If "what the hell did I just watch" had a category, this movie belongs there. The characters are unrealistic analogs and extremely stupid. The plot felt forced and that "love scene" was an awkward mess.
Wasn't scary. It was a tad unsettling. Watched the wisecrack and foundflix reviews on youtube, to see if I missed the meaning or the bigger picture. Nah. It's just an elaborate cult inspired movie. I was expecting a lot after hereditary. I was disappointed.
It's a horrible film. Please don't watch it unless you like horror cult movies that just suck the happiness from you. Not worth the watch. Watch better movies instead.
This movie sucks, just like The wicker man. Waste of time
What a bunch of doo-doo kaka pretentious artsy bs. Extremely predictable, slow, and comes of more like a comedy than a horror movie. If I could give this 0 stars, I would. Anyone that tries to make something out of it than what it really was, has way too much time. There's nothing to 'dig deeper'. Spoiler alert: Friend invites other friends to a remote location for an experience. Everyone gets drugged. One by one the friends get killed by the cult. The end.
holy cow if this movie was trying to be deep it missed the mark it is utter trash!
We've seen this film 2012 times and the day after tomorrow it's not impossible that there will be yet another geostorm in a teacup.
But the first two acts of Greenland are more suspense than disaster and the film is all the better for it. Director Ric Roman Waugh does a great job of building tension around how people act in the face of a world threatening event and the sense of urgency rubs off on the viewer.
Sadly, though, the final act slips into the clichés one would expect from a film of this genre, but not badly enough that it erases the good work that precedes it.
Time for a xmas movie but not a typical one. A killer on the road for Santa. Gibson is as always shining with the acting. You may expect CGI or extreme scenes when you hear that it is a xmas movie, but there is none. I am glad there is none.
It is not the best movie ever but it is more than a timekiller. Enjoyable.

First off, I haven't played the game 'Alone in the Dark' and this is the first Uwe Boll film I've ever seen. From the reviews I've read, the scathing criticism of Boll I've heard and all the message boards on IMDb, my expectations were way low. Game adaptations are inherently bad, the only exceptions I can think of are 'Mortal Kombat' and the 'Resident Evil' movies (yes, I like Paul W.S. Anderson too).
I'm a Christian Slater fan, for starters, and now I'm a Uwe Boll fan too. I reckon, as B-grade movie directors go, the guy's got talent. He handles the sex scene very well (without it being fifteen minutes long and featuring an inordinate amount of nudity and fading in and out all the time) and the film was fastly paced and tight. The visual effects were also amazingly well-done for such a film, the creatures (I forget what they're called) especially.
I could overlook the problems with the script and the acting, but only because 'Alone in the Dark' is so suspenseful and genuinely interesting at times. There's never a dull nor slow moment to be found. I reckon 2/10 is rather harsh. I've seen worse films than this; much worse. While it may not sit well with gamers, 'Alone in the Dark' is one of the better B-grade horror films I've seen in years, just as long as you don't take it seriously.
This movie is without a doubt the best adaptation of King Arthur. The acting is spectacular, the visual style is stunning, the action is excellent, the themes from the source material are all there, and the costumes/sets are the best I have ever seen. I don't think anyone will ever make an adaptation that stays so true to Arthurian legend, manages to cover the entirety of the story, and still ends up so amazing.
Brilliant movie, the first movie I saw multiple times at the movie theater. Nicol Williamson steals the show as Merlin.
I gave this an extra star based on the fact that everyone in the movie is so dumb just like the people I see outside everyday.
Yes it has been done before, yes the budget is clearly a bit lower than others, yes the usual hoops are jumped through but there are also a couple of interesting morale and shocking moments. Not always well judged but also a surprise to see them addressed in a popcorn movie like this.
Easy escapist entertainment with its heart in the right place.
This movie was everything I hoped it would be. Waited 19 years for it. Definitely not disappointed.
This was... great?!? I thought it would be a cheap nostalgia grab, but I couldn't have been more wrong. A fun, often hilarious movie that shows a hell of a lot of heart and does justice to the movies before it. Great feel-good movie, and just what the world needs in 2020.
Absolute shite. Please don't waste your time. Very predictable with a horrible ending. They don't show you who the killer is and what his intentions were for doing what he did. They explained absolutely nothing. I wasted an hour and a half on this dreadful movie. Don't make the same mistake I made.
best comedy of the year
Man, these Trump 2020 campaign ads are getting pretty elaborate.
I don't know how to rate this right now. It feels like The Room 2.0. So hilariously partisan with it's image of what a right winger looks like, while basically telling a story how a racist, misogynistic guy goes off to shoot cuck porn because he's desperate for pussy. It's almost so bad and outlandish with it's acting and scripting that I was laughing a good portion through. If you don't take this seriously, which I don't know how you could, you can get some fun out of this. It's also a classic crux of, "Everything you said is wrong, but I'm not going to explain why," sort of thing. Not the obviously misogynistic parts and the bits of clear mental illness, but the politics. Ronnie as a character shows no growth and stays the same from the start, to the end, only changing is his incite to violence. The mindset lingers though, which begs the question how this is social commentary. The amount of people like this main character that exist are astronomically slim, you can't help but feel the writing suffers from an forced perspective. The music is at least decent. Lambert, you may be the next Tommy Wiseau.
....I didn't like it.
There was no plot.
There was no literary protagonist. There IS a main character, though.
When I say plot, I mean an objective that the protagonist is after from the beginning; Some kind of imbalance that they sense needs to be rectified or corrected. When there is no objective, there is no obstacles in their way, either. This movie is 3.5 hours of, just, things that happen and it never clues the audience in on the endgame...so there's also hardly any climax, either. Its just, this happens, then that, then that, then that...with characters you can't really call "likeable" or "rootable" I wouldn't have cared if DeNiro died at any given moment in the film because I couldn't connect with him.
As far as I am concerned this is the ONLY version of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice that exists. That other thing that Warner Bros. released in theatres is good but isn't a patch on what Snyder originally created. Snyder took an awful lot of flack for the theatrical release, but whatever you think about him as a film maker, you will have sympathy for him once you see how the studio took a hacksaw to his movie. This Ultimate Edition isn't simply another scene or two which adds 30 minutes but doesn't change the movie, it is a sprinkling of expansions to scenes throughout that solve its much maligned choppiness and lack of flow. Apart from the improved editing which allowed the film to breathe, this version of the movie makes you care about the characters more, especially Superman. Following the journey of Clarke Kent in more detail, seeing him actually do some investigative journalism, and understanding his motivations makes a huge difference. This is especially the case in his death at the end of the movie. Without earlier shots of him doing "Superman" things such as helping people after the Capitol Building bomb, as was the case in the theatrical release, I simply didn't care when he died. With the added tidbits in the Ultimate Edition, Supermans sacrifice brought me to floods of tears. Even though I knew what was coming, the gut punch was overpowering! This character expansion also benefited his nemesis Lex Luthor, who with just a few additional scenes (that he isn't even necessarily in), transforms from a spoilt brat into a criminal mastermind. While it was previously suspected, it now becomes clear that he has his fingerprints on everything, from the Africa scene by blackmailing the witness, to intercepting Wallace Keefe's cheques from Bruce Wayne, and Keefe himself being an unknowing puppet of Luthor carrying a bomb in the led lined wheelchair so Superman couldn't see it. Overall, my recommendation if you haven't seen Batman V Superman yet, or if you saw it in the theatres and hated it, is to give this version a watch. I loved it.
Great! I liked the theatrical version a lot... but this is a lot better movie.
Finally a movie the brings the best of the east with a Hollywood favor. I love Asian movies that are just huge and entertaining with Epic battles and fantastic cinematography.
Matt Damon & Pedro Pascal played their roles perfectly around a fantastic cast of Chinese Actors like Hanyu Zhang and the likes. The mix was great and they pulled it off right, for once it didn't look like a cheap knock of a Hollywood Blockbuster!
Must watch for any fans of this Genre.
Let's hope for a sequel because they did the story justice, an unexpected twist which I enjoyed.
I enjoy it thoroughly. Very good action scenes, nice visuals and neat story. The battles were pretty good and you will not get bored. The duration of the movie was superb with no dragged out points
No drama + no chemistry + no romance = empty movie.
Unfortunately the movie did nothing to redeem my negative thoughts about Kate Winslets acting.
This one has a far better plot than the original and everything else is also improved slightly. I don't get why everyone was bitching about it when it came out.
Oh damn, I will miss having a new Sharknado (movie I mean lol) every year! It's so ridiculous but so entertaining! I love it!
Just another movie Dc fans can be disappointed of.Boring Storyline could be tolerated. But why are the action scenes so cheesy:expressionless:
