I didn't realize until rewatching this much later, but this movie shaped my dating theory from an early age into "take no shit"
So she learned from the letters that Melmont lied and tried to steal the money from her. That he was a mass murderer.
Yet she decided that it would be wise to meet that man again, all by herself. Seriously, how stupid is that plot?
Hard Rain is one of my guilty pleasures. Beginning with the rainy scenario, the actors, the actually good story with some plot twists. I simply enjoy it.
I knew Emily Blunt from several earlier movies but it was The Adjustment Bureau that made me become a huge fan of her. And she didn't disappoint ever since.
Since the initial episodes, this series became highly favoured TV for me and I have now placed it in my top 40 list. THE GOOD FIGHT began by co-opting the creme du la creme talent of THE GOOD WIFE: Christine Baranski, Cush Jumbo, and then added another talented Brit, Rose Leslie, to the core cast. With great writing and the first season casting of some tried and true talent: Paul Guilfoyle and Bernadette Peters, it was off to a great start. Although I thought THE GOOD WIFE faded away and needed to end, this series was a Phoenix rising from the ashes. I initially gave it an 8 (superb) out of 10, expecting it to rise. The second season was 9s (superb) all the way, so, now, at the end of season 2, I'm giving the whole series a 10 (best television) rating out of 10 [Legal Drama] If you haven't seen any of it, I highly recommend this as one of your summer binges!
I had no idea what this movie would be about and that really did benefit my experience.
I'm probably overrating this episode by 1 point, because I'm too excited that we finally had another great episode for this show.
Anyway, it IS a great episode, with a nice mix of revelations and story + character development.
Oh, Danny. You naive precious little puppy. Clearly you haven't been in the real world for 15 years. You can't go around telling people who think you're crazy that you are a warrior and the Iron Fist. But aww, poor soul. He has no one. :( I'm also starting to like Joy. I mean she already had her doubts and I loved how she proved it with the M&Ms. Unlike her brother, she seems like a decent human.
Spectacular effects with a weak grip on realism. What do you expect from a Michael Bay film?
"This is a true story", but no doubt the real details are less…Hollywood.
A very original fairy tale. The unique animation might be off-putting for some, but it is something that makes the movie all the more magical. This is a lovely work of art for both young and old.
Encanto is better than I initially expected it to be. It has lots of charm, the songs actually contribute to the story. Usually I despise Disney's tendency to provide some singing under any circumstances.
It's still "only" a 7/10 because the climax of the story couldn't keep up with the excellent rest. The general story buildup was great too though, as it left much room for the characters to develop depth.
Count no man as happy until his end is known
Μηδένα προ του τέλους μακάριζε
Yeah, "all that Greek shit" that the writer doesn't even fucking know that it was Solon who said it to Croesus!!!
Solon!

Wait, did he fake the voice before or during the heist? If during, the timeline doesn't match up, but it seems he got the idea when he saw the two kids in the street that reminded him of his own past.
But if he faked the voice before... Well, why not use that directly? Was it a plan B? Did he forget he had the voice until he saw the kids?
None of this make sense to me.
Cate Blanchett is amazing. But that's true for pretty much all of her movies. And this one has nothing else to offer. Unless you are a kid or have kids.
There is so much that makes little to no sense at all, I simply can't be bothered to sum it all up.
The two or three times this was somewhat amusing, can't compensate for the pain all the rest of this movie caused.
Hmm. I don't get the enthusiasm for this episode.
There is extremely little relevant material for the greater story arc. We already knew about as much about the red angle, the only new information is that somehow life on several planets would end. Wow!
Considering this story deficiency, the plot is shockingly bloated, feels very 'constructed' and is often enough illogical. I won't bore you with details why it was completely unnecessary to travel to Talos, when simply sharing experiences was enough to heal Spock. Or how disappointing and shallow the Spock-Michael interaction was. Or how the communication with Pike could have been far more efficient, if they hadn't used Vina and her mastery in missing the point.
Do not believe ratings for this truly amazing movie and go watch the Michael Cimino-approved version of 219 minutes. It is one of the best films ever made and a true masterpiece (that has cruelly been bashed or overlooked for too long). Photography is breathtaking, music is astounding, the actors are great, the narrative technique is close to a literary feat with the very effective use of ellipses (used perfectly by Cimino in The Deer Hunter as well) and the overall story is really human, touching and down to earth. It is a grandiose American epic with a philosophical spirit. It is one of the best proofs that cinema is Art.
It wasn't as bad as Luke Cage, but Iron First certainly isn't a good show without flaws either ... heh, actually my average episode rating is 5.615.
My biggest problem: Danny certainly isn't the smartest cookie in the world.
But he actually had pretty much nothing else to offer either, besides his problem with using his head just once.
Fighting? - Even here his character was annoying as ****. And Colleen was a much bigger joy to watch.
The craziest part though is that Ward, of all options, was by far the most interesting character, with the most interesting development and, compared to others, his decisions made actually sense from his perspective. Sometimes.
A good episode, but nothing special. Some minor decision making made little sense, so does "the science".
I also frequently feel like they'd recycle too many elements from previous shows and movies. "Riding on top of an explosion" is getting old, for example.
And about the show in general: I'm a bit disappointed by "the hounding" from setting to setting, within few episodes. So far Discovery's priority certainly isn't to deepen the plot, rather than jumping to the next climax.
I still can't believe how shitty this show is. Luke Cage was actually a promising character in Jessica Jones, his show though ... ugh.
How I despise this product is best summed up by the character Misty Knight. When Luke & her meet the very first time it once again seems very promising ... just to fall apart beyond recognition for the rest of the season.
Follow the story and imagine what stupid / unprofessional / emotional reaction the character could make in the worst case and the most idiotic reasoning she might give to explain it ... and she will surpass your nightmares regularly!
I don't know if I should credit Simone Missick for great or terrible acting, because she tremendously adds to the painful experience. If that was intentional: Amazing job!
You might think now that I have specific problem with her and her character, but far from it. She just is my "highlight". Besides Rosario Dawson and some other minor characters, nobody achieves a C rating.
And the story, in every single detail, can only be considered a travesty.
I love the new introduced characters, as well as how they revisit the familiar characters, after they meet again. Rich variety, all with reasonable and believable traits.
I hated the first 20 minutes. I actually left the sneak preview..
[7.0/10] Solid episode. The opening rundown of the week's news was pretty standard stuff that all the usual suspects were doing. There's plenty of hay to be made from Spicer's slips of the tongue or Trump mentioning his resort's cake or messing up the name of the country he just bombed, but Oliver didn't bring anything particularly new or insightful to it. There's something frightening, as he pointed out, about how quickly Trump changes his mind about major things, some of which he campaigned on, but that's not a new observation. And the "Now This" segment about local newscaster doing egg puns was fine but unspectacular to boot.
The main story, on the French elections, was informative, and had some good humor in it. I don't know enough about the topic to judge the accuracy or comprehensiveness of the segment, but it was a nice entree for someone who knows little about the election. The whole appealing to French superiority like an old art film shtick was kind of hacky, but as I've said here before, the little cutesy end segments on LWT don't always do it for me.
Overall, perfectly fine episode, but nothing to write home about.
I not surprised she hated it - Dick van Dyke's "cockernee" accent was horrendous!
A decent house by the lake horror film with a little bit of The Invisible Man in there. Watch it if you are a fan of Rebecca, she is great in it.
Timothy Olyphant is the best, but in this episode he didn't really get the opportunity to shine.
I also don't get the enthusiasm about this episode in general. There was nothing bad about it, but there also wasn't anything unique or excellent about it. A standard story, nothing more.
Absolutely worth watching, though not without flaws.
It begins so good ... and then it almost fell apart when human interactions began to unfold. Often enough the dialogues are simply embarrassing.
The often mentioned end was actually pretty good in my book. It certainly made more sense than the development of the greater plot, the escalating conflict.
Damn, there goes my hope after 3x01, that the writers learned how develop interesting characters.
I don't know how they manage it, but somehow the complete crew of the Discovery is blessed with diverse character flaws, making it a challenge to like them and almost impossible to identify myself with them. This crew literally feels alien to me.
And Georgiou as the antipode for the Federation in general, won't be enough to save the show.
That the plot is so very very generic certainly didn't help either.
A very mixed bag. Some combat scenes were amazing, many others not so much though.
The soundtrack is great, but it gets pretty repetitive when it seems that there is only this one soundtrack, with some minor variations.
Same can be said about the plot. We have seen and heard pretty much all of it already, in previous movies. Raven's role was the only innovative element, and Jennifer's performance the only outstanding. Sad to see her go, especially after this movie showed the potential the character Raven still had.
