A controversial ending that I'm sure will receive a lot of hate, but I personally loved it.
Dexter has broken down, mentally and physically throughout New Blood, and his son was his final hope of gaining happiness or the prospect of a happy life. But acknowledging that he deserved to die for the betterment of Harrison is the most noble thing he could have done, and it almost brought a tear to my eye. love it or hate it. But some of the best ones often are. It will be studied and analysed for years to come, and I hope people who dislike it so much may come to like it more someday.
Farewell to an amazing show, and an amazing character.
Anything about the new Boondocks?
Friggin bananas! Talk about twists n turns!
And that was some damn Cameo... My skin turned ice cold.
And that, "Leave it to the police... What could possibly go wrong"... Classic.
That 45min episode felt like 10min. I give this ep a very high 9+.
Damn! Sh¡t just got serious! This is the Dexter show I remember so fondly! Dexter found his nemesis for this season and Harrison is finally (obliviously) starting to follow his dad's (dark) footsteps. This season is peaking, right now, I really hope they'll be able to keep this momentum up for the remaining episodes.
Also:
Normal people are so strange.
Truly, a quote for life.
There's a whole lot more to tell and even more to happen. This show needs to continue further.
"I don't need Jim. I need Dexter Morgan."
Well, in my opinion, this is the best episode so far. Can't wait for the next episode.
I was expecting a gay scene but ok
There are tears in my eyes. I am so emotional over these fictional pirates. This wasn't really a 10/10 episode as far as content goes, but OP definitely deserves it for it's 1000th episode. What a fun journey it's been watching and reading this series.
What a waste of my time. Im so tired of this formula. Unaware characters doing stuff that make no sense when someone is trying to kill you. I'm going to start looking at who the directors are so I can avoid these type of movies.
Hello Dexter Morgan!
Returning back to Dexter is like finding a bottle of your favorite whiskey and taking that first sip.
I'm hoping all those old and new Dexter fans come on board because episode 1 did not disappoint!
This was quite an elaborate Tesla commercial.
SCI-FI People! I'm 2 episodes in. We deserve way more better than this from these directors. And its not just this show but everything since the pandemic for the SCI-FI genre has been lacking big time.Well on to the next Ep!
How did they get this show so wrong. Season 2 could have been amazing… but one episode in… Terrible acting, horrible storyline…. So much potential wasted.
OK so the second act is being enjoyably batshit from the off.
Also, to the other commentors, kindly fuck off with your homophobia and idiotic "woke trash" dismissal - honestly don't see what was so 'woke' about this episode.
Besides, a decade in, you should know what you're getting with this show.
So new priest is healing them with the communion somehow? First got the inkling when Riley's mother stopped needing her glasses and seemed more youthful. Then his dad's back. Sooo much mystery.
Not that creepy/scary still though. The weird creature and something in the woods is unsettling but not to hill house levels.
One of the best episodes of the season.
Definitely not for everyone, but it hit all the right buttons for me. A very strong potential for my favorite film of the year. I'm in love
Simply amazing, It is soo crazy it's GOOD. So many great moments of "DUH"! Just an over all very fun movie to watch, especially if you are fan of "Giallo" films! Just an over the top, fun ride!
I'm lost for words. This is beyond my expectation!! It's scary and extremely violent with lots of action sequences. Literally a horror film made for horror fans.
This is bound to be divisive, and I can see it getting a cult following in the future.
It plays out a lot like an Edgar Wright movie, starting as one movie and slowly morphing into another.
I personally liked it a lot, I found it very inspired and creative from a story perspective.
It has a great character at the center, some really unpredictable twists, it delivers the scares and gore you want, terrific visuals (Wan’s trademark camerawork is here) and good music (there is a subtle song reference that’s actually kinda brilliant).
It’s not perfect though: the acting can sometimes be a little wonky, there’s too much unneeded exposition, and the tone can occasionally get a little campy, which doesn’t always work.
Still, you have to respect James Wan for bringing creative and fresh ideas into a genre that has continued to give us the same shit over and over again.
6/10
Why did it take this long to kill Arturito? That guy should have died long ago.
The "quality of writing" this season - if you hadn't realized from the previous episodes is of such nature that we get situations like this:
A room has house rules for captive people... yet they instantly say the captive person is going to die that same night. So if people die instantly then why are there rules.
Furthermore, she tells him to fuck her while he is being fucked, but they tie him up and drape 'm over a piece of wood... No acrobat would ever be able to fuck anyone like that
Menial stuff perhaps but if you can't even write a 5 minute scene without staying within the rules of the narrative then you should find another job.
One of the best premieres. The brooding Lovecraftian setting is very much welcomed.
Surprisingly enjoyable season opener ! Some really tense scenes.
very boring. not very interesting just boring, and honestly a waste of time
This episode wasn't mind blowingly amazing or anything, but it was a MAJOR improvement over the later episodes from season 10 (with exception to the Negan origin episode, that one was great). I understand that those additional episodes were filmed under strict COVID restrictions in the summer of 2020, but they felt so unnecessary. Anyway, season 11 is off to a good start. As someone who read through the entire comic book run of "The Walking Dead", I know what to expect when it comes to the Commonwealth. But I also know that TWD TV series doesn't follow the books to a T, so they'll undoubtedly mix things up a bit (which is fine).
Alright, it's not as awful as those "covid" episodes were they fed us a few months ago, but it also lacks a certain umph that season openers have historically had, while still including a lot of the cheeseball "here's how we're re-writing the story this season" themes. At this point you kind of know what to expect from this show, however that being said given that it's the final season I'm not sure a food run is the strongest way to open things up. I find it amazing that a decade into this Apocalypse these people still haven't found ways to be self sufficient and the theme has really grown tired.
Much as the last scene should've been tense, you also know Maggie is going to be fine because they've run out of characters you give a damn about. This episode was not awful, it just repeated themes of years past and really felt like watching someone ride a bicycle up a giant hill that you knew was going to take them hours to ascend.
It’s like they get Hallmark movie actors for every season lol. Except I think these might be worse. I like that it’s like a Horror version of Knives Out though.
Was this a nod to John Carpenter's "Cigarette Burns?" Nice addition of Adrienne Barbeau (The Thing, The Fog, his wife... lol) as well. Hats off AHS for knowing their horror tropes and history. I felt like the beginning and end were good. Probably too much exposition in Act III and the principal actors need to work on their craft imho. In the three episodes so far they've not been able to hold a candle to the actors in the original series which is disappointing. Loved the editing room scene.
So far lots of nostalgia in these first three episodes. I'm liking this series for this reason.
