Really good beginning but can we please stop that lensflaring.
So i just got back from a special screening of the first episode and I can assure you this show is definitely going to be great. As a fan of both Fuller and the book, Gaiman being one of my favorite authors of all time and Hannibal, well, one of my favorite show of all time, everything I expected to see on screen was delivered here. The classyness of Fuller's aesthetic (that was already there in Hannibal) mixed with even more gore and blood serves Gaiman's work perfectly, if you've watched any of Fuller's previous work then you know that his way of telling stories lies deeply on the psychology of his characters and for an adaptation of American Gods you could not hope for someone better. This really is a perfect match and a fan of American Gods (the book) cannot possibly be disappointed in what he's going to find in this first episode. Oh and yeah, THAT scene with Bilquis is there, and.......well yeah, you have to see it. Don't hesitate for a second and watch the show as soon as it airs, Gaiman and Fuller are both geniuses and this series is sure to be incredible.
The fastest man alive can't even stop a dart-kind tranquilizer? Fuck logic. Good luck with Savitar.
I think the wolfman make up was more realistic in the old black and white Universal horror movies.
That Nauvoo launch sequence was beautiful. We need more space shows on TV right now.
James: 'You don't get to decide who's a hero.'
Also James: 'Mon-El isn't a hero.'
Fuck you, James with your arrogant bullshit. Why are you still on my screen?
Loved the Kara/Maggie/Alex scenes this week, enjoying their dynamics. Also really liked the flip of Livewire being a victim and the idea of her being an ongoing nemesis for Supergirl.
The Mars flashbacks/revelations were powerful and really like the friendship forming between J'onn and M'gann.
And the less said about the cliché romance 'building' with Bore-El. The better.
throws an Emmy at Chyler Leigh's head because somehow she manages to outdo herself every week and it's ridiculous
I didn't expect Supergirl to do a horror episode, but they actually kinda pulled it off. The scenes at the research station were sufficiently creepy. And the parasite looked really good.
Drunk Kara was absolutely adorable and hilarious.
The Guardian is fine. I liked James and Winn's interactions in this episode. Kudos to Jeremy Jordan for his angry speech at the DEO. It was amazing. And the idea to lace the suit with lead so Kara can't see inside it was pretty brilliant.
Is something going to happen to J'onn because of White Martian blood?
Well, Mon-El is dead. I mean, not really, but I can't say I'd miss his pasty annoying ass.
Now, let's get to the more emotional and less comprehensible part of this review:
Alex came out to Kara, and of course there had to be a misunderstanding, but that scene at Kara's apartment was beautiful. Everything about it was perfect, from the soft music and the warm lighting to all the acting choices. Alex talking about Maggie and calling her beautiful was just so pure and cute and it made me want to bite my hand off. You know the feeling. Don't lie to me.
AND THEN ALEX KISSED MAGGIE! I had to pause the episode and calm my racing heart. I was so excited and happy that I felt like I was about to explode. But underneath all that there was a nasty little gremlin sitting in my stomach, whispering "Maggie's gonna reject her", so I hesitated for a good minute before hitting play.
And guess what?
The gremlin was fucking right and I hate life.
Don't get me wrong. I want Alex and Maggie's relationship to develop slowly. And Maggie had a good reason for not wanting to get involved with a baby gay who's just starting to figure herself out. The calm, reasonable part of me knows that. But the far more vocal, far less logical part wants them to get together immediately.
Alex's heartbreak destroyed me. Holy shit. My poor baby. I'm sobbing because of her. The way she choked and stuttered and could barely talk... so real and completely devastating.
Welcome to part 2 of my messy overemotional written-while-half-asleep-at-5-AM crossover review, where coherent train of thought isn't a thing and punctuation rules don't matter. Buckle up, nerds, because this was freaking wild and we've got a lot to talk about.
First of all, the Dominators and the special effects in general were insane. Especially considering that this is a CW show and not a big-budget movie. Everything looked great and the action scenes were amazing.
Every year the crossover rolls around and I get to play a fun little game called "Does person X know person Y's secret identity? Have these two characters ever actually interacted before? Who was there when that other thing happened?". You can imagine how absolutely frustrating that is for someone like me, with my attention span of a hyperactive golden retriever puppy. Those are four massive TV shows we're talking about, and they're not the only ones I watch! How am I supposed to remember if Barry and Sara have ever talked before?
The writers managed to do the impossible: practically every single character had their moment in the spotlight, which is impressive with a cast this big and only 42-minute runtime. So kudos for that. What I don't understand is why we had to listen to Wally whining for like 8 of those minutes. That was just annoying. "Why won't they let me help fight aliens?" I don't know, dumbass, maybe it's because you got your powers like 2 seconds ago and you have no training whatsoever?
I liked Oliver's speech to Barry about change and people making choices. I wholeheartedly agree. I wish the other characters would stop getting mad at Barry for Flashpoint. Yeah, he fucked up, and let's hope he finally learns from his mistakes, but it's not like the people around him haven't made some shitty decisions. Give the guy a break. I mean, how can Cisco be sure that his brother wouldn't have died in the original timeline?
Oh, and if I heard correctly, Supergirl's Earth is Earth-38? I don't know why it's important to me, but I'm happy to know that.
hurry hurry, quickly, we have to travel back to this exact date and time in our time machine
This might have been the darkest episode of this show I've ever seen and it can be described with only one word: RACHEL. Thank goodness my girl Krystal was there for some comic relief because this episode needed it.
I can't believe another season of Orphan Black is behind us and that we only have one more left to wrap it all up. Can't wait to see the final (my heart breaks just thinking it) season in 2017!
I'm not sure what I just watched. Was this totally brilliant, or a smelly turd? I... I really don't now.
When it isn't awful, it's cringe worthy.
Too much Felicity already and it's like 5 minutes into the episode. She even has to have her own hacking arch nemesis in the episode.
After seeing all of the episode; yes there was way too much Felicity and family drama. Yet the writers claim they didn't kill Laurel to make
more room for Felicity scenes. Uh huh whatever you say.
Now Olicity heads who are killing the show. Suggested to the Arrow writers on Twitter that Felicity has Oliver's baby next. They're turning the show into a sitcom like Friends.
There was fine action but after every fight scene was more cutesy Felicity scenes. The world probably should just end in this show.
I hope Darhk destroys the world so that I don't feel like I need to keep watching this show
I loved all of the references to the original works and past episodes. I think that the implementation, however, was a little rough. It didn't focus on telling one thing, but many fractured things, which took away from the storytelling. In fact, it was like the episode itself was suffering from a drug induced state, not just one of the characters. While it was still a good episode, but it wasn't the same quality as the normal season's episodes.
This is a cinema milestone; a true masterpiece of modern times. Maybe one of the most underrated here on trakt ( 71% at the time im writing this )
I have seen this film many many times, last night on my hd tv in blu ray, and looked absolutely amazing, this is a masterpiece, this is cinema's mona lisa, absolutely spellbound watching it, gets better with every viewing
Even my 6-year-old son watches it in complete silence.. There are no words to describe it.
I just don't see this working as a TV show. I can see it dragging on and being really dumb. Just feels like a typical MTV teen drama with a few murders thrown in.
That "hacking" scene was an insult towards everyone who ever used a computer.
Someone should start a Kickstarter to raise money for Kit Harington to get acting lessons.
Ridley Scott's return to the "Alien" universe, and, oh God, does it suck! I don't understand why people liked this movie so much. Were they just hoping and wanting to like it so much that they blinded themselves to what they were actually seeing? The plot makes no sense, the characters are the dumbest I've ever seen on screen, and the science and technical aspects make it feel like it was written by a Texas home-schooled kindergartner (if you're doing science fiction, you better get the science right). Okay, maybe that last bit is a little mean, but it's still pretty bad. I don't think I've ever rooted for characters dying so much in a movie. It has a few nice visuals. A few. That's it. That's all it has going for it.
Goddamn junkie dreams. So boring.
Seriously? This junk really won awards? It's not even a movie. More like a crappy CGI test demo where nothing exciting happens the whole way through. The only thing I remember is Clooney trying to hit on Bullock. Fail.
That last scene. That's the show i fell in love with.
Well it has finally become utterly unwatchable.
Don't get me wrong, it was terrible to begin with but it was a guilty pleasure(?) because I wanted to see where they were going with it after saying it was different than the book.
I couldn't stomach it after the first 5 minutes. Some of the worst exposition I have seen in a very long time. Ignoring the embarrassing poor scene in the tunnel, Barbie explaining to the squad what they are doing was an insult to the craft of screenwriting.
If the show stays on the same path as the first episode, we will be in for one hell of a ride
Constantine and now Hannibal, it's getting really hard not to hate NBC. I really hope Amazon will pick up the show, it deserves at least the seven seasons Fuller has planned
Someone once told me, television is a flat circle. Every show we've ever watched or will watch, we're destined to watch over and over and over again. Watching this show, sometimes I'm convinced that the creators have lost their minds. But there are other times, I think I'm main-lining the secret truth of the universe.
WHY DID THEY HAVE TO DO THIS TO DELPHIIIIINE :'((
