I’ll never be able to understand the hatred Danielle feels for Bree. She’s not perfect, despite trying to be. And she always had a steady hand, wanted things her way, etc., etc. But I think that comes from every mother. Andrew had difficulties, he was rebellious, he was even kicked out of the house. But he changed, he recognized that everything she did and does is for their good, but that it’s their decision not to listen or follow a different path and etc... Danielle doesn’t change, no matter how many years go by. It is very shocking to hear that Bree and Orson spent THREE YEARS trying to CONVINCE Danielle to pay a mere visit. Regardless of the problems, she is a mother, damn it! Why is that?
On the other hand, Bree really crossed the line on this visit. This veganism thing has nothing to do with the “bad choices” Danielle is making for the boy. I thought it was exaggerated for Bree to care so much about the fact that he doesn’t eat meat, sneaking him hot dogs and telling him to lie. I find Danielle very ungrateful, but watching it again I understand her deciding to leave and not prolonging her stay any longer. Bree criticizes A LOT. And she criticizes EVERYTHING. There’s a limit that anyone can tolerate... About Orson: again being pathetic. Another one who’s displaying unfounded anger at Bree. Blaming her for Benjamin being taken away by his own mother? Demand that she should have “fought more”? How would she do that if Danielle is a MOTHER, had married a LAWYER, and had turned up by surprise and simply took the child away out of the blue, even over Bree’s protests and pleas? As she said, totally unfair for him to make such an accusation. Bree was not to blame for any of this.
I love my Gaby dearly, but it’s a total disappointment the way she handles the fight between Juanita and MJ. Really... Susan went there in the greatest goodwill to alert her of something serious that is happening (after all, MJ has even arrived at home BLOODING because of the girl), and Gaby mocks him, she insinuates that the boy is not a boy? She disdains him for being smaller and “weaker”. Gosh... Susan pushing Juanita was rash, but I thought it was funny. Even more so when she and Gaby grappled in the middle of the street and Edie witnessed it all. Anyway, I also understand what Gaby said, about being relieved that Juanita is not a “victim” and having the strength to defend herself, but I reiterate what she said earlier: this doesn’t necessarily mean she needs to be a bully. And Gaby needs to teach her that.
Otherwise I get really sad when Gaby laments about how drastically life has changed for her. Who would have thought, right? Anyway, I like this whole situation with Andrew’s car, her trying to get him to lower the price. And of course, deciding that she will no longer be a victim at anyone’s hands and demanding the money to fix the broken car.
Lynette overreacted by simply deciding that Tom doesn’t have time for the garage band. This need to control everything and have everything the way she wants it to be, sometimes irritates me, especially when it’s for something as small and harmless as that. I think Dave was very wordy when he went there to deliver the new bass, so much so that she realized that she was going a little too far. Tom was super happy when she delivered the gift. In fact, it was very mean of her to cause the accident to break the instrument worth more than $1500.
And speaking of Dave: he remains absolutely mysterious and thought-provoking. He shows a great interest in getting close to Tom in this episode, which indicates that maybe he is his target, since he is in Wisteria Lane because of a person... That situation at Bree’s house was very embarrassing for him to have to answer about college. And with Edie revealing that she questioned him because of Karen’s interest, I worry. He wants to convince her that she’s getting senile, that she’s behaving like his grandmother before they had to hospitalize her. Oh God...
I’m really enjoying this new attitude from Susan. She’s matured! And she’s more committed, determined to make things work, not trying to sabotage herself or anything like that. It’s a step forward for her – and not to mention her “clumsy” part that keeps getting into embarrassing moments, like the scene where she sabotages the beer thinking it was Jackson’s, and it was from an unknown guy. It’s hard to see her treating Mike like a “friend”. I didn’t want them to be apart, but nothing is lost... On top of that, Jackson is a nice character, you can easily empathize with him. BTW: MJ coming home and catching Jackson in his robe outside was funny. How cute he is.
Guys, Carlos waving inside the kitchen, thinking they were photographing him, HELP. He got funnier now falling into Gaby’s traps. But I’m so sorry that this is happening to them, being uninvited to parties and such. That humiliating scene with Carlos being forcibly taken away by security. I couldn’t imagine that one day we would see Gabrielle Solis like this, losing prestige. I’m so touched by the conversation she has with Carlos at the end... The biggest problem isn’t even being a mother, but her not having help for anything, and still being poor too. Dealing with two small children at home, a blind husband, etc etc...
Bree’s mistake in this episode: she didn’t mention Orson during the interview. I think the point of her question, about having a “Mr. Van De Kamp”, was precisely to know if she was married and she omitted. In that, I understand Orson’s frustration. What he said later too, about her feeling ashamed that he went to jail, might be true. Because Bree does these things... But I don’t think it justifies what he did in the end. It was awful, that expression on his face, impassive, demanding that Bree make dinner so late at night because she had “promised.” Guys... She may be being pretty mean and selfish as she’s already demonstrated – for the reasons I’ve already mentioned and for what she did to Katherine in the last episode – but she’s WORKING.
Bree is releasing a book that is getting NATIONAL attention, not just in her hometown. She is becoming a famous woman, a reference. If men when they work are distant, make promises they don’t keep, come home late, etc etc... Why the hell can’t a woman? Just because before she lived only on Rex’s income and had time to prepare meals “with love” and pay attention, does that mean she has to do it all the time, even when she’s busy? She wasn’t socializing at the party while he waited at home. She was working. I do feel sorry for her feeling repressed and coerced to the point of going to make the food crying. She didn’t deserve this. As “lonely” and frustrated as Orson is feeling, he has crossed the line. But to be honest, it doesn’t surprise me. He is his mother’s son.
Lynette was pretty crazy making a fake profile to keep in touch with Porter, but I thought it was so cute him opening up and her discovering things about him that until then were unheard of. Too bad this thing happened where he ended up “falling in love” and she signed the breakup email with “mother”. I don’t go around judging Porter for not opening up to his parents because most teenagers are like that. I went like that. It’s not every 16-year-old boy who goes around telling his mother about his feelings about other girls or something - that’s why, here on the show, Julie’s relationship with Susan has always been so inspiring and different, because there was an unusual complicity there. I think it should be like that in all mother-child relationships, but what can you do? I just think he should forgive her soon, the mother’s intention is never bad. Lynette doesn’t deserve to be despised.
Dave’s desperation to stay on Wisteria Lane is so strong that he went to mess with someone as harmless as Karen McCluskey. Because of a little joke – I didn’t even understand Edie being hurt like that, since they treat each other like that and Edie didn’t stop being sarcastic. Anyway, it was pretty low-key of him to kidnap the cat and imply to Karen that he had done it when she asked for help. And returning the pet when he heard about the apology... he just gave her a chance to get suspicious.
The episode was very clever in its attempt to make people believe that the reason for Mike and Susan’s separation was death. After all, they showed the accident at the beginning that was very serious, Mike was thrown out. And then, no sign of him. Susan is involved with this painter and then she had that dialogue in the restaurant, explaining the reasons why she couldn’t get serious with anyone at that moment... I could only think he was dead. Not to mention that moment when Mike appeared in front of the house and just stood there staring, as if he were a vision, a spirit.
Well, from Susan’s flashback, we can assume that the reason for the breakup is blame for the accident. On the one hand, Susan is mortified that a mother and daughter died in that collision and she believes they are directly responsible. On the other hand, Mike doesn’t accept to carry it on his back and can’t stand to hear Susan talking about it all the time... It’s natural then that they couldn’t continue in the relationship like this. It’s not what I wanted or expected after so many things they went through to be together, but it’s coherent. Other than that I don’t notice any big changes in Susan. She was just afraid to move on because of these events, but with the final dialogue, I think she’s now going to allow herself to once again fall in love with Jackson... We’ll see.
Gaby has changed the most by far. At least in appearance, since she remains very sharp in comedy. Her clothes, her hair... She’s kind of sloppy, and I also think it’s natural for the situation she’s in now. With two daughters, with a blind husband... Besides, she still has to deal with criticism and judgment from other mothers. I was sorry when she heard the others blaming her for her daughter’s weight... Juanita is cute (the actress is Demi Lovato’s sister, for those who don’t know) and the youngest appeared very quickly, but she’s also cute. Gaby making the girl run after the car to lose weight was great. I have fun with the crazy ideas she has. And it’s a pity that Carlos is still blind...
Bree is too legendary becoming a successful businesswoman. But the selfishness towards Katherine was totally unnecessary. It didn’t hurt to put credits to the recipes they created together and also the recipes Kath made herself. They’re partners, huh. What’s the problem? I thought the punishment Katherine gave her on camera was well done. And I laughed a lot with the hot sugar dripping on the presenter’s face. The situation with Benjamin, however, was HORRIBLE. Danielle was never any good, but she reached another level by going there and simply deciding to take the boy away. He was already about 2 years old or so when it happened. And what the fuck was she saying she had no choice? Please. The day she gave birth, Bree took the boy into her room and asked if she really wanted this. Danielle for a moment didn’t even want to see the child and then she said that what they were doing was right. Now she says Bree made the choice for her?
I think the Carver twins are really cute. And I think Porter and Preston in this episode behave like 16-year-olds, nothing new in their petty attitude. Lying to parents, omitting things, coming home late. And they were always troublesome. I love Lynette so much using Tom’s car against his arguments. It was well done since he didn’t support the punishment she gave for the casino they did at the Pizzeria. Tom breaking his car mirror to show that he cares about the twins and then he added that he ordered a new one was funny too.
Edie returned in style. I so enjoy those first moments with the girls. Susan asking whose husband Edie is now married to made me laugh out loud. Too bad what happened at the party, their disagreement... I don’t think the girls had to apologize, as much as I think what they did at the end of season 4 was unfair. Edie was kicked out and boycotted... But she did it, so she might as well see it all as a fresh start, a new chance... Although she didn’t even want to go back to Wisteria Lane, as she exposed with Dave. It was his decision and there’s a reason... He went through a psychiatric clinic, showed some disturbing behavior. He needs to keep in touch with the psychiatrist. And in that “interview”, he said that there is only one person in the world who needs to be careful – and the contrast of the audio with the scene shows that this person is right there on that street.
A few observations: this accident was so badly handled... Mike and Susan’s car slammed into the back of the other car, literally at the end of the car, and their car was thrown into the air, flipped... And they survived. And the others, whose car barely moved in the crash, ended up dying. I love the show with all my strength, but they could have done more filming this sequence, right? For an accident with people thrown and fatalities, it wasn’t very convincing.
Another thing you can see is that when they introduced Jackson in the previous episode as Susan’s new lover, they still had no idea what he would really be as a character. After all, she came home at night saying “I’m home” and he was there alone wearing a suit. Now we find out that he was hired to paint the house and it’s a secret relationship. It doesn’t make any sense for him to be in the house alone, since she doesn’t even want him to meet her son, and even more wearing a suit HAHA.
I vividly remember my shock when I first finished this season and the mystery behind Katherine’s past was revealed, because I never even thought that Dylan wasn’t really Dylan. Watching it again so many times later, I notice that I lacked a greater attention to detail on my part, since from the moment Wayne didn’t find the scar on the girl’s arm and later stated that he didn’t see either him or Katherine in the her features, I could already connect the dots. The one thing I could not have foreseen, therefore, were the circumstances of this exchange.
Seriously, seeing the image of little Dylan under the closet, with her cold arm sticking out, and Katherine’s despair when she found her, is a harrowing thing. Sad to know that the girl ended up losing her life because of that doll. I can’t even imagine the guilt Katherine felt and still feels for all these years. I don’t think the decision to adopt another girl similar to her daughter was the “overcoming” she needed, because the character showed several times this season she still felt very remorseful and never forgot the little one - she cried at the mark left by the closet, and when she went into the forest to visit the grave. I believe she adopted it for the reasons she said, she was afraid of Wayne and what he could do, and also because it was something she needed to at least TRY to stay sane: the presence of a child, for her to love and care for, do everything she would have done if this tragedy hadn’t happened...
This whole situation with Katherine hostage was very tense, with the conviction that she would get out of there dead – but at the same time she was very brave, since she mocked Wayne almost the entire time. And I think it’s sad, but very revolting, that she tried to press charges against him in the past and also in the present, talked about the abuse and the level of dangerousness, and nobody gave a damn because he was a police officer and a friend of the authorities. It was ridiculous for the investigator to call him to say that he had seen that Katherine really was crazy, while Wayne was there kicking Adam in the most cowardly way possible.
I burst out laughing when Bree is pulled into the house. Desperate Housewives giving hints of humor in scenes of pure tension. Anyway, Adam was a hero. Even fucked up, he didn’t rest until he got to the house to rid Katherine of that worm. And under the circumstances, the only way out for Kath was to kill Wayne. There was no other way... It was either that or running away from him for the rest of her life. For me it was acceptable even more considering the threat he made just before. Just silencing the guy forever for this woman who has suffered so much because of him, to have a little peace. And the best thing about these events was seeing the girls unite to help her. Everyone providing alibis – and to think that at the beginning of the episode they were claiming that Katherine would “never be one of them”. They were very wrong.
Not only at that moment, but also when Bree asked (or demanded) their help to make Bob and Lee’s wedding party happen. And I laughed a lot! Especially in that part where she went to get the sculpture. How unlucky. Cell phone dead, car dying too. That image of Bree yelling at the truck driver for help makes me laugh out loud every time I see it. And then at the wedding reception, threatening to rip the guy’s finger off!!! Orson has proved himself useful with all this siege he’s been doing. But I still agree with Bree, he needs to turn himself in and prove that this regret isn’t limited.
Gaby’s part was SENSATIONAL. Carlos all reflective about the universe and then finds out about Ellie’s money was great. And what about the fight Gaby had with Ellie over the bag? The two of them rolling down the stairs and taking Carlos along was so funny. AND HIM CALLING THE POLICE THROUGH THE CLOSET DOOR!!! One of the best scenes of the episode, without a doubt! When it comes to money things change, right? Before, Ellie was just “I love you”, look at that... But I feel sorry for her death. I don’t think she was a bad person. Of all the houses on Wisteria Lane, she went straight into the one that had a madman holding the owner hostage...
Finally, the scene of Susan recognizing that she doesn’t know how she’s going to live without Julie around is so touching and sensitive. I love the mother-daughter relationship between these two so much. The friendship, loyalty and trust that exists there is admirable. It was cute of Mike deciding to help with this internship with the money he inherited from his grandfather, by the way.
And we have this five-year time jump with drastic changes! The biggest being Gaby! With two daughters, and looking totally different than usual. Motherhood changes people. And so is Bree, now a businesswoman. Andrew working as her advisor, arranging interviews with major media outlets surprised me. Lynette continues to have problems with the twins, now teenagers, they have become young criminals, help! Katherine remained on Wisteria Lane! And she joined the group once and for all. And Susan, man... ANOTHER MAN? Where’s Mike?!! It’s not possible!
Maynard is such an ugly name, man... It doesn’t fit. I super understand Mike feeling this need to honor his grandfather, but they could have put it as a second name. It could be Connor Maynard Delfino, for example. Also, there’s this issue of naming the child after a relative and hoping he’s as big as... But anyway, Susan trying to change his name on the sly was unnecessary, but funny. Lucky for her that a Griselda appeared in the office!!! And what about the balloons? Susan making up that Mike had been molested by a clown, help! I have so much fun with Susan!!!
Kayla is a natural born villain. A psychopath! And from the beginning she has already shown this behavior, right after Nora’s death. She had already made it clear that she didn’t like Lynette, that she would be incapable of loving her and seeing her as a mother. And Lynette tried hard, she’s ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to blame. It was very disgusting to see her being handcuffed and arrested because of a false report from that demon, who watched everything satisfied. Even more so for the scene of Tom visiting Lynn and proving to be on the fence, as she herself pointed out. She is his daughter, yes. But she is troublesome and needs attention at this point, and not close his eyes as if she doesn’t understand the gravity of her actions. She understands everything. It was really good Tom doing that trick for the psychologist to hear everything. She tried to blackmail and manipulate, it was a good thing he saw that.
Just living with the grandparents is not punishment enough, even more so because you can see that they will be spoiling the girl. What she needs is a follow-up as soon as possible, because it only tends to get worse as she grows up. It’s worrying behavior. She was willing to leave Lynette in jail, to separate her from her kids, just because she never really liked her. What kid does that?! I wasn’t moved by her despair in the car. And I got angrier at Tom for the icy look he gave Lynette. She wasn’t the one who caused this... Kayla just reaped what she sowed and still came out in profit. She deserved to be punished, not a hotel pool bath. End of story!
Orson is so inconvenient... Bree has already made it clear what he needs to do to get her to forgive him. His repentance is very limited. If it was real, he would redeem himself by turning himself in to the police to pay for the crime he committed. But no, he prefers to hang around her even in the beauty salon. And what about that Reverend Green? I feel very disgusted, and to think that this type of man who calls himself “man of God” really exists. The guy blatantly harassed Bree inside the car, tried to grab her by force, and for being rejected, having his ego hurt, decides to expose in a CHURCH that she is a “devourer” and deserves to be unmasked. He’s trash. At this point, it was lucky Orson was around. I have no doubt that he really likes Bree, that he does love her. I thought it was pretty cute he trying to defend her and still ended up in the hospital! But he only has one path to redemption. If he accepts to pay, then we can say that he is a person with “hero traits”, as Mary Alice narrated.
I burst out laughing when Gabrielle throws herself into bed with the cop to trick Ellie. And then she slaps him for using his tongue during the play. It was amazing. Anyway, it’s amazing how this show makes us feel empathy for people. Not everything is what it seems... Usually the drug trade is represented as being managed by bad, perverse, cruel people... And Ellie is the opposite. At least she appeared to be. I felt sorry for her when she told Gaby what betrayal had done to her family, to her mother... And when they showed her walking aimlessly around town. Damn... But she committed a crime, right? She was lucky Gaby let her go. BTW: Carlos really believed that Gaby was having an affair with the handyman. My God!!!
Katherine training with Bree was amazing. And what a tense scene when Wayne went there to remove strands of her hair for a DNA test. He has a crazy face, an unbalanced bad character. Lucky for Kath, Bob and Lee showed up just in time. This mystery for me is still very exciting and with these events, it’s heading to have an ending as grand as the 3rd one. With Adam kidnapped, Wayne trying to find out what’s behind Dylan...
The girls’ mothers-in-law are always very complicated, have you noticed? Mama Solis didn’t like Gaby. Phillys has always tried to sabotage Bree – not to mention Gloria, an assassin. And now Adele with Susan. We just need to meet Tom’s mother now. At times, Adele seemed to be saying things in a mean way, as some comments were quite unnecessary. Like the one about the restaurant’s bathroom being cleaner than Susan’s. WTF, I think that’s a pretty bad thing to say. And I think Susan still put up with a lot. And the worst thing was seeing Mike laughing and rubbing it all over. I thought it was funny when Susan splashed tonic water with ice and lemon on her leg to pretend her water broke. She was a genius acting out the pain of contractions! And in the end, the baby came before its time – they said it was a month before delivery. But it was too beautiful to see Susan with her son in her arms at the end.
Gabby finding out in the most unusual way possible about Ellie’s real deal in the house. And I felt sorry for the conflict she’s going to face now, having to hide that she knows from the police investigation, when the woman she sees all the time doesn’t seem to be threatening, doesn’t seem to be evil... It was so beautiful Ellie honoring Gaby for the mother’s day, wanting to do something different and special. There is a reason for everything, right? It’s wrong, but sometimes her justification is what Carlos actually said: it’s easier. We’ll see how it unfolds...
Kayla is one of the most unbearable characters to have ever been on Desperate Housewives. The traces of psychopathy in this girl are undeniable. And the slap she got was LITTLE for what she really deserved and for that HORRIBLE, downright mean comment she made about Penny. What the hell kind of girl is this, man? I don’t blame Lynette for ANYTHING. From the beginning she accepted Kayla into the house even with the bump of the story with Nora. And when she died, she took Kayla in and did everything to include her. In the first moments she already showed that she would be a problem – remember the scandal she made at the restaurant to finish the ice cream? Then she told Tom that she would never love Lynette, that that wouldn’t change. Then she calmed down a little and now she came back with everything to make Lynette and her brothers’ lives hell. But the worst of it all is that Tom doesn’t believe in Lynette. It’s so clear that the girl has problems and it’s not for lack of attention. And yet he closes his eyes to it. Now she’s made a move again... A tip like that could get Lynette in big trouble.
Finally, we have the Edie arc... I like her a lot. Even with her mistakes, which are not few – and they intensified when she got involved with Carlos. Maybe what the girls did, going to her to communicate that they would no longer be friends, or colleagues, or anything else, was deserved. Because in fact they gave her several chances and tried to include her... But I don’t know, I think it’s unfair. They use the fact that Edie went after their husbands as an argument. The only time she did this in pure evil, because she had A LOT of problems with Susan that started in Season 1, was with Mike. What she did there can’t be defended. Aside from the revelation that she had some involvement with Karl when he was married, she only indulged in a relationship with him after he and Susan had been separated for a while (and Susan was already in love with Mike). As a result, she was betrayed – by Karl and Susan! Then with Carlos (with whom she got involved AFTER his divorce, he was very single and Gaby was getting involved with Victor) she did A LOT of wrong things, blackmailed him, became dependent on him, because she fell in love with him very intensely . As a result, she was betrayed – by Carlos and Gaby!
Edie hurt her friends, but her friends also hurt her on this journey. The situation with Orson was random. She apologized for the kiss and said she had no interest in him. And yet Bree decided to boycott her at her job, where she earns her income, because of the man she kicked out of the house for trying to kill a person and for blatantly lying about it! I’m even more sorry because if you look at all this, deep down Edie just wants to be loved. It can complicate this, it can push people away. But she was always needy and that is very visible. I think it’s very sad that she decided to leave Wisteria Lane because of that... Anyway, maybe she returns more evolved and willing to repair her mistakes, right? I’m in the crowd.
Amazing how Susan never got used to Karl’s behavior. Even Mike, who has only known him for a short time, already knows exactly what he is like. And Susan keeps giving this unnecessary importance to everything he says. Fuck, they don’t need to prove anything to anyone. They know if they’re happy or not, if they’re okay with the current situation, that’s what matters. I thought it was very petty of Susan to get mad at Mike for telling him about his drug addiction and his treatment. It’s not something to be ashamed of, it’s a daily struggle, he’s living with it. Karl’s current wife was wonderful acknowledging this and congratulating him. Karl is an idiot, deep down he doesn’t accept that Susan rejected him several times because of a “plumber”, so he uses a low blow to try to belittle him. Mike is above that and Susan should be proud of him all the time. The end!
Another thing I don’t understand: Tom’s blindness towards Kayla. He refuses to hear anything about her and I find it pathetic when he accuses Lynette of not caring about the girl because she is not really her daughter. The fact is one: the girl is problematic. She gave the idea to the twins about the fire and showed no regret, fear, ANYTHING. This is worrying. Add to that the scene at the psychologist’s reception, with her being very smart and blackmailing Lynette to get out of the appointment. And the ending, manipulating the twins to jump off the roof only to see them hurt. It’s like she’s sending a message straight to Lynette at that moment. I hope Tom opens his eyes now, I believe Preston should say he jumped because she “jumped” too.
That’s Orson’s regret: leaving home, getting kicked out. If his conscience was really eating away at what he did to Mike, he would agree to turn himself in and serve his sentence. After all, he committed a serious crime with the clear intention of KILLING - it was pure luck that Mike survived. Even drunk, I was disgusted when he told Bree he was going to use his sleepwalking as an excuse to claim he was asleep when he drove off and caused the hit-and-run. Please... Where’s the redemption? And Bree will end up giving in, she had already signaled that to Katherine and now with this Edie thing...
BTW: Edie is CRAZY, man. I don’t think anything will come out of that kiss. They won’t get involved. But it’s amazing how she somehow always ends up with the “leftovers” of her friends.
Poor Carlos... I know that Gaby really loves him and that she is exaggerated, but sometimes she gets really hard. She grimaces, calls him useless for being blind! What a couple, see! Anyway, this situation with Ellie was funny. Lee playing a straight guy chasing a hooker was awesome. I laughed a lot with him being beaten!! Ellie is a liar, she is not a prostitute, nor is she a tattoo artist. She receives men who go after drugs, and she has a supply inside the house.
Dana Delany once again putting on a show on stage. That meeting with Wayne was very tense, and her exposing to him that she is no longer the same woman as before, with whom he did what he wanted... He took a few steps closer to her, saying that she was irritating him... FUCK! She already knows the type, left the gun close by... Dylan is also very inconsequential, giving intimacy and trust to a person she doesn’t know, she doesn’t know anything about his past...
Looks like Lynette still has feelings for Rick. I find any moment these two have alone unbearable. And once again, I was embarrassed by the scene where she walks towards him, in the deputy’s office, and says “you know me” to get around the lie she told about Tom. I hate that. And I feel sorry for Tom for being there, knowing he loves a person who is clearly resisting feelings for another guy. And at the end of the day Tom was telling the truth all along... In the episode where Rick returned, the twins and Kayla showed up listening in secret to the whole argument he had with their father... But this revelation was both surprising and dangerous. . In addition to going alone at night to the restaurant’s location, who knows how far away, they were “playing” with fire - and they left the match behind, unintentionally incriminating Tom. Lynette’s surprised face when they both admitted... Anyway, I need to talk about the opening scene showing how Lynn knows that Tom is lying, from his reactions. The thin voice makes me laugh out loud!
Carlos and Gaby: both absurdly exaggerated. I love Gaby and her comedic tone, but sometimes she goes too far... Like this thing of wanting a dog that takes the remote, and does so many more things for Carlos because she doesn’t want to anymore. And worse: getting annoyed that Roxy doesn’t have those skills. And Carlos over-exaggerated taking the dog on the bed and practically telling Gaby to go out and sleep in the living room. But as I said above, you can’t help but laugh with her. I laughed so hard with Gaby running with that cookie and Roxy jumping on top of her to get it. And I thought it was cute that Roxy has already become attached to the two of them to the point of running a considerable distance to Wisteria Lane. How cute. And what about Edie? I liked what she said when she went to take the cookies, she’s not even afraid to speak her mind. Carlos’ situation is a reality that Gaby will need to get used to and adapt to. It won’t magically resolve itself... But they will make it work, together.
Dylan is very naive! It’s scary to see her blindly trusting a man she’s just met. And she’s been lying to Katherine, getting into his car at night. He could be her father. But the guy is weird. Katherine is afraid of him and has found a way to hide because he’s certainly given a reason for it. We know he was violent... Anyway, I’m just sorry about that. When Katherine finds out it will be a blast and just now that she’s so excited about this catering business with Bree – I thought the idea was great, by the way.
Bree never really liked public displays of emotion, she’s said that. But it’s so funny Susan crying with the hormones in her skin over her friend’s departure, and Bree and her uncomfortable expressions.
Now, about this whole situation involving Orson: I have a certain problem with this character and the last time I saw the show, I didn’t see any regrets in him. Now I see. I do believe he feels remorse. I believe in redemption, I believe that when people make mistakes and recognize these mistakes, they try to redeem themselves, open up, speak the truth. Orson didn’t tell anyone about what he did. He hid it from everyone. And he actually pretended to be friends – I don’t forget the fact that he went back to the hospital to finish up with Mike when he knew he had woken up. These things weigh. “Oh, but it was his mother who forced him”. Please... He could have objected. He was imposing himself the entire time when Gloria reentered his life. Why didn’t he enforce an assassination order? He did the unthinkable, ran over to kill, and left Mike lying there to die.
I NEVER take away Susan’s reason for running to Bree’s to face him as soon as she found out. Because as I mentioned in the last episode, a lot of bad things that happened to her from the third season onwards were because of that hit-and-run. Not just Mike in a coma for six months, but the subsequent situation with Edie for memory loss. And the recent situation, with Mike addicted to pills because of the pain caused by the crash. Orson is the husband of her best friend. He stayed at her house. They socialize together. They are neighbors. It’s hard for you to face such a reality, knowing that the person responsible for such a horrible act was meters away this whole time. Anyway, I think it’s BEAUTIFUL Mike saying he will forgive and advising Susan to do the same. And even more beautiful is her going to tell Bree that. That it may take a while, but that she’ll be able to forgive and let it go. Brooding won’t do any good... Bree not being able to do that is more understandable, as it wasn’t the first time Orson had omitted and lied about some pretty serious stuff. And he had a chance to communicate with her MANY TIMES. Now he must find ways to redeem himself so Bree can forgive him. The punishment is deserved, but I hope he gets forgiveness.
“I have to walk in these heels all day. You sit in that chair and roll over.” Oh my God. Gabrielle doesn’t exist! Her sense of humor is pretty mean, but she still manages to amuse me, I feel bad! I laughed so hard in this discussion with the boys, man. And when she complained that there was a disability convention!!! Anyway, going for a walk around the city and leaving Carlos in the car all the time was pretty mean and unnecessary. He could go out with her, he didn’t have to stay in the car all the time, she misunderstood the question. If someone were to complain, as happened in the parking lot of the market before, they would see that the disabled person was there, that he is accompanied... And I thought it was very sad when she cried venting that his problem is also affecting her. It’s always like that, and she’s taking care of him as best she can, because she really loves him. Someone else wouldn’t do that. I think many would jump out as soon as they found out about blindness, if you know what I mean...
Rick came into Lynette’s life bent on causing disgrace, right? First it was the flirtations, it made her almost lose control. She lied, omitted things from Tom, they faced a crisis for it... And now he decides to come back opening a restaurant on the other side of the street with the excuse that he couldn’t find another place HAHAHA. Disgusting! His expression when he said that, his disdain... He can’t fool anyone. So I can understand why Tom threw the brick in there. But this fire... Tom has his reasons, that’s a fact. He really dislikes the guy. Except that a fire is much more serious... He wouldn’t have that courage. And it’s important to point out that, during that Scavo’s argument at the restaurant, the twins and Kayla were listening quietly back there... And Kayla is a little devil!
Bree and Katherine are identical! And the speech that Katherine makes stating that they should work as friends, because they understand each other more than any of the girls, is very true and touching. Dana Delany has a facility for emotion. She barely opens her mouth and her eyes are already teary. I felt sorry for her, but glad they both decided to try a friendship now. They are rivals, because they have geniuses, very strong opinions. But friends anyway... BTW: Katherine hugging Bree and saying with a smile on her face “I know you tried to kill me” was hilarious. Bree angry at not being able to present the award, claiming that she was boycotted... And in the end it happened because she was the winner. How would she present the award to herself? What rash conclusions don’t do, right?
Orson has evolved a lot as a character from last season to now. He is fun and caring. He really likes Bree, looks out for the family. It’s easy to like him. But there’s no way to forget what happened to Mike. The coma and everything that was later triggered by it: the amnesia, which made him get involved with Edie and kick Susan into the corner. The pain in parts of his body that made him go looking for medication that ended up causing his addiction... If you stop to think about it, Orson is a lot to blame for these problems that Mike and Susan have been facing in the last year and he never said anything to anyone, lied to Bree, acted like a worried neighbor – and even went to the hospital to finish work with Mike when he woke up. It is complicated. Flashbacks reveal that he was persuaded by his mother, but still had enough courage to do the unthinkable and attempt a human life. This has to be clarified and I think it’s time, there’s no reason to go any further. It’s just that there’s no way this can be resolved peacefully... He’s going to get screwed not only with Mike and Susan, but with Bree who will probably have a hard time processing this... But anyway, I hope Julie doesn’t take too long to tell. With the truth out there, it’s going to be tough, but Orson can try to redeem himself.
And the season’s mystery gets even more intriguing with this ending, the man circling Dylan’s face in the newspaper.
If you take the context out of the situations, Susan’s arc was funny. Her reactions when she gets neurotic are always too comical, and I laugh a lot at everything: when she hears a woman’s voice on the phone with Tim, and leaves Julie alone with Mike to run home. And of course, the moment she realized it was Katherine in bed. And that she realized that Katherine had had sex with the boy when he was just 16. In fact Katherine was a Gaby 2.0. Anyway, I laughed so hard when Susan said that Tim was jumping on the bed of middle-aged newly divorced women, Katherine was offended and it was funny. She had complained in the other scene that she was feeling too lonely...she got quite a party.
But when you analyze Susan’s arc in full, you wonder, why all this fuss with a guy who had, who has or who wants to have sex with girls over 18? Dude? If it were a case of being an underage girl, I would understand her posture... But no! Oh my... I love Susan, but she exaggerates too much.
Returning to Katherine’s plot: the episode emphasizes that she ended up killing her husband. But Tim didn’t see everything that happened afterwards, the guy could very well have survived and done something very traumatic that Dylan witnessed and ended up blocking. Or not... We know for sure now that this whole mystery had one consequence: the death of a person, who is buried in the woods of Fairview.
And once again Edie is being mean for futile reasons. Revealing to Gaby that Carlos was blinded as revenge because of a fake jewelry, man. And worse: gloating over it! After she fell in love with Carlos, Edie was almost unrecognizable. She’s always been mean before, with Susan especially... But all this fuss with the Solis has already crossed the line. Gaby was also mean for what she did to Carlos in the house. She even made a dog meat stew, just for Carlos to eat. But I loved what she said to him when he revealed the reason for hiding about his blindness. There wouldn’t be any love there if she were able to leave him at a time like this, and for a reason like this… And I think the two of them have already proved enough that they really love each other. BTW: If there’s one thing I love, it’s Gaby’s interaction with the priest. His shocked face when she reveals she’s getting remarried, and him thanking her for the idea of changing churches if she gets divorced again was PRICELESS.
And finally, we have Lynette’s arc. The strongest of the episode. Blind faith is complicated and I think it’s worth having these questions, and trying to understand the purpose of things, why certain tragedies happen, etc etc. Bree’s reaction to embarrassment when Lynn interrupted the Reverend was exaggerated, but understandable, as this really isn’t common at all. You just don’t see anyone interrupting a sermon, a mass, with questions. But that doesn’t mean it’s wrong. The priest saying that Lynette was charming and praising her attitude of asking without fear was wonderful. “The church is not a place of answers, but of questions”. Bree was stunned! Anyway, their disagreement was very tense, especially when Bree revealed that her main interest in taking Lynette back to the church was winning the ladies contest... But at least that didn’t extend. BTW: Lynette read the bible really fast, and I thought it was funny how many bookmarks she put in there with the questions.
The relief the girls feel when Lynette and Tom’s children emerge safely, unharmed, from the wreckage of the house. Only to then feel the deepest sadness when they discover that Ida did not survive. In fact, this small moment becomes one of the strongest and most moving on the show. Edie holding Karen’s hand, symbolizing her support... Too touching!
Ida died a hero, by the way. I get teary-eyed when Parker shows up at her house and says with the biggest sad face that she saved his life, that she said she “would be fine in the corner”, and that he wished he could do something... I get impressed how this boy differs from the others – and he is younger than the twins. Because Parker has ALWAYS been a lot more sentimental, he feels and regrets things a lot more. In other words, he is a humanized and well-developed character. And he felt very sorry for Ida’s death, even more knowing that she gave up her place to protect them. This moved Lynette a lot too, which yielded some very true and meaningful reflections. I thought it was very beautiful that she discovered a little more about Ida and regretted that she didn’t value her before, that she didn’t get to know her more when there was still time. And I love the effort she makes with Karen to make her last wish come true. Karen’s monologue is TOO BEAUTIFUL. You can’t help but get emotional. On top of that, they still make the scene funny when they both run away from the police. Karen running was so funny! And Lynette laughing afterwards, how cute!
I have to say, Ida’s nephews are disgusting.
Milton humiliating Gaby during the funeral... Honestly, I don’t think she should have insisted more when he said that she wouldn’t inherit a penny, and that Victor had shown him the pictures. I think I would have gotten up and walked out right away. He even called her a slut and threatened to expose the situation to everyone. What a bastard. I feel very sorry for her in this scene... As for Carlos’ money, it was already expected that they would not be able to recover it because Al himself had said that he had “washed his hands” with that account. I think even if his wife hadn’t destroyed the compromising files, Gaby wouldn’t have found anything – but the moment she’s caught digging through the files and trying to cover it up was priceless, she’s awesome. But now they are poor!!! And Carlos is blind, man. Poor thing. Also, he’s afraid to tell Gaby about his condition because he thinks she’s going to leave him.
Man, the twist! Susan and Julie complaining that Bree would make their lives hell by being a perfectionist, and they ended up surrendering to perfection. But who wouldn’t want to have someone as caring as her at home? Bree is too cute. What Susan did afterwards to keep her from leaving may have been selfish, but I don’t see the malice... I see sincerity in what she says, about feeling down without Mike, and pregnant... Bree brought a little light for her house, plus all the domestic stuff. Stay strong, Susan!!
Speaking of Bree: I laugh so hard at her pushing Andrew at the guy twice his age. And he surrendering in exchange for a television!! But I loved the scenes so much, Andrew starting to flirt with the guy was funny. I hope Bree gets a contractor soon too.
Finally, another twist in this Katherine mystery. Before he had been kicked out of the house, but in the end Adam left with a clear conscience stating that HE was the one who was leaving on his own... The most surprising thing is Katherine’s reaction when she reads the note her aunt left behind. And Adam saying that whatever happened in the past was her fault, not her ex-husband’s. If that wasn’t enough… Dylan managed to read a tiny bit and was equally horrified. This mystery is so intriguing!!
And here’s one of the best episodes I’ve ever seen in my life! For me, the best “tragedy” episode of the show, even more so because it is a natural phenomenon that appears to devastate the lives of all the characters in some way. It’s very strong and full of impact!
Mike’s addiction caused Susan to fall down the stairs. He held her, she tried to free herself, and she ended up losing her balance. And it was also the abstinence that made him get nervous and attack the doctor like that, resulting in the handcuffs... I always think it’s very sad and I get very distressed by his expressions when he’s handcuffed to the chair. He’s squirming and can barely breathe. And everything is occasioned by the need for the remedy. He was already very dependent on the pill and he needs to seek help, he won’t be able to overcome this alone. I feel sorry for him and I feel sorry for Susan too, because it’s not easy... She’s pregnant and she’s having to deal with something like this right now. But I liked that she totally imposed herself and demanded that he seek rehab while there is still time. If this continues, things will only get worse. He needs a boost.
Edie was very bold by impersonating Gaby and taking Carlos’ documents. And the accountant warned, huh? “I washed my hands, these are the only documents”, the only way Carlos had to access the money. With the fight between the two and the papers flying (I always laugh with this clash), we can consider Carlos a poor man now. But the best thing about this sequence was precisely the forgiveness that occurred between them. I think Edie made a lot more mistakes than Gabrielle, and she ruined the relationship she had with Carlos BEFORE she was cheated on. He’d already broken up with her when he hooked up with Gaby at the wedding. In addition, she plotted, blackmailed, and then even told Victor everything with the worst of intentions... But as I had already commented, she did all this out of anger and because she acquired a worrying dependence on Carlos, since she had fallen in love. really for him. It was nice to see her admitting that and Gaby also apologizing for having cheated on her. Forgiveness is essential!
Victor left the hospital early just to go after Gaby and Carlos to kill them. Wow. That moment when he fought Carlos outside with the tornado practically on top of them was very intense!!! And the moment Victor is hit is surprising. His death is so ironic and bizarre. Too bad Carlos ended up injured, he was hit so hard on the head by the object carried by the wind, he even lost consciousness.
Sylvia didn’t lie about the affair with Adam, but I could tell she was pretty unbalanced. pretty crazy. Her talking with the utmost pride that she’d licked Adam’s tattoo. And Bree was pretty reckless inviting her to “tea” just to get the secrets out. Look at the situation they got into... And I feel sorry for Katherine. She really believed in Adam, that he hadn’t done anything to Sylvia, that it was all just her imagination... Sad. The expression on her face says it all. I love Bree so much supporting her by holding her hand. They can be friends, after all they are so similar. BTW: what about Sylvia being carried away by the tornado? HELP “Here I go!”. And she flew away!
I will NEVER be able to understand why Karen did all that with Lynette and Tom over the cat. Because if there’s one thing Lynette has proven, it’s that she’s Karen’s friend and doesn’t just go after her when she needs favors. And besides, even the “favors” are paid, Karen even asked for a raise after that situation in which she was accused of killing her husband and such. In Season 1, without any commitment, Lynette offered to take Karen to the doctor, to buy her medicine. Anyway, she was way too grumpy, and I think it was unfounded anger... About the cat: of course it needs protection. Lynette didn’t let him go or leave him anywhere, she suggested that they give the pet another space. I think it’s absurd for Karen to see Tom with a red face, swollen eyes, having trouble breathing and still allowing the cat down there... What if he passed out? What if his throat closed up?
But anyway, these final moments are tense. Especially this last scene that, once again, brings an impeccable show of acting by Felicity Huffman. I ALWAYS cry. I always get goosebumps when she desperately screams for Tom and then they show that Karen’s house is gone. They make it even more impressive when they open up the plan to show the total destruction of Wisteria Lane. WHAT A EPISODE AND WHAT A SCENE! One of the most memorable and intense I’ve ever seen in my life.
All that was left for Gaby to do was shout to the detectives that she did know what had happened to Victor and what she had done with Carlos, because otherwise, she did everything! An unparalleled effort to look innocent and in fact she was looking more guilty than anything else. Anyway, now she is really in a gigantic problem. Victor is alive, with perfect memory, and he used a subtly menacing tone to state that he “needs to gather all his strength”... The risk that Gaby and Carlos are taking now is surreal, so dangerous. And it’s all because of Edie, who doesn’t measure consequences, who doesn’t think about anyone but herself. It was pathetic of her calling to give “anonymous tip” that Gaby had killed Victor. It’s not enough that everything on the boat was technically caused by her... There’s no way to defend it.
Tom revealing to Bree that he and Lynette used her house when they had to get creative for sex. And boy, Bree looked absurdly beautiful in the scene where she goes to Orson’s office to seduce him. Such a woman! About Andrew: It’s wonderful to witness how much he’s changed for the better. He doesn’t look at all like the angry, mean brat from Season 1 and 2. And I understand the decision to move out of the house, because if you feel like a burden or a constant reminder that your mother has made mistakes in the past, it must not be easy to face... At the same time, it was nice of him deciding to do something for himself and alone, without help, he even turned down Bree’s offer to buy furniture, etc. I loved that she was thrilled when he asked her to use a coaster. In the end, she raised her children properly. Andrew had already said that last season when he came home. She was and is a good mother.
We can clearly see the love, affection and respect that Lynette feels for Glen in that reunion scene. He really had a very positive impact on her life. I loved him, and I love him teaming up with Lynette to try to put some sense into Stella’s head – I don’t even think she was being dramatic or anything, because the things she heard from her three daughters in the last episode were pretty awful. Anyway, he brought this twist on the real motivations that led him to leave, proving once again that Stella was wrongly judged by her daughters all these years... I liked the outcome. I really wanted her to come back to Lynette’s house, because Stella is a lot of fun. But I’m satisfied anyway. I hope she and Glen show up more often, at least.
Dude, Armie Hammer is so handsome. He is a face that you would fall in love with easily!! I like this plot, I find it funny that Susan is delighted that he is studying for medical school, and trying to make him interested in Julie. All without knowing the jobs he actually does. And Mike is in a snowball... In addition to the lies he tells Susan, one after the other, he is increasingly dependent on the pill. It’s time to look for a clinic anyway... And worse is that he can’t even afford to think about it, because as he explained to Orson, he has a lot of things to pay for himself... Susan must have an income, because she supported herself and Julie. It’s not possible that she doesn’t have more and now everything is on his back. All I know is that I’m sorry this is happening right when they’ve just gotten married.
BTW: Orson gets really nervous whenever Mike’s hit-and-run is mentioned. He’s been pretty cool this season, but you can’t forget that. And he must be punished, because he ran over to kill.
I don’t blame Stella for leaving without saying anything to her daughters. It’s not about being dramatic, it’s about realizing that you’re being a burden. I get very upset and ashamed that the sisters are throwing the responsibility of taking care of their mother into each other’s laps, and there is Stella listening to everything outside. Worse still, when Lydia and Lucy show all that contempt, they claim that they are capable of leaving her on the street, that they don’t like her. You know, I understand that there can be resentment there, since Stella wasn’t the best mother ever. But she was a mother. She gave them life. And in that time that Stella spent at Lynette’s house, you could see that she cares a lot about her daughters, she gave Lynn an unparalleled support, and demonstrated that she was wrong when Stella was accused of not remembering important passages from their childhood. I think she is misjudged.
Lynette was wrong to want to kick her, wrong to just walk out of the restaurant after putting her mother’s bags in Lydia’s car, but at least she’s much more aware, sensitive and human. I cheered when she kicked the sisters out of the house, as I would probably do the same. Now they just need to find Stella again. Poor thing, she has nowhere to stay...
Man, I feel sick when Orson talks about how his circumcision was done... Gloria Hodge was a real devil, submitting a 5-year-old boy to surgery where he would be lucid all the time, and in pain. Imagine the trauma! Now, this plot is quite difficult to analyze. There’s no way to reach a consensus when one wants it and the other doesn’t. After all, it is a lifelong procedure. Orson crossed the line by sending the letters to hospitals in the city and neighboring states. And Bree crossed the line too, breaking into other people’s Jewish ceremony to get what she wanted – however it was very funny to see her manipulating the rabbi. The culmination of all this is the mistake she makes when she says that because she has the same blood as Benjamin, her decision weighs more... I feel sorry for Orson for that. Blood doesn’t mean anything. Love means everything. And he is Benjamin’s father as much as Bree is his mother. Good thing she recognized that she was screwed up and apologized right away.
I really hate Edie right now. She is happy to tell Carlos that she told Victor and that he was furious. It is impossible not to conclude that her intention was to provoke a tragedy of great proportions. And all because Carlos didn’t fall in love and decided not to surrender to her blackmail. As for Gaby’s offshore situation, man!!! It’s funny how she hits Victor, abandons him at sea only to find out later that he didn’t have any weapons, just a sweater. But I won’t judge her, because at that specific moment, she really could think he was up to something. She took her on a trip for two, never spoke of what she knew about Carlos, and there was no one else around. Perfect place to commit murder. It’s a surprise when he says he intended to just talk...
Victor was teased by Carlos after the rescue. Victor just questioned what he was doing on his boat, something natural. Of course he would be angry, because after all Carlos is the man Gaby was having sex with. Carlos went and said what he threatened to disappear with the man who slept with his wife and challenged him to act without using money. For much less, Carlos went after a TV operator and beat him up. And he went after John’s friend Justin and beat him up. He jumped to conclusions. Here, Victor was very provoked. And now he’s gone... Who would have thought that Carlos and Gaby would ever carry such a weight?
Susan’s mistake is, once again, thinking that EVERYTHING is about her... It was really annoying to see her confront Mike, saying things like “is it so bad to live with me?”, “are you so unhappy in our marriage that you need to resort to drugs?”. She could have waited for him to explain. And I totally understood what he said. Since before the wedding, Mike has been working like a convict. Now with the baby, he had to double down. He had Bob’s suit that was ruined because of Susan. And this whole $10,000 school thing is really scary. They should have talked about it, Susan has already shown that she doesn’t mind these luxuries. Mike’s problem is that he’s already addicted to the medicine himself, and now no amount of conversation is going to make it go away. It doesn’t work like that.
Finally, Katherine demonstrating in one scene how manipulative she can be and how certain she is about herself. She didn’t write anything on that paper because she already knew that, with her words, she would touch Dylan and make her forget the idea of finding her father. Man...
Edie likes to lie to herself a lot. She told Carlos that she doesn’t know what happened, “they were happy”, it’s a huge lie. happy where? She attempted suicide to arrest him. She was blackmailing him with the account. She proposed to herself and bought his “yes”, and since they started dating, he made it clear that he had affection for her, but not love. I believe she likes him, or she really liked him. I think she really fell in love. But man, let’s face it, she brought all this on her on purpose. Edie did things wrong in this relationship from the BEGINNING.
That’s why I think it’s totally unnecessary for her to go after Victor to show him the photos, as a form of revenge. She barely knows him, she doesn’t know what he’s capable of. And rewatching that arc, I believe that even if Carlos assumed he was leaving her for another woman, she would get revenge. After all, Edie knows that Carlos never stopped loving Gaby. He told her that himself and since then he has only denied that he had fallen in love with someone else again (in this case, Edie). Anyway, to me her attitude is unjustifiable. I have a lot of affection for Edie, I like her as a character. But this whole story is hard to swallow, there’s no way to defend it.
Gaby forgot that she did know about Carlos’ illegal overseas accounts. She’d known this since season one, when he was arrested and she found the papers. All I know is that things are tense right now... Just when both she and Carlos decide to do things right, Edie blows the bomb. Not to mention that Gaby was shaken when Victor showed up willing to fix their marriage (although it could all be fake, because he’s as ambitious as his father).
Susan’s plot isn’t the best. It differs greatly from the other plots presented. But I always try to understand the side of the characters in every situation and I understand her fear after the first meeting with Mike’s father. Guys... Taking a human life and not showing the slightest remorse is scary. I would definitely be pretty upset too. So I thought it was good that she decided to go visit him one more time, without Mike, to confront him. And the answers she got were convincing. The guy already feels guilty, yes. He feels remorse. But he doesn’t allow himself to think about it or show it because he knows he’s going to freak out. In addition, he also regrets that he ruined Mike’s life, who was a small boy, when this happened. He’s not a psychopath then.
I LOVED Bob and Lee’s Halloween party. The costumes were all great. Andrew as Cher!!! I laughed so hard, he was so funny. But Danielle was really the pinnacle. For someone who isn’t that smart, she was pretty creative coming up with this idea of dressing up as pregnant Bree to have a little fun. I died with her imitations and the water bursting just at that moment. Of course Adam knew it was a fake pregnancy. He’s a doctor, he saw that “magic fork” situation, he got suspicious. Lucky he’s not an open mouth, he didn’t even tell Katherine - otherwise she would have already found a way to expose it. What about the Scavo boys at the window, scared to death when “Frankenstein” lifted the child?
Danielle showing that deep down she has a heart, she’s not as mean as she appears to be. The scene in which she decided to hold her son in her arms for the first time was very beautiful. I thought she was going to reject him, and it was pretty upsetting what she said earlier, about hating him... Anyway.
And finally we have Lynette. These scenes ALWAYS make me cry, no matter how many times I watch the episode, such is the power of Felicity Huffman’s acting and the delicacy of the script throughout the approach. I like how they create this whole analogy of cancer, which appeared to destroy Lynette and mobilize the whole family, with the skunk, which appeared to “destroy” her garden. When the doctor appears to give the news that she is cured, that she has overcome this disgraceful illness... Her reaction going outside, smiling to the sky, relieved, warrior, victorious! And then she loses control when she finds the skunk dead, feeling guilty... There’s no way not to get emotional. It’s a very strong, very reflective scene. This is Desperate Housewives.
The girls’ initial reaction to the fountain is very exaggerated and unnecessary. So what if the sculpture is ugly? The backyard belongs to Bob and Lee, and they can put whatever they want there. People bothering about what their neighbors do or don’t do in their house is ridiculous... So the nagging was baseless. But later, when they showed that the sculpture was actually a fountain, things changed...
In this part, I didn’t think it was exaggerated for Susan to think the noise was bad. They turned on the fountain at 6 am. And the issue isn’t water noise, it’s not the fact that Susan “can’t sleep when it’s raining” (this kind of comment just makes me believe that the hate she gets is forced). There is a large amount of water hitting a metal structure. It is very different from rain. And for me, Bob and Lee do it on purpose. Worst thing that exists is neighbor bothering neighbor for the pleasure of doing so. They might as well turn the power on a little later... But no, they’d rather make all that noise at six in the morning. And Lee was very petty saying that the fountain prevents him from hearing Susan talking or singing.
About the presidency: I loved it when they commented that voting for Katherine would be voting for fascism, because it’s really true. And I understand Susan’s side for deciding to vote against Lynette. After all, the fountain is noisy and is right next to her room. But there’s no way not to get upset... Even more so when they talk at the end and Lynette exposes her anguish and her guilt for having “ruined the childhood” of her children, bringing the disease into the house. I wanted to hug her. Glad they’re okay again. I don’t like to see these girls away...
And no matter how much time has passed, or how many times I watch this episode... But I always feel disgusted when Bob and Lee blackmail Katherine using Adam’s secret. The wry smile that Bob gives Katherine when he says goodbye is annoying as fuck. All of this could have been avoided if they’d at least agreed to turn on the fountain at proper times. There is a law of silence and they need to respect it. And I feel sorry for Katherine too. She was so nice to Lynette moments before, and then she took a tumble like that afterwards... Actually, there are two secrets then. The first happened years ago, which made Katherine leave Wisteria Lane. And the second happened not long ago and made her come back.
John revealing that Gaby faked an orgasm with Carlos!!!! This scene is too priceless, John saying so many things, Gaby trying to get around and Carlos listening to everything gaping in the closet!!! Gaby was very brave for rejecting John, I have to say, because he’s even more handsome and hot now. Anyway, I find it very interesting that Carlos sees himself in John’s shoes now, it gives a greater perspective on the choices he is making. The main one was having sought out John to grant forgiveness. I really liked that. And then for proposing to Gaby that they do the right thing now, to keep people from getting hurt. Too bad it was too late. The guy standing with the car really was an investigator, but Edie’s. That won’t be cheap.
Danielle using words she doesn’t even know the meaning of to get to Bree, I have fun. Andrew was absolutely right in everything he said. She is accommodating and wants the most comfortable life possible. Bree and Orson didn’t even have to try too hard or offer more stewardship for her to realize that this nursing home, next to Phyllis, was no place for “fun.” And once again I’m touched by Phyllis. I think it’s so sad that whole scene where she exposes how she feels about everything she’s lost. Husband, house... “The unlucky ones, children”. At least Bree empathized with her and offered to babysit on Saturdays. Everyone deserves a second chance anyway.
The vengeful Andrew showed up again in this episode, huh? It’s funny that he set up the whole surprise party, with Phyllis visiting, just because of the scooter. Bree’s reaction when she sees what’s going on at home is just too priceless. I think the relationship between her and Phyllis is beyond repair. If they didn’t get along when Rex was alive, that won’t happen now as they’ve grown even further apart... But deep down I feel sorry for the woman when she claims she needs a second chance too. When she complains that Bree keeps her grandchildren away from her. Rex was her only child, she suffered a lot when he died... It’s clear that she feels alone. We know she’s not a good person entirely, she already tried to sabotage Bree when she saw her with George... Almost revealed the fake pregnancy secret... And now, she’s kidnapped Danielle from that retreat. But I can’t help but feel sorry.
How awful to catch a sexual disease like that, like Edie did. She got into a bathtub after a sick woman used it. Victor scratching his balls during his speech, oh God. And I love Gabrielle’s trick to be able to put the medicine on him without raising too much suspicion. I think the scene at the party with Edie connecting things is great... The shrimp going from her to Carlos, then to Gaby, then to Victor... Another betrayal successfully discovered! And I feel sorry either way. Even though she is very wrong in everything she is doing with Carlos, trying to trap him and forcing him to love her when he says NO, she must really like him to be able to do these things. And discover his betrayal like this...
Katherine’s secret is so intriguing and hairy that she let her aunt die alone, agonizing... She even sent Dylan to train for the recital to have music at home – in fact, I love how these scenes were merged. Whatever happened in the past, it was heavy and it was in that room. So heavy that Lillian couldn’t bear her conscience... The note she left behind must pay off!
It’s amazing how we change our view of things when we watch it again a while later... At other times I understood Tom saying those things to Lynette, when she refused to be “Candy”. And this time I was very upset. I understand him when he mentions the fact that he is being affected by the disease as well, and about her never asking if he is okay... Because in fact everyone around him is also affected, whether they want to or not. But dude? Tom saying that he wanted to have sex with a person who is not sick... That for a moment he wanted to forget the illness... Do you have to fantasize about being with another woman for that? Lynette didn’t choose to be sick. And the disease is inside her. It’s in her BODY. It’s part of her. There’s no way she can pull it off on her own, she can’t just snap her fingers at it. It was quite unnecessary... But at least in the end they had that moment that was beautiful. Even when something bothers them, they get over it.
And finally, we have Susan’s plot. I find it funny how clumsy and contradictory she is. Talking about the same-sex relationship, talking about the cookies she made. The dog part is much more exaggerated. She could have done it differently, she could have stayed at the party a little longer when she saw that Lee was looking for Raphael, then she could have shown up saying that she hadn’t seen him come home and that the dog was safe in her garage. It would have been better than starting looking for the dog with him, seeing how distressed the guy was… Besides, this effort to make people like her was unnecessary. Affection, consideration, etc etc, comes naturally, not forced. I honestly don’t really like this first impression of Lee, he’s too cocky for my taste. But I understand him not being able to stand Susan, because her first impressions were HORRIBLE.
There’s no way to dissuade Susan from the disagreement she had with Bree. It was immeasurable irresponsibility on Bree’s part. Susan asked for the doctor who sees her because she knows how picky and perfectionist Bree is and that she would seek the best care possible. I understood Bree’s distress in that instant, but simply pulling a random number out of the phone book and passing it on to Susan was unnecessary. The office scene is funny, but what a depressing and horrible place. I don’t know why Susan allowed herself to be touched by the “doctor.” In her place I would have withdrawn as soon as that woman said she was there to buy clean urine. Dude?
For a moment you can believe that Bree is going to tell Susan the truth when they apologize at the end. And she might as well have told her. Bree hides a lot of secrets, and often for pretty silly reasons, as is the case with this whole story now. Can you imagine the shame if they find out she’s been wearing a fake belly all this time? Then she will introduce the child as her son, when in fact he is her grandson. Bree spoke in the other episode that she’s doing this because Danielle can’t even take care of herself... But she can keep the baby, she can raise him as a grandmother, and she doesn’t have to lie about it. This is so common... Anyway, I always feel sorry for her when she finds out that Danielle had a complication. And she feels guilty for not having fulfilled her only request, which was to take the DVD player.
Stella is AWESOME, man. I laugh a lot with her going after Andrew to get the weed and give it to Lynette. And she still uses Parker to make her eat. You can see that what she said when she arrived at their house is true: she cares and wants to see her daughter feeling as well as possible, and wants her to overcome this illness. Her intention was the best, even doing it behind the scenes. And it was touching when she revealed that she remembers the play Lynette played in her senior year of school. She is amazing.
And speaking of Lynette: I LAUGHED SOOOOOOOO much with her high at Susan’s party, and kicking the lamp. Using Edie’s suicide attempt to mime!!! ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT MOMENTS OF THE SHOW. And Andrew seeing her all happy was funny. Her laugh in this episode was contagious.
Edie’s subtlety when showing the engagement ring to the girls. Rubbing them in the face. That was funny. But the situation with Carlos is getting harder and harder to swallow. It seems that Edie has totally lost her self-love. Or maybe she did fall in love with Carlos, but in an obsessive way. Because she wasn’t like this before. Insisting on hooking a guy, getting married, holding him to her... All this for a guy who has already made it clear that he doesn’t return her feeling. Let Carlos go! At least now we know what he wants with that guy: get rid of the account. And so get rid of her traps.
You’re rooting for Carlos to get rid of Edie and stay with Gaby for good, then comes this scene in which Victor clearly states that he would have his wife’s lover killed if she cheated on him. Oh God.
Finally, I always find it totally unnecessary for Gaby to flirt with Adam just to make Carlos jealous. Katherine wasn’t wrong or exaggerating in asking her to stop, because she was doing just that. And man, it was awful of Katherine telling people to imagine “the worst thing a father can do to his daughter”, because that gives a clear idea of rape. Only to later claim that she did it to prevent them from asking questions. This secret that she hides has to be very, very hairy for her to throw people off like this... And that ending with her crying in front of that mark on the bedroom floor. Wow.
That lemon pie made my mouth water, huh? I would love to try Bree and Katherine’s recipe. And I adore this rivalry between them – and I’m always by Bree’s side, importantly. Two perfectionist women competing! But Katherine shouldn’t have switched the pies and hidden the one Bree made. She might as well have invited the girls to lunch at her house, so all the food would be hers and she could serve whatever she wanted. But anyway, I laugh at the women’s reaction when they taste the pie, and Bree’s expression when she realized it wasn’t hers. This plot was wonderfully delicious! Katherine, don’t mess with traditions!!
And in the search for the secret ingredient, Bree once again finds herself somewhat involved in the central mystery of the season, as she overheard Katherine claiming that the family hides big secrets. And that they “need to tell better lies”. This whole arc is very intriguing. Dylan doesn’t remember anything about Wisteria Lane – the photos she’s seen prove that she was already a big girl when she moved. McCluskey revealing that her father came to see her occasionally. The slap she ended up getting for confronting her mother. Wow.
It’s amazing how Julie is always more mature than Susan. I understand that she didn’t do it out of malice, she had a good intention wanting to include Mike in family decisions... But for God’s sake, why lie? She tells him that Julie isn’t going to the party and behind his back, she tells her daughter to have fun? Oh, oh, Susan! At least that decision yields that wonderful sequence at the boy’s house, with Susan being mistaken for a stripper! So fun!! And Julie being totally honest with Mike and her mom when she got home: I love this girl.
I always find it very strange how Lynette is bothered by Gaby not offering to keep her company at the hospital. And precisely because of this lack, she decides that she is the one who should stay there... Surely there was even a bigger reason for Gaby to be so uncomfortable, it wasn’t something for their friendship. And the scene was very touching. When Gaby allows herself to show feelings, she enriches. It was sad to hear about how she watched her father die, how she was guided to be during the visit... And that it gave her the “gift” of keeping smiles even when she didn’t want to show it. I want to hug her. I really loved the photography scene, but Edie was missing there. Katherine has just arrived and is already part of group photos, why the hell wasn’t Edie called?
And speaking of Edie: I feel sorry for her. I feel sorry for all that she’s doing. Her chemistry with Carlos was undeniable, but this obsession with having him ended up ruining everything. And it’s entirely her fault, because she’s always been in charge of sabotaging everything. Not Carlos, he was sincere. They were together, but he made it clear that he wasn’t in love, etc... She made him lose the lease on the house. Then she created that whole suicide circus. And now she’s blackmailing him for the money. As for the final scene, it’s pretty obvious that Carlos isn’t paying the guy to kill her, or get rid of her... Carlos isn’t like that. It must be something related to the account, so he gets rid of that trump card she has without remorse. That’s all that’s holding him back, as Edie is physically better after the incident.
I think this was the funniest premiere of the show so far. I laughed so hard and with all the characters. One of the best episodes of the series!!
Edie is a devil!! Look at everything she came up with to hold Carlos responsible, to make him feel guilty and still stay with him. The farewell letter. The scissors prepared in the right place. I DIE with her intelligence. That’s why I get tense when Karen arrives talking about the dumpsters on the street to Carlos, and she ends up getting in the way of the whole plan. In the end, Edie got what she wanted, even with the unplanned near-death. Carlos gave her his full attention, abandoned his plans to run away with Gaby (this, by the way, was a surprise). And now Edie has decided to turn their relationship into something even more abusive, exposing that she knows about the illegal account he has abroad and that she might open her mouth if he “hurts her.” Really, I don’t understand what she’s up to. If he hadn’t felt love for her before, when everything was healthier, what the hell makes her think he’s going to feel that way now?
Gaby is back to square one. She’s out of luck! She spent years living under Carlos’ wing, being courted not to be “inconvenient”, feeling lonely - so much so that she got into a relationship with John. Now the same thing with Victor. With him it might be even worse, because she discovered that behind the union there was a very strong political interest. I felt sorry for her when she decided to talk and expose that she isn’t feeling happy, and she realized that things are going to stay the same. Now, getting into an affair with Carlos is very risky. First by Edie, who has already made a very subtle threat to him. And second that Victor is powerful, he’s a public figure. If the betrayal comes to light, who knows what he’s capable of...
Susan seeking drama with Mike was kind of annoying. She proved everything the trail guide said last season, she can’t stay steady. But then her arc took a more comical turn and I just laughed: the discomfort when she saw that Adam was the gynecologist. The reaction when he hinted that maybe she was already menopausal. Susan telling Mike she was “dry and dusty”. I can’t help but laugh. And to top it off, she got the news of her pregnancy. Dude, their reaction. Mike almost jumping with joy. WHAT A BEAUTIFUL THING!!!
Another big moment: Ida’s reaction to seeing the fork stuck in Bree’s stomach. HELP, I laughed so hard! Especially when they lied that he was a magic fork and Orson kept sticking it in her again. Anyone would be suspicious, and Adam is a doctor, a gynecologist... Anyway, that lie, Bree could avoid. Danielle doesn’t have to raise the child, Bree doesn’t even know if she’d like to. She might as well keep the baby and take care of him as a grandmother, without having to lie to anyone. Better than going through those tight skirts. What was she holding tightly to the old lady’s hand in the shop? I felt sorry for the poor woman!
Stella is brutal, but she speaks the truth. You can see that she cares a lot about Lynette and is determined to see her daughter free from this disgraceful disease. Lynette throwing up into that annoying woman’s purse was priceless. And there’s no way to hold back the tears when she exposes to everyone that she’s sick. The girls seeing her bald for the first time... And then Lynette giving her reasons for not telling them. How can you not worship this series?
And finally, Katherine Mayfair. An interesting curiosity is that the actress, Dana Delany, was Marc Cherry’s initial choice to play Bree. She declined the invitation and then Marcia Cross was cast. Marc said he wanted to have Dana in the cast at some point, so he made this character especially for her. She and Bree are very similar and strong-willed, and you can tell from their first meeting, with their disagreement over the tree. And besides, Katherine arrives at Wisteria Lane with a bag of very complex secrets. Something happened in that room. Dylan doesn’t remember anything from the time she lived on Wisteria Lane. And there’s still a reason behind the decision to move back to the suburbs, they “had no choice.”
FINALLY WE HAVE BREE BACK! I was missing her so much. And she’s back all mysterious and full of secrets. But it was just a matter of connecting the dots... From their dialogue throughout the episode (like the one where Orson said he would take care of the child as his own) and remembering that Danielle was taken away pregnant. From what we know of Bree, she would never allow her own blood to be given up for adoption, for other people to raise. But she also wouldn’t let people know that Danielle got pregnant without having a husband (she’s a conservative after all), and that her father is a delinquent who doesn’t even live on Wisteria Lane anymore. I think it’s unnecessary to come up with this whole plan to be able to keep the child... But anyway, her choice, right? At least they’re not abandoning the baby. But it’s pretty bizarre.
You can see who Lynette got this strong genius from: Stella! Lynette isn’t afraid to speak her mind, to stand up when necessary – sometimes even when it’s unnecessary. And Stella is the same. I like this character and I think she came at the right time. As complicated as the relationship between the two of them as mother and daughter is, you can see that Stella is worried and willing to help in whatever it takes, because she knows what it’s like to face cancer, she’s already lived it in her own skin. It might have been wrong of her to try to find out from Kayla what the family’s problem is with Rick. But I can get away with it, because she wanted to prove a point there: people make mistakes, and people can change. “You can fight me, or the cancer. You won’t have the strength for both.” Shocking.
Susan and Mike’s wedding couldn’t have been more perfect. I LOVED Susan’s idea. They don’t need to have lots of guests, chocolate fountains, drink fountains... Anyway, it doesn’t need to be extravagant, luxurious, to be perfect and intimate. It was very delicate, everything she set up and everything she said to him when he showed up: about Mike being the constant in every “perfect marriage” idea she had. How I love this couple! May everything work out now, they deserve happiness.
Gaby was already questioning the marriage since the previous episode, now she has had an even bigger disappointment. It’s all appearance. It’s always like that with these politicians. You can’t even imagine how she felt listening to that conversation, with Victor seeing it as a victory in marriage that she will help attract votes from Latino people in the state government campaign. Worse: the father-in-law stating that he will control her by buying things. Dude? It doesn’t even look like the Victor who told Gaby before they started dating, that his ex-wife had ended the marriage precisely because of that, for being treated as a “lover”. He felt guilty (allegedly) and is now planning to do the same. Anyway, Gaby was stupid for deciding to marry without love. I hope she gets back with Carlos as soon as possible – she already did, he was her man after marrying another man. How ironic!
And finally, we have this shocking final scene with Edie committing suicide. First: SHE CAN’T!!! And second, it’s surprising that she would take such an extreme action for the sake of a man. As lonely as she feels, she has always appeared to be a balanced and independent woman... Besides, this annoying situation with Carlos was caused by herself. He was honest with her the whole time. How did she want to make him fall in love, by deceiving him in such a lowly way? Using the biggest dream of his life to lock him up? There’s no way to defend her. I just don’t want her to die!
Anyway, another incredible Season Finale, filled with the best DH has to offer. And that was another exceptional season. From the central mystery – which I love, and it’s very well developed, the best with the 1st so far –, to the individual plots of each of the housewives.
It was very distressing to see Jack going to the park alone. I was really apprehensive, even more so when he got hurt – but on the other hand I was “relieved” to see that the reason for the injury was a fall when he was alone, because in the episode that the grown up Jack commented on this, I had understood that the issue between Kate and Toby had escalated to physical violence.
I don't judge one or the other about the escape, because of the circumstances. Okay, Toby had already made the mistake of leaving that fence unlocked before, but this time it was an oversight in the face of a bigger concern involving the house. He forgot the grate open just as Kate, in the anxiety of the moment, forgot to lock the front door. If you're going to point fingers, then they both have an equal share of the blame.
However, although I understood Toby's side a little more thanks to the episode focused on Kate, I can't help but stand by her in this whole “war”. And this chapter just made me more sure that her arguments make more sense, shall we say. Toby was extremely unnecessary in those accusations he made about her treatment of Jack's disability. She is right to see him and prepare him as someone who, despite his limitations, can be independent. If it wasn't for the song she teaches him whenever they visit the park, what would have become of that boy crossing streets alone?
I think it's sad because I've always really liked Kate and Toby as a couple, and I really didn't expect things between them to go down the way they are now. But taking into account everything they are going through, it's best for each to go their own way. Toby doesn't understand Kate. Worse, he makes fun of absolutely EVERYTHING she does, and every decision she makes as a mother. He doesn't even try to understand her. He only mocks and that's because he is aware that he is not a present father and husband. It's hard to live with a person who just doesn't want to try. For him, the solution to problems is for Kate to make a huge sacrifice and leave the city where Jack is already adapted, as if the problems between them were just the distance thing. It is not.
Anyway, I was really proud of Kevin and Randall interfering in that discussion. The complicity that exists between them is admirable and so real – after all, they disagree, they fight, they stop talking for a while, but above all they are brothers and they will protect each other, it's instinct. This situation linked to the Big Three's flashbacks trapping the nanny in the bathroom to protect Kate was touching.
By the way: I found Rebecca very funny, she was drunk and delighted with the night that Jack (always being EVERYTHING) prepared for the two of them. Ah, how I love them both!
All in all, it was a sad and harrowing episode. And one of the best of the season.
This episode only intensifies the disgust I was already feeling from this whole Lynette arc. Seriously, seeing her closed off, angry, not wanting to talk about losing Rick is too much to digest. I get upset because we see Tom wanting to fix things and trying to understand her. He’s trying to understand everything that’s going on and she doesn’t give a damn. See how surprised he was when she decided she’d rather have sex than expose that she really had fallen in love with Rick? Lynette’s fury in that scene was painful. She was angry with her husband for having sought out her love interest and this ended up forcing his resignation. And seriously, I’m even more upset because if it were a reverse situation, Tom flirting with another woman, going to dinner with her, fondling and holding her hand, Lynette wouldn’t think twice about leaving. For much less, for having interpreted an image that she saw wrong, she did this... Imagine her reaction if Tom had said that he had fallen in love with someone else? I feel SOOOO sorry for him.
But here comes this final scene and in a matter of seconds it takes care of erasing all this disgust I was feeling before. It’s very impactful when the doctor starts talking about lymphomas. When Lynette asks if she has cancer, he says it could be... And she totally changes her expression that way. I always get goosebumps and teary-eyed – Felicity Huffman as always exceptional. Besides, it was really nice to see Tom holding her hand without blinking. A clear gesture that he will be by her side facing whatever she has to face. Because that’s what they are: husband and wife, a team, who always talked to each other and always found a way out of problems. What they had now was just a setback. Their strength will not be erased like this.
I laugh a lot with Susan complaining about Mike’s insensitivity for the one year anniversary of the hit-and-run (aaaaa) and then he set up that whole surprise for her. Susan was so excited that she ended up proposing the marriage herself. Finally they will work. Regarding the conflict with Gaby, I think some of Susan’s lines are exaggerated, such as “do you really think I would like to see someone else’s wedding on the day that would be mine?”. And also the whole non-attendance thing, etc., etc. After all, it’s a date. As much as she had scheduled before, the wedding was called off and everyone was notified. But in terms of planning, I don’t think she was wrong, because Gaby went after EVERYTHING Susan had organized. Worse: she chose the same things! Even the types of flowers. Just imagine? Susan would attend her own wedding, everything she chose and organized, only she wouldn’t be the bride, it wouldn’t be her day. I would be upset too...
Susan thinking that Gaby was proposing to marry her was priceless! “If I were a lesbian, I would totally do you.” And look at the difference in the excuses Victor and Mike made for the double wedding not to happen... Mike’s words made Susan erase any doubts she had about him. But Victor’s words made Gaby question that marriage even more. Because she doesn’t love him. Not intensely... It’s complicated!
There’s no way to support a relationship that is based on lies... Carlos is honest with Edie from the beginning. He doesn’t hide that he’s not in love with her. There is affection in there, but not love. He doesn’t deceive her. But Edie is desperate. First, she boycotted his lease (which I already thought was absurd). But that second attitude was even worse... Convincing him to have a child with her, giving him hope... After all, this is the thing Carlos has wanted most since we met him. And in the end she will continue taking the pill so she doesn’t get pregnant. Doing these tricks she will only drive him away. Because it will come out eventually, it always does.
I love Susan (I never understood and will never truly understand why she is the most hated and despised character among the show’s fans), but I can’t disagree with what the trail guide told her. Because it is true. Susan can’t live without drama. She attracts this in everything she does. Some things happen outside her domain, others she chooses – like the whole situation with Ian from the moment she decided to go with him to the countryside, with Mike in a coma. Everything that happened from there, Edie and Mike, Susan torn between two men, etc., could have been avoided if she hadn’t been so desperate and needy to have someone. Deciding to leave a woman behind just because she was called dramatic shows how dramatic she is. Anyway I like those scenes in the woods, clumsy Susan is always priceless! I laugh so hard when she trips over that tree trunk. What about Mike going back to the guides’ office when he heard there was a clumsy woman lost in the woods? Their reunion was so beautiful, dude.
Gabby acted with such arrogance, it’s really impossible to defend her attitude here. Even though I hated the way Victor spoke to her afterwards, he was right, he used the right arguments. Gabrielle is not above the law for marrying a mayor. And precisely because she is a public figure, she must do the right things. The scene of the conflict with the guard was priceless, because Gaby reacts to things in a very funny way, you can’t help but laugh. But it was wrong for her to run to the other cars and tear up the tickets. If she can’t, she can’t! She has no right to change laws. And besides, I felt sorry for the guy for getting beaten up in the end. The twist in her wrist wasn’t meant to be, he wasn’t trying to hurt her, but rather to stop her from tearing up the fines of people who were breaking the law. Also, she was fatphobic, he was just doing the work he’s paid to do. Getting beaten up for that was the real meanness.
I feel sorry for Edie and her fear of being alone. Fighting for the boy’s custody just to make Carlos stay with her, pay attention to her, it was wrong. She didn’t think about the consequences like her ex-husband. Glad it’s already been resolved. Nothing prevents Travers from spending the holidays with her, maybe a weekend, a long holiday. Anyway... And you can’t deny the chemistry that exists between her and Carlos.
And finally, we have the most unbearable plot of the episode: Lynette and Rick. I can’t help but feel disgusted. I understand what she says about feeling sexy, beautiful. But dude? It wasn’t “innocent flirting” anymore. Lynette was petting Rick, running her hand over his head, taking his hand. They looked like a couple hugging in the refrigerator. She didn’t cross the line, but admitted that she came very close to doing so. And besides, she really should understand that what was going on there wasn’t something just for her. At some point he would try to go a step further, just as he did. What did she expect?
Rick is extremely annoying. Tom shared his thoughts, he knew he couldn’t go straight to Lynette to talk about it because the marriage is already on shaky legs, that would only complicate things further. And Rick goes and declares his feelings to Lynette waiting for what? Did he want them to have an affair while she has kids, a family waiting? I JUST FEEL DISGUSTED. I’m glad she decided to fire him herself, and I’m sorry when she shows up crying in the bathroom – I’ll always prefer to believe it’s a regret for almost doing something very wrong, for having had feelings for another man, and not for losing him. It has to be for that.
Susan ending up at the therapist for her breakdown in the parking lot was priceless—but she was absolutely right, you don’t have to give an inconvenient man a break. It was time for her to reflect on her shared feelings for Ian and Mike and make a choice. Choosing Ian was quite a surprise, but I understood her reasons. And Ian too. He realized what had already been clear since they’d embarked on this together. Susan didn’t forget about Mike and probably never would. He brings out her best feelings, and they had something really strong together. The fact that this feeling lasted even after Mike was a complete asshole after the coma only confirms it. I feel sorry for Ian when he decides to leave, because I know he really loves Susan. But he did it right, made things easier. “You deserve to be happy and so do I”. He will find someone who truly deserves him. It wasn’t this time... Then it happens and we get this bomb that Mike decided to leave Wisteria Lane, suitcase and all. Help man, Susan has no peace even when it comes to her love interests.
Gaby feeling jealous of Carlos!!! I laugh a lot when she tells the girls to stop talking to Edie because of Carlos. And Edie deciding to turn it around, set the playground on fire! Susan and Lynette running to hide when Gaby appeared in the square was very funny, even more so when they got scared by that spider (the most horrible thing!!!) and ran away. Anyway, I find that conversation Gaby has with Carlos after the outbreak so touching. But more on his own part. Opening up that she’s the one who’s in love, that she’s the one who’s getting married, and yet she’s angry and wanting to interfere in his relationship - which he surprisingly already made clear right away that it’s just fun, “it will never be serious”. And being honest? It bothered me. More for the narration at the end of this dialogue that says that Gaby relaxed for realizing that Carlos would always be hers. If she still loves him, why is she getting involved with Victor? She already knows that Carlos is still in love with her, so what’s stopping them from being together?
Lynette’s plot is another thing that bothers me. You know, as grumpy as Tom was, as complicated as the job was, and having to deal with everything alone, I find this flirtation unwarranted. Because let’s face it, people: it’s already past being something “innocent”. Now Lynette gets dressed, she even puts on perfume for dinner every night with Rick, flirts with him, while Tom and the kids wait for her to come home. It makes me even more angry when we remember Lynette’s stance on cheating, and what she did when she saw Tom with a glass of wine in his hand at Nora’s: she took the kids and left. Seriously, I feel very sorry for him when he says he’s going back to work and Lynette, after putting several obstacles to his return, still defends Rick’s stay as an employee receiving a salary that is sucking their profits. Sorry to say, but I’m disappointed in Lynette. And I’m disgusted with Rick.
Parker is a sweetheart. So far he is Lynette’s son who has received the most attention from the script, the only one who has had a more in-depth, delicate and human development. I really like how he shows how he feels and how much he cares about people. It was too beautiful of him to defend Karen – at the same time he gets angry that she can stop the gossip and decides not to do anything. He is cute! I loved her taking his advice into consideration and clarifying everything about her husband. It was plausible. We could already imagine that she hadn’t killed Gilbert, we just needed a reason to hide the body and we could understand her despair. Losing everything she got from her marriage after 34 years, to a woman her husband has only been together with for two years in the past... It wouldn’t be a very fair thing to do.
This whole dinner sequence at Susan’s is so much fun. I laugh with Mike sabotaging the baker’s expectations, revealing about the accusations and arrests he suffered! The moment to choose the cakes, “British, rich and elegant”, and “American and sweet”. I really loved this analogy and Susan freaking out. I liked Mike taking courage and revealing his feelings and intentions right away, both for her and for Ian. And Susan has every reason to be mad at them both. Mike, because he really surrounded her in this episode and that’s not fair considering what he did when he woke up from his coma. He was too much of an asshole. And Ian, besides the jealousy, this whole betting thing...
I think Susan needs some time to get her head together and decide what she really wants. It’s pretty clear to me that her feelings for Mike are stronger and more intense than for Ian. It’s a story that has lasted longer. But Mike doesn’t deserve to have her come back to him so abruptly. He needs to suffer a little to make up for what happened between him and Edie.
I always laugh my head off with Gaby chasing the blackmailer and managing to take him down. What a bastard, dude. Also, it was great to see Gaby deciding to save Victor’s candidacy and assuming she’s the woman in the photos. Even amending that it is not an affair, or casual sex... She was intelligent and strategist, regaining the empathy of the media and especially the voters.
Carlos has now come to his senses about Gaby... He was afraid that other people would know about his involvement with Edie because of her, and then he saw her engagement announcement on TV. I will always prefer him with Gaby. But I think that this moment apart is the best for both of them, because as I mentioned in the last episode, there is a possibility of maturation. We’re seeing Victor bring out this mature side of Gaby. And Carlos has a lot of chemistry with Edie... BTW: they had sex in a child’s themed bed. Limits...
Tom is very annoying grumpy, very annoying sick... It’s almost impossible to deal with him. But in this matter of being disappointed with the direction of the restaurant, I understand. After all, his dream is a pizzeria and that’s what he opened. The name is “Scavo Pizzeria”, not an Italian food restaurant. So seeing things coming out of what he wanted, without being able to do anything, must be really frustrating. On the other hand, I also understand and support Lynette’s decision to redefine the services they offer, because even though it was a dream, that pizzeria/restaurant is now their income. They both work there and take the money to support their family there. They need profit and in that time they were serving only pizzas, it didn’t give the expected result. So, man... There’s not much to discuss, as frustrating as it is for Tom.
But in the same episode we realize: Rick will be the salvation of the restaurant, but the obstacle in their marriage. He blatantly flirted with Lynette when he served that meal. And she was delighted, so much so that she let her hair down to go to work, just as he suggested. I don’t like this plot at all.
Guys, I think this last scene showing Karen in a cell is so sad. She’s so harmless, it’s surreal to see her in such a situation. We know she’s not a bad person, she’s not a villain. There’s certainly a plausible explanation for the husband’s body being in the basement. She told Parker, he was fine after he heard it - even though it’s pretty heavy for a child, seeing a frozen body like that inside the nanny’s house. Even though it was the right thing to do, I will always think it was a little rash on Ida’s part to call the police before confronting her friend about what she saw. But anyway...
Susan sinking the car into that lake and Ian scared to death of the water!!! I couldn’t help but laugh. It was really lucky that Mike was “following” them, right? But look, I can’t stand Ian at this point. His authoritarianism over Susan has been going on for a long time and is only taking on greater proportions. I’ve said it before, I understand that he’s afraid of losing her, because his feelings are real. But giving orders and bringing up Mike’s name isn’t going to help. I think it’s pathetic that he’s inventing that he needs to move permanently to London, a blatant lie, and proposing that she cross the ocean with him. Susan did well to say that Ian should trust her, not Mike. Because that’s really true...
About the kiss: Mike’s attitude awakened the feelings that Susan still had for him. And that’s a fact, folks. She never stopped loving him, there was no time. She entered this definitive relationship with Ian in a matter of HOURS after Mike dumped her at the hospital. This after she spent six months visiting him daily and praying he would wake up. What she felt for him didn’t go away overnight, and Ian knew it. Anyway, she should have told him right away that it happened, because maybe, eventually, he might find out from someone else and it will be worse. We’ll see what has to happen in this plot from now on...
When the kids got chickenpox, Tom told Lynette that she had to stay home with them because he might get the virus too, and that she knew how worse he was than a kid when he was sick. So much so that Lynette actually took time off from work after he warned her about it. Now we’ve seen that it was really true. He gets really unbearable when he’s sick. I hate how he yells at Karen like he’s a little kid. I hate how he keeps making demands. I hate how he comforts Lynette just so he can have sex with her. In fact, he wants to satisfy himself, she needs to do the work for him, since he wouldn’t do anything... I like Tom soooo much, I really do. But you can’t justify that. It’s hard to see Lynette killing herself on that job and all he does is grumble at home. Not to mention the rude customers, that guy saying the calzone was bad: pathetic!! You just don’t talk to anyone like that. That is, if you’re a decent person. Anyway, I loved that Lynette decided to hire Rick. She needs all the help she can get right now, and he’s experienced.
BTW: I keep thinking that Karen could have taken the kids to her house and left Tom mumbling to himself. Dumping them on Lynette in the middle of the day, with a restaurant full of people, and knowing how exhausted she is physically and mentally? I think Karen didn’t act like she should...
What Gaby won’t do to get what she wants. But she was too bold to take that hot guy to kiss him in front of Victor in the middle of an electoral debate. I laugh a lot with him all unfocused. That’s so Gabrielle. And analyzing this plot, the purpose of this whole attitude is to show that Gaby can mature with Victor. What he later told her is true: she takes relationships like a battle, a war, in which one of them must win. It’s a competition. It seems that she is still in that spirit of divorce with Carlos, it hasn’t completely left her. And relationship is not that... Victor is elegant, polite, charming, and with a very different attitude from Carlos. He’s more serious. Maybe he ends up redefining the concept of “relationship” for her, the true meaning of companionship and complicity.
Carlos, Edie and wild sex. I always laugh out loud when they climb onto the table and it breaks. THIS SCENE IS TOO MUCH. And in the end, they made the wait and the bad experiences worth it. I will always prefer Carlos and Gaby together, but Edie and him don’t seem so absurd anymore. They have plenty of chemistry. And I think it’s so sweet that Carlos is so involved with Travers. He really likes children a lot.
To finish: that last scene is such a shock!! Soon Mrs. McCluskey, so harmless, with her husband’s body in a freezer for who knows how many years. I love this little mystery and the highlight it gets.
I laughed with Ian all worried about how clumsy Susan is, afraid his mother would get hurt receiving the rose. And in the end it was much worse. I laugh even more when it shows him and his father talking inside the house and in the background we see Susan setting fire to the woman’s arm. This scene is priceless. Then Susan seeing Mr. Hainsworth wearing women’s clothes in her room, man! One hell of a family! But this whole prenuptial thing I think is so complicated. Because on the one hand, I think the fuss is exaggerated. On the other hand, there is the question of trust itself. Then it becomes difficult... I think she was ingenious in blackmailing her future father-in-law, and it worked. But the decision to tear up the papers should come from Ian, shouldn’t it?
Mike deciding not to continue with the sessions to fully recover his memory left me very touched. I don’t think it’s fair that he lost everything, bad things happened, but he had a lot of good times on Wisteria Lane, and with Susan. I understand that what is weighing on him is the fact that he lost her, and that each time he remembers, he realizes how much he is in love with her – and he certainly regrets having been such an asshole when he woke up from the coma and for listening to everything Edie told him. But anyway.
What a horrible thing happened to Gaby’s closet in the house! I would be completely stunned by that. And how daring she was entering Victor’s house when he wasn’t there, just to steal his ex-wife’s clothes. I laugh a lot with the amount of dresses she picks up and how she comes out “full” from there, saying she’s feeling lighter. The maid of the house just looking!!! I don’t judge the ex-wife’s reaction when she saw Gaby wearing one of her belongings at the party... She was already nervous about the divorce, left her clothes with her ex while she renovates her own house and then sees her couture on someone else’s body . Who wouldn’t be pissed? But Victor surprises me a lot with his reactions. First, for not being disgusted that Gaby had entered the house and stolen so many clothes. And then for the defense he makes of his ex when Gaby calls her a “bitch”. Man acknowledging guilt within a divorce, who didn’t treat his wife as he should during marriage, showing respect, is something rare, huh?
The pizzeria’s orange uniform is just awful. Tom could have chosen another color. Red would be better. Or something a little lighter. I understand Lynette doesn’t feel like using it, especially being one of the administrators. She’s controlling, she always has been. Of course, at some point she was going to be distressed, in agony, for having to do everything his way inside the restaurant. Personally, I think both are exaggerated in this matter. Tom shouldn’t force her as she is the manager. They as owners could use something different, at least... And Lynette for deciding to leave that way just because of that. Anyway, that scene where she returns to the restaurant and finds Tom passed out for who knows how long is very touching, dude. Lynette despairing and forbidding Tom to die. I get all goosebumps. Now she’ll have to run the restaurant by herself for months... But at least he’ll recover.
Edie suddenly realizing that Carlos exists. I feel bad about the whole plan she comes up with with Travers to attract him – the boy is super cute, by the way. Anyway, I think Carlos is pretty exaggerated when he throws those things in her face again. Last episode I thought it was ok because she was irresponsible going out at night and leaving the boy alone. I think she does what she can for her son. Anyway, I really like this moment when Edie decides to show herself as she really is for him. She actually “takes off her makeup” and takes the “character” apart. It might be weird for her to do this just for Carlos, just to ask for a chance. But I think the sequence is very sensitive and true, since he had an image of her and she tried to deconstruct it to show that she is not just what he thought. Or whatever he thought. All in all, one of the best scenes in the series for me.
It had already been revealed before that Edie did have a child, but only once and that was in the very first episode: when Susan talked to Martha Huber at the market, and she stated that she would be “Edie’s child’s babysitter overnight”, because Edie would have a date. That’s what led Susan to Edie’s house, thinking the man was Mike, and caused that fire. Since then Travers hasn’t been mentioned again, but at least it’s not a scoop. He appears out of nowhere, but for those who remember these details...
Anyway, about this arc: Carlos all cute worried about the boy playing in the street so late. He missed the date and everything. And I don’t think it’s bad the “shake” he gives Edie when she returns home. I find it absurd that she decides to go out like this, leaving an 8-year-old boy alone at home. Heck, can’t she put off these little parties to spend time with him? She rarely sees him. After he’s gone, she can go back to her normal life... I think what she does is really exaggerated. But on the other hand, I like the sincerity in her words during the conversation with Carlos the next day, about the reasons she agreed to give full custody to her ex-husband, etc. Despite all the flaws, I love Edie Britt so much.
I can only imagine Bree’s reaction to this Danielle bombshell. And it’s very rash how they decide to deal with the pregnancy. Danielle is sent off to who knows where, so no one knows she’s expecting a child, and she can’t return until she gives birth and the baby is put up for adoption. But one way or another, Edie and Bree will now have a common blood bond.
I always think it’s weird Julie telling Austin that she cried over his letter. I don’t know, I find it hard to imagine that because of the reasons that led to the end of their relationship, right? But I understand that he was, and is, the first love of her life and often people in love are not very rational. Anyway, Austin deciding to leave after the conversation with Andrew... I think it’s sad, I think he could change if he wanted to and if his feelings for Julie were real. But then there is also this business of him being aware that he will have a child with the neighbor...
Ian confirmed to Mike that he’s been rushing around because he saw the engagement ring. It doesn’t surprise me, and I just don’t like it! I’ve said it before, it’s justifiable because we know he has real feelings for Susan and he’s afraid of losing her. He’s been cheated on before, he’s held a grudge against Jane for a long time. But I don’t know, it bothers me a lot! Especially this bet they made on her behalf. This whole thing about Susan not being able to know why Ian proposed so quickly (he didn’t even have a ring!)... Add this to what has happened before, Ian asking Susan not to see Mike anymore, getting nervous for this one reason... At the same time I feel angry at Mike too, because all of this could have been avoided if he hadn’t been such an asshole to her when he woke up from his coma.
And finally we have the best arc of the episode: Tom! The idea he had to celebrate his wedding anniversary was WONDERFUL. A real romantic, man. That’s why I felt so sorry when he was dispatched like that by Lynette. “I’m working hard too, and what keeps me going is knowing I could do something special with you.” Right in the feels. Too bad it all went so wrong afterwards. I laugh a lot with Lynette alone, in the middle of nowhere, with freezing weather, and Tom having no idea what had happened. I feel sorry too, of course, but it’s funny. Like the wonderful couple they are, we had this beautiful scene in the cafeteria and Lynette asking Tom to never give up on surprising her, nor let these celebrations go unnoticed. It’s impossible not to love. His smile in the last scene, so beautiful!
Anyway, I think this episode is great. It’s the only one in the entire series focusing on men, showing their point of view. And with Rex’s narration, which was amazing. I loved his comments. It’s nice to see what he thinks of everything that’s going on these days, especially in his own house. I laugh a lot when he says he’s relieved to be dead, given his children’s recent attitudes.
I love this Hodge family mystery so much. I find it intriguing and it was soooo well handled throughout these 15 episodes, so you could easily connect the dots about Monique’s murder by Gloria’s behavior since she appeared. Always with a menacing tone, she didn’t hesitate to say that she was capable of killing. Then she showed obsession with having Alma as a daughter-in-law and having a grandson conceived by her, she was even able to set up her own son to be raped. There was also that scene where Gloria tells Bree that in God’s eyes, “she was the other woman”, therefore her marriage was a sin and invalid. If you put the pieces together correctly, you could conclude that she was the killer.
And all the scenes that came along with those revelations were fantastic and great for me. Gloria completely hallucinated planning to kill Bree and make it look like suicide - which culminated in the revelation that she had done the same to her husband, and still blamed Orson. That’s the mother of the year, huh? She really wanted her son to be fully happy. She blamed him for very heavy things. She killed the one he loved. She helped rape his body. Anyway... As I commented on another occasion, I consider Gloria Hodge one of the greatest series villains I’ve ever watched. By coldness, by manipulation, and by madness too. As for Orson, while he’s a victim of the two women’s scheming, I don’t entirely absolve him of guilt. He could have turned Gloria over to the police. Covering up Monique’s death the way he did was a choice, and Gloria had absolutely nothing to use against him. The blackmail came later. And we can never forget that he tried to KILL Mike. That hit-and-run was not intended to put him in a coma, but to silence him forever. It’s pretty clear that the reason was because Mike saw him at Monique’s house, which could implicate him in her death. It was file burning. Orson can’t get away with this – and it’s worth remembering that he conveniently omitted that part from Bree. Only he knows that now.
The ending of this plot for me is too brilliant. I found the story that got into the hands of the police believable, and even cleared Mike of the charges. I was sorry for Alma’s death, it was horrible. She was troubled by loving too much, and in the last moments she was showing sanity, she was finally going to give up on conquering Orson and move on with her life. She didn’t deserve to die like that. Gloria’s outcome was impeccable! It was a smart creative decision for her to become a quadriplegic, hostage to her own thoughts, unable to speak a word. But aware of everything. That scene of Orson turning her head to see him go away forever... WOW! In addition: I highlight Andrew again and the wonderful change he has gone through. It was BEAUTIFUL of him running back home willing to protect her when he learned that Bree had been left alone in Gloria’s hands.
Gaby assuming to Carlos that she thought she had sex with Zach!!! I die laughing as she throws herself on the floor. And Carlos having fun with the situation is funny... Even more so when he realizes that she didn’t do anything with the boy because of his size. But seriously, I hope this episode was Zach’s farewell, because this is a bizarre character and plot. It’s abusive. Gaby making it clear all along that they could only be friends, and the guy goes there and proposes in front of everyone. He likes to be embarrassed. Anyway... Carlos assuming he’s having a hard time staying just friends with Gaby was cute. Is it too much to ask for them to reconcile?
When Tom is disappointed, he is a pain in the ass – and I LOVE him so much. His posture and expression was so ridiculous when he saw the chairs. After all, it was an honest mistake and she worked so hard to get other seats. She explained everything and still he stayed that way... It annoys me. But luckily it doesn’t take him long to realize the mistakes he makes. It was beautiful of him saying that everything was perfect and thanking Lynette for her support. I will always repeat: MY COUPLE! Disagreement happens in any relationship. The important thing is to get over it and value what they already have.
The ring Mike bought for Susan drives men pretty crazy, huh? First it was Karl, who ran to give her a giant house. And now Ian. From the last episode we already knew that he intended to ask Susan to marry him. But it’s a blatant fact that seeing Mike’s intent accelerated this process. I shouldn’t be too bothered by that, because we know he has strong and real feelings for Susan. But I don’t know, it bothers me a lot and I think it’s pretty rash too. BTW: I felt the full impact of Susan saying that with Mike, “there’s always a problem”.
