Annnnnnnd even more questions. Great.
Also, nothing in this episode made any sense. The randomness of this series is infinite. And I believe that every revelation, every plot progression, will continue to be random. Because, after two whole seasons, NOTHING is connecting. Nothing.
Dear creators and writers, if there’s another season, please give your audience some effing payoff for once. It’s getting ridiculous.
WHY would you give Randall the gun for ANY reason? How could any writer think this material would make logical sense?
Jim continues to be intolerable. What an awful character.
Lastly, it’s insane how a second season is about to end and NO questions have been answered. It’ll be a TV miracle and creative genius if all of these mysteries are properly tied together.
If you’re thrown off by this episode and the obvious fact that it doesn’t align with the Black Mirror mentality, Google “Red Mirror” and read what Charlie Brooker has to say.
This was a solid episode with great performances. You’re allowed to appreciate the story regardless of the box it’s apparently supposed to fit in.
People are hating on this episode, and I get it. But if this were an episode of The Twilight Zone, I think it may have gotten more praise… because it wasn’t awful. And points for it going in a direction I didn’t expect AT ALL. But, for Black Mirror, it definitely missed the bar.
Make it all make sense.
The rate at which this story progresses is borderline painful. I’m at the point now where I expect every episode to have little to no momentum.
For example… the most compelling part of this episode is that they finally have a body of one of the creatures. But that arc is constantly disrupted by boring plot points and character conversations that nobody cares about. And when they FINALLY go to do the autopsy, they stop after the first incision only to cut to Kenny complaining for the tenth time! It’s a special kind of torture.
It’s just very disappointing considering how much potential this show has. But they’re not taking risks. They’re not wowing us. Before I watched this, I read reviews that warned viewers not to get too attached to characters because they’re quick to be killed off. Several reviews mention this. But nothing is happening! Nobody is getting killed off! Almost two full seasons in, and there are no answers to ANYTHING. Only more questions.
I couldn’t care less about trees moving, or who might be pregnant, or constant hallucinations that are relentlessly unexplained.
On top of that, Jim and Kenny are simply intolerable. Ugh.
Seriously, Kandy? Leave it to her to eliminate competition and not base her decision on track record. Intimidated much?
Wow. Just when I thought it was getting a little too predictable, it went there. That was dark.
It felt like Black Mirror, but also not at all. Genuinely unsettling. I liked it.
At first, thinking of how this show once consisted of (and was catapulted by) fairly unknown actors, I was a little perturbed by the abundance of celebrity appearances. Then the twist happened… and that was actually all really clever.
Kahanna, worry about yourself and maybe don’t suck at Snatch Game. At the end of the day, it’s a competition for 200k and Heidi was only doin’ her damn thing. The narcissism is real, honey. Not a fan. You should’ve gone home.
Kandy, I see right through you. You said what you said and you’re just crying about being called out on it. Another one-note queen who’s pissy after falling short one too many times. Consistently saved for the sheer obnoxious “entertainment” you bring to reality TV.
I’m basically annoyed with both of them for ganging up on Heidi, whom I adore and was rooting for. Now I’m cheering on Jimbo all the way. That Snatch Game of hers had me in absolute stitches. If only she channeled her Shirley Temple moves into her lip syncs.
Also, did anyone else notice how watery Heidi’s eyes were when she was talking to Ru about her Snatch Game? So sad.
Boyd not telling people about what he discovered is infuriating.
I’m not sure I like where they’re going with this old-man-tied-to-the-wall-of-a-castle stuff. And the whole passing-on-the-parasite thing.
If they keep creating more questions before providing any answers, the show will go south. That’s when things stop being entertaining and the frustration begins.
Why does Jade ALWAYS HAVE TO YELL? He needs to take it down a notch. It’s a bit much.
Also… I understand that we need character-building, but there are way too many inane chats that don’t advance the plot. Let’s get a move on already.
I will say that the ending was surely interesting.
I don’t know if LaLa realizes she’s on an “All Stars” season. That look was NOT it. And Jimbo desperately needs to work on her lip sync skills.
Yam Yam’s big personality came across, to me, as “showy” and forced. I was not enamored by it like everyone else. And I don’t believe he was as strategic as everybody perceived him to be. He clearly wanted Carolyn out for a while, but failed at convincing anyone else. So I’m not thrilled with the winner. (Although it beats last season.)
I was really rooting for Carolyn, but happy she reached the end. We, as an audience, were lucky to have watched her play. Such a unique and genuine contestant.
The season is half over and I feel like barely anything has happened. Character interactions are boring as hell. The acting is questionable at times. When is this show gonna kick into high gear? When am I gonna start giving a crap?
It’s a shame because there’s some true potential here.
Elizabeth Debicki is absolutely extraordinary. She embodies Diana on an otherworldly level. To reiterate what another commenter said, give her all the awards!
Why. Doesn’t. Felicity. Give. Avery. A. Piece. Of. Her. Mind?! So frustrating.
Ben is a perfect human being.
I know it’s probably a random thought, but this episode gave me 13 Reasons Why vibes… with the flashbacks and the notion that Bunny could’ve been saved if others cared more. Sad. Selena Gomez was also an executive producer of that show, so maybe it’s not too random after all.
“She Bop” could have been a lip sync MOMENT. Alas, it was not.
I’m not familiar with Jimbo, but I’m so intrigued by her. That look was everything. However… she needs to step her lip sync p:asterisk_symbol::asterisk_symbol::asterisk_symbol:y up, because that was very underwhelming… and not how you win the crown.
I could barely understand any of the queens’ lyrics in that challenge. I thought the whole number fell flat in general.
Also, I’m all for positivity, but does anyone feel like the judges are holding back constructive criticism? That they’re being a little too complementary like the last All Stars? Looking on the bright side of a queen’s flawed looks is a beautiful thing, but lite-critiquing does not an entertaining reality competition show make.
This was probably my least favorite episode of the entire series so far.
Carolyn is everything. She is most definitely making this season interesting.
WHY would his phone password be Theo?! That makes zero sense and is quite a stretch. And the argument on the rooftop didn’t really make much sense either. It all just seemed thrown together quick to provide a half-ass reason for the accident.
And I know I’m being ridiculously nitpicky, but it’s difficult for me to get invested in the podcast angle. How do they have time to record and edit a full-on podcast when they’re busy swept up with their investigation?
I dunno. It’s not a terrible show by any means, and I do enjoy the cast, but I’m not as enamored by it as many of the other commenters. As least not yet.
I’m not pulled in or blown away by this yet. Considering the rave reviews, I’ll keep on going for now…
This was a bit of an improvement. But I’m still not completely sold.
This is a rough watch. The dialogue is awful, endless and exhausting. I couldn’t care any less about the romance, and I don’t need to hear a dozen times about how much they “won’t work.”
Also, he’s not a tourist by any means, so the name of the show has very little meaning to me… at least so far.
I thought this would be a solid mystery/thriller series, but I’ve felt neither mystified nor thrilled. The pace is a bit torturous and I am not invested into the main character, or his unknown past, whatsoever.
If it weren’t only a six-episode watch, I would probably ditch this show right now. But I might as well see where the back half takes me.
Gosh, there are quite a lot of annoying characters… the constable’s husband (and everyone else that’s rude to her), overly-eager Lammon, the grumpy chess tour guys, the incessantly-lying Luci… all unnecessarily unlikable in some capacity.
And this show is not really pulling me in just yet. I’m not intrigued by the mystery. Hopefully that changes. At least Dornan is nice to look at.
Solid ending, but I wish I knew more about Leanne.
And I thought it was kinda ridiculous that Sean and Julian were so quick to help Leanne after leaving her to die just moments earlier.
