I expected something like “The Post” and got nothing like it. For a film with such a serious subject I was amazed to see how much humor they decided to put into it, and it works.
Just watched it in the Première in Rio and it was amazing.
Unlike in Argentina, in Brazil the victims of the military dictatorship never got justice, quite the opposite, the military got out scot free, with streets named after them.
Gotta applaud the Argentinian people. The most badass on the planet.
Middle of the road special, not bad. But props for doing it live in one take, no cuts, no editing.
Watched this movie after reading a lot of really positive reviews about it. There is not much to say about that film except that it was a huge disappointment, I mean, the story is incoherent: every 5 minutes or so I got annoyed by something that did not make sense at all, it felt like I was watching a cinemasins video. So yeah, you can watch this movie it's pretty short and entertaining but the incoherences are so huge it's irritating. Really don't see how people can rate it 10/10.
The last 15 minutes are rushed and spoil the integrity of the entire movie, especially that unecessary ‘courtesy tap’ quote at the movies final scene. Good not great.
Damn good sequel. Why is it fans like to toss this one off as some inferior piece of crap? Is it just because of Glover and how he's the opposite of Arnold? I think that was the whole point, and it works... It's got tons of great action, some good scary moments (arguable some scarier than the first) and it expands the mythology. What more could you ask for? Was there just not enough ripped, topless beefcakes for you guys...?
Super campy, but I was entertained and laughing my butt off. My mother thought it was hilarious.
Pattinson is the best Batman ever.
he is so tortured, his emotions are sincere. He's the darkest and most precise batman out there.
the visuals and the soundtrack are incredible and take you into the thoughts of the character.
For me it’s a masterpiece.
The most accurate Resident Evil yet and no one likes it. It seems they prefer the crappy, shallow action flicks with Milla Jovovich over a genuine Resident Evil recreation.
If you want to waste your time and money, watch this movie.
This is the simplest comment and reaction that I can describe this movie in brief.
I really regret that I chose to watch this movie and waste a day of the weekend on something that is not worth it.
A cute movie but the more forgettable from Disney this year. Definitely shouldn’t win best animated film. It’s mostly just loud and sort of uneven. With Mirabei randomly bonding with family members.
I have seen the movie again since then and it has grown on me more.
There is no point in turning a story that already had racial components into a silly representation of BLM. Candyman killed to avoid being forgotten, but now kills for racial revenge, which simplifies the depth of the proposal. Nia Dacosta's forceful directing and Robert Aiki's extraordinary electroacoustic soundtrack elevate the quality of a film that sacrifices the horror in favor of a simplistic racial view.
I was really looking forward to this and wasn't dissapointed.
A great movie about two personalities who couldn't be more different and yet so much alike.
Beautiful shots but couldn’t bear this dude’s narcissistic commentary.
Was good overall
Probably the first four-hour movie that I watched in one sitting. Not a perfect one, but the first fiction that caused me emotions since "Endgame". The plot is interesting. The characters are developed. The soundtrack is incredible. It could have been a beginning of something, but, you know what happened. Such a pity that a franchise with this potential has been lost.
Watched it in cinema, not worth the 15 bucks. Okay movie to watch when you're bored, basic action and predictable plot. Could've been a great movie if it was executed correctly, character development is quite poor.
A slow burn of a horror film, this shares many of the characteristic of Hereditary (2018) not least from being a damn fine film. Like the latter, the film takes its time to build up a palpable sense of dread, but also explore the normality and mundanity of its characters and location, mining a lot of humour and goodwill from its central flawed character who only wishes to protect his family. It’s also expertly crafted with beautiful cinematography and a haunting soundtrack. But the tension lies in the film keeping its audience firmly in the same mindset of its hero, completely unsure throughout of where the film is going and what the truth is, right up until a final moments. Great stuff!
The movie might be showing its age, or maybe I'm showing mine. The structure just felt off. The pacing was much too slow until the last quarter. There's something grating about Maverick's character—there's supposed to be, but I couldn't really find anything to like about him. And of course the romance is entirely unnecessary, but that's been a Hollywood problem since long before this movie (and still is).
It's OK. I didn't need my heart anyway.
Porn for film historians and cinephiles but not much else for the average Netflix subscriber and even Fincher fans. It will frustrate and bore a lot (would love to see Netflix’s statistics on how many made it to the end).
Not only does Fincher tell a story set in the golden age of Hollywood, but he evokes the style of filmmaking too. It's cleverly made, and Oldman is great as Mank. However, it didn't quite grip me the way I thought it would, perhaps due to the movie's talky nature. Still, that doesn't detract from what Fincher has tried to do here.
While the story, characters and acting leaves much to be desired, Hellraiser's use of prosthetics and special effects are still amazingly impressive to this day. As a new watcher this year, I was astounded by some of the effects work on show here, which really stands the test of time over it's CG counterparts. Not sure I'll watch the others in the series, but as a stand alone entry it's an impressive 90 minutes.
As a horror movie, I can't really give this more than a 4. As a movie in general, given when it came out and the character - Pinhead - and how iconic it is, it can have an 8. Watch it for the history and for a solid film from the late 80s. Don't watch it for horror - it's not that scary.
Oh the tangled web you weave boiled down to a 2 hour long allegory. Uneven and poorly paced, but well acted and fun wrap up. Worth watching but you can never rewatch once you know the end.
I saw the twist coming.
Watch it once. Forget it.
After watching the movie, I thought about it. The more I thought about it the less plausible the plot became. That is not a sign of a good movie.
The greatest film in the world! Sorry, that's a lie. Truth is, it might be the most frustrating film in the world. See it for yourself and you'll know what I mean.
Santa is real so stfu
Wow, what happened here?
A Mulan remake had so much potential but it seems like they really phoned this one in. I'm totally cool with them going in a new direction compared to the first one as do the other live action remakes (except for the butchering of Mulan's backstory and turning her into a generic chosen-one), but there are many aspects that make this not a great film on its own.
Not only does the film have no personality or engaging qualities, but the directing and editing are just kind of bad. It's clear this is a high budget film based on the set pieces and costumes, but the cuts are choppy, with weird camera angle decisions and times of poor framing. The pacing is also weird- it's a two hour movie that has a long ramp up with quick climax and ending. This leaves the audience little chance to get attached to the characters. The writing and acting also leave much to be desired- often times empty, awkward, emotionless, and full of plot holes.
If this didn't have the Mulan and Disney brand behind it, it'd instantly be forgotten. This could have been so much better.
