Back when I started this season of Lost, per-episode ratings weren't a thing I did. I'll forego the average episode rating calculation and just use my gut. I don't need the mean as a starting point.
This is a very strong first season. Every character's backstory is interesting. Though I put off finishing the season for a while until the episode metadata got squared away (with some help from Justin), I wanted to keep going.
Season two should be quite a ride, if this was any hint at what's to come.
Averaging the episodes I rated in this season (28 out of 31) yields an average rating of 7.57. Rounding it up feels perfectly accurate.
In truth, I feel like adding a full point, but then it would round up to 9/10—and the season wasn't that stellar.
Having just copied in my plays for this season from MAL, I am very confused that I rated the show an 8. I don't think it deserves that high of a rating, at all.
Had I watched this show now, I feel like I would have given it a 6, maybe. However, I will not actually revise my ratings on Trakt, MAL, IMDb, etc. without rewatching the content—and I definitely don't want to rewatch this season. I don't intend to see season 2, or the movie, or any other SnK media ever again.
Presumably I had a reason for rating it as I did at the time? My rating "system" has changed over time (or rather, it became a "system" rather than "I feel like giving it n rating"), so really, all I can do about old ratings is shrug and try to ignore them.

If I had to describe what's wrong with this season in one word, I would choose "pacing". It dribbles out exposition over the first 6 episodes, spending too much time on side stories along the way, then tries to twist up all the loose ends at once. Needed either a couple more episodes in the season to say everything while maintaining the slow-burn style, or get going a bit quicker earlier on.
Flynne's self-sacrifice at the end doesn't make a ton of sense, probably because the show didn't have time to explain exactly how she pulled that off.

I didn't care for where the show went at the end, here. Outside of one amazing episode (which had basically nothing to do with the plot direction I disliked), this all fell flat for me. Much too predictable that Jess and Nick would end up together; the show had been telling us that for six years, and it would've been nice to get a twist, have her marry someone completely unexpected—or not get married at all. You know, a surprise.

I really expected that to be higher. I so look forward to when Cheers will next come up in my sitcom rotation, it's astonishing that the ratings I give it average to such a low value.
But the rounded-off rating of 8/10 hits the current Trakt global average of 80% (with all of 26 votes) on the nose. Cool, I guess? (Is it still cool to agree with "the crowd" on these things?)

I'm tacking on an extra point for the sheer enjoyment of this show, and how much I'll miss it. I have to find another show like Leverage to fill its slot in my rotation now, and that won't be easy to do.

Not sure what about the show had me holding back its episode ratings, but clearly I was not into something about large parts of this season. Maybe the formula getting old?

So much Alex drama. It's already boring 3 episodes into the season, but it just keeps going.

Sure, it isn't common for a sitcom like this to have a serious through-line of any kind—especially two decades ago—but boy did this season feel scattered. At some point the writers seemed to entirely forget that Raven and crew were still supposed to be in high school, only to suddenly remember that when an episode's central gag demanded it. And ultimately, the series ends without so much as a single line of dialogue about graduation. Kinda weird.

(How did that happen? I found this season less compelling than the previous, sure, but I didn't think my ratings were that low.)

I apparently started this show before developing the habit of rating every episode I watch, so this is the first season with a complete set of ratings to use for statistical calculations. Whoops?

Sabrina remains hard to "believe" as a high school student. I keep having to remind myself that these are basically comic strip characters and not to demand too much dimension.

Feels very paint-by-numbers. One should probably expect that of a 2000s Disney sitcom, though, to be fair.

Yes, really. I think the editing style and the difficulty of believing MJH as a teenager got to me.

I have nothing of substance to say that isn't already covered by @alexlimberg in https://trakt.tv/comments/549457
If only we had decimal-scale ratings, though. A 6/10 for season 6 has a very different meaning from the same 6/10 assigned to season 5 due to rounding.

How continuing on from Will's decision to stay in Philly at the end of season 4 was handled (namely, by not handling it at all) should've been a clue to how the rest of the season would go.
Season 5's best joke was "If we're so rich, why we can't afford no ceiling?"
