We're Going to Team Building

There are a few funny moments, but overall its nothing special. It's even worse, when you take into account, that this is already a remake that changed very little.

Argylle

Another great example, that while Apple can have all the money in the world, they can't create anything. Was Jobs really the only person there that had any taste?

While this started ok, it quickly became unwatchable, stupid story and stupid characters. Not sure what happened to Bryce, but she starts to look like the Michelin man. Have you noticed that none of the male spies were obese? I wonder why.

3 Body Problem

Always when I watch a show like this, I do hope that real scientists are smarter. But the older I get, I no longer belive that.

Overall, the underlying story is interesting, the show just is about everything, except that. There are a few good moments, but a lot of pointless ones. The moment where one adult had to explain to another adult that 43 + 8 is 51 killed all hope for this show for me

Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities

After rewatching Twilight zone, Outer limits, Tales from the Darkside and Tales from the Crypt for at least 5th time, I was looking for something new. And I stumbled on this show. Maybe be because I wend to it after watching so many great shows, but this was just bad. The acting and effects were good. The cinematography mostly also, just often too dark. But the stories were just boring, dragged out, uninspired, forgetable. I only like the 3rd episode, that showed a bit of originality. Skip this show, go watch better ones.

Tales from the Crypt: Demon Knight

The TV show is much better.

Monolith

While overall I enjoyed the movie, and the whole premise was interesting, in the end it felt more like a waste of time. Like you are going somewhere and everyone keeps telling you that you will see something cool at the end. And when you get to your destination, there is just nothing there.

This movie is like 50/50. 50% great, 50% complete trash.

The Void

The movie on its own is not bad, but the acting just drags it so down that it's hard to take seriously.

Nothing special. It got really annoying over time as she blamed everyone, but never herself.

The Beekeeper

Statham 10/10, fun as always, writing 3/10, uninspired and boring, everything else 1/10, and I feel I'm being generous. The only reason to watch this is if you like a Statham action, nothing else. If I did not recognize some of the actors from other movies/shows, I would think they were random people they found on the street—total amateur hour. And the whole dumb and dumber FBI act got tired so quickly. Why were they in the movie? What was the point?

Wasabi

Such a fun movie. I stopped counting how many times I already saw it.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom

Not the worst thing ever, even watchable in some places, but overall forgettable. The whole movie feels more like a collection of random scenes, that they just needed, not as a story. Could be a result of reshoots, but that does not make it better.

It's an ok movie, but I could not shake the feeling that they are just throwing random stuff around, just to distract from the overall mediocre story. Actually, the best thing was the Ooompa Loompa. Funny in every scene he is in. I wish they used him more.

Also, did they try or just by accident create the best advert for diabetes?

When I saw that the writer (and almost everybody else) of Beyond the infinite two minutes wrote a new movie, I just had to see it. And it again play with the idea of time travel, but again in a very unique way. This time it’s a Groundhoog Day style movie, but it repeats after two minutes and everyone is in on it. Surprising how much can be done in two minutes. While I liked Beyond Infinite 2 minutes more, as it tried to show a simpler story with more intricate time travel aspects, this was also good. The time loop hooks you in quite quickly and the resolution while not that original, was not bad. I did not really get the snow. They did not try to explain the weather changes much, so at times it felt distracting

Update: on the second watch, they do try to explain the snow, as shifting realities.

Super Size Me

I think the only reason he did this "documentary" was to be able to eat some food, not the trash his girlfriend was feeding him.

Have you noticed that the guy he is interviewing, who eats two Big Macs daily, is not fat? Also, did the "doctor" really call McDonalds a high-fat diet? Was he blind or just stupid?

In Love and Deep Water

An OK mystery and an OK romantic movie. It is a bit stretched and looks like a commercial for a cruise line in some parts. But the two main characters work quite well together, and as long as you watch in Japanese (the English dub, as usual, was unwatchable) it's entertaining enough.

Fake Marriage

A fun show, that is caried mostly by the main character. Too bad the writing gets progressively worse as the episodes go. If they stopped after the 8th episode, it would be better.

Rebel Moon - Part One: A Child of Fire

Some of the designs are nice. And that's all the positives of this movie.

The saying "show, don't tell" is something that the director and writers should write down at least a million times before they try and make anything else. You are being told about these great characters the whole movie, that just do nothing.

There is no real story here. The acting is mostly mediocre. Bad fight choreography with pointless slowdowns. Too many useless characters. Drawn out boring scenes. Was a pain to finish this, and I don't plan to watch the sequel.

Tomorrow I'll Wake Up and Scald Myself with Tea

A decent time travel movie with a very twisted ending. As usually, too bad that the time travel makes little sense. But for the year it was made in, it's quite good.

Father Frost

This movie always brings back memories of my childhood. It's just a perfect Christmas movie. Still as great as it was 30+ years ago when I first saw it.

Thanksgiving

A decent slasher movie, with a lot of gore and some questionable acting and writing. But overall, it was entertaining enough, even not really memorable. The thing that mostly stuck out to me were the CRT monitors in the police station. Based on the iPhones they all used, I thought this takes place in the present day.

3ft Ball & Souls

I like movies that take place in one room. It's probably the closest you can get to a feeling of a theatre play in a movie. But they are probably some of the hardest to do right. There is no chance to distract you with scenery or effects. It's all about the story, characters and acting.

So it was a nice surprise that that all worked well here. It starts slowly, but as it progresses, you can feel the despair in the characters and how they change their views. I wish they used the time-loop a bit more as it is mostly forgotten in the second half, and were a bit more creative with the character motivations. I also was surprised by the overall very happy ending, not that common in Japanese movies.

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters

Pretty visuals, but mediocre writing. Feels really slow and bloated, with mostly nothing going on. There were moments when I thought this was written by AI. I hope the story picks up, but that will not help the horrible characters. As in most shows, the characters that should be the smartest behave like total idiots, and that repeatedly. Suspension of disbelief is not enough to take this seriously when there is no effort shown.

This Child Is Evil

This was one really creepy movie. Went in a completely different direction than I expected. The mystery of what is really going on will keep you hooked until the end. The revelation was okay, though the ending could have been handled a bit better.

Corner Office

I'm not even sure why, but this movie was fascinating. It just pulld me into the mind of the main character.

Totally Killer

The script and the story overall was not bad, the horror aspect was also quite good. I enjoyed the movie overall, except when the main character was talking. She is pure cringe, and really hard to take seriously. Also, her acting was quite mediocre. At least the supporting cast was better, even though casting 25+ year-olds to play 16 year old high schoolers was not the best idea.

4.50 from Paddington

Quite a good modern adaptation of the Agatha Christie story, just too bad it often looks like they were short on budget. Some locations look just bad.

loading replies
A Haunting in Venice

Hmm... what to say. It's better than the last one. Definitely better. But it still feels off. It's just not the Poirot that Agatha Christie created.
But at least it's watchable, and the mystery was okay. Overall I just did not like the character of the author, she was just annoying. Trying to convince Poirot multiple times that ghosts are real after being caught faking them was just stupid. Also the use of so many wide-angle shots felt really out of place. Maybe it was the setting, and it would work better with a modern one.

Night of the Hunted

It is quite entertaining and keeps you guesing most of the time, what is happening. Too bad the ending does not give any answers, and leave a bad taste at the end. A good surprise or twist would be better here. Also, I presume the black guy was blind. Hard to explain his behavior othervise.
