Punching down humour is just not my thing at all.
A difficult film to get through with such a despicable male main character. Eliza deserved better.
Imagine if the writers knew what to with Shannon instead of just killing her off for manpain. So often while watching this show it feels like they’re just making up stuff as they go along, instead of following a bigger plan.
What a yawnfest. They removed the heart of the first film and instead focused on the most boring characters in order to make just another generic broflick.
I can see why this episode never made it to the Nordic countries.
Claire must be traumatised out of her mind to choose the dangers of the 1740s over the (relative) safety of 1945. On one hand, it's pretty realistic for victims of abuse to fail to leave multiple times before they succeed, on the other hand, I know the story is only going this way because of "romance", no matter how awful said romance is.
I just want to grab her through the screen and save her :sob:
Pink baby :joy::joy::joy:
The 2020 version isn't good, but it sure is better than this.
Why did they fuck up Nadine’s story like that:sob:
Man murders his wife, then assaults and kidnaps another woman. Oh well, at least the 50s aesthetic is gorgeous.
I’m so tired of how this show treats its female characters.
Ugh, I knew that abuser dying would be too good to be true:sob:
"I’m supposed to feel sorry for that bitch? I don't."
It doesn't matter what soppy backstory you give an abuser, he's still an abuser.
Disappointed to see this adaptation show everyone's point of view, when the novel only shows Elizabeth's, and we're not supposed to know what has happened until Elizabeth knows. She doesn't know that Darcy has been helping Lydia, so neither should the audience. It completely changes the dramatic structure for the worse.
I wish they had spared showing us the intimacies of a man's relationship with a 16 year old girl. Feels like they're making fun of her for "getting what she deserves" for being annoying, instead of sympathising with her for being taken advantage of by a predator.
All these fanfiction scenes with Darcy is pretty much ruining this adaption for me, especially that ridiculous lake scene.
They took advantage of a desperate woman, murdered her, mutilated her body, and I'm supposed to feel sorry for them? Nah. Sad to see Mike couldn't finish what he started.
I can't believe I managed to get through 23 episodes of this crap, but now I'm done.
American terrorism leads to more terrorism? gasp
Stephen King jumpscare :sob: :sob:
Halfway through the season and nothing interesting is going on. I don't think I've ever seen a show go downhill so fast.
That was a short episode. Only 38 minutes?
This show is just not enjoyable anymore. I have no idea how Daphne and Simon's relationship is going to recover after she raped him, and with the way the show is handling the topic I have no hope I would be satisfied with the resolution they came up with. Treating Simon as if his legitimate wish of being child free is nothing more than him being selfish, and that he just needs a good woman to teach him the error of his ways because a life without children surely cannot be anything but miserable. Daphne knew what life she chose when she married Simon, it does not matter what his reasons are for not wanting children, and it is not something she should be trying to change, but rather respect. She makes zero attempts to apologise for her behaviour because she selfishly things she has done nothing wrong, and the story takes her side instead of telling the story of her victim. Ending the episode with her crying because her horrible plot failed, as if she deserves any sympathy for the crime she has committed. And as if that wasn't enough, it's also disgusting the way the show is treating Marina. She deserves better, and Simon deserves better.
Transphobic piece of trash episode.
A show about a bunch of ableist, homophobic, racist, and sexist terrorists. Great.
I feel like I'm watching a rapist's sick fantasy about what he wants to do to women. Why would anyone think all this rape porn is necessary for entertainment?
I'm so tired of this portrayal of the relationship between Elizabeth and Thomas. Instead of repeatedly showing him sexually abuse her, they should've just alluded to it. Instead of playing romantic music during their scenes, they should have portrayed it as creepy as it was in real life. If they wanted to show how charming abusers often can be, they shouldn't do it in a way that makes the audience feel like they condone his behaviour.
Wow, all the men on this show are assholes.
Both transphobia and rape in one episode, damn.
Two sexual assaults in one episode, that must be a record!
This was a horrible episode. From the glorification of genital mutilation to the "nonissue" of Carrie punching Big. Yuck.
I’m so tired of the misogynistic writing on this show.
