It's so hard to heap enough praise on this show and do it justice. The complexity of the story, the beauty of the land. The cinematography, direction, acting from the stars to the extras, and crew giving 100% to the production of this masterpiece, it's such a pleasure to watch.

Such a beautifully told story.

House of the Dragon: 1x08 The Lord of the Tides

Wow. Just... Wow!

This episode had me hooked from the first moment to fading out to the end credits. I needed to force myself to blink as my eyes were drying out.

Stellar performances and exceptional writing. It had its cutting moments, family moments you wish your family can have, and not have.

Just watch the damn episode - brilliant
Thank you cast and crew, I truly hope for many awards coming your way. 10

The Orville: 3x05 A Tale of Two Topas

The Orville does it again!
The writers are bringing their A game in this season, not that the others were anything to whine about.

This is truly what I loved about Star Trek from days of old. Using an emphasis on culture differences between different alien races to provoke thought, challenge norms, ideas, and without smacking the viewer in the face, the question posed is 'what would you do'?

This was a beautifully crafted episode that gave it depth, the topic needed to be given the time to be laid out before the viewer for proper and due care of the subject matter. There were a number of strong ethical questions, personal, and presented the positive and also the harsh negative outcomes.

I am really enjoying The Orville this season. There is far less comedy in this season but I think personally I like the challenge of the subject matter. And yes I'd like to see some more of the comedic episodes too, but if there's a bit of this and some of that with this writing team, bring it on.

Congratulations The Orville cast, crew, writers, another superb piece.

[How can this episode already have several ratings for it? - original post Oct 10]

[Review]

What a ride! Hail the Black Queen!

Honour, allegiances, and common sense still become clear in the rising tide of war. The intentional overcome by the accidental rage which more than often starts most wars.

Excellent writing, direction, performances. Every aspect of this show drips high fantasy for adults and for those that don't need everything to be spelt out to them as an audience.

Now this sudden recall of the realisation of the long anticipation between the early seasons of GoT is overshadowing the brilliance of this finale. No matter, I'll just rewatch it!

Thanks cast and crew for this splendid Season 1. And restoring the hope there can still be in Quality entertainment coming to an expecting audience and that all is not lost. 10

House of the Dragon: 1x01 The Heirs of the Dragon

Well the first episode obviously did some initial grounding of the characters and set the scene of what we can somewhat expect from HotD season.

It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. I still can't get past 'Lord Corlys Velaryon' considering in the older times especially they kept in breeding as they didn't want their bloodline tainted. That is well known in the lore.

Back in GoT, Xaro Xhoan Daxos was a trader and fit well in the show, as did other ethnicities depicting different houses and regions. It just doesn't sit in the story well and is a clear token character to get a PoC into the main house. It would have been better to have a Meister role or other primary role but not Targaryen.

I always give new shows 3-4eps to either hook me or push me away, so we'll see what next week brings us.

Dexter: New Blood: 1x01 Cold Snap

Hello Dexter Morgan!
Returning back to Dexter is like finding a bottle of your favorite whiskey and taking that first sip.
I'm hoping all those old and new Dexter fans come on board because episode 1 did not disappoint!

Silo: 1x05 The Janitor's Boy

Definitely a slow burn. First two eps were more engaging, no doubt to capture an audience and now it is slowly cooking along.

Some good actors in this show. Hoping the attrition rate will slow. So far so good, if the sci fi distopia genre is of interest to you.

Dexter: New Blood: 1x10 Sins of the Father

Very frustrating, frustratingly frustrating.
Dexter, being a Blood spatter and forensics dude would have known about pins and they have their own serial number, hell, even I know that, and I know and Dex would have known that and seen the scar as an indicator that Matt had surgery while doing his slicing and dicing. And every man and dog knows these are made of titanium and don't melt.

I don't know... I'm pretty disappointed at the moment and not sure about the whole lot now.

Then the second Cameo... what the hell was that all for?
Yep, disappointed.

Dexter: New Blood: 1x03 Smoke Signals

Who else is friggin enjoying Dexter as much now as in the original series? So damn good!

It looks like the apple doesn't fall far from the tree in the Morgan family with the glimmer of a dark side in Harrison. we have a few mysteries popping up, another classic trait of Dexter OG.

This is good time for Showtime to announce a season 2 renewal, because of they think they can get away with just a single season they have to be friggin nuts! We've been starved of good TV show content over the last few years (with one or two exceptions), Dexter really needs extra attention. Who can just let this new found family of dark passengers alone to fend for themselves...?

Silo: 1x08 Hanna

Great episode!
This is a slow burn show, as we know, so given that, this episode was a roller coaster of information and probably the pivotal point of this season.

It's one of the better shows at the moment and one of the few that I'm interested in. At least this has some quality to it.

The Walking Dead: 11x20 What's Been Lost

We are witnessing a show that is being bled dry.

The early scene of Daryl being pinned was so lame all to show he is vulnerable to danger even though we've seen far more dangerous moments Daryl easily deals with in the past.

Then the writers are clearly drawing out the final shows as their writing has become far too predictable.

Let's hope the finale of the last two to three episodes make use of the last handful and not serve us more fillers till the very last episode.

Not saying I haven't appreciated the many seasons of great performances, thrilling conflicts, and monsterous humans, and of course the zombies. It is just wearing very thin in this last season with it broken down in so many release parts etc.

Dexter: New Blood: 1x09 The Family Business

This feeling I have watching this episode brings back all the tension and shouting in my head that the original series got me in at this time of the season!

The crescendo of episode 9 of the original always had me rewatching a few times to try figure out, 'okay Dex, how you gonna get out of This?!' Needless to say this episode is no different because, 'reasons'. (not gonna spoil it for anyone).

I'll say it again, there better be more seasons coming up in this new series and it can't just end like Dexter's Righteous And Violent Ends of his targets.

There will be Dark Passengers bubbling up and out of few million viewers at least if there isn't a season two announced pretty soon...

Shōgun: 1x06 Ladies of the Willow World

This was such an excellent episode!
It was most definitely a deep and expansive foundational narrative for the whole saga. The nuances, the meaning, spiritual significance, and subtleties I fear of certain acts of this episode are lost to the viewer.

I would imagine the significance would only reveal itself to those that have read Clavell's book prior to watching this amazingly crafted miniseries.

My hope is more of Clavell's Asian Saga is made with the same detail and love that Shōgun is clearly made and acted.

My further wish is this beautifully crafted series challenges others to put their heart and soul into future movies/series that rivals the quality we have in this miniseries. While at the same time putting the sword to the trash we've had to endure as quality entertainment enthusiasts seeking our next love, and yet being disappointed time and time again.

Dexter: New Blood: 1x07 Skin of Her Teeth

Friggin bananas! Talk about twists n turns!
And that was some damn Cameo... My skin turned ice cold.

And that, "Leave it to the police... What could possibly go wrong"... Classic.
That 45min episode felt like 10min. I give this ep a very high 9+.

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters: 1x07 Will the Real May Please Stand Up?

What's going on with this show? It started okay but it's quickly being bogged down with 'Melrose Place' soap and especially 'tude stuffed young women stinking up the show.

And all this focus on their dad 'running away'... they had binoculars, how the hell could they misinterpret his sign language to them?! He didn't flip the bird at them...

The tide is coming in for me and if they don't get out of this bog the show drowns for me and I'll be tapping out.

The Mandalorian: 3x07 Chapter 23: The Spies

Well...
I was hoping for a tongue in cheek comment in the trap something along the lines of "This is NOT the way", but I guess it was too corny even for what this show has become. Yes / No ?!
Well I'm gonna say it. This is not the way. I was kind of expecting the Din Djarin getting the treatment of what the big guy got to be honest. His show has been taken away. I guess there's always the finale to complete Pedro's contract.

This is not the way. Maybe I've just become jaded over how many shows have succumbed to having no real imagination or creativity any more. Well here's to next week, hopefully the finale pushes the funk out of the way and it is an enjoyable finale.

The Peripheral: 1x02 Empathy Bonus

It had me totally intrigued and immersed in this story already.
The ensemble is well put together, the writing is good, giving us enough reveal and mystery, while keeping the time frame depicted as realistic.

See Amazon, you Can put something together that can draw interest and keep an audience. It doesn't have to cost a Billion either. I may have wrote out loud what I was thinking. Ohh well.

Shōgun: 1x04 The Eightfold Fence

Huge Episode!
Explosive and side splitting throughout.
A lot of political gaming going on and some laugh out loud moments. I wasn't expecting that at all but funny nonetheless.

I get more excited and eager for each episode as we progress. A brilliant show.

The subtitles are the only thing that detracts from really enjoying the acting and the spectacle. But there is no other way, as dubbing to English would be a much bigger disappointment and cheapen the quality of this series.

What is more enticing is Shōgun will get better as the mini-series progresses. Truly a brilliantly made and acted show.

The Walking Dead: 11x24 Rest in Peace

You know those long drives when you were young and at the beginning you were excited for the adventure... But after a long while the inevitable comes out of your mouth; ARE WE THERE YET??

We finally made it. It was a good adventure when it first began but the journey became too damn tedious and boring especially the last few seasons.

Thank you for the ride.

House of the Dragon: 1x06 The Princess and the Queen

Welcome to the two new actors... probably not the best episode to form a proper opinion of their skills as actors, but the episode itself had a lot going on and it was hard enough who was who and why just two actors needed to be changed and yet Ser Christon was his young looking self. And all those kids... are we suppose to keep track of them all? Such a shame Daemon's new wife (for this episode) had a problem, such a beauty.

We have a Dragon population explosion and there are a number of very interesting gaming pieces ahead methinks, for the throne. I'm not really sure why they chose to fast track the prestory into 5 episodes rather than extend the story over the first season. They must have their reasons I guess and we will know soon enough, but it better be a good reason.

We shall see how next week goes...I did enjoy this episode. Gave it a 7/10.

But we never see the toilet in Any Star Trek show but we've seen it time and time again in this monstrocity of a sh!t show. B-bye

House of the Dragon: 1x05 We Light the Way

The Game continues to play out.
Matt Smith steals the win again in his short but impacting scenes.

The hearts and minds of men will always be manipulated, played by the women with grace and expertise.

I would only say about these first 5 episodes, even though I appreciate these are merely a preface to the main arc of this series, I think it could have played quite comfortably throughout all of this first season.

It's sad to say goodbye to Milly Alcock in this episode. Well done dear lady. Well played.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds: 1x08 The Elysian Kingdom

Come On! What The F***.
This sort of episode you would find in season 4 or 5 after the show has established itself. This is so disappointing in every respect.

I did find it funny how the dog continued to lick the chest of whoever that was, and that I highly doubt was written into the script.

Thank the Star Trek Tribbles there's only two episodes left, I nearly bailed on this episode it was so bad and I promised myself I would watch the whole season before deciding whether to continue or not. Just utterly lame.

Lucifer: 6x06 A Lot Dirtier Than That

I am so disappointed in this particular show. The music and the way father and daughter found the connection in the music was beautiful and I can relate. But actually glad Lucifer is finishing up this season. This last season has really gone to hell in more ways than one. White man bad, white cops bad... Continue this bull crap negative and false narratives and the entertainment industry will be going straight to hell also. Sad. The first few seasons were really quite good and I've enjoyed Lucifer's return and renewal. But now I'm guessing because of new writers the shows going the way it has. Oh well, just a few more episodes, if I can.
