Picking up the thread of the conversation two years after the first season is not easy. The plot of this series is quite intricate, and the messes that all the characters have don't make it easy. This first episode of the second season is excessively and needlessly too existentialist. Let's see how it goes on.

@ironrinn that's why you watch a recap before you start the second season..
Nah, I'm out. The Chinese version, while lower budget, was better. This is more drama/relationships/love nonsense.
I guess Netflix Fans will enjoy it.

You really want to be defending this creep? Besides, the voice change is hardly noticeable - nobody would even notice the difference if they didn't know it was a different voice actor.
Quite boring and lost my interest b4 halfway thru. Not what I expected at all. 3/10.

Bold and ambitious experiment from writer-director Brian Duffield, who uses almost no dialogue throughout the entire film. The silence creates a haunting and oppressive atmosphere, as well as a challenge for the actors and the audience. Dever delivers a remarkable performance, conveying a range of emotions and motivations with only her facial expressions and body language. She makes us care for her character, even when we don’t know much about her backstory. The movie also succeeds in creating a sense of dread and suspense, as the aliens are unpredictable.

@utopicvision I agree with what you said, but let me tell you it was hilarious to check the comments below this movie and see a review posted by Roger the alien. Thank you for the laugh.:joy:
You know, writers, there are ways to convey that someone is stressed or angry without having them drop a hundred F-bombs in their shouting fit. At least vary the swear words. It feels so forced out of some people's mouths *Tabitha especially), and it's really bad writing when a character's big emotional moment is 25% comprised of the same word. Makes the characters seem inarticulate.
Not a very compelling cliffhanger. I wish the show would just wrap up an arc at the end of the season instead of trying to make the beginning of the next season feel like it's "just" the next episode.
So, my verdict? If it gets renewed for a third season, I'll watch. If not, it won't take me long to forget this show even existed...

@sophiefilo16 only north Americans are complaining about "f-bombs", which is ridiculous btw. Fuck is almost business language :joy:
Wanted to see what all the buzz was about... I've watched 5 episodes and got bored out of my mind. Feels like it's targeted for teenagers.
It has a very simplistic take to it: ultra-hyper-dramatization of very basic concepts and bad behaviors of a minority of people. Reviews say it raises questions about society and politics but does not provide arguments or details either way. The stories are sometimes interesting but lack any depth and in the end, it's the idea that counts, or so they say. Just presenting basic questions with no details and some vague/weird drama only makes people argue and thus promoting the series. I find it pretentious.
One of the society satires i enjoy is South Park which most of the times present quite a complete picture about a topic with multiple perspectives and arguments. Compared to South Park at that, Black Mirror is kind of showing you only what the main character(s) see.

@aloha-ebfcab0e-acb7-41b0-bfef-a71d39d46e20 Comparing Black Mirror and South Park is laughable, but then using "really childish and naive" as a slur against Black Mirror is irony at its greatest. South Park is so mature after all.... Nothing you say will ever undo this faux pas, your opinions are cancelled.

South Park and Black Mirror are 2 completely different styles and genres. I think this one went way above your head because it's actually a very unique concept with smart production qualities as well. Head back to GIlmore Girls it may serve you better :)

@lilaa2020 Darkness has nothing to do with 4k. Check your monitor's brightness and contrast settings, maybe?
How can they know about a "night sky" and not know the stars? I read someone on reddit saying it might be a generational starship and it better not be I'm so sick of that "Lulz they were on a spaceship all along!" crap lately. Either than or it's all in virtual reality. No thanks.

@celozzip Those theories wouldn't really make sense seeing the drills.
I don't care what anyone says, I love this show! And honestly I don't think there will be a big reveal that explains what the hell is going on, I think it will end similar to how "Lost" ended, with even more questions.
