty Mary Sunshine, but it should've been used in a chase scene. I do like Jerry Reed, but he felt a little underused here, not even showing up other than a voice until about halfway through.

The New Scooby-Doo Movies: 1x13 The Haunted Horseman of Hagglethorn Hall

Ah, another one I remember quite well, probably because I also watched the Monkees. I wonder if they attempted to get all the Monkees, or if they ever just went for Davy. A great welcome back to the musical chase scene! I didn't realize that it was a song that was done for Scooby-Doo, Where Are You, covered by Jones. I believe the Jerry Reed one is, too.

The New Scooby-Doo Movies: 1x12 The Ghostly Creep from the Deep

This is more my memory of The Globetrotters than actually watching them play. Well, here and Gilligan's Island. I'm curious as to the casting for the voices. I had to go back to relisten to see if I would recognize Eddie Anderson. I wonder if they slowed down his voice.
